Lady Gaga waxwork lookalikes unveiled around world

LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Eight wax models of "Poker Face" singer Lady Gaga were unveiled by Madame Tussauds waxwork museums around the world on Thursday, each dressed differently in celebration of the star's provocative style.
London's version of the current queen of pop had her dressed in a Giorgio Armani suit accessorised with Rococo coifed hair and a Philip Treacy hat in the shape of a telephone, a reference to one of her biggest hits.
The museum chain spent around $2.4 million on the project, banking on legions of fans queueing up to catch a glimpse of a replica of their idol.
"Each of the figures is styled differently and each of the launches has been a surprise outfit," said Madame Tussauds sculptor Stephen Mansfield in London.
"It's a nice little bit of fun and it adds to the hoopla around the whole Lady Gaga figure."
One Lady Gaga fan at the London launch, Yvonne Fam, said the singer was an inspiration.
"She doesn't care what anyone thinks. She just stays true to herself and she's very inspirational," she said.
The other participating cities were New York, Las Vegas, Hollywood, Amsterdam, Berlin, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Lady Gaga, 24, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, has dominated the music world for the past two years, turning out dance hits like "Bad Romance", and "Telephone" and amassing more than 20 million followers on Facebook.
Her 2008 album "The Fame" has spent more than 100 weeks on the U.S. Billboard charts and she has become known for stunts like setting her piano on fire, and dressing entirely in raw meat.
