Twinkle has given up on me a long time ago: Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar on cable-less stunts, wild animals and his 13 females in Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 Akshay Kumar returns to the small screen tonight with Khatron Ke Khiladi 4. The star anchor feels that in his third outing for the reality show he has managed to 'torture' the 13 female contestants to the maximum. With stunts designed by him, he says he had an extra dose of adrenaline rush performing it first himself, as we ask him... How does your wife Twinkle react when she sees you indulging in daredevil acts? Is she nervous, scared? Not at all! She's far from all this. She has given up on me a long time ago! And your son Aarav? He's the one who encourages me. He tells me go for it, take yet another shot. Your sister-in-law Rinke Khanna has styled you for KKK4. Did you have any specific look in mind? When your in-laws tell you something, you just listen. You don't ask questions. She decided how I should look and I just followed her instructions. There was no discussion, no look in mind. I could not tell her anything, She is my sister-in-law remember. I just had to wear the clothes! Which contestant did you have to 'torture' the maximum? I have screamed at all of them but at the same time, encouraged them, wiped their tears and hugged them when the task was done. Women are physically and emotionally strong. The show is all about conquering fear. I have studied the physics and chemistry of it. I would tell them that the audience is watching you, so go for it. Instead of creepy crawlies, this time there are animals to contend with? Yes, this was my idea. All this while we have seen participants battling the creepy crawlies. I wanted to take fear to a new level with wild animals. Most of the stunts were done without the support of overheard wires? This was again my idea. Wires give you support, you feel you are safe so you are not conquering your fears. Almost 90 per cent of the stunts have been done without wire support. You have also hosted a cookery show on TV? Which do you enjoy more? Both. They are my passions. That's the reason I do such shows. Doing daredevil stunts and cooking is something that gives me a high.

Akshay, Twinkle celebrate Valentine’s Day every week

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna has been married for the last 10 years but still love sparks between them and the reason behind their intense love and closeness is that the duo celebrates Valentine’s Day every week.

Talking about Valentine’s Day and its significance, the actor said, "Days like Valentine`s and our wedding anniversary definitely have a special significance. But honestly speaking my wife and I celebrate Valentine`s every week."

When asked who plans the vacation, the action star quickly replied, “When planning a vacation I bring the plastic globe in our home and rotate it in front of Tina (Twinkle). She has to just put her finger on a place and we fly there for our next holiday with our son Aarav. 

Twinkle knows her every wish is my command. Whatever she desires, be it diamonds, a car or a villa; she has to ask and it will be hers. But the beauty of the whole thing is, that in the decade gone by, I have realised that what my wife really craves for, is my time. She has made me promise that I will always spend quality time with her and Aarav."

Akshay added that he is very romantic at heart but he doesn’t flaunt it on and off the screen.

Akshay uses Twinkle’s ex-boyfriend’s nickname

It’s a mere co-incidence that in the film, ‘Patiala House’, Akshay Kumar was named Gattu which is unfortunately his wife Twinkle Khanna’s ex boyfriend and director Abhishek Kapoor’s nickname. It was dialogue writer Amrita Dutt's idea to name Akshay Kumar’s character as Gattu.

The three did not mind with the name rather laughed at the co-incidence. Says a source close to Akki, "Akshay and Twinkle knew his character in Patiala House would be called Gattu and were perfectly comfortable with it.

The real-life Gattu himself is amused by it. When he read his name on the promos he had a hearty laugh and even joked about the publicity he was getting.

Akki, Tina and Gattu are all friends and even attend social events together. Very few people can maintain such cordial and comfortable relationships but the three have behaved maturely about it. Akshay knew people would remark on the co-incidence but he was fine with it."

Akki-Twinkle celebrate 10th wedding anniversary

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle celebrated 10 years of togetherness. The couple threw a grand bash to mark their days of happy married life. The party was hosted at the JW Marriott in Juhu. On the special occasion, Twinkle wore off shoulder Halston vintage gown with an elegant snake necklace while Akshay dressed in blazer and blue jeans.

The party was held in a poolside and white flowers and candles were seen floating in the pool. The menu includes everything from continental to Indian dishes. Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan and Karan Johar, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, Sunil and Mana Shetty, Bobby and Tania Deol, Olympic boxer Vijendra, Sonam Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Katrina Kaif, Sajid Khan, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder, Vipul and Shefali Shah, Parmeshwar Godrej, Abu-Sandeep and Sajid and Wardha Nadiadwala, amongst others were present in the party.

Akki geared the party popping a champagne bottle. The party went till the wee hours in the morning.

Akshay plans holiday in Goa for Twinkle’s birthday

A family holiday is the only thing on Akshay Kumar’s mind after the release of ‘Tees Maar Khan’. So the Bollywood star is off to Goa to celebrate his wife Twinkle’s 36th birthday Wednesday as well as ring in the New Year with a bang.

‘I am going to Goa with my family for nine days and I will just enjoy myself. We will be celebrating Tina’s (Twinkle) birthday there first and then party on New Year’s Eve,’ Akshay told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

The action star, whose cookery game show ‘MasterChef India’ on Star Plus came to a grand end last week, says he makes sure he chalks out adequate family time every year to take Twinkle and their eight-year-old son Aarav.

‘You need to strike the right balance between work and family. I manage it very carefully. My family understands the nature of my work and never bothers me when I am working. So when I am on a holiday, I never give them a chance to complain and I just have fun,’ he said.

He also makes sure to pamper his wife once every year.

‘I like to take breaks between my projects and once every year, I take a slightly long break. At that time, I just keep a globe in front of my wife and I ask her to choose whichever destination she wants to go for a holiday, and that’s where we head! She allows me complete freedom, so I can do at least this much for her,’ said the dutiful husband.

It was an average year for Akshay with films like ‘Housefull’, ‘Khatta Meetha’, ‘Action Replayy’ and ‘Tees Maar Khan’, apart from his presence on the small screen as the host and judge of ‘MasterChef India’. He says the TV show was a ‘great learning experience’ as it was not just a chance for him to get a step closer to the masses, but also a chance for him to pick up new cookery tips.

‘I met so many people through this show and learnt so much. For the first time I heard of cooking fish in curd and mustard…I picked up many such new combinations and ingredients.

‘I could relate to their emotions because I also come from the same background. I could understand their feeling of staying away from home for a long time and could understand their needs in their quest for success…,’ said the 43-year-old, who lead a simple life in Chandni Chowk in New Delhi before he became a chef in Bangkok and then finally movedg to filmdom with ‘Saugandh’ in 1991.

The actor, best known for his action stunts in Bollywood, says he is ready to be back with a second season of the show.

‘I hope so that the channel would like to do a second season of ‘Masterchef India’. I don’t know yet, but Star Plus and I share quite a good rapport and hopefully we will return with the second season. I am all for it,’ he said.

After the holiday, Akshay is looking forward to the release of ‘Patiala House’, the official trailer of which has been released with ‘Tees Maar Khan’. Following that, he will begin shooting for Anees Bazmee’s ‘Thank You’.
