But Shakira received a kiss from a very different kind today.

The Colombian pop star got a big wet one on the cheek from a giant killer whale as she visited the Miami Seaquarium with her boyfriend yesterday.

Beaming, the 35-year-old singer stuck her cheek out as the toothy sea animal gave her a lick on her face.

Not to miss out on the moment, Gerard also went cheek-to-cheek with the black and white orca.

Today, the cute couple went casual for the outing, with a near make-up free Shakira wearing a pair of black shorts and a simple white T-shirt.

Tenderly touching his girlfriend's knee, Gerard looked ready for the water in a pair of boardshorts and a near-matching top to his ladylove.

Killer whales aren't always known to be that friendly.

In February 2010, Dawn Brancheau, a trainer at SeaWorld in Orlando, was brutally butchered by a killer whale named Tilikum.

Gerard and Shakira are currently relishing in some relationship time after a busy past few weeks.

 Gerard just recently played in the The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, where his Spanish team were victorious over Italy in the final.

Meanwhile, Shakira has been busy filming her new music video.

Last month she was seen on set of the clip looking absolutely sensational in a long gold dress as she sang down from a balcony in Barcelona, Spain.

The singer had been mixing business with pleasure and travelling back and forth to Poland to watch her man play in the championship.

Previously, there had been rampant reports that the Colombian beauty was pregnant with the couple's first child.

She's been dating footballer Gerard for over a year and they recently bought their first home.

But the Hips Don't Lie singer's representatives denied that she is expecting.

'Another false rumour,' Shakira's spokesperson told People en Español.

The smitten couple have, however, made the all-important decision to live together and recently purchased a large home in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona.

Shakira and the former Manchester United player met last year while shooting the video to her song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).

The song is the official track of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which was won by Spain.

Her romance with Gerard comes after she was in an 11-year relationship with Argentine lawyer Antonio de la Rua.

Shakira sizzles at Indian wedding

Grand palazzos, gondolas and Colombian pop star Shakira in person! It couldn't get bigger than the grand Indian wedding of Britain-based industrialist Pramod Agarwal's daughter in Venice at a reported cost of 10 million euros. The May 12-14 affair to remember saw as many as 800 guests and 72 hours of celebration, the high point of which was a performance by Shakira. The three-day extravaganza saw elephants and horses traipsing down the charming Italian city of canals.

Agarwal, an Indian born metals commodities trader and investor, hosted the wedding of his daughter Vinita to Muqit Teja at the San Clemente Palace Hotel and Resort.

According to weddingsutra.com, a huge team of coordinators and specialists from Mumbai and Delhi were flown down to conceptualise the grand affair, which included logistics and hospitality teams. Decor tycoon Sumant Jayakrishnan was in charge of the ambiance. The festivities were captured by ace photographers Badal and Raja Jain, while well-known chefs from India took care of the Indian cuisine.

This is not the first time an international artist has performed at an Indian wedding. International popstar Akon also performed at the wedding reception of Mumbai socialites Kajal Fabiani and Gaurav Assomull in Monte Carlo in March this year.

Bollywood is of course, not far behind. From Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora to Neha Dhupia and Minissha Lamba, stars have often been seen performing at the weddings of business tycoons and politicians.

Congress leader Kanwar Singh Tanwar's son's marriage in Delhi, for instance, saw a slew of Bollywood stars taking to the stage. These included King Khan, Neha Dhupia, Zarine Khan and Minissha Lamba.

In 2004, ace businessman Laxmi Mittal's daughter's wedding saw Shah Rukh, Juhi Chawla, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee dancing to tunes choreographed by Farah Khan. Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai also set the stage on fire with high-energy performances.

Mittal's brother Pramod, celebrated his birthday in a lavish bash in Central London. Sajid Khan hosted the event, Shah Rukh played James Bond, while Bipasha Basu, Celina Jaitley and Dia Mirza were also part of the celebrations.

The week-long mega-wedding of the two sons of Sahara business group chief Subrota Roy in 2004 was also a star-studded affair featuring stars such as Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya. The guests were entertained by a music group flown in from London and dances choreographed by a top Bollywood dance director.

Industrialist Pradeep Dhoot's son Saurabh's marriage to Radhika Singhal was also full of celebrities such as Bipasha, Malaika and King Khan. Katrina Kaif also gave a dance performance at the wedding.

Shah Rukh Khan's efforts to rope in sexy pop siren Shakira to shoot a promo for his IPL cricket team have gone kaput.

The singer and the actor were caught up in their own schedules and weren't able to match their timings. So at least this season, SRK won't be getting Shakira to dance and sing for his team. SRK was also hoping to get her to do a special number for his film, at least that's what the buzz was. Unfortunately, that too isn't happening. Better luck next time SRK!

Pop Singer Shakira's new boyfriend, football ace Gerard Pique has finally opened up about their romance, revealing the couple is "very happy".

The "Hips Don't Lie" hit maker began dating him after announcing her split from longtime boyfriend, Antonio de la Rua, in January, reports dailystar.

She recently posted an image of the sportsman with his arms around her on her Twitter page, alongside the caption "Les presento a mi sol...", which translates as, "I present to you my sunshine."

Pique has now spoken out about the relationship, revealing he is trying to get used to the increased attention since he has started dating the superstar.

"It is a question of getting used to this new situation where you are being followed in the street. I try to take it in my stride," he said.

Acknowledging Shakira's gushing posts on the microblogging site about him, Pique said: "She simply wants to show that we are in a good place, that I am very happy and so is she, and that's all."

Fan steals Shakira's ring

Pop singer Shakira was reportedly robbed on stage by one of her fans during a concert in Mexico.

Femalefirst reports that the 34-year-old singer was shaking hands with revellers as she performed in Monterrey, Mexico April 7, when an opportunistic concertgoer snatched her ring from her finger.

Even after noticing the robbery, the singer did not confront the thief and continued performing.

No arrests have been made and the concert at the University of Monterrey was her final show in the country.

Harvard gives Shakira 2011 Artist of the Year award

Washington, Feb 28 (IANS/EFE) - The Harvard Foundation has presented Colombian singer Shakira with its 2011 Artist of the Year award, an annual prize bestowed by the university’s centre for intercultural arts and science initiatives to honour the philanthropic activities of musicians, actors and writers. 

Shakira, who is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and founder of the Barefoot Foundation to provide education and nutrition for children in impoverished parts of Colombia, accepted the prize at a cultural festival held Saturday at Harvard, the Boston Herald reported on its website.

After expressing her thanks for being honoured in this way, Shakira urged the university’s students to take advantage of their own opportunities and work to improve educational conditions in underdeveloped countries.

The director of the Harvard Foundation, S. Allen Counter, said that the Colombian artist was selected to receive the prize for her ‘distinguished history of creativity’, as well as for her charitable contributions.

The singer, who has sold some 50 million albums during her career, continues to promote her bilingual work ‘Sale el sol/The Sun Comes Out’, which includes her hit ‘Waka Waka’ which she popularised at the South African World Cup.

The Foundation’s Artist of the Year award has been presented in the past to actresses Salma Hayek and Sharon Stone, actors Will Smith and Jackie Chan, and to jazz musician Herbie Hancock, among others.

A fortnight ago 24-year-old Pique, who plays for FC Barcelona, uploaded a photograph from his birthday on February 2 of himself and the Colombian singer celebrating with friends.

The singer first met Pique last spring while shooting the video to her song Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) - the official track of the 2010 World Cup.

Barcelona-based newspaper El Periodico de Catalunya claimed they had a string of secret encounters following their initial meeting.

However, Shakira has previously dismissed reports of a romance. At a recent press conference in Barcelona she described the claims as a 'waka-rumour' and added: 'You shouldn't take any notice of waka-rumours.'

Pique was also quick to deny that they were lovers, telling reporters last month:  'We're just friends. There's nothing more to it.'

But the tide seems to have turned and if the recent pictures are anything to go by, the pair may be on the brink of going public.

I drew inspiration from Shakira, says Katrina

Kolkata, Dec 11 – Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif says she drew inspiration from pop star Shakira for the sizzling item song ‘Shiela Ki Jawani’ from her upcoming film ‘Tees Maar Khan’.

When asked by reporters here about comparisons of her dance in the superhit number with that of Shakira, she said she can only dream of such comparisons.

‘I can only dream of such comparisons. To be very frank, I drew inspiration from her. If my dance in the song ‘Shiela ki Jawani’ reminds the viewers of Shakira, it’s a huge reward for me,’ said Katrina Kaif, who was in Kolkata with her ‘Tees Maar Khan’ co-star Akshay Kumar Saturday for the promotion of the film.

She was all praises for director Farah Khan and gave her the credit for the grand success of the song.

‘We have worked hard for the song. But the credit goes to Farah and her conceptualisation of the song. She is a brilliant choreographer,’ the actress said.

‘Tees Maar Khan’, directed by Farah, is slated to release Dec 24. It has already hit the headlines for its scorching item song ‘Shiela Ki Jawani’ featuring Katrina.

Asked about her role, Katrina said she is not so bold in the film as it seems from ‘Shiela Ki Jawani’.

‘My role is of an aspiring actress. She is not so very aggressive as it looked in the song. She is very naive and sweet. She is the girlfriend to Akshay in the film. She lands herself into trouble because of her own stupidity. It’s a fun kind of a character,’ the actress said.

The movie revolves around Tarbez Mirza Khan, a criminal played by Akshay, and his girlfriend Anya played by Katrina who gets the job of robbing antiques worth Rs.500 crore from a heavily guarded moving train. The film is an action comedy.
