Movie Review: 'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 2' Review: Just be glad this is the last film!

How ironic that a film whose characters can zip across forests faster than deer should be so slow and laborious itself! Breaking Dawn - Part 2, fifth and final installment in the cheesy but immensely popular Twilight movie franchise, is a film unlikely to appeal to anyone but hardcore fans who've been consistently forgiving of its many shortcomings.

Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has given birth to a daughter with husband Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). The film opens with Bella embracing and reveling in the new lifestyle...not motherhood, but vampirism! Converted into a bloodsucker after a rather brutal childbirth in the previous film, Bella is now faster, stronger and hungrier than she's ever been, and even Edward has to keep up with her.

No sooner than they've settled into their new home and enjoyed a few passionate moments, Edward and Bella learn that the Volturi, that feared clan of vampire law-keepers, is headed their way to pick a fight. Turns out the Volturi is convinced Bella's daughter, Renesmee, is an "immortal child" and therefore must be immediately killed. Truth is, since the girl was conceived and delivered while Bella was still human, she's very much a mortal. But because the Cullens aren't smart enough to figure out a way to clear the misunderstanding, they decide to gather their forces and fight the Volturi instead.

Good luck trying to keep awake as you're introduced one-by-one to the dozen-or-so friends, each with a special power or gift, that the Cullens call upon to help them in their stand-off against the Volturi. Of course wolf-boy Jacob (Taylor Lautner) is still around; he's now an ally of the Cullens, and he hangs around all the time like that pesky neighbor who can’t take a hint.

Creepiest of the lot is little Renesmee herself, the root cause of all the problems in this film. The kid (Mackenzie Foy) ages rapidly, and has this strange gift where she can touch your face with her palm and teleport her back-story to you. Her shameless parents encourage her to do this with pretty much everyone she meets...clearly they haven't heard of perverts and child molesters who might enjoy this kind of intimacy!

It's all deathly boring for anyone who's expecting an engaging story or even interesting characters. At best, the climatic battle scene delivers some thrills, but be warned, it's a surprisingly gory finale. The only other truly enjoyable thing in this film is the delicious overacting by its cast, particularly Michael Sheen as Aro, leader of the Volturi, who offers such a hammy performance, it’s hard not to laugh out loud.

Bella and Edward murmur most of their lines to each other softly; you’ll find yourself straining your ears to catch their words…can you really blame them for their embarrassment, given those corny lines! Kristen Stewart appears a little less morose in this film than she usually is – thanks to her new diet, maybe? Robert Pattinson, meanwhile, does much smiling and posturing, but Edward as a character is still such a stiff. Taylor Lautner, built like a Chippendales model, once again gets to take his shirt off, in what is perhaps the film’s most unintentionally funny scene.

Beautifully lit and lovingly filmed by director Bill Condon, Breaking Dawn – Part 2 looks like a 2 hour advertisement. It's hard to empathize with these characters, or fear for them when they’re in trouble, because they're so hollow, and because the actors can't even carry off the silliness of these stories with flair.

I’m going with a generous two out of five for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. For anyone who doesn’t worship the franchise, this is drivel. Just be glad this is the last film!

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart back in magical phase

Actor Robert Pattinson who forgave girlfriend Kristen Stewart for cheating on him has reportedly again entered the romantic phase of relationship with her. Stewart, 22, was caught cheating on Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders.

 "They are not living with each other but they are spending plenty of time with each other and they do sleep over often. Rob usually sleeps over at Kristen's new home in Los Feliz, rather than the other way around," Hollywoodlife.com quoted a source as saying.

"They are in a really magical place right now despite some lingering trust issues on Rob's side," the source added.

The couple started dating in 2008 with beginning of Twilight franchise. They will soon be seen together in the last movie of the series Breaking Dawn 2.

Fame of Twilight, might as well be ex now, cheating girlfriend of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart was spotted looking miserable and glum in LA.

Since news broke of the affair of Kristen Stewart and Robert Sanders, the actress after issuing a public apology to Rob is often spotted in tears and looking glum.

Her LA attire was also low key and dull with fitted denim, a cropped white tee and a baseball cap. Not a hint of smile was on her face as she went on to step into her car.

Robert Sander's wife has plans of getting a divorce, while Robert Pattinson has moved out of their LA pad.

Kristen Stewart refuses to talk about cheating scandal

Kristen Stewart is reportedly refusing to talk about her situation with ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson after being hit by the cheating scandal.

The 22-year-old "Twilight" star, who skipped the London premiere of her new movie 'On The Road', will remain in hiding until next month's Toronto Film Festival.

Stewart will promote her latest flick at the Festival but does not plan on doing an interview to address her being caught having a fling with director Rupert Sanders, reported Radar Online.

"Kristen has been hiding ever since the story of her affair with Rupert broke out and she doesn't plan on breaking that habit just yet," a source said.

"Unlike Rob, who faced the music and threw himself into promoting his new movie 'Cosmopolis', Kristen isn't comfortable with facing a barrage of questions about the

cheating scandal. Her pals have urged her to follow Robert's lead and do some interviews for 'On The Road' just to get it over and done with. The sooner she faces the music, the quicker it will all end and the media glare will fall on someone else," the source added.

Stewart had publicly apologised for cheating on Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders after intimate pictures of her and Sanders emerged.

The film follows struggling writer Sal (Riley) as he embarks on a journey across America with good friend Dean (Hedlund), as their decadent rollercoaster highs and lows are documented.

Meanwhile, Stewart is said to be a 'bag of nerves' about Pattinson's upcoming TV appearance on The Daily Show With John Stewart on Monday.

RadarOnline reports she is concerned she will fall victim to the host's 'sharp tongue' even though she is confident private Robert won't 'trash her' himself.

Twilight, Justin Bieber dominate at Teen Choice Awards 2012

It was recognition time for Hollywood teen sensations with the Teen Choice Awards 2012, held in Los Angeles on Monday. The awards night was high on entertainment with the teen sensations in attendance.

Among the attendees were Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and lovebirds Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez even as the Twilight Saga made the big win. Both Justin Bieber and the Twilight saga hogged the limelight.

The hit film series on supernatural powers has won the maximum with an astounding 41 awards since its launch in 2008, including awards earned this year for the Breaking Dawn - Part 1.

Twilight stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner were at the ceremony to pick up this year's batch of boards as well as the Ultimate Choice Award, which is a version of a lifetime achievement award.

"I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I'm probably going to say pretty much the same thing. I don't know why we haven't got any better at these. I think I don't know if I'm allowed to. Can I give this to the audience? Because, this is really... not that I don't appreciate it. But, thank you guys so much, it's been an amazing five years,” Robert Pattinson said.

Taylor Lautner said, “It's amazing. You guys are still around and just as strong and just as loyal.”

Singing sensation Justin Beiber was understandably excited as he took home the Choice Music Male Artist Award.

“Thank you so much to all my fans. I just want to say, this album has meant the world to me. I spent so much time on it and I hope that it was everything that you guys waited for. I hope that you guys are playing it over and over again,” he said.

Jolting break-up rumours, it sure was a happy day for real life sweethearts Justin and Selena as the latter took home the award for Choice Music Group.

“I'm so embarrassed that my band isn't here. But this goes out for you guys, my band. Joey, Dane, everybody, thank you so much,” Selena said.

There was also the attractive Taylor Swift, who took away the Choice Female Artist award.

“The fact that you guys voted for me for this. This is a really huge award and I'm so excited and I just feel so honoured that I get to have you guys in my life. I'm so happy right now. Thank you so much,” Taylor said.

With so many awards, the shimmer and the stars the teeny award night sure was a huge hit with all the kiddies and the grown-ups alike.

Tomboy Kristen Stewart got 'picked on' for hairy legs

Twilight star Kristen Stewart has revealed that her peers made fun of her for not shaving her legs.

The actress admitted that she was picked and got bullied due to her nonchalant attitude towards grooming.

“Look at a picture of me before I was 15. I am a boy. I wore my brother’s clothes, dude! Not like I cared that much, but I remember being made fun of because I wasn’t wearing Juicy jeans. I didn’t even think about it,” the Daily Express quoted her as telling Vanity Fair.

“But it’s not like I didn’t care that they made fun of me. It really bothered me. I remember this girl in sixth grade looked at me in gym and was like, ‘Oh my God! That’s disgusting - you don’t shave your legs,” she added.

Kristen Stewart: Being a nutcase was fun

Kristen Stewart loved being a "nutcase" on the set of her newest movie, but also appreciated the "big group hugs and cuddles" in between.

The actress stars in fantasy action movie Snow White and the Huntsman alongside Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron.

Kristen loved getting down and dirty for the high octane big screen role, but admits comforting cuddles were welcomed too.

"We're nutcases I think we really loved it," she told the Kyle and Jackie O radio show, before laughingly adding: "Just big group hugs, time for cuddles!" when asked if they got hot blankets in between takes.

 

"There was a sick sort of enjoyment about it, it was wet, cold and freezing but it was like a school camp where you're thrown in it for four months in some obscure location," her co-star Chris added.

Charlize stars as the evil Queen Ravenna in the big screen reimagining of the classic fairy-tale. Kristen loved working with the Hollywood star and she learnt a lot from her on set.

"I found that me and Charlize had a real love/hate relationship and it was good. When we were not on set we got on really well. It's exciting to be around her," she gushed.

Chris was in awe of Charlize's work ethic. The Australian actor says the blonde beauty's approach resonated throughout the whole cast and crew.

"You know when she's on set because it's intense, and I only did one scene with her," he said.

New Poster for Kristen Stewart’s Snow White and the Huntsman

Kristen Stewart has been crazy busy with her promotion of Breaking Dawn Part 1 and filming of Snow White and the Huntsman. They have just revealed a new poster for the movie. In it you see Kristen in a suit of armor, Chris Liam as the Huntsman and Charlize Theron on it. The poster is a nice look at what we can expect from the movie that has gotten much chatter about it. It is currently slated for a June 1st, 2012 release.

I like how they are taking the story and turning it into something different. Brothers Grimm stories were never the sweet, fluffy ones that Disney showed us. They were always meant to have a dark side to them to keep kids in line. I get the feeling that this story will fall much closer to the actual tale written by Brothers Grimm.

Are you excited to see the new take on the classic tale? I am, and I think that this might sort of be like what Tim Burton did for Alice in Wonderland- you know, take the tale and make it unique? I am not concerned that the movie will boring at all. I am sure this new take can even show us a whole new side of the story. I personally cannot wait to see it premiere in theaters next year.

Kristen Stewart defends Bella from criticism

Melbourne: Kristen Stewart has defended Bella Swan, the character she has been playing in the Twilight movies.

The latest instalment in The Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn - Part 1, hits the cinemas this week.

Over the years there has been criticism that her on-screen avatar isn’t a positive role model for young girls, but Stewart disagrees.

“[Bella’s] caught up in something that feels much bigger than her, and she’s in a relationship that’s by no means unequal,” the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.

The Panic Room actress says that Edward is weak-minded and doesn’t think they can overcome the odds against them, but Bella has faith in their relationship.

“… she has faith that it will work out, so I think she’s more courageous than Edward. I understand people think her weakness might be that she’s had to give up her life for him, but don’t you think that’s valiant?”

Criticism for Bella is not the only one Stewart’s faced though. She is often believed to be unapproachable and moody with the paparazzi.

But, she says it’s all about her state of mind at a particular moment.

“It really is about what mood you’re in… If the mood strikes and if you’re feeling unselfconscious that day, you can have fun with it,” she said.

“If you’re having an introspective day or not thinking clearly, it comes across. Then people think that’s who you are all the time,” the actress added.

With all the craziness in her life, Stewart is grateful to have friends and family as her anchor.

“It’s rare for me to do anything that betrays who I am. I feel rooted where I am… I’d have a real problem with selling out and not being myself,” she said.

Twilight actress Kristen Stewart brings back old-school glamour as she poses in a retro bikini for the cover of GQ magazine. The actress is seen reclining on a lounger in a black bikini and the bright red lipstick with curled hair reminds one of the Breakfast at Tiffany's days.

Kirsten Stewart, who had been donning a tomboy look since the time she rose to fame, is all set to undergo a sensual transformation. A testimony to this fact is the November cover of British GQ, where with her new sexy-glam revamp, she finally revealed that she is ready to grow into her womanhood.

Stewart was quoted as saying, "I looked like a boy for a long time. Now I feel like a woman."

The actress will be playing Snow White in an upcoming film. It's believed that Stewart was not initially attracted to the role of Snow White but became interested after realising the new version was a very different take on the classic character.

The film - the first in a planned trilogy - is slated to be released in cinemas next year.

Stewart also appears as MaryLou in the adaptation of Jack Kerouac film On the Road, and stars in penultimate Twilight instalment Breaking Dawn, which will be released in November.

Charlize Theron talks Kristen Stewart, taps into Rage

Charlize Theron is on a two-week break from her evil queen duties in "Snow White and the Huntsman," and is enjoying her time in glamorous, movie-star fashion -- playing video games.

"I'm a bit of a gamer," she told us at Friday night's launch party for the new game Rage, a first-person shooter from Bethesda Softworks. "Not too crazy, but I've been known to game."

Theron served as host for the launch, which staged a full takeover of Chinatown's historic Gin Ling Lane -- vendors, restaurants and booze joints all -- and featured a performance from the Black Keys.

Turning heads in a black tuxedo jacket and tiny cocktail dress, Theron paused to reflect on her current gig as Kristen Stewart's nemesis in the dark retelling of the fairy tale.

"I haven't gotten to work with [Kristen] yet ... it's mostly been me and my kingdom, alone, while everyone is out looking for her," she said. Production will resume in two weeks in London, where the pair will finally go head-to-head.

"We've had one day together, she did some off-camera for me and we got to hang out a little bit. She's super cool and she's going to be amazing in this," Theron said. 

The Oscar winner has been making some interesting choices of late, departing from leading lady fare and catsuit-sporting action leads. In addition to her villainous turn in "Snow White," she'll portray an alcoholic writer of teen books in Jason Reitman's "Young Adult."

Penned by Diablo Cody and set for a holiday release, there's talk that Charlize could be an awards contender come January. 

"More than anything, I wanted to work with Jason Reitman and I thought the material was really interesting. I try not to think about that stuff too much and just respond organically," she said.

Organically responding to the festivities on Gin Ling Lane was George Clooney's current girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, who arrived alone but found some pals to catch up with.

Newly single "True Blood" werewolf Joe Manganiello was on the prowl, hanging with a male pal and saying hello to "Captain America" star Chris Evans.

"Wonder Woman" star Lynda Carter made an appearance, as did Seth Green, John Krasinski and Alessandra Ambrosio. 

A Ministry shout-out to Topher Grace, who cut an impossibly long men's room line by obliging one of the gift shop vendors with a photo, getting him escorted into their private bathroom.

Kristen Stewart Turns Snow White Into Racy Wench (photos)

Kristen Stewart seems to be taking Snow White to places she’s never been in fairy tales.

She was spotted today in medieval dress pulled way off her shoulders like a racy wench.

Kristen has been filming on location in Wales in what is likely to be one of the bawdiest tellings of the beloved fairy tale since it was first told by the Brothers Grimm.

In new photos released from the set earlier in the week, Stewart 21, wears a suit of armor for the re-imagining of the fairy tale.

The first movie stills of her in character were released July 23 at Comic Con showing Stewart as a much darker Snow White, if you can believe it.

They latest candid photos from the set show her with a white horse on the beach, where fight scenes were being filmed.

In a separate interview with French magazine Premiere, Stewart talked about the final days of filming “Breaking Dawn, Part 1 and Part 2,” the last in the “Twilight” series.

Her favorite scene she said, is “the ones the fans are waiting for the most: the wedding, the first love scene, the birth scene.

 

“To finally put them on tape was cathartic,” she said.

She says the final two days of the film were the most poignant.

One where we finished shooting the wedding with the whole crew, this one I was expecting. I knew everybody would go home without really realizing how important this moment was, and then the next day the end of it all would hit us,” she said.

“Later, we met at St Thomas, in the Carribean islands, to do over a scene we sort of screwed up in Brazil. It was only Rob and I, which made the moment even more special.

“We were on the beach, looking at the sun rising. I grabbed Wick Godfrey, the producer who was with us since the begining of the saga, and threw him in the water. It was perfect and everything you could expect from a moment like this one.”

“Snow White and the Huntsman” will hit theaters next year. Walt Disney, who made the animated movie classic, is probably spinning in his grave.

But the film should be nothing if not interesting and Stewart looks ravishing as a wench.

'Breaking Dawn' to Release November 18

The much-awaited fourth and last instalment of the 'Twilight' series, 'Breaking Dawn-The Twilight Saga', is set to hit the screens worldwide Nov 18. 

The first look of the film, produced by Summit Entertainment and starring Robert Pattison and Kristen Stewart, shows the fascinating, eternal love between Edward and Bella Swan. 

Another image shows Jacob (Taylor Lautner) in the foreground, standing proudly with the Quileute tribe and reflecting his agonizing desire to protect Bella.

The first three movies - 'Twilight', The Twilight Saga: New Moon and 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - earned over $1.1 billion.

Kristen Stewart Joins Kate Moss At London Fashion Week

Last week at New York Fashion Week, odd front row pairings were the rage, with Nicki Minaj and Anna Wintour being the strangest coupling we would think of (did you see Nicki's bubble dress?) Well, this week at London Fashion Week, all of the buzz was when the eternally miserable Kristen Stewart showed up at the Mulberry show and was sitting front row with none other than legendary Kate Moss. 

Gawkers in the show and all over the web were perplexed as to what these two could possibly have a chat about during the show, especially when Kristen doesn't really seem to care much about fashion or self presentation at all anyway. But , I have to admit that Kristen's stylists and publicist were doing it right this week, by showing her off with her new dark 'do that she's sporting while filming Snow White and the Huntsmen in London. 

It's interesting to see the blogosphere going on and on about these new BFF's, some even claiming that the girls were laughing, joking and holding hands. Looking at videos though, Kristen looks just as bored and unimpressed as she usually does while Kate Moss is mostly interesting in all of the photos and press she is going leech off of Kristen. I guess it's a win-win for both?

Robert Pattinson Is One Intense Guy: Would Kristen Stewart Agree?

Robert Pattinson and his impressive acting skills have been no secret to Twi-hards who have fawned over their favorite vampire, Edward Cullen, ever since The Twilight Saga commenced. And, most recently, all the buzz has been pointed at Pattinson and girlfriend Kristen Stewart's powerful scenes in the upcoming installment, Breaking Dawn, out in November.

But, aside from the Twilight zone, the British heart-throb has heated up a host of other flicks. They may have not received as much attention, but Pattinson still managed to impress fans, co-stars and directors alike with his talent that's all the more admirable, as it is tempered by his down-to-earth demeanor.

Take Water For Elephants with actress Reese Witherspoon, who became fast friends with Pattinson and had nothing but praise for her co-star. As well, Christina Ricci, Pattinson's love interest in Bel-Ami recently said, "He's great... He's so professional. He comes to set with no expectations or attitude. None of those things you worry someone of his level of fame is going to have."

Now, Cosmopolis director David Cronenberg has showered rave reviews on Robert Pattinson and his performance in that film, a role for which he notably butchered his signature hair, rocking an uneven, half-shaven 'do. Anything for his craft!

According to Hollywood Life, Cronenberg told Vogue Italia, "[Rob is] one of the most intense actors of this generation. He'll blow your mind."

Wow, that is some compliment. No doubt Kristen Stewart would agree, as Pattinson's talent and his passion is probably what she finds as one of his most attractive qualities. Robert Pattinson has long had the reputation for a slightly brooding and intense acting sensibility, making him perfect for Twilight-type roles and winning him countless fans the world over. Now, he's received quite the seal of approval from an influential director, too.

Millions of Twilight fans were waiting for this. Bella Swan finally marries her vampire hero Edward Cullen while Jacob nurses a broken heart. As the book ‘Breaking Dawn’ is divided in three parts, the makers of Twilight series are coming up with two movies, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and Part 2.

So what can the fans expect from the film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn which again brings the teen sensation Kristen Stewart together with the handsome heartthrob Robert Pattinson? Since ‘Breaking Dawn’ is touted to be the craziest installment of Stephenie Meyer’s young adult novel series Twilight, the fans will see their favourite Bella Swan romancing Edward Cullen in an island near Brazil as the book also has a vivid description of their racy Brazilian honeymoon after their low-key marriage.

And what about the terrifying child-birth experience of Bella? Producer Wyck Godfrey talked about the truly horrifying birth sequence, and how director Bill Condon plans to pull it off and still get a PG-13 rating for the film: “With Twilight's core of under-18 fans, it would be a crime against our audience to go R-rated…Having the bloody, bone-crushing delivery be seen only through Bella’s eyes. She is looking through the haze, experiencing pain and everything rushing around her. We only see what she sees.”

The book Breaking Dawn received rave reviews because it’s the most matured of all the installments. It has love, sex, a terrifying climax, and the picture gets bigger with the threat of a vampire massacre towards the end of the story.

 Riding high on buzz

Twilight Breaking Dawn is riding high on buzz. Twilight fans, itching for the first part of the last installment of the franchise, just have a month to go before they get to watch Edward, Jacob and Bella engrossed in a high-voltage Twilight drama.

 

 Release date 

The film is to be split into two parts, the first of which is scheduled for release on November 18, 2011 while the second part will come next year around the same time.

According to the producer, “We basically want to take the audience through the emotional part of Bella's journey as she becomes a vampire. The first part will cover the wedding, the honeymoon and the birth. The film ends just before she embarks on her supernatural transformation. The story will break from her and follow Jacob throughout the course of the movie as he struggles with his own dilemma. The second part is more of an action drama.”

Anyway. What a timely transformation it is. You see, the penultimate installment of vampire-epic-of-joy The Twilight Saga is set to hit our screens later this year in which – gasp! squeal! – Bella and her sparkly hubby are set to DO. IT. We’re talking broken bedposts and feathers flying (uh-huh, it’s gonna be hot) before Bella becomes a blood-guzzler herself. So how fitting that Kristen has finally got her vamp on.

Kristen Stewart, is that you?! It looks like someone finally told the Twilight star that her tomboy style and sourpuss expressions weren't doing her any favours. 

Stewart landed on the cover of W’s coveted September issue, and she looks amazing! (Perhaps she’s relaxed a little since shooting on the franchise wrapped. Pretending to be tortured from a vampire fetus that’s growing inside you must be hard on your psyche – not to mention your skin.)

KStew, who rocks pouty lips, dark eye makeup and a 60’s-style bouffant that makes her look like a cross between Lindsay Lohan and Elizabeth Taylor, is sure to give What Not to Wear’s Stacy London and Kelly Clinton something to toast over pricey martinis tonight. In the article, the actress reveals she’s never been comfortable with her "rough around the edges" style, saying, “I have brothers, and that so-called boyish quality was something that I was deathly self-conscious about when I was younger. I was, like, ‘No, I’m a girl.’ Actually, I’m still embarrassed to say that." 

She may play a vampire-loving human in the Twilight Saga, but she says the fascination carries over to real life. "I f*cking love me a vampire. I was 17 when I read Twilight, and at the time it was so perfect for me. The script was about young kids who think they can handle stuff that they just can’t. And they’re going to do it anyway. Because, why not? Just torture yourself. I relate to that. Vampires are a little dangerous — and we girls like to test ourselves." 

Stewart also dished on Breaking Dawn’s oh-so-secret wedding dress. "Awesome. This was my first wedding. It was insane. And odd. The wedding dress experience was a huge deal. I tried on one version of the dress, and it was like tweak and tweak and alter and tweak and change, and then it’s done. BFD dress. Huge deal." 

While the Twilight Saga has been a big part of Stewart's life, she says that she was more than thrilled to let Bella go. "After that scene, my true final scene, I felt like I could shoot up into the night sky and every pore of my body would shoot light. I felt lighter than I’ve ever felt in my life," she told the mag.
