MTV Hero Roadies returns with Season 9

The wait is finally over with MTV Hero Roadies season 9 – Everything or Nothing set to hit the television screens on 7th January 2012, every Saturday 7pm only on MTV. Thrill, fun, adventure, guts and glory, MTV HERO ROADIES returns yet again to take you on an adventurous journey through the unventured terrains of America

The judges Raghu, Rajiv, Rannvijay along with the winner of season 8 Aanchal Khurana and Roadies of last season Mohit and Suchit were present in Delhi, to flag off the 9^th season of MTV Hero Roadies today. The new season begins with the Delhi Auditions which had witnessed 10,000+ crowds. The search to pick the deserving participants will then move to Pune making a stop in the city of joy, Kolkata. Then the Roadies bus will halt in one of its most favourite destination Chandigarh, a city that always brings the best characters wanting to become the next Roadies, with Hyderabad as the final stop in the audition.

This year MTV Hero Roadies decides to explore the locales of America and challenge the contestants with some nerve racking and challenging tasks which promise to be even more deadly than the previous seasons. Join Raghu, Rajiv and Rannvijay as they embark on a journey for their quest of an ultimate Roadie.

Raghu Ram, the producer of ‘MTV Hero Roadies 9 – Everything or Nothing’ further added, “It’s amazing to see how youngsters travel from different parts of the country and queue up for the auditions. The levels of energy and fervour displayed are phenomenal and inspiring. This year we come back with a different dose of edgy, limitless Roadies madness.”

This season also introduces “Everything or Nothing” as a motto to thrive on and contestants will participate in each task with vigour and valour to earn their spot in the series. A true Roadie will have to give more than hundred percent, hustle, and fight with every challenged thrown into. They will have to survive the toughest competition and get up after every fall and be the winner and claim to win the ultimate winner and title winner of Roadies.

MTV Hero Roadies through its past seasons has always managed to enthral its audience with striking locations, challenging tasks and the drama revolving around the elimination and wild card entries.  This season will see 13 contestants set themselves on an adventurous journey to prove their mettle and fight it out in the final battle for the title of the ultimate Roadie of Season 9.

Roadies plan to be nice on season 9

There’s not much you can ask these three personalities, who apparently play themselves for weeks at a stretch, on what can today safely be called one of the tube’s most-watched reality shows. Yet, after a thirty-five minute conversation with host Rannvijay Singh, Raghu Ram and his twin brother Rajeev, there are things you discover about the tough-to-crack trio and the upcoming ninth season of MTV Hero Roadies.

 This time for instance, Rajeev insists, the makers have consciously added footage of the hosts being nice to the episodes.

“This nastiness was actually a topic of discussion, so we have put some content that will help people understand us better,” says Rajeev, adding, “It will be a perception changer.”

On another note, we also discovered that Raghu, director and creator of MTV Hero Roadies, hates working on the show.

“It’s terrible, it’s horrible. I can’t even begin to tell you…” he pauses, then he says, “But I love it after it’s done watching what’s been created. That’s the only feeling I work for. While doing it, it’s death. It’s excruciatingly painful. I don’t want to continue doing it.” Really?

“I don’t know, I am not thinking beyond Season 9. People are already talking about season 10. It’ll be the first reality show in the country to have so many seasons, so it is tempting.”

This season, the bikers will head to the US. Currently, the audition episodes are on air. First stop: Delhi. The contestants from that part of the country make the show what it is most of the times.

And everyone knows that, including the makers. Says Rannvijay, who too auditioned in the Capital nine years ago, “First and foremost, it’s their Hindi speaking ability, and secondly, they are okay with saying whatever’s in their head. They don’t think of the consequences.”

Roadies is one of the longest-running reality shows on Indian television. Yet, there is no news of the show being adapted internationally. Raghu feels there’s a problem, but nothing that can’t be fixed.

“The reason I am able to do that is because I am the creator and I have the credibility. For it to go to any country, you have to look for someone, who is a presenter, director, a great casting director, someone who can spontaneously conduct interesting interviews and have a twin brother! I don’t know if there are so many people like that.”

Waqar Zaka asked me to collaborate with him

Videos of Pakistani pop sensation and TV host Waqar Zaka are a rage on YouTube. His sharp interviewing skills and hosting techniques have, on many occasions, been compared to that of Raghu’s.

Interestingly, Raghu reveals, “I know Waqar Zaka. He is in touch with me. He wants me to collaborate with him on a show. I’m only afraid that I might not find the time.”

People invite Raghu and me to yell, abuse

Says Rajeev, “It’s important for Raghu and I to respect the people who we work with. Lot of colleges invite us and are ready to pay money. They ask us to come and shout at them, abuse them, do a Roadies style interview. I say, I can’t deal with you any more, because that is the sum total of what I am in your perception.”

High time format got adapted

Talking about adapting MTV Hero Roadies in different countries, Raghu says, “I don’t know why it hasn’t happened. I know many countries are interested. People get in touch with me, from Pakistan, Bangladesh and inner Asia. I don’t own the rights to the show; I can only put them forward to MTV.”

Delhi girl Aanchal Khurana wins Roadies 8

Anchal Khurana, fresh from her "Roadies 8" win, says it doesn't matter where you studied if you're willing to prove your potential.

"As long as you can prove your mettle, people won't be bothered about the name of your college or school. Real life is about delivering good work. Kaun poochta hai, LSR ya St Stephen's se ho? Koi farak nahin padta kis college se padhe ho. Lekin agar aap aagey jaake kuch ban nahin pate, tab log zaroor poochte hain – kahan se padhaai kari hai? So, why give anyone a chance to say that? Learn to take failure in your stride," says Anchal.

The second girl to win "Roadies" after Parul Shahi, Anchal has reacted to DU's spiralling cut offs because she believes an individual is judged on his/her potential and not an exam score. "To have not scored 100% is fine. I feel no reason for students to get disheartened if they don't get admission in the college of their choice," says she.

Anchal quit a course in hotel management from Chandigarh and completed her majors in Commerce through correspondence from DU. Since that wasn't enough to keep her busy, she enrolled herself in a fashion designing course at Janaki Devi College as well. She tells us that she couldn't continue with hotel management because her mother got her back to Delhi. "I would get into squabbles with people in Chandigarh. Un logon ki soch badi nahin hai. People in Chandigarh don't see girls at par with boys. Like a typical Delhiite, I would retort if anyone would tell me, 'Ladkiyan kuch nahin kar saktin'. Woh keeda kuch kar dikhane ka tha mujhme," she tells us.  

Did she dabble in different career options because she was unsure of herself? "Unsure? Never. I just wanted to do different things. Even though the department where I studied fashion designing wasn't that great, I bagged the best student award in my college. And on the basis of my score, I could have easily assisted a fashion designer. But I couldn't appear for my final year exams because I got selected in "Roadies". I wanted to be a fashion designer to attend page 3 parties and fashion shows," Anchal replies.

Is a career in acting now on the cards? "I have already got an offer from a channel. I'll work on TV till I keep getting good offers." And unlike other aspiring actors who aren't comfortable being a dehati lass, Anchal would grab such an offer if it came. "Who says behenjis aren't cool? Both urban and rural viewers watch shows like "Balika Vadhu" and "Uttaran"."

'Twilight' Director Weighs In On Kristen Stewart's MTV Movie Awards Nods

 

Catherine Hardwicke says a tie would be 'safest solution' for Stewart's dual nominations in Best Kiss category.

Earlier this month, we asked whether "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" would rule the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. Well, that question will finally be answered on Sunday night when the show goes live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles with "SNL" star Jason Sudeikis serving as host.

The third "Twilight" flick is up for eight Golden Popcorn statues this year, and given the series' past record, Twilighters probably don't have to worry too much about its chances. The director of the first "Twilight" flick, Catherine Hardwicke, says she is not surprised that people are still as frenzied about the movies as they were back in 2008.

"Well, I think it's great. I love it that people are so passionate about it and that people are really into it and following the characters," she told MTV News when we chatted with her about the June 14 DVD release of "Red Riding Hood," which she also directed. "I think it's a great tribute, obviously, to what [author] Stephenie Meyer created. ... Rob and Kristen and everybody's been able to just keep it going and keep people loving it all this time, and, of course, all the directors, everybody. I think it's awesome. It's great."

Stewart is nominated in the Best Kiss category for locking lips with both Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson. So which kiss does the director think she should win for? "Maybe it can be a tie? That would be perfect! I think [that's] the safest solution to this problem," she laughed.
