The multi faceted Dil Se lady of the Hindi film industry just celebrated her birthday on 31st January. This Aquarius personality started her life from Shimla, appearing in commercials like Liril to Perk, and spent time doing many types of films from Hindi, Telegu to Canadian. In all these films she played various roles from a CBI officer to a journalist or for that matter even a radio jockey. She won a lot of accolades from the Filmfare to the Silver Hugo award for the best actress.
Working with film directors like Mani Ratnam, Kundan Shah Karan Joshar Yash Chopra and other co actors like Anil Kapoor, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan she proved her self time and again. In the year 2000 the film Kya Kehna, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega and Mission Kashmir kept her fans talking of her talents and was much reviewed by film critiques. Koi Mil Gaya was a difficult film where she was paired with Hrithik Roshan who himself is a very talented artist and could have stolen the show single handedly. But to our surprise they were both talked about. Similarly working with Shahrukh Khan for the film Kal Ho Naa Ho she proved herself once again.
Rituparno Ghosh too had immense faith and invited her to star for his The Last Lear.
Other than films she has varied interest in other fields of life too. She has written columns for BBC news and has co-owned the IPL cricket team Kings X1 Punjab.
She supports a number of social causes like Aids Awareness and the Red Cross Society in Shimla. Not only does Preity have a good rapport with friends from the film industry but she has had a very encouraging approach with the IPL players too.
Being a style conscious and glamorous lady she also participated in Manish Malhotra’s fashion show Freedom and has also won the IIFA Style Diva award in the year 2005.
A lady with an opinion and daring enough to call a spade a spade has won her the Godfrey mind of Steel and the Red and White Bravery award. When on interviews like the one she had on Karan Johar’s show people appreciated her carefree and frank style of talking.
She has also supported causes to keep Mumbai clean and fought against Human Trafficking. As a part of NDTV’s Jai Jawan programme she visited the army men who were based in a town called Hisar in the state of Harayana.
