1,008 heads shaved in prayers for Rajinikanth

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth will pay homage to his fans who shaved off their heads at the Palani temple in Tamil Nadu for his speedy recovery.

Two days ago, 1,008 men tonsured their heads as an offering to Lord Murugan at Palani temple in Tamil Nadu for the actor's speedy recovery.

The Boss is so touched by the act that he plans to visit the temple soon to pay his respects to the lord and his fans.

A source says, "Rajini sir is feeling much better now. When he heard about these fans, he was overwhelmed by their gesture. He surely plans to go to the temple when he is fit enough to travel."

The admirers, members of various Rajinikanth fan clubs across Tamil Nadu, apparently held a mass head shaving ceremony. They also underwent a 48-day fast before they went to the temple. This is not the first time Rajini mania has unleashed itself in full force.

Before the release of Endhiran (Robot), the same number of women visited the same temple carrying vessels of milk as offering for the success of the film. Interestingly, all their prayers seem to have been answered, as the team of Rana has finally zeroed in on a date to resume shooting with Rajini.

Adds director K S Ravikumar, "I met Rajini Sir and our shooting will begin by October." The film will go on floors on October 3 at Ramoji Studios in Hyderabad, where two different sets of a palace and a ship are already being constructed.

Adds the source, "It is a period film and there are a lot of logistics. This might end up being Rajnikanth's most expensive film. Also, A R Rahman has finished composing four songs for the film and most probably they will resume shooting the song sequences first."

Rajamouli denies Bollywood news reports

Recently Bollywood news circles reported that Rajamouli is planning to remake Magadheera into Hindi with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead. However, Rajamouli vehemently denied the news and said he has no plans to remake Magadheera into any language.

In fact, Rajamouli has moved on from Magadheera and is currently concentrating more in Eega starring Samantha and Nani. He also announced a high budget film with Prabhas which will start rolling from September. Therefore, the maverick director has no time to spare a thought for Bollywood entry.

After South Indian directors like Murugadoss and Prabhudeva clicking in Bollywood, many of the star heroes over there are eyeing top rated directors of South. And why not, Rajamouli is definitely the man which any star hero will die to work with. But right now, the focus of Rajamouli is only on Telugu cinema.

‘Thambikottai’ neither innovative nor entertaining (Tamil Movie Review)

Film: ‘Thambikottai’;
Cast: Narain, Poonam Bajwa, Prabhu, Meena, Sangeetha, Santhanam, Naan Kadavul Rajendran and others;
Director: R. Ammu Ramesh;
Producer: R.K. Suresh;
Music Composer: D. Imman

‘Thambikottai’ was an important film for Narain, whose last release was ‘Anjathey’ that came about three years ago. It marks his attempt at returning to the action genre, a change from the cop roles he has been doing so far.

The question is, whether the film delivers and makes a difference to the hero who was waiting anxiously, rejecting so many scripts, to try something different? Sadly, the answer is no.

This is the story of Chennai-based brother and sister – Alagiri (Narain) and Shanmughapriya (Meena). While the latter is a lecturer, the former studies in the same college. When she is teased by students, he beats them all up.

The story shifts to the Thambikottai village when Alagiri goes on an NSS camp with his professor (MS Basker) and friends (Santhanam and gang). There, he meets Kanaga (Poonam Bajwa), daughter of a hoodlum-type-rich-man Amirthalingam (Rajendran) who tries to kill government officers who want to repair a damaged bridge that connects the village with the rest of the world.

The villagers suffer because of this.

The village has a connection to Alagiri, his sister and their dead father, Shanmugam (Prabhu).
The script smells of old. The reason behind villain’s resoluteness to keep the bridge unused is quite illogical. The script is lackluster without any interesting twists. There is hardly any brilliant scene to point out.

Narain does his best to portray himself as an action hero. However, he as a college student is too much to accept! He doesn’t look the part. Secondly, his action sequences do not help him. It’s time an actor of his calibre should start looking at better scripts to pep up his career

Poonam is charming and convincing as the village belle and Aarthi and Santhanam do add some light moments.

The one performance which stands out is that of Sangeetha, who lives the role of the lady don. Though her character is larger than life, she has played it to the best of her ability. Her villainy could have been better utilized in the script.

Meena, Prabhu and Rajendran do their best.

The music is nothing to write home about, though the songs are peppy and suit the different situations. ‘Thiruvizha’ is a foot tapping number.

Vikram and me or different : Vijay Ilayathalapathy

Our Ilayathalapathy Vijay is very particular that the films he does are all larger than life mass entertainers.He makes no bones about it that he does only formulaic films that cater to the taste of his fans. Vijay in an interview said that he does not want to do “something different or try out challenging roles”, as his focus is only the Box-Office

Recently, when the Ilayathalapathy was asked why he doesn’t choose challenging roles like Vikram, the actor spoke his heart on the issue. “I’m not someone who’ll walk the extra mile for a challenging role. I don’t want to play risky roles because that’s not what my fans want from me. All that they’re looking for is clean entertainers, and that’s my forte,” explained the actor.

Action King Rajnikant turns 58 lets say happy b'day

Superstar Rajnikanth, the ultimate "Style Mannan", an icon in the Tamil Film Industry has scaled great heights of success by sheer talent, mannerism, charisma and last but not the least, mass appeal with an immensely loyal fan following.

He may have essayed many villain roles in his early days, but with Thalapathy, there was no looking back for the actor. Annamalai, Basha, Muthu, Padayappa, Chandramukhi and Sivaji proved time and again that none can equal him when it comes to draw ing the crowds back to the cinema halls.

If Apoorva Raagangal was his debut Tamil movie, then success courted him from Billa. A fairy tale it may seem that a villain over the years took on a hero image and then went on to grace superstardom. His forthcoming release Enthiran opposite Aishwarya Rai has already created ripples, way before it release in the theatres.

With power packed dialogue delivery to match his stylized gestures, he has found his way into the hearts of even those who have criticized him. The actor has also performed in many Hindi movies during his acting career. While our dear Superstar Rajini turns 58 this year, we wish him Happy Birthday. We at Oneindia wish him many more years of success and glories to come.

Sonia Agrawal is back after marriage

Sonia Agarwal debuted in the Tamil film industry with Kadhal Kondein in 2003 and went on to act in quite a number of films including 7G Rainbow Colony and Thiruttu Payale. The actress went into a short hibernation following her marriage to director Selvaragahvan who introduced her to Kollywood.

However, the actress in her seemed to have still remained intact and probably this could be the reason behind her role Radhika in Naanal. Naanal is a tele serial written and produced by Kushboo Sundar. This mega serial will be telecast from December 15th in Kalaignar TV.

ADMK is against Rajnikant

Source: CeneSouth
This crowd has not been paid to gather here. They come here through affection." This is a dialogue spoken by Rajini in a film. This dialogue seems to find favor with ADMK now.

This angered Sathyanarayana supporters who decided to quit the fan clubs and join ADMK. Sathyanarayana poured oil on the simmering anger of his supporters and this dissent spread to other districts and 14 fan club executives decided to join ADMK. On Rajini's birthday on Dec 12, they plan to have a function for those who are joining the party and give Rajini a shock treatment.

Of recent times, there have been many changes with Rajini's fan clubs. He never meets with his fans generally, but a few weeks back, he met with his fan club executives for discussions. Shortly after, he removed his all India Rajini fan club chief Sathyanarayana, from his post. He appointed his long time friend Sudhakar as the new chief.

This came to the ears of O Paneeselvam who decided to do something to reduce Rajini's power. Now his main aim is to brainwash Rajini fans, or ex-fans as the case may be, attract them to the ADMK party with miniscule posts. So many fans have now been caught in the ADMK net.

Sameera reddy is ready to rock kollywood in "Vaaranam Aayira"

Sameera Reddy has made a big impact with her first Kollywood movie Vaaranam Aayiram opposite Surya. It’s a breathtaking movie that everyone should see and Sameera has received extensive critical acclaim. The film also stars Simran and Ramya.

Part of the movie was made in San Francisco. What are her memories of that? “It was very cold but we had a great time shooting there. It was during that time, that Surya had a baby and he was shopping like mad for his little daughter.”

How did Sameera find working in Tamil? “When I first came to Chennai for the shoot, I heard the language and thought it was pretty difficult. I used to write down my lines and learn them before every shot and it was like going back to school.”

Sameera has a number of Bollywood movies in her past including Musafir, Darna Mana Hai, Taxi No.9211, No Entry, Race and One Two Three. She is currently filming Naam. However, her heart is in the South and she is looking forward to being in Yeh Khosla, Surangani and Dan Dana Dan in the near future. Surangani is said to be loosely based on the Monica Bedi affair with Sameera taking on the role of Ragini, or ‘Monica’.

The film industries in the South are slowly getting better at tapping into the NRI market and VA will be released this weekend simultaneously in twenty American cities. In addition, in another sign that film iconography is developing in a multimedia context, Sameera has signed an agreement with Nazara Technologies to allow them to develop mobile content based on her image – the agreement will see Nazara develop wallpapers, ringtones, games, competitions, video clips and fiction all using Sameera’s voice and image – she has in effect just become a brand.

R Madhwan is loosing weight to look perfect in 3 Idiots

After Abhishek Bachchan who has lost 14 kgs to look like Mani Ratnam's on -the-run fugitive in his new film, it's Mani's earlier favourite Madhavan who is required to undergo a physical melting-down.

The interpretation of that instruction has been left to the individual actors. Says a source, "Aamir will lose some of that aggressively muscular look that he has acquired for Ghajini. He needs too look leaner and more athletic, as he did in Dil Chahta Hai. Playing a student at 40-plus won't be difficult for Aamir. He has done so in Rang De Basanti with great success. Sharman doesn't need to lose any weight. He looks completely in character. Madhavan needs to look more toned."

And it's not for the love of Mani. It's for Raj Kumar Hirani. Apparently, Hirani has asked all his three leading men Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan to "look like IIT students."

Madhavan who has temporarily shifted base to Mumbai to seriously pursue a career in Hindi cinema, has taken off for two weeks to Ashford in the UK to work on his physique for the role in 3 Idiots.

Speaking from London Maddy says: "My sister lives here in Ashford and there're very good health clinics here. Whenever I need to change around my metabolism or rework my physique for a role I head for Ashford. And at the moment I'm re-working my physique to look like a student. "

"It's not about looking thinner or younger. All three of us need to look convincing as IIT students. How we choose to do so has been left to us," says Madhavan. Madhavan returns in two weeks to resume the shooting of Teen Patti, which got suspended when the Big B fell ill.

A time -frame has been set for each of the actors to get into the shape they think right for their characters.
