Kellan Lutz says Robert Pattinson wants to have his own fashion line

Kellan Lutz has joined a long list of A-listers who have turned to fashion.

The 26-year-old is hard at work putting the finishing details on his Abbot+Main line, and says although he was a successful spokesmodel for Calvin Klein, he wanted to branch out and be more than just a pretty face.

"I wanted to be more than the face of something -- I wanted to be as brand-developed as my career's been," Lutz told Us Weekly. "I fell into acting and I'm very serious with it, but I want something that I can put my name on."

He says his name isn’t the only thing attached to it.

“I’m very involved in the clothing line -- everything gets run through me," he said. "It's men's right now, but I have a women's line that starts this spring."

Lutz’s interest in fashion has influenced another Twilight star to desire his own fashion line: none other than Robert Pattinson.

“Rob and I were talking about doing clothing lines, and he found out I was doing one and was like 'I should do one,'" Lutz said. "He wants to do one -- he's always so hipster."

Lutz says Pattinson’s working title for a line would be “Rags by Rob.”

Looking Sexy Raveena Tandon at art show

Queenie Singh’s party for daughter Tiara’s art debut saw Raveena Tandon came dressed in jeans and a black top. Farah Khan and Dino Morea were others from Bollywood who dropped by. Sixteen year-old Tiara was in the company of her mom, dad Raja Dhody, grandfather as well as friends from her school.

Amrita Arora-Ladak, Surily Goel, Mehr Rampal and Ramona Rodella hung around in a cosy group in a corner. Shobhaa De formed a hen party with Suchitra Pillai and Madhoo Shah while the rarely seen Priya Chatwal and Rahul Khanna also dropped by separately.

Proud mom Queenie who was busy welcoming dozens of her friends said happily, “If your friends won’t come in for you, then they will come in for your child.”

Getting comfortable: Raveena Tandon

Something in common: Laila Khan-Furniturewala, Farah Khan-Ali

South actress Bhavana Rao on playing a mentally challenging role

Juggling between Chennai and Bangalore, actress Bhavana Rao seems to be having the time of her life now. With two films in Tamil and one in Kannada, the Gaalipatta actor is happy with the way her career is shaping up. What’s more? She is glad to have had the opportunity to experiment with different kinds of roles too.

The actress, who is currently shooting in Chennai for Padam Parthu Kathai Sollu says, “I’ve just done a couple of films in Kannada and Tamil. Yet, I believe that my career is just starting off. I am more than happy to be experimenting with different roles at this point.”

Padam Parthu... is in its final stage of production and may see a release next month. The film, directed by Benjamin Prabhu, is an action-cum-romantic movie. Bhavana plays the role of a bubbly tourist photographer, while Tarun plays her love interest. The actor says that her upcoming film Odi Va is what will portray her in a different light. “I am playing a rather serious role in the film for the first time in my career. The film traces the journey of a girl and the traumas that she has to deal with right through. I play the protagonist, and had a tough time shooting for the emotional sequences. Initially, in order to cry, I used a lot of glycerin. But over the days, tears just came automatically while shooting the scenes. So much so, that I even went into depression,” informs the actress.

Nevertheless, these are the kind of roles that she wants to experiment with, says Bhavana. “These roles help me push my limits and prove myself as an actor. Challenging roles are what I want to experiment with.” The actor is also excited about her next Kannada film, Veerapan’s Attahasa, that is being directed by AMR Ramesh. “The role which I am essaying is inspired by a real-life female gangster who was a close aid of the infamous Veerapan. I’ve heard that she lives in Bangalore now. I am looking forward to meet her as well, for it would be great if I get the opportunity to talk to her,” she signs off.

Raksha Bandhan special: Singing Rakhi songs

Check out the songs that have celebrated the brother-sister bond on the big screen

 Phoolon ka Taaron ka

Kishore Kumar had an incredible knack of making miracles out of any song that he’d lend his voice to. And this song was one such example. From the film Hare Ram Hare Krishna this song is undoubtedly the best Rakhi song so far and of course, reminds us of the gorgeous Zeenat Aman.

Bhaiya mere Rakhi ke bandhan ko

With Lata Mangeshkar’s mellifluous voice, this song from the 1959 film Choti Bahen, is picturised on Dharmendra and could be well tagged as a quintessential Rakhi anthem.

 Apun Bola

This song from the film Josh saw two of the Bollywood’s reigning stars Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan come together and play siblings. The song was casual and candid and broke the stereotypical brother-sister relationship that we were used to see on the silver screen.

Priyanka Chopra talks about her relationship with younger brother

Actor Priyanka Chopra may be globetrotting, but she always puts her family right on top of her priority list. If there is one person she is really close to, then it is her younger brother, Siddharth.

And Raksha Bandhan is just the occasion to celebrate that bond between them. Talking about it, she says, “Over the past few years, it’s been difficult to celebrate Raksha Bandhan as my brother is away studying and I am travelling because of work.

But it’s an important festival for us. No matter where we are in the world, we celebrate it.I make it a point to send him a rakhi no matter what. I’m going to miss him a lot today,”she says.

Brother Siddharth, who’s studying a culinary course, pampers his sister when they are together. “Sid is my baby brother and I love him. He's very loving, caring and tries to be a good brother. I always pamper him so he tries to return the favour by making Raksha Bandan special for me every year. He’s a great chef and I love food, so whenever we are together, he cooks me a very special meal,” gushes the actor.

Piggy Chops recently flew down to Switzerland, amidst her choc-a-bloc schedule, to be with her brother on his all important day — his graduation day.

Sid was pleasantly surprised to see his sister there. Talking about the festival she says, “Though I always send him a rakhi, I only wish he took the trouble to send me a gift in return (laughs). I also have a very large family and many cousin brothers. They are spread all over theworld and I send all of them rakhis every year.”

Sorry, the box office is reserved

A still from Don 2
Almost 12 months before the release of his next, "Don 2", on January 5, Farhan Akhtar announced on the internet that the movie will arrive in cinemas on December 23, 2011.

The announcement was probably made not just for the benefit of his fans, but also for his Bollywood contemporaries. After all, if he's considering optimising the most revenue generating weekend of the year, he might as well give a heads-up to those considering a release date around that time.

But Farhan's not the only one. Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly contemplating a Diwali weekend release for his ambitious sci-fi production "RA.One", while Salman Khan is looking at the Eid weekend for the release of "Bodyguard", starring Kareena Kapoor. And director Madhur Bhandarkar did quite the flip-flop while deciding on a date for the release of "Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji". He shifted the date from January 28 to January 26 to capitalise on the holiday's advantage, but then shifted it again to the 28th.

Where big ticket movies are concerned, filmmakers try to 'book' one of the five most profitable weekends of the year for their movie's release almost four-five months in advance. Says Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, "When producers come with big-budget movies, they like to take advantage of one of the five most important weekends of the year - Republic Day, Independence Day, Eid, Diwali and Christmas. And once they tentatively decide on the dates, they make announcements, at least in the trade, for a heads-up to the others. The truth is that everyone, especially the big stars, are always battling for these dates as soon as their movies are decided."

Malamaal weekly
The math is simple, say directors. These weekends mean an additional holiday, which means more people heading to theatres. Says director Vipul Shah, whose "Action Replayy" released on the Diwali weekend in 2010, "These days are helpful, even though one doesn't particularly finish work to ensure a release on one of these four-five big days. But yes, if your movie does finish around this time, the dates give you a 20-25% increase in revenue." Those in the trade agree. Says Anant Varma of DT Cinemas, "The revenue depends on whether these dates fall on a weekday or weekend, but they are always more important than others. Of all the dates, Christmas is the biggest week, and Aamir Khan has always done something special for it, and almost has a monopoly over it."

Santa clause?
But those in the industry do not acknowledge any such monopoly. Director Farah Khan, who released her "Tees Maar Khan" on Christmas weekend last year, says she never checked with Aamir if she could release the film on that date, contrary to stories. Even Vikas Bahl of UTV, who produced the movie, says, "It's no one's weekend but Santa's. Perhaps Santa goes to Aamir's chimney more often around that time, but it's always open to others too. "TMK" did good business."

Irrespective of the superstar, the Christmas weekend has great potential, says Kamal Gyanchandnani of PVR Pictures. He explains, "Yes, the numbers speak louder in Aamir's case, but the weekend is such that it generates more revenue. Christmas is a pure holiday and you don't have any social obligations. During Diwali, people are busy distributing gifts and don't have so much time for entertainment. In terms of pecking order, Christmas is the most important and January 26 the least."

The release date for Prakash Jha's " Aarakshan" was decided months in advance, and the director has been quoted as saying, "One has to do deep thinking for tapping the film business. I had decided on Aug 12 as the release date of "Aarakshan" even before I started shooting it. By releasing it that day, we are getting Rakhi, Independence Day (August 15) and a week or so later, Janmashtami (August 22) too. With so many holidays and festivals, we hope to get a lot of footfall in cinema halls."

War of the weekends
Republic Day week (January 28):
Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji
Eid week (August 30): Bodyguard
Diwali (Mid October): RA.One
Christmas (December 23): Don 2

Sixth month of pregnancy, Aishwarya is glowing

Aishwarya Rai
During a recent shoot in Bangkok for a beauty product, the actress looked anything but puff or bloated.

Those who attended the shoot were all in praise for Ash's looks and couldn't take their eyes off her.

The mommy-to-be reached the shoot on time and showed extreme professionalism. Make up artiste Mickey Contractor says, "Ash looked amazing as usual during the shoot in Bangkok She was glowing and full of energy and excitement. It's always a delight work with her." Sajid possessive about Jacqueline?

Jacqueline Fernandez and Sajid Khan
TOI was the first to report the bonding between Jacqueline Fernandez and her Housefull 2 director Sajid Khan.

Now the possessive beau has started to affect her professional decisions, too. Apparently, Khan forbade her from doing an item number for Desi Boyz starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham. Says an insider, "Director Rohit Dhawan and producer Krishika Lulla were keen that Jackie do an item song for DB. However, she refused the song saying Sajid (Khan) wouldn't like it. Apparently, the director has a say in whatever Jackie does, personally and professionally. The 'official' reason is that if Jackie acts with John in Desi Boyz (it releases before Housefull 2), the pairing would lose its freshness for Sajid's film."

Khan refutes the buzz, "She hasn't discussed anything with me. It's her choice... I will never interfere with anyone's career. If she asks me, I will definitely stop her. Jackie is paired opposite John in my film. If she performs an item song with Akshay and John in Desi Boyz and it releases before my film, it will affect the freshness of my film. I won't allow any of my pairs - Akshay-Asin, John-Jackie and Ritiesh-Zarine - to do item songs together in anyone else's film before Housefull 2 releases."

When asked if he didn't want Jackie to turn down the song because of their personal equation, Khan says, "I don't discuss my personal life." Jacqueline says, "Sajid is the director of my next film, Housefull 2. He wants to see John and me as a fresh screen pair with this film. Doing the DB song would've killed that element, so I respected his decision and passed on the opportunity."

Krishika adds, "Jacqueline told me Sajid wouldn't allow her to do the song."

Neil Nitin Mukesh's dream project

Neil Nitin Mukesh
A closet writer turned producer, Neil Nitin Mukesh, has finally decided to go public with the script that he has been working on for some years now.

Reportedly, the actor, who has recently finalised the romantic thriller, titled Paidaar, has asked the director of Superstar, Rohit Jugraaj, to direct the film, which goes on floors in December.

A source informed that Neil and Rohit hit it off during the shooting of Abbas-Mustan's Players, which was scripted by Rohit. "That's when Neil told Rohit about his dream project Paidaar. Apparently, Rohit also helped Neil with the final shape of the screenplay," said the source.

With the news of Neil's latest endeavour doing the rounds, the industry is abuzz with speculations about the likely cast of the film. And reportedly, the actor's rumoured ex-flame Deepika Padukone is a strong contender for the female lead.

As for Neil, he has decided to don the role of music composer as well. And we hear that the actor and his reputed singer father, Nitin Mukesh will sing one of Mukesh's classic evergreens. The source added that besides composing the music, the father and son are likely to also produce the film.

When contacted, Nitin confirmed, "Well, yes it's true. But I can't reveal details. I've been working on this script quietly for years now. I was wondering who would direct it for me. Then, when I got to know Rohit Jugraj, I knew I had found the director capable of doing justice to my dream project.

Rohit and I are not only like-minded, but also very compatible in our creativity. I can't wait to start the film. I'll be singing all the numbers for my character. Apart from this, I can't reveal anything more right now."

My sister spoils me: Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh
This Raksha Bandhan, Ranveer Singh will buy his sibling Ritika a present for the first time

My mother has made a small prayer area in our home, and my older sister Ritika ties me a rakhi in that part of the home every year. She's always particular about tying a rakhi that doesn't bleed colour and looks good on my wrist, as I wear it till it comes off on its own. Ritika personally selects the rakhi, and we invariably debate over the knot. We argue over what is the optimum way of knotting a rakhi. She feels very awkward when I bend down to touch her feet... but I do
it anyway!

Another one of her personal touches that I appreciate is the selection of chocolates on the thali. She's solely responsible for my major sweet tooth. As a child, she'd buy me chocolates almost every day. On Raksha Bandhan, she always includes my favourite chocolates in the thali. Both of us gorge on them greedily once the ritual is done with.

When I was away from home studying in the US, Ritika would send me a rakhi via post. She'd also include small ziplock bags with rice and the tikka. She would even send me kharchi - in dollars, no less! I missed her the most during that time and especially on those days.

Since I'm her baby brother, she always spoils me to bits. Instead of me buying her a gift, she buys me a whole bunch of gifts on Raksha Bandhan like watches, laptops, mobile phones or perfumes. This year, for the first time ever, I've been able to afford buying her a present in return with my own money. I would like to get her some luxury accessories, but she is very particular so I'll let her select whatever she likes.

(As told to Upala KBR)

Yes, I'm in love: Mahie Gill

Mahie Gill Mahie Gill looks all excited as she sits for a chat. And the girl knows what to talk. So, she immediately gets talking about her next film, which has been directed by Ram gopal Varma and is 'inspired' by the Neeraj Grover-Maria Susairaj case.

"We shot for the film in the same building where the murder had taken place. The only difference in the location was that while Neeraj was murdered in flat number 201, we shot in flat number 1501. For seven days, we shot in the same house, with blood splattered all around," recalls Mahie, whose character in the film is 'inspired' by Maria Susairaj.

"Playing Anusha Chawla has been mentally exhausting and emotionally tiring for me. It was a little creepy and stressful. I still remember being in the lift and thinking how they must have executed the murder and chopped the body," she says.

"A couple of times when I was in the lift, it suddenly stopped on the second floor with flat number 201 right in front of it. And no one was there. Also, we heard rumors about how a restaurant was still getting calls from flat number 201 and someone would order food."

How did she prepare for the role? "Initially, I had thought of meeting Maria and knowing more about her life, her mannerisms. But later, I dismissed the idea because the movie is only inspired by the Neeraj Grover murder case and not based on it," she says.

After discussing how the dancing to the song "Rangeela" for the film came as a surprise to her, she finally gets talking about things other than films. Blushing, she confesses that the Cupid's arrow has struck her. "Yes, I am in a relationship with someone. We have been good friends and it is because of my friends that we are in a relationship right now. He is not from the industry and I'm happy about it," she says. So, is marriage on the cards? "Marriage? I don't know about that," she says and quickly adds, "Not so soon."

Paris Hilton to reveal all to Karan Johar

Karan Johar and Paris Hilton
Hollywood hottie Paris Hilton is coming to Mumbai shortly. Her plans are a closely guarded secret, but BT has learnt that the international socialite will be interviewed by Karan Johar for his TV show.

We hear KJo will be griling the 30-year-old when she comes to India next month. Apparently, she wanted to be interviewed by someone of a certain standing, and her agents did their homework and zeroed in on Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan as the biggest celebrity show. A few calls were made and Karan was contacted. KJo agreed to interview her, but the fourth season of his show has already wrapped. However, since she was keen, he asked the channel if they would be interested in shooting a special show with the American heiress. Given her international celebrity status, they jumped at the opportunity.

The host will have enough to ask Paris, controversy's favourite child, whose love life is often in the news. The great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of Hilton Hotels, she first came into the limelight in 2003 when an ex leaked their sex tape. Since then, she has become famous just for being famous, and dabbled in a number of things - a few acting gigs, a music album, and the TV show The Simple Life. In recent years, she has starred in a number of reality shows like Paris Hilton's My New BFF and The World According To Paris, among others.

She has also had her fair share of brushes with the law and served a widely publicised sentence in a Los Angeles county jail in 2007.

Imran Khan's tireless pursuit

Imran Khan
The passing of the State Government of India's new law to increase the age limit for alcohol consumption to 25 stirred up a whirlwind of opposition from the youth.

And one in particular was the industry's very own
Imran Khan, who had announced that he would file a PIL against the new law.

Incidentally, the law was passed a little before the release of Delhi Belly. However, Imran, who is busy with the promotions of his next film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, has yet to act on his words.

It has been more than a month and a half and a honeymoon later, but the actor asserts that he has not forgotten to attend to the issue.

When contacted, Imran told Mumbai Mirror, "There has been a lot of progress on that. I have been doing extensive research on the law. In fact, there are certain things I want to bring to notice. I would advice people to file an RTI about the law to find out some facts. I had filed an RTI and that is when I came across these facts."

Anurag makes me do intimate scenes: Kalki Koechlin

There's more to Kalki Koechlin's film roles than just quirkiness, rage and sleaze. But despite the attention-grabbing roles, Kalki is determined to prove that she is as good at handling drama, as playing a trauma-stricken teenager.

The actor, who is riding high post the success of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD), says that she is now ready to cut her teeth on commercial potboilers. "I have always thought of myself as a commercial actor," says Kalki, adding, "I've never ruled out masala films. I wanted to do a light-hearted, fun and uplifting flick, which ZNMD was. But on the other hand, it was also treated very realistically," she shares.

But despite a first-rate performance in ZNMD, big production houses aren't exactly knocking at her door. "Things don't change overnight. I don't look at a film in terms of where it will take me and my career. The script has to be believable and has to excite me," she adds.

After ZNMD, in which she got to show her humourous side, Kalki will be seen in That Girl In Yellow Boots, as a British citizen, Ruth, tracking her father in Mumbai and equipped with just a letter. "It is the toughest character I have played to date. The character comes to a different world completely and explores the Mumbai underbelly on her own without even speaking the language," she shares.

But is the film too outre for the Indian audience? "It is a niche film and not a commercial drama. But it is a very interesting story - a story of every woman who should be accepted," says Kalki. Prod her whether reports that scenes of the film - which did the rounds of film festivals - have been leaked on the internet irk her and she says, "There are always a lot of rumours about things. The release of the film got delayed because we were looking for an international release as well and it will hit the screens soon in the US."

Though she has two releases lined up, Dibakar Banerjee's political thriller, Shanghai and My Friend Pinto, Kalki is candid enough to admit that she's "not doing anything at the moment." "I am travelling with my plays, and will be starting another one soon," she shares. Shanghai has her Dev.D co-star Abhay Deol, but Kalki will be seen alongside Emraan Hashmi in the film. "I have no scenes with Abhay. I didn't see him at all on the sets of the film," she says.

As for husband Anurag Kashyap's recent remarks that it is difficult for him to watch Kalki do intimate scenes, the actor says, "Anurag only makes me do intimate scenes in his films. He has no right to complain."

Mysterious girl in Saif Ali Khan's life

Saif Ali Khan
With his first film as a producer, Love Aaj Kal, Saif Ali Khan introduced Giselli Monteiro to Bollywood. However she wasn't revealed until the movie released. Saif is all set to repeat this technique in his next venture Cocktail.

Our source said, "Cocktail is directed by Homi Adjania and apart from Deepika, there is another actress in the film.

While there were rumours that Kareena would be playing the part, the fact is that there is a new actress from London, who will be making her debut in the film. Saif wants to keep the actress under wraps until the film releases."

Confirming the news Saif said, "Yes it is true. But we are only 70% done with Cocktail and after that we have Agent Vinod. Right now, I am concentrating on Aarakshan. We will speak about it when the film is ready."

Stalker arrested outside Sharon's home

Sharon Stone
A man has been arrested for "yelling and banging" at the gate of actress Sharon Stone's house in the Hollywood Hills.

The man, who is in his 50s, was detained by police Thursday.

"Today, at around 10:30 a.m. the LAPD West unit responded to actress Sharon Stone's house for a man yelling and banging at the gate. He was detained for mental evaluation," contactmusic.com quoted a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson as saying.

No one was hurt in the incident, and it is not clear if Sharon, who has been in New York filming "Gods Behaving Badly", was at home when the incident happened.

Sonam Kapoor is happy to be experimenting

Last year it was Deepika Padukone who had an eventful year with as many as five of her films releasing one after another. Now the same could well hold true for Sonam Kapoor who started it all with Thank You but would also be seen in 'Mausam' and 'Players' before the end of year.

She is happy though that at the least she is changing genres with each of these films and experimenting with her performance and look.

“It has been a deliberate decision on part of Sonam to jump across genres with each of her films. She doesn't want to get typecast in those quintessential boy-meets-girl love stories.

If that was the case, she wouldn't have started off with unconventional films like Saawariya and Delhi 6 where she didn't even get a chance to get into a chic avtar, something which she knows she can carry off very well both on and off the screen,” said a friend of Sonam who has been a steady companion through her Bollywood journey.

Kathryn Bigelow's Osama movie in trouble

Osama Bin Laden, whose death was being made into a film by Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow, has run into trouble as a top Republican lawmaker has demanded an investigation into a report that the White House is cooperating with the film.

House Homeland Security Committee chairman Peter King wrote, "The administration's first duty in declassifying material is to provide full reporting to Congress and the American people. In contrast, this alleged collaboration belies a desire of transparency in favour of a cinematographic view of history." But White House spokesman Jay Carney said, "We don't discuss classified information." In response, the filmmakers have called the film a "nonpartisan" story.
