Director Manish Gupta, who started his career as the writer of Amitabh Bachchan starrer movie Sarkar, is coming up with another issue based film Hostel, which will release on 31st December. The film stars Taarzan: The Wonder Car fame actor Vatsal Seth in the lead role of a college student. Tulip Joshi of Matrubhoomi and Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai fame is playing the female lead in this film.
Ragging has become an integral part of hostel life in most of the educational institutions in India. Director Manish Gupta has tried to show the dark side of this hostel life through this movie. Many students become the target of hostel ragging every year and some of them cannot bear the torture in the name of ragging and opt for suicide.
The students are often asked by the seniors to strip in front of everyone, sometimes they are even raped by the seniors. These humiliating experience make such students very cruel and they take revenge from their juniors next year. In this way, the evil tradition continues killing many students and destroying career of many.
In this film, Vatsal will be shown entering such a notorious hostel and then he gets ragged by the seniors. It will try to focus the string of incidents following this ragging and will try to reflect the frustrations of the victims. It will be an eye opener for the society and the educational institutions.
The victims of ragging often feel shy to report the sexual abuses to their parents or teachers and feel suffocated from inside. This film might help people to understand the plight of such victims and some serious action is taken to prevent such cases.
So, it is a must watch film for everyone in the year-end eve!
