legend and film maker of Bollywood Yash Chopra has been awarded the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) Award for outstanding achievement in film at the annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards. The Asia Pacific Screen Awards is given in collaboration with CNN International, UNESCO and FIAPF-International Federation of Film Producers Associations and is an international cultural initiative of the Queensland Government, Australia, to acclaim films that best reflect their cultural origins and demonstrate cinematic excellence.
More than 700 film industry celebrities from the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and United States attended the award giving ceremony.The whole of India can be proud that Mr.Chopra was chosen for the region's most prestigious accolade in film presented on November 11 at Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia.
Mr.Gomez also added that Yash Chopra has played a pioneering role in modernizing the local industry and putting it on a more contemporary corporate footing.Mr.Andres Vincente Gomez, the president of FIAP said that the contribution made by Yash Chopra in making Indian films more popular through out the whole world has added on to the growth of the Indian movie industry.
After receiving the award Mr.Chopra said "It is a great honour to receive this award endorsed as it is by such respected names as CNN International, UNESCO and FIAPF.
Our films have always shown a strong commitment to family values and have been rooted in Indian culture. In addition, we have over the last few years developed a strong relationship with the beautiful country of Australia and that makes this award even sweeter. Finally, I believe the award recognizes that our films have touched hearts in countries across the Asia-Pacific region, even while maintaining high levels of cinematic excellence, and that gives me and all of us at Yash Raj Films deep satisfaction and joy".
