'Khiladi 786' has garnered Rs 50 crore in the first week itself and is still counting," says creative producer of the film Rakesh Upadhyay. “Though the weekend proved a high point, the real challenge for a film is to make the counter ring on Mondays and Tuesdays. And Khiladi 786 thanks to strong word of mouth has remained super steady throughout the week and the comedy has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in the first seven days,” he adds.
With no opposition, whatsoever from any other big banner film, for the next seven days and satellite rights, overseas rights, music rights and video rights in place, the makers feel confident that it will end up doing impressive business worldwide.
After Bodyguard, Bol Bachchan, Son of Sardaar and OMG! Oh My God, Khiladi 786 will mark Himesh Reshammiya’s fifth hit film in a row with chartbuster music. On the single screen front, the film has done record-breaking business with people whistling and dancing on every song.

Hat-trick for Sonakshi Sinha-Akshay Kumar
After hit Rowdy Rathore, Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha are back with Joker.
She worked with actor Akshay Kumar in Rowdy Rathore, has shot for Joker, and is now ready to start shooting with him for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2, this month.
Ask actor Sonakshi Sinha about it and she says: "I consider myself lucky that a superstar like Akshay has shown good interest in working with a newcomer like me.
He showed confidence in me when I was just one film old (Dabangg).
When someone as seasoned as Akshay is confident about your acting, you get more motivated. For me as an actress, it is an amazing prospect to work with him... Not many newcomers get that opportunity and here I am, doing three films with Akshay."

Shah Rukh Khan roped in to promote ‘Joker’?
Mumbai: Considering Shirish Kunder has been promoting his upcoming flick ‘Joker’ in the most unusual of ways possible, roping in Shah Rukh Khan to participate in his promotional ventures isn’t exactly off the mark. Though Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha, the lead actors of ‘Joker’, haven’t been seen promoting ‘Joker’ a lot, Farah Khan, it seems, has other ideas in mind.
Recently, Farah had been to Mannat, Shah Rukh’s bungalow, to meet the actor and discuss their forthcoming production ‘Happy New Year’. Farah ended up striking gold for her husband Shirish at the meeting, and came out of SRK’s bungalow with a fun video starring the superstar and the aliens of ‘Joker’.
A source has revealed to a daily, “Farah had gone to meet SRK in the afternoon to discuss Happy New Year as he is leaving later this week for the shoot of Yash Chopra`s untitled film. After a while, they started chatting about ‘Joker’ and the aliens. Farah asked SRK if he wanted to see them, and he agreed. She made a quick call to the production house and told them to send the aliens to Mannat.”
“The aliens were spotted entering Mannat and SRK also did a fun video with them. Despite being busy with a photo shoot with Daboo Ratnani at Mannat, the actor did the video simultaneously for Farah,” added the source.
Later on, Farah Khan confirmed the news and added, “Shah Rukh is family and it was very sweet of him to take some time out for ‘Joker’.”
Whether the “sweetness” of SRK was another way to mend his soured relation with Shirish Kunder after the brawl that had taken place earlier this year or it is his friendship with Farah at the crux of it all, it would be pleasing to watch King Khan shake a leg with the aliens of ‘Joker’. The film is scheduled to release on August 31.

Housefull 2 is full of heroism
In a return to the herogiri of the 1970s and the ’80s, Sajid Khan’s Housefull 2 will have four actors —Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade — taking on 40 goons in an action sequences that the director promises is one of the USPs of the much-anticipated sequel.
“The actors I grew up watching—Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna—were heroes in the true sense and you didn’t question the irrationality of them taking on an army of villains. Since retro is in, I thought why not rewind to those glory days when heroism wasn’t simply about fighting but fighting the odds,” reasons Sajid.
He insists he has designed every kick and punch himself and roped in the action director of Rambo, Kawee Sirikhanaerut better known as Seng Kawee, as his associate action director to execute his vision.
“The action in my film has no shades of Rambo. Why should it? It’s not a boxer’s story. But you will get to see some amazing hand-to-hand combats, Akshay picking up and throwing John bodily and he responding with a counter-punch that broke my camera,” Sajid laughs. “And all this without cables and CGI (Computer Generated Imagery).”
He has an ally in Akshay whom he rates as one of the best action stars in Bollywood today, always ready for any kind of daredevilry. “Akshay has done so many fights in the last two decades that he knows where to place the camera, what safety norms to practise and how to cheat the viewer if the need arises. He’d make a superb action director. When Akshay is on the set you can happily take the backseat,” smiles Sajid who shot one action sequence over four days and four locations in Thailand, from a dense forest to the top of a mountain and under a waterfall.
“I’ve always had a passion for action and now when I’ve got the chance, I’m going ballstic”, he added.

'Well groomed' Sonakshi impresses with her 'single take' act
Though the title of the film in which Sonakshi Sinha is working is called 'Joker', it is her co-actor and director who are smiling the most. Quite fresh and raw when roped in to play the leading lady in Akshay Kumar starrer 'Joker', she has managed to impress the veteran actor as well as director Shirish Kunder to such an extent that they can't help singing praises about her till date.
“Right through the shooting of 'Joker' which had kick-started early this year, Sonakshi has turned out to be a stunning revelation,” says a senior unit member.
Though in the initial days Shirish wanted his relatively newcomer lady to feel a little comfortable and hence picturised song and dance sequences with her, he was amazed to find her totally prepared when it came to some complex talkie scenes as well.
“Sonakshi was not just punctual on sets but also totally prepared when the scene was ready to be canned,” the source adds.
“In fact the very first scene that required her to mouth dialogues, Sonakshi was presented with a three page read. To everyone's surprise, she rehearsed it all by herself in her vanity van for some time before stepping on the sets. When Shirish called action, she managed to deliver her scene in a single take.”
Sources close to Sonakshi say that she doesn't make big deal about such so-called accomplishment because of active grooming that she went through before beginning work on the film.
“What's the big deal in saying your lines properly? Isn't that what you get paid for eventually,” comes a back handed compliment for her.
“What Sonakshi is managing is basically doing her job well. Yes, it is sad that not many actresses of past or present generation acknowledge this basic virtue of being an actor but Sonakshi isn't leaving anything to chance. For her, 'Joker' is as serious an affair as was 'Dabangg'. She isn't relaxing at all.”
No wonder, people close to her are happy repeating her in their subsequent projects as well. While Akshay has roped her in for 'Rowdy Rathore', Shirish would be working with the actress again in 'Kick'.
“On sets, there is no additional effort required from me to hone her acting skills any further. In fact during her scenes, she doesn't even refer to any paper before I call action. I thought that in her scenes with other actors she may need a cue or anything but there was no such requirement from her either in between shoots or different angles from which she was being captured. She is up there when it comes to saying the dialogues right and taking the right pauses. Very few actresses can manage that,” says Shirish.

Akshay Kumar donates Rs 2cr for ice hockey
“Akshay has donated over £250,000 to the Ice Hockey Association in India to promote the sport in the country,” confirmed his spokesperson on Tuesday.
The actor, who will make a cameo appearance in Speedy Singhs, had however completely dismissed reports of this donation during his visit to the Capital on Monday. “It is not true. We will try to do something for ice hockey but not in this manner. Just wait as you will soon hear about it in the right way,” he had said.
Well, Kumar surely loves his country and that is reflected not only through his love for Indian sports but also through his loyalties towards Bollywood. “I’m very happy acting in Hindi films right now. Though I’m producing an international project, I’m not thinking of acting in Hollywood right now,” says the 44-year-old, adding, “When I started my production house, I hadn’t thought that I would be producing an international film one day.”
The actor also spoke about his affiliation towards sports’ films. “I’m more inclined towards sports’ films. But, this film is not just about ice hockey, it is an emotional father-son story. People will love watching the Punjabi culture showed in the film ,” he said. When asked if he fears any competition from Shahid Kapoor starrer Mausam, which also releases on Sept 23, he said, “Both the films are very different from each other. I hope both films do well.”

Here's why Aarti Chabria opted out of a film with Akshay
Remember Aarti Chabria? Koi baat nahi ¦ if you don't. This actress was apparently offered an action-oriented role in an Akshay Kumar film.
Though she was more than excited to work with Akki, she insisted on reading the script. Now the makers were not comfortable to share the script with her. So she had to opt out.
Yeh kya baat hui? Why can't they share the script with someone who will be a part of the film? Because she is a lady? Not acceptable.

Akshay has been a great source of inspiration: Aarti Chhabria
Actress Aarti Chhabria, who won the fourth season of Colors' show "Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi", says host Akshay Kumar was her biggest source of inspiration.
"Akshay has been a great source of inspiration. As I knew him even before the show, so I was quiet comfortable with him. He is a great host.
He not only does his work well and to the best of his ability, but takes special interest in understanding his contestants strengths and weaknesses. He always encouraged us, " Aarti, who has worked with Akshay in "Awara Paagal Deewana", told on phone.
"There was a time when I was very afraid of doing one of the stunts and Akshay came to me and said, 'Ye ladki haar maanane vaalo mein se nahin hai' (This girl never gives up).
"After listening to such words from none other than Akshay Kumar, anybody would try to give her or his best. This is just one of the incidents, he gave such boosters all through the show to everybody. He is very witty and has a great sense of humour and also great sense of timing, " she added.
Aarti and her partner Dhaval Thakur succeeded over singer Mauli Dave and Dhiraj, after facing risky stunts on the grand finale aired Saturday night. The show was shot in locales of South Africa.
The actress was eliminated, but she came back with a bang as a wild card and entry and ended up wining "Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi 4".
"The journey has been a complete rollercoaster ride. I have been using this word 'mindblowing' quiet often, but now after winning the title I understood the real meaning of it. The journey of 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' has been mindblowing, " said Aarti.
"I have learnt so much. Now I feel much more confident. Initially, I had a lot of fears whether it is height, water, fire or creepy crawlies, but now I have overcome so many fears, " she added.
The 28-year-old underwent intense training before starting shooting for the show.
"Before coming to the show I thought that for winning this kind of a show one needs to have muscle power so I underwent massive training. I did a lot of cycling and swimming. But after I was sent back home in the third week itself, I realised the show was all about having inner strength and belief, " she said.
The actress, who is enjoying her win, promises to return to films.
"I have been enjoying my time and trying to overcome the small little injuries. But you will soon see me in films. I have few projects coming up. I might do all kind of different things like anchoring, dancing, but acting is my passion."
Aarti made her debut in Bollywood with "Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai" (2002) and later featured in films like "Awara Paagal Deewana" and "Shootout At Lokhandwala" amongst others.

As Akshay believes in living a larger than life, He expects the same for his movies.

Will Saif replace Akki as Masterchef India anchor?
Don't expect a lot from my item song because I am fully clothed in it: Raveena Tandon
Raveena Tandon who is making a comeback to item songs with her number "Main Chandigarh di star" in "Bbuddah... Hoga Terra Baap", doesn't call it her comeback film.
"Comeback is a very overrated word. Whenever I do something after even a little gap people term it as a comeback. How many times will I make a comeback? I would prefer to call it a backdoor entry into films, " she said.
Raveena, who last had a release in 2006 with a film called "Sandwich", has really shaped up and lost oodles of weight. She is known for her moves in item songs like "Tu cheez badi hai mast mast", "Yeh raat" and "Shehar ki ladki".
But the actress maintains that her item song in "Bbuddah..." is not a typical item number.
"Honestly it's not a typical item song of today. The coinage of an item song nowadays is a little different. Now item means something else only, but I have maintained that please don't expect a lot from the song because I am fully clothed in it, " Raveena told in an interview.
Raveena said she loved her character in the film.
"It is a very cool, fun song. The character of the girl, who is a very talkative, over dressed, over the top person, and thinks of herself as a rockstar, is understood through this song, " she said.
"So, basically, it is an introduction to my character. It is catchy and I loved moving on it. The best thing was that we finished it in one shift, " she added.
In the film that has been directed by Puri Jagannath and is slated to hit screens July 1, the 36-year-old actress will be seen opposite Amitabh Bachchan and this will be her fourth film with the megastar after "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan", "Aks" and "Agni Varsha".
"When this film was offered to me first, I had thought that I won't be able to do it, but then everyone said that you have to do it because this is perfect for you and only you can do it.
Then I got to know that Mr. Bachchan is behind this, so I thought that even if I have five scenes with him, it will be great for me. This will be my fourth film with him, so in that thought I said yes to this film, " said the actress.
Reminiscing her experience of working with the 68-year-old actor this time around, Raveena said: "My equation with Mr. Bachchan depends on the film that I am doing with him. Like in 'Bade Miyan...', I was like a brat with him always, since he has seen me since my childhood.
But in 'Aks', it was very difficult for me because I had a very different role there."
A mother of two, Raveena said she is overawed by Bachchan.
"I have idolised him since my childhood. Whenever I meet him I start rambling, I become nervous when he is around and I goof up a lot; so throughout 'Aks' I kept a distance from him, so that I can do the strong, confrontational, intense scenes with him, " Raveena said.
"In this film, it was very comfortable because I'm playing myself a carefree person.
I was allowed to say anything to him because the character was like this; so I wasn't even scared that he might feel bad. It was very easy and fun to play this role with him, " she added.
Raveena has already completed a bilingual film called "Laboratory". She is also doing "Aap Ke Liye Hum" with Jaya Bachchan which is still under production.
"Comeback is a very overrated word. Whenever I do something after even a little gap people term it as a comeback. How many times will I make a comeback? I would prefer to call it a backdoor entry into films, " she said.

I think Priyanka did a pretty good job: Akshay
Twinkle has given up on me a long time ago: Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar returns to the small screen tonight with Khatron Ke Khiladi 4. The star anchor feels that in his third outing for the reality show he has managed to 'torture' the 13 female contestants to the maximum. With stunts designed by him, he says he had an extra dose of adrenaline rush performing it first himself, as we ask him... How does your wife Twinkle react when she sees you indulging in daredevil acts? Is she nervous, scared? Not at all! She's far from all this. She has given up on me a long time ago! And your son Aarav? He's the one who encourages me. He tells me go for it, take yet another shot. Your sister-in-law Rinke Khanna has styled you for KKK4. Did you have any specific look in mind? When your in-laws tell you something, you just listen. You don't ask questions. She decided how I should look and I just followed her instructions. There was no discussion, no look in mind. I could not tell her anything, She is my sister-in-law remember. I just had to wear the clothes! Which contestant did you have to 'torture' the maximum? I have screamed at all of them but at the same time, encouraged them, wiped their tears and hugged them when the task was done. Instead of creepy crawlies, this time there are animals to contend with? Yes, this was my idea. All this while we have seen participants battling the creepy crawlies. I wanted to take fear to a new level with wild animals. Most of the stunts were done without the support of overheard wires? This was again my idea. Wires give you support, you feel you are safe so you are not conquering your fears. Almost 90 per cent of the stunts have been done without wire support. You have also hosted a cookery show on TV? Which do you enjoy more? Both. They are my passions. That's the reason I do such shows. Doing daredevil stunts and cooking is something that gives me a high. |

Sonakshi impresses her JOKER team
![]() |
| A Still From Joker |
"Yes definitely, in JOKER she is there right through the film with Akshay,", assures Shirish Kunder, the film's director, "She has a well etched out part and the best part is that both she as well I are very enthusiastic about making the best use of the platform made available as this is our second film each. I would personally like to work more with someone like her who is younger and is just starting off as it brings us both in the same space."
Continuing in the same vein Shirish, who has earlier worked with Preity Zinta in his debut directorial outing JAAN-E-MANN, adds, "She has that gift which I guess come from her genes. You have to tell Sonakshi just once about what you want and she does it just perfectly well. You don't have to explain things much to her. This reflects not just in her act but also the dialogue delivery as she brings in punctuations at just the right place in the right way."
Not to forget the fact that Sonakshi has already decided to go all out to change her DABANGG image by doing a 'Munni' kind of a song for JOKER.
"Now again she is coming up with similar 'thumkas' and 'jhatak-matak' act so that she can stand out from the rest of the crowd," he says, "She is going totally 'bindaas' with Akshay here and it shows on camera."
Also starring Shreyas Talpade and Minissha Lamba with music by GV Prakash, JOKER arrives under the banner of Farah Khan & Shirish Kunder's 'Three's Company' and Akshay Kumar's 'Hari Om Entertainment Co.' and is a UTV co-production.
