Mumbai: The Zee Cine Awards 2013 was a night full of glamour, when Bollywood’s biggest stars descended down to dazzle us with their radiance. Amongst them, shone bright, the King of Hearts – worldwide – Shah Rukh Khan and his recent leading lady Katrina Kaif.
Not surprisingly, Shah Rukh Khan walked away with the award of the ‘International Icon (Male)’. We are sure his fans across the globe, Morocco and Jakarta included (where he recently visited) must be rejoicing. Shah Rukh Khan received the award from director Boney Kapoor and his wife and actress Sridevi. SRK, who must’ve had to dedicate a room in his house for all the awards he’s gathered in a lifetime, was his humble and witty self throughout the evening.
Shah Rukh’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ co star- the gorgeous British Indian beauty Katrina Kaif, who has recently garnered a huge fan following globally thanks to her killer dance moves, took home the female equivalent of the award – International Icon (Female). The award was handed over to her by Bollywood actor Zayed Khan and internationally known choreographer Shiamak Davar.
This year has been great for Katrina, who has walked away with quite a few of the awards in 2012. She had recently bagged the ’Favorite Actress’ Award at the People’s Choice Awards for her performance in ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, the ‘Best Actress in Action Role’ at the Big Star Entertainment Awards again for ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, the ‘Best Entertainer of the Year 2012′ at the Hello! Hall Of Fame Awards and finally the ‘Most Profitable Actor’ (Female) at ETC Awards.
Interestingly, together Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif were recently awarded the ‘Best Romantic Couple’ at the Big Star Entertainment Awards. The now crowned ‘International icons’ also offered a tribute to the late film-maker Yash Chopra with a beautiful medley of his songs.
Other winners of the night were Ranbir Kapoor who took home the most coveted ‘Best Actor (Critics)’ award for simply being ‘Barfi!’, Salman Khan won ‘Best Actor (Popular)’ award for his much loved ‘Dabangg 2′ , Priyanka Chopra bagged the ‘Best Actress (Popular) award’ for her rendition of ‘Jhilmil’ in Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi!’, Vidya Balan won the ‘Best Actress (Critics)’ award for performance in ‘Kahaani’ and finally Anushka Sharma not too far behind with the ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ for ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan.’
