It's raining lavani numbers in Bollywood. After Katrina Kaif's Chikni Chameli and Vidya Balan's Mala Jau De, Chitrangada Singh will sizzle on screen with her first lavani item song Kafirana from Joker.
Chitrangada gyrates to the beats of dhol as she dances to I Wanna Faqat You. The song has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan.
The film's director Shirish Kunder tweeted the song:
The item number, which was leaked online before its official release, is a visual treat for all Chitrangada fans, who have seen the talented actress in de-glam avatars including Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi.

Chitrangada still struggling to get over 'Geeta Rao' of 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi'
Mumbai: Actress Chitrangada Singh, whose performance in her debut film 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi' was acclaimed by critics and audience alike, says even after nine years she is struggling to get over her character of Geeta Rao.
"I don't know if I have still managed to make people forget Geeta Rao and remember another character that I have played," she told reporters here Monday at the launch of the Indian issue of Vogue magazine.
"...I am still kind of struggling to get over it and make people remember me by something else that I have played. I think it's still the most special one," added the actress who has also featured in 'Sorry Bhai', 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' and 'Desi Boyz'.
Chitrangada, who took a break after her first film to start a family with golfer-husband Jyoti Randhawa, says that being an actress was never her ambition.
"I started with something like that and I didn't plan my Bollywood career. I did not want to be an actress, never thought I would be here. It came my way and it just went off really well," said the 35-year-old.
Talking about her upcoming films, she said: "My next release is 'I, Me Aur Main' which has John (Abraham) and Prachi (Desai) with me in the film. It is about a woman who kind of realises the man is not quite committed to the relationship and what does she do about it."
"My second film is actually a very strange love story. It is opposite Arjun Rampal and directed by Sudhir Mishra. It is set in a sexual harassment case but it's about two people who have been in love but are now stuck in this case and what happens to them and their life."
Mishra has already praised the chemistry between Arjun and Chitrangada in his yet to be titled film.

Chitrangada Singh turns item girl for 'Joker'
First she opted for a glamorous role in "Desi Boyz" and then she gave a nod to an item number. Actress Chitrangada Singh, otherwise known for serious roles, surprised all and sundry last year and says the response has been encouraging.
"I really hope 2012 turns out to be a year full of surprises for me, and surprises spring after one another. I am really happy with the kind of response I received for my work in 'Desi Boyz'. It was really encouraging and I am looking forward to more good work this year," Chitrangada told IANS.
The dusky beauty, who will be seen on an upcoming episode of UTV Stars' "Superstar Santa", made her Bollywood debut in 2003 with "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi", and was subsequently seen in films like "Sorry Bhai!", " Basra" and "Yeh Saali Zindagi".
"Desi Boyz", which also featured Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, was a radically different project for her. Nevertheless, she loved it, and the audience loved her in it too.
No wonder she feels her fans will appreciate her item song in Shirish Kunder's 3D project " Joker".
"The item song was hard, we rehearsed for it a lot and it has turned out to be fabulous. It is not into-the-face, the music is very catchy and the choreography by Farah (Khan) is very sensuous. It was great fun doing it," said the 35-year-old.
In 2012, she is looking forward to "I, Me Aur Main" with John, and Sudhir Mishra's film with Arjun Rampal.
"'I, Me Aur Main' is going to be a great film. John is fantastic in it. It is an emotional, yet comedy film about a man, his relationships, his busy life in a metro city...it's basically about men. The film was a lot of fun and has a lot of drama," she said of the movie, expected to release within the first quarter of the year.
"Sudhir's film is about sexual harassment, it is about a woman's ambition in the workplace and how that is curbed...so it's an interesting script, and I am extremely excited about it," she added.
In the meantime, she has had to turn down an offer to work with Kamal Haasan, who had reportedly contacted her for a role in his Hindi-Tamil bi-lingual "Vishwaroopam". But she had to refuse as the dates clashed with those she kept aside for Mishra's film.
"I had to refuse the offer. I would love to work with him (Kamal), he is a legend to work with," said the actress.
On the small screen, Chitrangada says she loved playing Santa for a bit, on the show "Superstar Santa", where celebrities play peacemakers between two common people.
"Santa is too big a role to play. But it's always nice when as celebrities, we can do something for common people," she said.

Revealed: Chitrangda's bold bedroom scenes details
Chitrangda Singh will be seen doing some bold bedroom scenes in Prakash Jha's next opposite Arjun Rampal. However, the scenes in Jha's flick would not titillate but instead add to the film's effect which revolves around the theme of sexual harassment at the workplace. No fears A source reveals, "Chitrangda and Arjun haven't worked before, and both plan to sit down and discuss the scenes before shooting them. However, neither of them had any apprehensions since the script of the film demands the same. In the past, Chitrangda was offered steamy scenes in other movies, but she declined because she wasn't convinced they were an intrinsic part of the story line." Both Arjun and Chitrangda have shot lovemaking scenes in the past in their films. "They both understand the demand of the script. There was no hesitation from their part as Jha is known to treat every subject aesthetically." With John too! Chitrangda Singh will also be doing some steamy scenes with John Abraham in Shrishti Arya's next as reported 'No Kiss Miss Misses Out' (Hitlist, May 3) as Prachi Desai refused to lock lips with Johnny boy. |

If salli is addhi gharwali, Dever is addha gharwala: Chitrangada Singh
Source: Bollywood Hungama
Just a day to go for the release of Sorry Bhai and Chitrangda Singh is caught in a nervous yet jovial mood. She admits about all eyes being set on her comeback, especially since there were loud cries when she announced her premature 'alvida' to Bollywood after Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi and Kal - Yesterday and Tomorrow. However, she understands that Sorry Bhai would be a different project since now audience is aware about her existence.
Chitrangda, barely 24 hours to go. Feeling Terrific? Terrible?
I think more than the audience, I myself have great expectations because of the comeback factor
And then you waited for years before making a comeback with Sorry Bhai. Weren't you shocked by the subject though, that of a woman falling for her finance's brother?

Chitrangda, barely 24 hours to go. Feeling Terrific? Terrible?
I can't tell you because I myself don't know. I can't sleep as I am thinking about the film very moment. I think more than the audience, I myself have great expectations because of the comeback factor. When Hazaaron...' happened, I just walked in for the release as I didn't know what to expect. Even though it was my debut film, I didn't feel anything at all. In fact I remember that at that time, I was more worried about what I would be wearing for the release event than the audience reaction.

For centuries, there is a saying that 'Saali aadhi gharwali hoti hai'. So today, why do we shy away from saying that 'Devar matlab aadha gharwala'? Why not talk in equal terms. I know that the moment a female says something like this even in a joking way at home, she would be reprimanded. And then we talk about woman empowerment! In any case, we have showcased the entire dilemma in a lighthearted manner. Even the film's punchline says that 'Come Fall In Love With Your Brother's Bride'!
From your earlier heavy-duty films, Sorry Bhai would have come across as a welcome relief?
From your earlier heavy-duty films, Sorry Bhai would have come across as a welcome relief?
Definitely, this was some kind of relief. In fact even when I did my first two films, a lot of people were asking me if I would continue to keep doing stuff like that. Why just me, no actor would want to do the same thing time and again. It all becomes mundane and I also wanted to do something lighter where I didn't have to stress myself; something which isn't too high on emotions. I wanted to be a part of something which is fun and nice. I wanted to be a part of something which is fun and nice.
And was that the reason you didn't sign anything for such long time? Were you getting all intense roles to portray?
No, that was not the case. In fact I had cut myself completely. It was last year when I finally decided that I wanted to get back to films and started thinking of calling up people. Coincidentally, Onir called up around the same time and narrated the script. I was itching to get back in front of camera and since I knew about the two films he had done (My Brother Nikhil and Bas Ek Pal), I was game.
But why Onir?
But why Onir?
Onir told me that Sorry Bhai was a light fun family film but again dealing with a delicate subject. I guess it was the perfect combination that I was looking for. So you know, it was not really planned that I was saying no to all heavyweights and suddenly said yes to him. It all just fitted in well at the right time.
Onir hasn't quite tasted commercial success. Weren't you worried?
Onir hasn't quite tasted commercial success. Weren't you worried?
I am a bit impulsive when it comes to making decisions and I wasn't worried about Onir's record. I want to do certain characters and whether I select them right or wrong, I stand by my decisions. I go by my gut feelings. Moreover, regardless of the way his films may have done at the box office, they had some sensibilities of their own. I like the fact that he does something different every time. Moreover, the moment I got to know about the film's cast with people like Shabana Azmi involved, I knew for sure that this was going to be my comeback film.
There are some odd people who have morality issues with the way things should work in real life
So after all the hype and hoopla, the real test comes in the form of the final product. Sorry Bhai has gone through some private screenings for celebrities and friends. How have the reactions been?

It may sound cliched but the fact is that people have liked the film immensely. My performance has been appreciated and what gladdened me most was to get a message from Raju Hirani. He felt that I was being quite natural in the film and even went on to suggest that I now start keeping a date diary handy. That was such a nice thing to hear because here I was so insecure and nervous while someone of his stature was impressed by my work. Really, my day was made!
There must have been some brickbats too?
There must have been some brickbats too?
Of course yes. There are some odd people who have morality issues with the way things should work in real life. But that's ok; people should have a difference of opinion. This is the very reason the film has been made so that we can tell our point of view.

Chitrangada Singh Like romance with Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on screen
Source: Zoom TV
Chitrangda Singh is back. And this time the Delhi-based actress — who quit the industry three years ago — is here to stay and that too in aamchi Mumbai. “Yes, I’m busy house-hunting. I’d love to get a sea-facing house in Bandra. Sea-gazing is a luxury I can’t afford back home,” said the actress over a quick chat. Her resemblance to Smita Patil is uncanny. And with equally powerful performances to back that up, it isn’t surprising that Chitrangda got compared to the yesteryear actress.
"Being compared to Smita is the best compliment an actress could get. I never expected such a positive response from critics and cinegoers, especially since I’m also married – a fact I was warned would not work in my favour,” said Chitrangda. So what made her take that break when she was being touted as the next Smita Patil? “It didn’t have anything to do with my married life,” she clarified, dismissing rumours of trouble in her marriage to golfer Jyoti Randhawa. “It’s just that after Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, things moved too quickly, I couldn’t understand the industry’s fast pace and got cold feet.
I felt like Alice in Wonderland. There was suddenly so much work coming my way that I didn’t know how to handle it.” However, this time she’s prepared to pay the price that comes with being a Bollywood actor (constant speculation about her private life). “People can say what they want, but there’s no room for gossip between Jyoti and me. As for the long distances taking a toll, Jyoti’s schedule keeps him out of country for almost nine months so I’m sure we both can manage to steal a few weeks when he’s in the country,” she smiled. She talked about her comeback with Onir’s Sorry Bhai.
“I think comeback is too harsh a word, I prefer to consider it as a new beginning instead. In the past three years I realised that acting is my passion and that is what I really want to do. My family, as always, urged me to go for what I believe in. Today I am more sure of the kind of work I want to be associated with and Sorry Bhai seemed like the perfect way to begin,” said the actress who also has Sudhir Mishra’s Aur Devdas in her kitty and several other projects lined up. “I’m game for all genres. But I would really love to be romanced by Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan on screen.”
