Television actor Eijaz Khan who makes his debut in soon-to-be-released "Meerabai Not Out" opposite Mandira Bedi, feels that there are high expectations and less pressure in movies as compared to small screen.

Eijaz said he did not find any difference in terms of approaching a role as an actor, saying "Acting is all about understanding what the director wants from you and delivering the goods in both the mediums."

Television is a stepping stone to films is universally accepted fact. Besides, television actors are tried and tested and hence there are some film producers who consider television actors if they want fresh faces in their films, he added.

"It's a sweet romantic comedy with a dash of cricket. Mandira plays Meera Achrekar, a Maharashtrian middle class girl who is huge fan of Anil Kumble. While, I play a cardiologist with a modern background who has nothing to do with cricket. However, the game is part of every Indian's life," he added.

Speaking about shooting with Anil Kumble, who plays a cameo in the film, Eijaz said the former Test captain was a straightforward man with a good sense of humour. Eijaz said he wants to try out different genres of films for a good body of work. "I am just a newcomer. Let's see what opportunities I get," he added.

He says in "Meerabai..." , he plays a regular guy with normal aspirations in life whereas in Dharmesh Darshan's "Bhanvra", his character has high aspirations and can go to the extent of adopting different means to achieve them.

In PNC's "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", he plays a grey character. Eijaz is confident that "Meerabai.." will be liked by the audience. "The audience will smile throught the film and come out of theatres with a happy feeling," he said. To a question if television offers were still open, Eijaz said he has kept television on hold for last two years.

"Filmmakers ask for block dates and I do television, I will not be able to commit myself to films. Television is also too demanding. But, I am not ruling out television if there are good roles at a later stage. Right now, I am concentrating on building my film career," he added.
