Christina to turn music coach

Singer Christina Aguilera will soon appear as a singing coach on a new music reality series "The Voice".

The show will be aired on NBC, starting April 26. She will join rapper and record producer Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine as a musical coach on the show, and is extremely excited, reports dailymail.

"I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it. To be given the opportunity to help shape new artistes' careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms," said Aguilera.

The 30-year-old had quite a dull start to 2011 with a disastrous Super Bowl performance, a collapse on stage at the Grammy Awards, and a public intoxication arrest.

However, bosses at NBC network are still all praises for her and call her an "inspiration".

"Christina has a once in a generation talent. Her voice is phenomenally distinctive and instantly recognizable," said Paul Telegdy, executive vice president of Alternative Programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios.

"Her journey as an artiste, who started so young in the music business, will be an inspiration to the talent she coaches on the show," he added.

Burlesque Movie Review

Film: ‘Burlesque’,
Director: Steven Antin;
Cast: Cher, Christina Aguilera, Alan Cumming, Stanley Tucci, Cam Gigandet;
Rating: ***
Much like the ‘nautanki’ in India, burlesque was a form of fun music, dance and comedy that kept America entertained from the mid 19th century to the 1960s. The film, that takes its name from this form does just that, without being serious about itself.
Aspiring to become a dancer, Ali (Christina Aguilera) leaves her small town and moves to Los Angeles. There she finds the club ‘Burlesque’ owned by Tess (Cher) and is mesmerized. She wants to dance there, but not getting the chance, she takes the job of a waitress with the help of Jack (Cam Gigandet), while also living with him, but platonically.
The club has dwindling business, and only a miracle will save it from being taken away by the bank to which it owns money. Even Ali does not know that she is that miracle.
At the onset, it has to be observed that ‘Burlesque’ is no ‘Moulin Rouge’, for it does not have that grand sweep of love and neither is it anywhere close to the stunning cabaret with its grand sweep of history. Instead, ‘Burlesque’ is an ordinary film of our time about a girl’s aspiration of becoming a star. And it is about nail polish, lipstick and shoes.
Yet, the film is entertaining enough for the general audience. It is quick and witty, with snappy dialogues. The songs are foot tapping, and that’s the least to expect from a musical. Cher is often too busy trying to ensure her face does not show too much of her wrinkles. Christina Aguilera is surprisingly good in her debut. Stanley Tucci keeps the humour going in his imitable way.
Burlesque as a form is old and exists only as a novelty, rather than a commonality that it was. And so is the tradition of spoofing and humour that was a part of it. The film seems to make an appeal towards helping the old survive, while taking in the new. This is epitomized by Cher, the old star, versus Christina, the current one.
The music, in the beginning, is old. As it progresses though, it gets a touch of the new till in the end, it blooms like a full moon.
Yet, what the film lacks mostly has a grand intention. It aims not for the stars, but for the next rooftop and manages to get there. And that does indeed seem like a waste, considering it has an ensemble of talented actors and dancers.
But in its predictability and cliche, is the comfort of the known which can be either lilting or entertaining, depending on one’s preference.

Aguilera to celebrate belated birthday on New Year’s Eve

London – Singer Christina Aguilera is planning to spend New Year’s Eve by belatedly celebrating her 30th birthday.

The singer-actress reached the landmark age Dec 18 but was too busy at the time promoting her movie ‘Burlesque’ to celebrate properly. So she is making the turn of the year a double celebration, reports showbizspy.com.

‘My actual birthday was in December and I turned 30! It was a big one – the next chapter of my life. I’m a Sagittarius. But, because I was working so much on the movie, I postponed my birthday party, so New Year’s Eve is my big 30th birthday party,’ she said.

Rather than be worried about turning 30, the pop star insists she is pleased to leave her 20s behind her because she now knows so much about life going into a new decade.
‘Being 30 is better than being 20, I’ll tell you that. The lessons I’ve learned and how I’ve grown is incredible,’ she said.

Aguilera to take action against hackers for leaking semi-nude pics on net

London, Dec 09 – Christina Aguilera is all set to take action against the hackers who leaked her nearly-nude pictures on the net.
Aguilera’s representatives have vowed to “aggressively” pursue the computer hackers responsible for the leak.
The Dirrty hitmaker was snapped in various provocative poses, wearing nude-coloured underwear, prior to her split from husband Jordan Bratman earlier this year (10).
However, the pictures have now surfaced on various websites after an internet account belonging to Aguilera’s stylist was hacked into, according to the star’s spokesperson.
And the singer has now called in her lawyers to take action against the thieves who spread the private pictures all over the web.
“We find the actions of the hackers and the press who purchased and/or obtained these photos to be irresponsible and actionable.
We are attempting to determine the identity of the hackers and will pursue them aggressively. Their conduct is reprehensible,” the Daily Express quoted a representative for Aguilera as telling UsMagazine.com.
