Bollywood Insider: Shahrukh, Kajol to come together in Karan Johar's next

Karan Johar, who is very close to both Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, has asked Shahrukh and Kajol to do a small role in his next movie Student Of The Year.

Karan Johar considers Shahrukh Khan and Kajol as his lucky mascots. A source told a leading daily, "For the cameo, Kajol will be attired in a long, black glamourous outfit. Karan has always considered Kajol and Shah Rukh as his lucky mascots. So this time too, for his film Student Of The Year, he wanted Kajol to do a special appearance and she readily agreed."

In the past also Kajol did cameos in Karan Johar's superhit films like Kal Ho Na Ho and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.

Alia Bhatt, daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, son of director David Dhawan, newcomer Siddharth Malhotra and Boman Irani's son Kayoze Irani are making their acting debut with Student Of The Year.

Karan Johar Giving Katrina Kaif a Ferrari for ‘Chikni Chameli’ Cameo

Katrina Kaif has impressed producer Karan Johar so much with her "Chikni Chameli" turn that he has just increased his film “Agneepath’s” budget by Rs. 22.5 million or thereabouts. Correction: he has reduced his margin of profit earned for selling the film for that amount.

And how’s that? Well, KJo was so touched by Katrina for her not charging money for the cameo that he has decided to gift her a Ferrari sports car. The cup of generosity surely overfloweth, right?  For Katrina, it’s a super entry into Dharma Productions, probably the only top banner that had not signed her till now. 

Things at Dharma too are sure changing: Emraan Hashmi has been signed for one film, Pritam for another. It’s a studied movement towards mass appeal-friendly elements.

Cameos are always tricky things, especially if made by top stars for a song-and-dance number. Most such appearances are done gratis, like Mumtaz’s turn for good buddy Jeetendra in the hit “Tik tik tik” in his home production “Humjoli” 41 years ago.

Of late, the trend is for the producer to gift the cameo artiste something that is worth lakhs, but KJo has crossed that benchmark.

Karan Johar's book to reveal juicy Bolly secrets

Karan Johar is all set to don the garb of an author. He plans to write a book on his friends from the film industry. It is interesting to know that he wants to pen down the secrets of his equation with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan and wants the book to get published posthumously.

In an interview with Simi Gerewal in the show India's Most Desirable, he said: "One day I will write a book and will keep it with somebody and will only allow it to be published after I'm dead." When asked why he wants the book to be published after his death, he said: "That is because of some insane incidents that are going to be in that book." Karan is clear that his equations are different with Salman and Shah Rukh. SRK's enemies are not his foes.

"I have known Salman's family ever since I can remember. So I can't look through him or not acknowledge him or not wish him because he has a problem with Shah Rukh. I will have the same level of regard and respect for him no matter what. And he was a part of my first film, how can I forget that? So we have the same equation that we did before this fallout. I have my individual relationships with people."

On a lighter note, Karan blames his mother Hiroo Johar for his bachelorhood. "She doesn't want to! It's all an act! In fact all the girls I have in my life or my friends always like staking claim on my mother's jewellery. My mother says 'I'm very worried that all these girls want my diamonds." Nothing is coming anywhere. She is Sindhi you have to know that. Nothing is arriving," Karan joked.

Paris Hilton to reveal all to Karan Johar

Hollywood hottie Paris Hilton is coming to Mumbai shortly. Her plans are a closely guarded secret, but BT has learnt that the international socialite will be interviewed by Karan Johar for his TV show.

We hear KJo will be griling the 30-year-old when she comes to India next month. Apparently, she wanted to be interviewed by someone of a certain standing, and her agents did their homework and zeroed in on Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan as the biggest celebrity show. A few calls were made and Karan was contacted. KJo agreed to interview her, but the fourth season of his show has already wrapped. However, since she was keen, he asked the channel if they would be interested in shooting a special show with the American heiress. Given her international celebrity status, they jumped at the opportunity.

The host will have enough to ask Paris, controversy's favourite child, whose love life is often in the news. The great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, founder of Hilton Hotels, she first came into the limelight in 2003 when an ex leaked their sex tape. Since then, she has become famous just for being famous, and dabbled in a number of things - a few acting gigs, a music album, and the TV show The Simple Life. In recent years, she has starred in a number of reality shows like Paris Hilton's My New BFF and The World According To Paris, among others.

She has also had her fair share of brushes with the law and served a widely publicised sentence in a Los Angeles county jail in 2007.

Salman Khan refuses Karan Johar's film

Karan Johar's dream of doing a solo film with Salman Khan stands unrealised as of today.Post Dabangg, Karan and so many others have been wooing Salman to do a solo hero projectfor their banner. 

Karan shares a warm equation with the Galaxy Khan just as he does with the Mannat Khan(Shah Rukh) and he has been making visits to Salman's home say sources.

In fact he even sent Rensil D'Silva who directed Kurbaan to Patiala to give Salman a narration for a film to be made for Dharma. However it is said that Salman reportedly didn't approve of the script.

Salman didn't say so in so many words. However Bollywood's hero No 1 confirmed that next year he have Ek Tha Tiger and Sher releasing. He is also likely to start shooting Dabangg-2 from January and may follow it up with Kick.

In other words Salman has no dates to spare for Rensil. Incidentally Salman did an interesting cameo in Karan Johar's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where he plays Kajol's fiancee.

Post that he hasn't found time for another Dharma project.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham sequel soon

Karan Johar has confirmed a tabloid that is, in fact, trying to make a sequel to the hit 2001 Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. The rest will be presented in the original cast - Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor.

"It's a viable idea. I'm not opposed to it. It would be a brave, if I do," Karan says Mumbai Mirror.

The cast is also all excited about the sequel.

"It's very strange. But all six core members of the cast is so dear to me now as they were 10 years ago when I made the film. I'm sure they are also charged for the sequel, as I am, "said Karan, after unveiling his plans about the sequel.

The idea was planted in his head, one of them.

'Big B made him understand that a suite was not only possible but desirable. Mr. Bachchan also said that Karan could not remove it, "said a source at the tabloid.

Amitabh Bachchan has finally looks his way. 69-year-old actor has already blogged about how he would like to see Raichand family saga, would be carried forward. Recently it was shown that the sequel would be to examine the brothers' life after the split.

"And 'the story of brothers and growth problems that arise in their self-understanding and operation of the business empire, the father of a split in them, and so on ..."

It may be that the Big B's request led him to abandon the idea further. But what could be more attractive is the fact that the sequel, as a double Dhamaal, Murder 2 and Golmaal have done much better than most of the original films.

We will wait to see if they can remove Raichand family again.

 

Katrina is ex-rated!

Katrina Kaif believes in keeping her friendships with her men alive long after the romance is gone.

Constantly rated as one of the world's hottest women, Kat is also a very diplomatic person.

She is the one who actually initiated a conversation with Kabir Khan, making sure he casts her with Salman Khan in Ek Tha Tiger though her personal relationship with Salman is over.

Likewise now she is trying to ensure that she and Ranbir Kapoor (her other ex) also do Ayan Mukherjee's next for Karan Johar.

A source says, ``Karan has not signed Katrina for this project. In fact Ayan is currently in Simla writing the film. However Kat has got Ayan to make a verbal commitment to her and leaked out information saying that she is the girl that Ayan has chosen to team up with Ranbir so that all speculation on whether girls like Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma may make it to this project opposite RK Junior are nixed.''

Apparently Deepika is still very much in the running for this film; till Kat signs on the dotted line, one can never tell.

Also Kat's dates are choc-o-block reportedly. She has six to seven outdoor shoots with Salman for Ek Tha Tiger and in November she will start Yash Chopra's next with Shah Rukh Khan. The film also has a second leading lady.

Ayan also wants to go on floors this November. In which case Kat will have to juggle her dates diary quite a bit to accommodate

this film. However Kat who sees it as a personal triumph that she is able to do two movies with her two exes is ensuring she finds her way into the Ranbir Kapoor project.

Incidentally Ranbir and Kat had not exchanged a single word after their break up a few months ago.

But a personal friend says, ``Both are now on talking terms. They started talking after three months.'' Guess it is all preparation for a normal atmosphere on the set if and when Kat signs Ayan's film.

KJo signs Robin Slater for Agneepath

Karan Johar has thrilled for two reasons: one, about remaking Agneepath, a cult classic that his father Yash Johar made and two, about signing Hollywood make-up artist Robin Slater, who happens to be a two-time Oscar nominee.

Slater will design the look for both Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt in the remake. Slater is not new to Bollywood though. Our source said, "Robin has known Karan for some time now. She also worked on SRK's look in My name Is Khan."

The late Mukul S Anand directed the 1990 original, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty and Danny Denzongpa in the lead roles. The remake will be directed by Karan Malhotra and is already on floors.

The source added, "To design a special look for Vijay Deenanath Chauhan's character and that of Kancha Cheena's played by Hrithik and Sanju respectively, Robin was chosen again."

Apparently, Slater is currently in Mumbai and is working on both Hrithik's and Sanjay's looks. And guess what? Both their looks will be very different from the looks sported by Amitabh Bachchan and Danny in the original.

The shooting has already begun, they say, but the looks are being kept under wraps.

When contacted, Karan Malhotra, the director of the film, confirmed the news and said, "Yes, Robin Slater is on board." However he refused to divulge any further details about the looks of the cast.

Robin Slater has been the make-up artist for many Hollywood blockbusters, including Just Married, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Planet of The Apes and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas apart from others.

Dia Mirza is in demand

Everyone in Bollywood is in a mood to sign up for a film with Dia Mirza. No, the actress isn't paying handsome remunerations. However, she has a bag of goodies that looks like Karan Johar's Koffee with Karan gift hamper accompanying the cheques being sent out to the actors who will be there in her home production.

Dia feels sending the gift hamper with the cheque just adds a thoughtful touch to the whole signing business. "Sending just a cheque is not a warm gesture," she smiles. "Since it is Zayed's (Khan), Sahil's (Sangha) and my first production, we want to add a personal touch to the whole business.''

Deepika, Katrina patch-up at Kjo’s party

Ranbir Kapoor’s ex Deepika Padukone and his present girlfriend, Katrina Kaif mended differences at Karan Johar's party. The two ladies had been in no talking terms for a long time but recently at Karan Johar’s bash, Deepika took the initiative of extending olive branch to Katrina.

On spotting Kat at the party, Dippy went ahead and talked to her. She told Kat to forget the past as she has moved on in life. Kat replied that she is happy that she spoke to her.

Throughout the party, the duo looked very comfortable and enjoyed the party with their respective boyfriends, Ranbir Kapoor and Siddharth Mallya.

‘Agneepath’ Gets A Romantic Makeover In Karan Johar’s Hands

1990 film Agneepath is being remade, and how! Karan Johar, who says he is making the movie with his dad Yash Johar had originally made as it had bombed at box-office then, has promised more drama than action in the movie.

Karan says that the relationship between the lead actors in the movie Amitabh Bachchan and Madhavi will be the focus this time. And it will get hotter with Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra abiding by Karan’s wishes to create some hot chemistry for the screen.

Karan had seen the making of the original movie as a kid and thinks that there was some smouldering chemistry between the lead pair then. But then times have changed and he wants to show it by even more bolder scenes this time. This time around Priyanka will not be the nurse which Madhavi had played in the flick originally.

The movie seems will be an adult one. Many are comparing this with the kind of rapport Hrithik and Priyanka had shared for Krrish. While Krrish involved making children’s movie under a science-fiction theme, Agneepath is a piece of history which needs to be ignited again!

Kelly, Dino not invited to Lara’s wedding

Lara Dutta in Karan Johar’s talk show, ‘Koffee With Karan’ said that she is still friend with her ex-flames, Kelly Dorjee and Dino Morea but in reality this is not true. Lara is getting married to tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi on January 17 but she did not invite her two ex boyfriends. Their names were cut from the invitee’s list.

Lara and Kelly were close friends for 10 years but she was linked to Dino for a short period. She ended up with Dino bitterly. Lara does not want anything wrong in the wedding ceremony and reception and so she has left out this two names.

A source close to the actress maintains that Lara is "good friends" with her exes Dino and Kelly but hasn't invited either to her wedding. "Because she doesn't want any awkward moments during the ceremony or the reception", said the source.

Dino admits, "I haven't been invited to Lara's wedding. I am not in touch with her since our breakup."

SRK leaves for Dubai for New Year celebration

As only few hours left for the year to end, stars got busy to reach their destination to welcome the coming year in their own distinctive style. Some prefer to celebrate the coming year with family while some with both family and friends. Some stars prefer to ring the New Year bell away from home while some likes to enjoy at home. Yesterday afternoon, Shahrukh Khan was spotted at the Sahara airport boarding the flight for Dubai.

His family is already in Dubai and he has left yesterday to join them. He will be rocking this New Year with best buddies Karan Johar and Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik is also in Dubai with his wife and children.

King Khan tweeted after a long gap on Wednesday. He writes: "To new beginnings. Have a healthy happy and fulfilling new chapter. May all your troubles be as short lived as your New Year resolutions."

Karan wants ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ sequel: Big B

New Delhi  – He brought together the three biggies of Hindi cinema – Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan – in his blockbuster hit ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ in 2001 and filmmaker Karan Johar is now pitching for a sequel to the family saga, reveals Big B.

‘Karan Johar and we talk of cinema and other lighter moments. His visit to Goa and the sudden impulse to do a sequel to ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, for he felt that all the relevant characters were still around and ‘how’,’ Big B posted on his blog.

‘It would be a story on the growth of the brothers and the problems that arise because of their independent understanding and working of the business empire of the father, a split within them and so on,’ he added.

Also starring Jaya Bachchan, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor, the movie was the highest grossing Indian film in the overseas market.

An active blogger, Amitabh has now left his decision for the Part II on the fans’ discretion.

‘I tell him I shall run a reaction to this on my blog and seek information on its feasibility. So what does everyone feel? Yes or no? (sic)… Tel me tell me tell me…no,’ he wrote.

Karan Johar Falls Short Of Being A Sex Maniac!

For a director whose romantic life is as blank as a fresh sheet of paper, this acting role could have been a fresh breather. Grapevine has it that Vishal Bhardwaj had carved out one of the roles in his upcoming thriller Saat Khoon Maaf. And it was for Karan Johar of all people!

Considering the subject of the film, what is it that the acclaimed director would have played in his debut movie as an actor, if he had at all? The portrayal of a sex starved, love making husband to Priyanka Chopra. If this was not all, then he also had to beat up Priyanka after that!

Well, for such a horrifying role, we could expect nothing else but a no, which Karan promptly did. The director was not offered this role by Bhardwaj. Instead, Priyanka was knocked in for help to approach this director for acting, according to sources.

But obviously Priyanka could not get a yes from Karan. Infact, when Karan was asked whether this news was true, he said that he was indeed aghast at being thought of in relation to this film!

And as we said, this no-woman’s man was once again left without any fun!

Karan Johar annoy while asking his sexual orientation

His sexual orientation has been the subject of many discussion for many years now, but Karan Johar still maintains that it’s only his business which side he bats for.
“I don’t care about what people’s perceptions are. People have questioned me about my orientation often. I feel it’s nobody’s problem. There are two words, private and personal, which I haven’t put in this English language, but I know they mean something, that’s why they are attached to the word ‘life’, private life and personal life.

It’s my prerogative to say “it’s not your problem; it’s none of your concern”. People don’t know any thing about me actually and I don’t want them to share whether I have a marriage hidden somewhere or I have a relationship that no one knows about or I don’t have anything and I am a monk in my head and I have taken an oath of celibacy,” said Karan in a recent interview.
