Sarah Jessica Parker not liking idea of ‘Sex and the City’ prequel

Washington, Feb 19 – Actress Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed that she cannot understand why anyone would want to make a ‘Sex and the City’ prequel.

Jessica Parker, 45, told the Los Angeles Times of her reaction to online rumours about Blake Lively perhaps playing a 19-year-old version of Carrie Bradshaw.

“I was like, ‘Wha-a-a-a-t?’” the Washington Post quoted her as saying.

“I don’t begrudge any 21-year-old the opportunity to tell their stories. They prove to us on an everyday basis that they’re interesting.

“Even their narcissism is interesting. Even their inertia is interesting. Even their tonal speech patterns are interesting. …

“But I don’t think we can pretend to go back. It’s creating two histories. It’s like, ‘Oh, I didn’t know that about Carrie Bradshaw’,” she added. (ANI)

Paris Hilton learnt life’s lessons in her ‘crazy 20s’

London, Feb 18 – Socialite Paris Hilton says her “crazy 20s” made her strong as the years taught her life’s many lessons.

“I’ve had a crazy 20s. I feel like I’ve really lived life and I’ve learned so much. Everything happens for a reason. I’ve had so many life lessons, it’s made me the person I am today and I’m very strong,” contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.

London, Feb 19 – Actress Vanessa Hudgens is sporting her first piece of body art after getting a tattoo.

The “High School Musical” star Wednesday headed to a parlour owned by Bang Bang, the man responsible for Rihanna’s inkings, reports dailystar.co.uk.

MTV VJ Ruby Rose accompanied the 22-year-old to the salon and updated her fans on Twitter about Hudgens’ progress.

“Please don’t blame me… But I may have convinced Vanessa Hudgens to get a tattoo… Now. Her first. By bang bang. 

Vanessa is deciding between her neck or ribs what do you guys think?,” Rose posted on her Twitter page.

Heather Morris denies surgery rumours

London, Feb 19 – “Glee” star Heather Morris has shot down reports she’s undergone breast enhancement surgery.

The actress, who plays cheerleader Brittany in the all-singing, all-dancing show, has been pictured looking curvier than usual in recent weeks, prompting speculation she had gone under the knife to make her bust bigger, reports dailystar.co.uk.

But Morris has laughed off the gossip, insisting “great” underwear is her secret to a fuller chest.

“Not that I need to clear this up, but I did think it was funny when there was a picture taken where I had a great bra on and they said I got a boob job because I was famous now. I was like, What?” she said.

Mila Kunis in ‘Oz, The Great and Powerful’?

London, Feb 19 – Actress Mila Kunis is in talks to play the Wicked Witch of the West in new movie “Oz, The Great and Powerful”.

Kunis met with director Sam Raimi and actor James Franco – who is set to appear as the Wizard of Oz’ – and all agreed she would be perfect for the role as Dorothy’s nemesis Theodorah, reports contactmusic.com.

The film talks about an unscrupulous showman on the run from an angry husband after romancing the man’s wife.

He escapes in a hot air balloon and is swept away to the magical land of Oz, where he falls in love with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.

The shooting of the film will begin in July.

Samantha Ronson tweets she has LiLo sleeping next to her in bed

London, Feb 19 – It looks like Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, are rekindling their romance.

The ‘Mean Girls’ star was seen leaving her old Hollywood haunt with the DJ in the early hours of this morning. 

Then at 6am, 33-year-old posted a message on her Twitter page revealing that the two were sharing the same bed. 

“Watching grey’s anatomy – my fave show – with @lindsaylohan sleeping next to me – should i wake her up to let her know her mom is going on GMA?” the Daily Mail quoted Ronson as tweeting.

Dina Lohan appeared on Good Morning America today to talk about the troubled star’s battle with addiction.

Lohan was first seen dashing into the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood at 1.45am in search of her on-again off-again girlfriend.

She had driven 15 miles from her home in Venice beach to see Ronson, who was DJing at Teddy’s nighclub inside. 

About 45 minutes later the pair emerged together and both got into Ronson’s Mercedes for the drive back – abandoning Lohan’s rented Porsche at the hotel. (ANI)

London, Feb 19 – Fans of teenaged heart-throb singer Justin Bieber will soon be able to pop him in their pockets with the release of a range of Bieber dolls.
 

Three models of the 16-year-old singer go on sale Friday, coinciding with the release of his film “Never Say Never” and each doll has it’s own fashionable look and is holding a microphone, reports express.co.uk.

In three different versions- Red Carpet Bieber is ready in a smart grey shirt, street Bieber wears a T-shirt and the third one is in a black bow tie.

They are expected to be a huge hit with young girls caught in the grip of “Bieber Fever”.

But the fashion dolls, $25 will face stiff competition from the Bieber singing dolls made by the same company and they will go on sale later this year.

Dead newborn baby found at Oprah Winfrey’s South African girls school

Melbourne, Feb 19 – A dead body of a newborn baby has reportedly been found at Oprah Winfrey’s girls school in South Africa.

According to police, a 17-year-old student at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls gave birth to a child this week and disposed of the body at the school, located 25 miles (40 km) south of Johannesburg.

Police are not sure if the newborn was killed or died of natural causes.

“Yes, the girl gave birth to the baby at the school, but we can’t confirm what happened to it. A case of concealment of death is being investigated,” News.com.au quoted police captain Shado Mashobane as telling local daily The Times.

According to the Afrikaans-language newspaper Beeld, the dead newborn was found in a plastic bag filled with bloodied clothes. (ANI)

Blake Lively to star as drug addict mother in ‘Hick’

London, Feb 19 – Actress Blake Lively has been roped in to star as a drug addict mother of a 13-year-old girl in new movie “Hick”.

Lively will play the mother of teenaged Nebraskan girl Chloe Moretz, who runs away to Las Vegas armed with a gun after her parents abandon her.

The film also stars “My Week With Marilyn” star Eddie Redmayne to play a loner who tries luring the young girl away, reports contactmusic.com.

Lively will next be seen on the big screen opposite Ryan Reynolds in “Green Lantern”.

Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif found exchanging kiss on an international flight

Feb 19, Amsterdam: Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif who shared screen space in “Ajab prem ki ghazab kahani” and “Rajneeti” managed to keep up the “just good friends” tag until sunday night, when they were noticed kissing each other openly. Ranbir was on his way home from Amsterdam, where he had an ad shoot, and Katrina accompanied him on the flight LH576 from Frankfurt to Mumbai.

They sat on the same row and soon got closer and started hugging and kissing one another. They got comfortable when they saw most of the passengers were Europeans, who would not be able to spot out these two Bollywood superstars who did not wear makeup on that day. They were also seen rehearsing and discussing scripts. They were so much absorbed in one another, that it seemed they forgot the rest of the world. Eye witnesses reveal that these two lovers seemed to have a great time and were fully in a romantic mood. Even though, Ranbir asked for blanket later, but none of them were seen to take rest.

Aamir Khan to Croon in Dhoom 3

Feb 19, New Delhi: There is generally some exciting ‘catch’ in all movies to hold the viewers’ attention and appreciation so as to make the movie a hit! If this is not done, the movie would turn out to be a flop bringing undesired losses to the industry and to the names of the respective producers, directors and actors, affecting their future contracts. 
 

So, to add something new and exciting to the upcoming Hindi movie, ‘Dhoom 3’, the producer of the movie, Aditya Chopra, has come up with a novel idea. He wants a new voice in ‘Dhoom 3’! This task has been assigned to Pritam Choudhary though the choice has already been made by Aditya. It is none other than the confident yet obliging actor of all times, Aamir Khan! 

Aamir last sang a song in ‘Ghulam’ which became a huge hit and sent our whole nation crooning the song ‘Kya bolti tu’. That was thirteen years ago. There was not much of a tune to it but this time Aamir is expected to croon the theme song of the film! This may enable the croon-lovers to identify the previously partially displayed talent in their beloved hero who will play a villain in ‘Dhoom 3’.

Reemma Sen, Shiv Karan Singh engaged!

Shiv Karan Singh is now someone's fiance! He proposed to well-known actress Reemma Sen (who's a Bollywood actress, but is equally well known in the film industry down South) on Wednesday night.

Shiv proposed to her in the traditional way, by going down on his knee and asked her to marry him. She, of course, smiled and accepted. Later Shiv put a ring on her finger.

When we spoke to Shiv later, he sounded very happy. "I have known Reemma for over two years as she's a very close friend of Riyaz. But I only really got to know her three months ago, and that's when I knew she is the one. She had no clue that I'd propose last night. In fact, only a few of my friends knew and they were there. As far as the wedding is concerned, abhi toh I have just cleared the first stage. I was on tenterhooks whether she'd say yes or no, ab shaadi ki planning toh will happen later. We are just enjoying the happiness at the moment. It's a wonderful feeling. I was too drunk to remember anything else."

Shiv's partner, Riyaz said, "I can't express my happiness for both of them, but I am so, so, so happy." Later Stuti, Shiv's sister-in-law revealed, "Shiv and Reemma have known each other from long time, but their actual bonding started at my wedding only. Aankhon se aankhen char ho gayi," said she and laughed, adding, "Aaj mein officially jethani ban gayi."

Chitrangada Singh exploited at the workplace

Chitrangada Singh is still being applauded for her work in the lovely film 'Yeh Saali Zindagi', and now she is all set to be a part of another venture, once again directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Prakash Jha.

Sudhir Mishra's find Chitrangada will share screen space with one of Prakash Jha's favourite actors Arjun Rampal. Arjun was a part of Jha's Raajneeti. The two – Chitrangada and Arjun – will come together in a yet-to-be-titled film that revolves around sexual exploitation at the workplace.

It is heard that both actors lapped up the film as soon as the script was narrated to them. "There haven't been many films like that. I thought the concept to be quite interesting," said Chitrangada, who has in her kitty yet another movie she is maha-excited about.

"But more about that later," she promises.

Will Kat and Bebo get hitched by 2012?

The 'M' word is still banned in current interviews with Kareena Kapoor. Mention marriage and Bollywood's numero uno actress promptly clams up.

During Diwali last year, when she did those Golmaal-3 interviews though, the actress readily admitted that she would marry in 2012. There is ample proof of that in print.

As things stand today, Kareena's films with the five Khans would have released latest by the summer of 2012. And though the actress is still hinting that she will be available to filmmakers like Rohit Shetty and Madhur Bhandarkar, it is more likely that she will give a nod to marriage before 2012 draws to an end. In the past, when she didn't shy away from talking about marriage, Kareena has said, "Saif will marry me the day I say I am ready." Saif in vulnerable moments has also confessed that he is 'on standby' and is just waiting for his lady love to say the magic word.

The other super-hot Bollywood diva, who is reportedly ready to tie the knot if Ranbir Kapoor proposes, is Katrina Kaif. A source says, "Ranbir's playboy image definitely precedes him. But it is safe to say that for the moment Kat has him hooked. Their holidays overseas are becoming frequent. And their public display of affection on flights and functions is now there for the people to see."

While media reports spoke of Kat and Ranbir cosying up on an international flight, television cameras also caught Kat blowing a kiss to RK Junior when he was on stage at an awards night. An actor who observed Kat's unguarded action, said, "Not only did she break into peals of laughter watching Ranbir's antics on stage, at one point she couldn't contain her excitement and even blew him a kiss."

Unless Kareena or Katrina develop the runaway bride syndrome (like two senior actresses did) on the eve of their marriage, Bollywood could lose these two top divas to the institution next year.

Movie Review: 7 Khoon Maaf is killer stuff!

A different, daring and darling attempt, 7 Khoon Maaf is killer stuff.

Before coming to Susanna's central story, let's highlight a small backstory of hers. As a kid, she had the option of two equidistant roads that led to her school. She always chose the same street from the two. When a mad dog started troubling her on that street, rather than changing her path, she chose to shoot the dog. This trivial background account justifies Susanna's quest to kill her husbands over simply leaving them.

The story is about the beautiful Susanna (Priyanka Chopra) who, over the years, gets married almost half a dozen times. Each of her husbands dies under mysterious circumstances – from the dominating Major Rodriques (Neil Mukesh), to the doped rock-star Jimmy ( John Abraham), to the sadomasochist poet Wasiullah (Irrfan Khan), to the bigamous Russian Vronsky ( Aleksandr Dyachenko), to the exploitative inspector Keemat Lal (Annu Kapoor) to the premeditated Dr Tarafdar (Naseeruddin Shah).

Arun (Vivaan Shah), who had a childhood crush on Susanna and, more or less, has been a part of almost all these stories, narrates each episode to his wife (Konkona Sen Sharma) as the story unfolds to the viewer.

Post a quick and deceptive prologue, Vishal Bhardwaj unveils each marital episode of Susanna through simple and straightforward storytelling. With seven weddings and as many funerals in the offing, the screenplay written by Bhardwaj and Matthew Robbins enters late in each episode and keeps them short and succinct. The chemistry between Susanna and her partners which leads to their subsequent marriage, is cut short throughout, since almost every chapter starts with Susanna being already married or Susanna tying the knot early in the episode. But then the film, essentially, is not about how Susanna gets married several times but, more importantly, about how each of her marriage ends. Also the animosity in each track is as quickly established as their implied chemistry.

None of the husbands are supported by any background accounts and you never feel the need either. Each of them is instantly introduced in the narrative and only to the extent that's essential to the plot. Through each episode, Bhardwaj attempts to touch diverse human emotions from envy, addiction, obsession, faith, lust and greed. The pacing is slow as the director gradually works to add intensity in every frame through the unique shot-takings, dialogues and performances.

While there is no particular attempt to give a period-feel to the film that spans almost four decades in the life of Susanna, the director leaves subtle hints of the changing era using references of national headlines like fall of Berlin wall, Babri Masjid issue, IC 814 hijack and the 2008 terror attack at Taj. With most of the film being restricted to Susanna's farmhouse frontiers, the detailing isn't much demanding either.

The multiple marriages certainly work as a self-realization journey for Susanna. She starts optimistically giving herself several chance, loses hope after a point, has to make compromise with life and finally surrenders to fate. Priyanka Chopra credibly brings out the metamorphosis in her internal psyche though her external transformation (makeup) seems overdone. She is vulnerable yet unforgiving. Much of her cold-blooded cruelness and courage comes from her partners-in-crime comprising of the maid (Usha Uthup), the mute domestic help Gunga (Shashi Malviya) and a concierge. While the murders in the narrative are evident, the motive behind them keeps you glued to the screen. And thankfully they don't seem repetitive.

In a Vishal Bhardwaj film, music certainly has to be a highpoint. From the Russian folk inspired ' Darling ', to the rock number ' O Mama ', to the sublime ' Bekaraan ', he simply weaves magic with Gulzar. His background score is as much intriguing. Vintage interiors dominate the art design. The stable combat sequence between Rodriques and Gunga is thrillingly choreographed by Sham Kaushal.

Unarguably the film belongs to Priyanka Chopra who puts in a confident, consistent, convincing and authoritative act. After Priyanka, it's Vivaan Shah who steals the show with his innocent charm. In his debut film, he impresses with his natural and poised performance bagging the meatiest male role of the film. From the husbands, Annu Kapoor is brilliant thanks to his amusing track. Irrfan Khan and Naseeruddin Shah are dependable as always. Neil Mukesh shines in his commanding personality. Shashi Malviya as Gunga is one of those excellent eccentric supporting characters you expect from a Vishal Bhardwaj film. Usha Uthup doesn't get much scope.

Now, Colors launches crime-based reality show ‘Wanted…’

Mumbai, Feb 17 – After game show ‘Bigg Boss’ and adventure-based ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, Colors channel has launched crime-based reality show ‘Wanted – High Alert’ to help curb crime.

‘Colors has always done something different, whether it is soap or reality show. Whether it’s ‘Fear Factor’ or ‘Bigg Boss’ or soaps like ‘Balika Badhu’, we always do something which is relevant to the society, whether it’s child marriage or female infanticide like ‘Lado’,’ Ashvini Yardi, programming head of Colors told IANS after the launch of the show here Thursday.

‘So when we decided to get into a genre like crime, we decided to do a crime reality show. 

Viewers are active participants in this show and with this show we can help the police, I won’t say to eradicate but to reduce the crime in the country,’ she added.

‘Wanted’ will show photographs of the wanted criminals and there will be a toll free number where viewers can call to give information about them.

Colors has teamed up with B.A.G Films to accomplish the goal.

‘We have news bureaus across the country. We have tied up with B.A.G. They have the news media. We are using them to use their stringers across. Police are helping us,’ said Yardi.

Asked how would it be different from shows like ‘India’s Most Wanted’ or ‘Crime Patrol’, she said: ‘It’s a reality show, they are fictional.’

The show is going on air Feb 26 and it will be hosted by actor Sushat Singh. Every episode will deal with two cases.

‘We are speaking of real crime, one who are accused and still wanted. There are enough evidences. We are asking common man to participate and help police to grab them. We are showing photographs of the accused in different get-ups, which they might have used to escape the law,’ Sushant, who finds acting easier than hosting a reality show, told IANS.

‘I am still doing my homework. Honestly, I am very nervous. Putting up a mask of a character and facing the camera is much different from but being alone in the show and interacting directly with mass through a camera is a huge responsibility,’ said Sushant.

The channel is using its platform to find out the accused with co-operation from police and their bureaus across the country.
