No item number for Rajinikanth in Talaash

Talaash director Reema Kagti has denied that Rajinikanth is being roped in for a song-and-dance sequence in the movie -- a rumour that has left the legendary superstar's camp flummoxed.

Rajinikanth's associates have informed that he isn't amused with the news either.

Asked if Rajinikanth is turning into an item boy for the Aamir Khan-starrer, Kagti said: "Not true."

In the meantime, the iconic actor is busy with his southern project.

A source said: "At the moment Rajiniji is completely involved with every department of his new film Kochadaiyyan. He is not even looking at doing any other work. He spends all his time with the post-production team.

Rajinikanth's first item number for Aamir Khan @ Rs 15 cr

Is Thalaivar joining the item roll call? The grapevine reports that Tamil superstar Rajinikanth has agreed to appear in an item number in Aamir Khan's delayed project Talaash.

And what might an appearance of this sort by one of India's biggest stars cost? Rumour puts the price tag at a whopping Rs 15 crores, and could be one of the most expensive item songs ever. This will be the 61-year-old Robot actor's first item number.

Besides Rajini sir's fees, the song will cost the production team of Talaash a whopping Rs 50 crore.

If reports are to believed then this item number will be shot at 50 locations across 200 countries and will also feature the who's who of Bollywood, cricket legends and politicians. Talaash, which has been delayed because of Aamir Khan's TV debut, is set to release in November this year.

All in all, this will be one helluva item. We say, mind it!

Katrina Kaif to romance Rajinikanth

Katrina Kaif has bagged the coveted role opposite southern legend Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan, being directed by none other than his daughter, Soundarya.

"It's true. We were very keen on Katrina. Two superstars together from the South and the North would create magic," a very important member of the film's production team revealed to Mumbai Mirror. "We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra, and has assured us of her dates in the next few months."

When contacted, Soundarya confirmed the developments, saying, "Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon."

Katrina, who is busy shooting two back-to-back Yash Raj films - Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan, and an untitled one with Shah Rukh Khan - will accommodate Rajinikanth's dates in between her tight schedule. All other portions of the film have been shot, and only the ones with Katrina remain. Her dates will be worked out soon, and the film will then be complete, the member said.

"In Kochadaiyaan, Rajinikanth plays a king, a devotee of Lord Shiva. His love story with Katrina, their songs, will be shot on an epic scale," disclosed a very reliable source. A R Rahman, who is known to take his time over scores, has recorded most of the music, including the love song to be filmed on Rajinikanth and Katrina. "Rahman is bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score," the source further revealed.

As for Katrina, it will be tough but she really wanted to work with Rajinikanth for the longest possible time, according to a friend.

The first look of Kochadaiyaan, which literally means, "the king with long hair", will be unveiled in the third week of January. Of course, Rajinikanth will sport long flowing tresses for the part... even if it means donning a wig...

All about Kochadaiyaan

» With Rana being postponed due to his illness, Rajini decided to take on his daughter's venture first

» On November 23, 2011, Soundarya posted on her Twitter account : "Look out for an official announcement very soon". And the very next day, she announced her father's next film was Kochadaiyaan. She said:"Grateful and excited to be directing father"

» Anushka Shetty was approached to play the female lead. But an official statement said that the actress was not a part of the venture

» Sneha was reported to be finalised for a supporting role in the film

» It was rumoured that Asin and Vidya Balan were being considered for the female lead

» The film is expected to be shot with the kind of technology used in Avatar

Now SRK flies to Chennai to meet Rajini

Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan is ecstatic at the moment and can’t do much but go ga-ga over Tamil superstar Rajinikanth.
The veteran actor had flown to Mumbai to shoot for SRK’s `RA.One` despite doctor’s advice to take complete rest until November. And now the Baadshah of Bollywood is doing his bit to thank Rajini for making his upcoming film possible.

SRK will be in Chennai today but his meeting with the legendary actor has been kept hush-hush.

Talking to a daily, a source said, “He will be there because his IPL team will be in the city and he will also use this opportunity to pay Rajini a visit."

Even SRK had admitted that he is a big fan and admirer of the Tamil actor. He had said, "I`m a Rajini fanatic. I will definitely pay him a visit at home on my next trip to Chennai.”

“I get goose bumps even as I talk about it," the king of romance added.

Shah Rukh is grateful to Rajini and his family for helping him realize his dream of having the superstar in `RA.One`.

"I just wish I can be as humble as Rajini sir some day. He`s a fantastic human being. He has touched my life in more ways than one," SRK said.

Shahrukh Khan bows down to Rajinikanth's demands

Looks like Shah Rukh can do anything for Rajinikanth, even if it means increasing his film's cost. According to sources, Rajinikanth suggested some changes in RA.One's action scenes and King Khan agreed to him instantly.

“During the filming at Whistling Woods, Goregaon West, RajniKant wanted changes in the action and visuals. These changes will be implemented, but it will take some additional VFX, which in turn will add to Shah Rukh’s costs,” a source informed Mumbai Mirror.

SRK not only agreed to the changes, but he would also implement them exactly the way Rajini wants.

“SRK and Sinha (Anubhav) deliberated on Rajini’s changes for a few minutes. The cost to Shah Rukh and the co-producers Eros International will also increase. But Rajini is a master in special effects, his last film involving special effects Robot was a treat. And so, SRK agreed readily to Rajinikanth’s changes. He told Rajini ‘Sir, it will be done exactly as you say’," added the source.

Hope Rajinikanth's suggestions prove fruitful for RA.One.

Rajinikanth And Shah Rukh Khan finally shoot for Ra.One

The long-delayed moment in cinematic history finally happened when two superstars - Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh Khan - shot together for " Ra.One" at Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods studio.

The mighty Tamil icon arrived with his younger daughter Soundarya who single-handedly made the historic scene possible. The rest of Rajinikanth's family was apparently totally against his one-day break from his sabbatical and the process of recuperation.

In fact, Rajinikanth's elder daughter Aishwarya categorically told this writer a few days ago that the super icon was not shooting for "Ra.One"!

But Rajini did arrive here Sunday with Soundarya and her team of technicians.

In the afternoon, the megastar and his team headed for Ghai's studio and shot the scene amidst an environment of incredible bonhomie.

Shah Rukh then bid goodbye to the semi-ailing Chennai God.

King Khan and his "Ra.One" team later headed straight for the studios to put the scene in place.

"Ra.One" now stands officially complete.

Sound designer Resul Pookutty took time off from post-production of "Ra.One" to describe the "humbling, inspiring, overwhelming experience" of watching the two superstars shoot together.

"The shooting went off like a dream. Watching Rajini Sir and SRK together was indeed a dream come true. The shooting went off so gracefully and with so much finesse. This is truly a great tribute from one superstar to an icon," said Resul.

"The 'Ra.One' team feels the film is complete now after Rajini Sir's shooting. Both Rajini Sir and Shah Rukh in one frame together are like wildfire! They were so comfortable together. It was hard to imagine they had never shot together before," Resul added.

Resul felt the shooting couldn't have happened without Soundrya's support.

"She came to Mumbai with her team to oversee every detail of the shooting. There is no one like Rajinikanth. He proved it when he set aside his health concerns and came to Mumbai on Sunday," Resul noted.

"The 'Ra.One' team can't thank him enough," said Resul adding: "If he had not shot for us, 'Ra.One' would've remained incomplete."

A witness said, "Shah Rukh and Rajini Sir hit it off instantaneously. It was almost like their sequence together was meant to happen."

"Shah Rukh and Rajni Sir were so comfortable with one another. Shah Rukh made the senior superstar so comfortable. There was no doubt that Shah Rukh is Rajinikanth's fan and he didn't hide it on Sunday afternoon as he faced the icon for the camera," the witness said.

Apparently the only other time when King Khan felt so humbled while shooting with a co-star was when he shot with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time, and with that other doyen of Tamil cinema - Kamal Haasan - in "Hey Ram".

Rajini’s family oppose Salman’s move?

Sources in Bollywood say that Salman Khan may star in a biopic on Rajinikanth and this film will be produced by Atul Agnihotri. But it looks like Rajini’s family is not too happy with the idea and they have said that the producer has not approached them for permission to make film on Rajini till now.

It is said that this biopic will begin with Rajini’s early days as a bus conductor and move on to his rise to stardom. Sources in Kollywood say that it is still uncertain if Rajini’s family would agree to the biopic, even if the producer seeks their permission.

1,008 heads shaved in prayers for Rajinikanth

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth will pay homage to his fans who shaved off their heads at the Palani temple in Tamil Nadu for his speedy recovery.

Two days ago, 1,008 men tonsured their heads as an offering to Lord Murugan at Palani temple in Tamil Nadu for the actor's speedy recovery.

The Boss is so touched by the act that he plans to visit the temple soon to pay his respects to the lord and his fans.

A source says, "Rajini sir is feeling much better now. When he heard about these fans, he was overwhelmed by their gesture. He surely plans to go to the temple when he is fit enough to travel."

The admirers, members of various Rajinikanth fan clubs across Tamil Nadu, apparently held a mass head shaving ceremony. They also underwent a 48-day fast before they went to the temple. This is not the first time Rajini mania has unleashed itself in full force.

Before the release of Endhiran (Robot), the same number of women visited the same temple carrying vessels of milk as offering for the success of the film. Interestingly, all their prayers seem to have been answered, as the team of Rana has finally zeroed in on a date to resume shooting with Rajini.

Adds director K S Ravikumar, "I met Rajini Sir and our shooting will begin by October." The film will go on floors on October 3 at Ramoji Studios in Hyderabad, where two different sets of a palace and a ship are already being constructed.

Adds the source, "It is a period film and there are a lot of logistics. This might end up being Rajnikanth's most expensive film. Also, A R Rahman has finished composing four songs for the film and most probably they will resume shooting the song sequences first."

Deepika - Rajni Sir Ko Commitment Kar Di

Rajnikant flies back home without doctor's consent, Deepika to visit him soon

The return of Rajnikanth from Singapore, after a month of treatment and rest, has triggered off a chain of mass hysteria among his fans.

According to sources, the southern superstar was asked to spend some more time recovering in the Asian country but seems like he missed his family and fans too much.

"He missed home. He missed his friends, family and fans. He insisted on returning now, " says a source very close to Rajnikanth.

As the news spread that he is landing in Chennai on Wednesday night at 10 pm, crowds began to flock at the airport and near his residence.

Fans and admirers were seen with pooja thalis and garlands in hand to greet the actor who is considered no less than an idol down south.

Says the source, "It's crazy over here in Chennai. As soon as news spread that Rajniji is returning, all of the city got ready to give him a resounding reception."

While the shoot of Rana won't start before September Rajni's co-star Deepika Padukone has made it very clear to the actor that she'd join him for shoot whenever required. She would also be flying down to Chennai to meet him soon.

Says the source, "Deepika has assured the superstar that she will be there to shoot whenever he's ready to do so."

The actress has in fact been flooded with offers from Tamil cinema after she signed Rana. But she has made a commitment to Rajnikanth.

"She won't do any Tamil film until their film together is completed. This is her way of showing how much a film with India's greatest screen idol after Amitabh Bachchan matters to her, " adds the source.

Rajinikanth doesn't need promotion, but we do: Big B

Rajinikanth doesn`t need promotion, but we do: Big BMegastar Amitabh Bachchan admits promoting films has now become as important as making them. However, he feels there are some exceptions like Tamil megastar Rajinikanth who doesn't require such marketing tools.

"Promoting films has become as important and time consuming as making them!

The element of bringing to notice this vast multitude and inviting them to come and see it within a week, for that is the duration of most films these days, at least as an indicator for their commercial prospects, has now become the yardstick," Amitabh posted on his blog BigB.bigadda.com.

"We never had it in our time and neither were we ever conscious of it. It was left to the producer and the distributor how it needed to be exploited.

But times have changed now. There is greater awareness as far as communication goes; mediums of which have increased a million fold," he added.

The 68-year-old feels that for "lesser mortals like us", promotions are needed to excite audience and get them into theatres.

"Rajini, Rajinikanth never indulges in this practice. The practice of promotions. And on occasion when we talk film informally, he often questions me as to why I do this. It's like selling yourself like a product, he often tells me.

We laugh over it, but I explain to him that he is Rajinikanth, he does not need it. For him, it happens on its own. For lesser mortals like us, we need to excite audiences, to propel them to take interest, to get them into the theatres!!" he wrote

Deepika is not beautiful enough for Rajnikanth

Deepika is not beautiful enough for RajnikanthUnhappy with her look for Rana, Rajnikanth asks for a 'more beautiful' Deepika Padukone

It's Rajnikanth's way or the highway. We just couldn't resist the cheesiness of that statement but it's true.

The Boss has delayed the shoot of Rana, his film with Deepika, by a week.

Unhappy with her look test, Rajni has asked the makers to take some more time to work out a better look. The film will therefore be behind schedule by a week.

A source reveals, "The first schedule was to begin in Chennai.

However, Rajni told director K S Ravikumar that he felt Dippy needed to look simple, yet traditionally beautiful, and that wasn't coming across."

It's different

The source adds, "It's a very different film that spans three different time periods.

Rajni plays a multi-generational triple role and Deepika is paired opposite him in his youth.

Rajni has now asked the make-up team to go back to the drawing board and devise a new look, sending the entire schedule into a tizzy."

Only after Rajnikanth okays Deepika's look, will the shoot commence.

Rajni, the new 'Baadsha' of Bollywood

South Superstar Rajinikanth's film 'Baadsha' will release in Hindi...

Rajinikanth made his mark even in bollywood what with the super success of 'Robot'/'Endhiran'... This has encouraged filmmaker Badrakali Vara Prasad Rao to release the 1990 Tamil blockbuster 'Baadsha' in Hindi.

The movie will be re-worked upon and freshly packaged. There'll be graphics added, and colour correction made to the original.

When 'Baadsha' had released in the South, the makers were keep to remake it in Hindi with Amitabh in the lead. Unfortunately, things did not work out. Now, with Rajni becoming a hot name even in Bollywood, the movie has got a second chance, and the producers are most likely not to give this one a miss.

Vidya to romance Rajinikanth

Actress Vidya Balan to play a part in Rajni's 'Rana'.

There have been a lot of specualtions as far as the female casting of Rajinikanth's 'Rana' is concerned. While Deepika Padukone definitely dumped 'Housefull 2' to be a part of this venture, there were talks that Asin, Madhuri Dixit and Rekha were also offered to be a part f this film at some point in time.

However, Madhuri, it is heard declined to play the part she was offered; Rekha it is heard will romace the older Rajni; Deepika Padukone will romance the younger Rajni; and now it's touted that Vidya Balan will play the love interest of the middle-aged Rajni.

It is common knowledge, that Rajni plays a triple role in 'Rana', and thus three actresses were required to be cast for this multi-lingual fare.

Asin steps out of 'Housefull 2' for Rajni?

Asin, like Deepika Padukone, may ditch Akshay Kumar for Rajinikanth...

It is common knowledge that Deepika Padukone opted out of the Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Housefull 2' to be a part of Rajinikanth's 'Rana'. Asin, was then cast as the lead heroine opposite Akshay Kumar, but it seems, she will soon follow in Deepika's footsteps. Talks have it that Asin, too, has been approached to be a part of the same film – 'Rana', which is to release in three versions – Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Rajinikanth plays a triple role in Rana', and while Deepika will romance one Rajini, Asin, it is being learnt, may romance another. Based on a mega-budget, and co-produced by daughter Soundarya, the makers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that 'Rana' becomes a larger than life project.

On account of this, the makers of 'Housefull 2' (produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Sajid Khan) seem to be facing the brunt. Who will romance the third Rajni in 'Rana'? Are the filmmakers just waiting for the 'Housefull 2' crew to announce yet another lead heroine, whom they can approach? Every time Sajid tires to build this 'house', our dear Rajni seems to be bringing it down.

Action King Rajnikant turns 58 lets say happy b'day

Superstar Rajnikanth, the ultimate "Style Mannan", an icon in the Tamil Film Industry has scaled great heights of success by sheer talent, mannerism, charisma and last but not the least, mass appeal with an immensely loyal fan following.

He may have essayed many villain roles in his early days, but with Thalapathy, there was no looking back for the actor. Annamalai, Basha, Muthu, Padayappa, Chandramukhi and Sivaji proved time and again that none can equal him when it comes to draw ing the crowds back to the cinema halls.

If Apoorva Raagangal was his debut Tamil movie, then success courted him from Billa. A fairy tale it may seem that a villain over the years took on a hero image and then went on to grace superstardom. His forthcoming release Enthiran opposite Aishwarya Rai has already created ripples, way before it release in the theatres.

With power packed dialogue delivery to match his stylized gestures, he has found his way into the hearts of even those who have criticized him. The actor has also performed in many Hindi movies during his acting career. While our dear Superstar Rajini turns 58 this year, we wish him Happy Birthday. We at Oneindia wish him many more years of success and glories to come.

ADMK is against Rajnikant

Source: CeneSouth
This crowd has not been paid to gather here. They come here through affection." This is a dialogue spoken by Rajini in a film. This dialogue seems to find favor with ADMK now.

This angered Sathyanarayana supporters who decided to quit the fan clubs and join ADMK. Sathyanarayana poured oil on the simmering anger of his supporters and this dissent spread to other districts and 14 fan club executives decided to join ADMK. On Rajini's birthday on Dec 12, they plan to have a function for those who are joining the party and give Rajini a shock treatment.

Of recent times, there have been many changes with Rajini's fan clubs. He never meets with his fans generally, but a few weeks back, he met with his fan club executives for discussions. Shortly after, he removed his all India Rajini fan club chief Sathyanarayana, from his post. He appointed his long time friend Sudhakar as the new chief.

This came to the ears of O Paneeselvam who decided to do something to reduce Rajini's power. Now his main aim is to brainwash Rajini fans, or ex-fans as the case may be, attract them to the ADMK party with miniscule posts. So many fans have now been caught in the ADMK net.
