I will work till I am 90, says Kareena Kapoor

Reigning Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor does not intend to give up her position to anyone inthe industry and insists that she will continue to work till she turns 90.

In Madhur Bhandarkar's much awaited film, Heroine Kareena will be seen as a superstar. The film chronicles thevarious phases, she goes through as an actress -- from aglamorous high life to a tragic downfall.
When asked if she fears that she will have to  make placeof other actress, Kareena said, "I haven't thought of it asyet. And obviously I wish and hope that. I think I will belike Zohra Sehgal who would be working till 90...so toughluck. I am not going to give my place to anyone."

The story of the rise and fall of an actress – there seems to be some similarity between Kareena's yet-to-be-released Heroine and Vidya Balan's hit The Dirty Picture.

On this, Kareena says, "I am not getting into anyone's shoes. I am very much comfortable in my shoes and nobody fitsinto my size. I am not going anywhere. Heroine is not a dirty film...its completely different from The Dirty Picture. It is unfair to compare the two films."

The Dirty Picture was based in 80s and this (Heroine)is a modern day story. TDP was about an item girl, Heroine is about superstar. I have taken on this film because of thescript and not to compete with anyone. I think one should stop making comparisons as it is useless," she said.

Also, Kareena is all set to rock with her latest item song – Halkat Jawani  from Heroine and she asserts that the song is not an answer to Katrina's Sheila Ki Jawani.

"No answer to anybody, don't compare it with anybody. It is mine," Kareena said.

Meanwhile, Bhandarkar was all praise for Kareena. "Kareena has done fabulous job. And I am sure and I hope she gets a national award," he said.

'Heroine is set to release on September 21, which happens to be Kareena’s birthday.

Will Heroine be Kareena Kapoor's The Dirty Picture?

The story of the rise and fall of a leading actress - this could well describe both Kareena Kapoor's still-in-the-making Heroine and Vidya Balan's sleeper hit The Dirty Picture.

Silk Smitha biopic The Dirty Picture fetched Vidya both critical and commercial glory in the form of a National Award and the typically Bollywood-esque tribute of being dubbed the "fourth Khan."
Will Heroine do the same for Kareena? And will she be able to follow Vidya into the no man's land of heroine oriented cinema?

Perhaps it's early days to make comparisons yet, but though Bebo puts her sultriest face forward on the first poster of Heroine, it seems lukewarm next to Vidya's searing appearance on the poster for The Dirty Picture which literally took everyone's breath away when it was released.

Kareena herself calls Heroine a landmark film in her career: "I feel that Heroine is going to be a milestone in my career. I aim to make it one my career-best performances."
Maybe her words prove as prophetic as Vidya's did when she said: "I think the boys are just going to love The Dirty Picture because it is dirty."

Then again, maybe not. Kareena, suddenly struck dumb when it comes to answering questions from the press, seems to be letting the film's first look do the talking. But Heroine's poster hasn't been worth a thousand words thus far.

Looks like it's advantage Balan at the moment, but this will still be an interesting battle of the beauties.

The Item Girl Rakhi Sawant in Bengali remake of The Dirty Picture

If you are one of those who went 'ooh-laa-laa' with the curves and gyrations of Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture, then, be ready for some really hotter-than-hot action, courtesy none other than Rakhi Sawant! The news is that Rakhi has now been signed up to play Vidya Balan's role in the Bengali remake of The Dirty Picture. The film is being directed by Shatabdi Roy and is being produced by Tapas Paul.

Talking about this film, Rakhi said that Vidya Balan has done nothing in The Dirty Picture and that she will do better and hotter scenes in the Bengali remake, so much so that even Vidya Balan will be surprised after seeing her character! While on Rakhi, Tapas said that they had met her recently and had liked her in the item song in the Bengali film Om Shanti. He also added that the hunt for the male lead is still on.

The finishing shot (as always) belonged to Rakhi, who said that the sari is meant to be taken off in films, not worn and that the films become a hit because of this and not because of stars.

We wonder what Vidya Balan has to say to this!

Why was Vidya chosen for Silk Smitha's role?

Vidya Balan was the original choice for the role of Silk Smitha in ‘The Dirty Picture’ and that's because director Milan Luthria wanted an actor with a deadly combination of sexiness and innocence. And, Vidya Balan is the only actor in Bollywood who offers the combo.

Vidya Balan has already proved her mettle with ‘Ishqiya,’ as she managed performing the bold scenes effortlessly. Initially, the actor was conscious to face the camera in a sensual avatar, but finally she was comfortable and director Milan Luthria is happy with the outcome.

He feels Vidya has managed to look sensuous, not vulgar. ‘The Dirty Picture’ is all set to release on December 2.

Vidya Balan is a great actor—Milan Luthria

Playing unconventional roles is nothing new for Vidya Balan and the actress, who has done a complete makeover to portray Silk Smitha in 'Dirty Picture', has apparently received mixed reviews from the audiences.

Vidya has no close resemblance to the late actress and a lot of the viewers who had watched the theatrical trailer of the film felt that the actress’ physical attributes didn’t match up to Silk’s.

However, director Milan Luthria, in a recent interview, stated that Vidya is the only actress who is a great performer and has the looks of a classic Indian beauty that is apt to portray the role of Silk Smitha in the biopic.
Talking about Vidya’s sensuous look in 'Dirty Picture', Milan said that a lot of work had gone into transforming the actress for the role.

Apparently, they had put in a lot of effort to present the actress in a more sensuous way that cannot be deemed vulgar.

"We were looking for a strong performer and not someone who could merely look sexy and Vidya is a great actor. Also, she has the body of a classic voluptuous Indian beauty, something not many Bollywood actresses can boast of. Silk was never pencil thin.

“The fact that she can hold that innocent expression despite being a part of a bold scene is a facet of only great actors. The kind of character that she is playing, someone who has a harsh exterior but a soft inner, isn't easy, but Vidya does it effortlessly," stated the ‘Dirty Picture’ director.

Vidya to go nude

Looks like Vidya, who is making an interesting journey to play different kinds of characters in various films, seems to be grabbing roles that shows her sensuous side.

The actress, who is considered to be a great performer in the industry, has grabbed a new film ‘Enjoy Your Life', where she would have to go nude.

The actress has decided to shed her inhibitions for a scene in the film. The film also has Amitabh Bachchan in an important role.

Tamil producers want to sign Vidya

Vidya’s 'Dirty Picture' has become a talking point in Kollywood. The actress has shed her next-door girl image to bring in the sizzle and sensation of the original sex symbol Silk Smitha.
It’s heard that several producers in Kollywood are waiting to sign the actress after seeing the theatrical trailer of 'Dirty Picture' and her sensuous looks.

Vidya Balan’s lip-lock jinxed?

The much-touted lip-lock between Vidya Balan and Tusshar Kapoor is still yet to be shot for The Dirty Picture.

As one of the men who's close to Silk Smitha, the character that Vidya essays in the film, Tusshar shares a lip-lock with her onscreen. However, while the other scenes have been shot with the two of them, this is yet to be canned. It was supposed to have been shot more than a month back in Hyderabad where they shot most of the film. But a sudden dragonfly attack on the sets, put an end to the shoot.

The kissing scene was to be canned in Mumbai later and it looks like it's still hanging in limbo! Meanwhile, some people in Kollywood are not too sure Vidya can pull off the oomphy Silk Smitha role. It now remains to be seen what the reaction will be to Vidya's 'bold' scenes on-screen.
