Kajols' secret to stay fit

Kajol has not only been on a strict diet since delivering her son Yug, but she's also learning new dance forms to stay fit.

So when Strut - The Dancemakers approached her to attend one of their classes, Kajol promptly agreed to not only come for the classes but also interacted with the students.

"Bhaavesh Gandhi, the person spearheading Strut, is young, talented and a very skilled dance instructor, who was previously with Shiamak Davar. I have seen him and I believe he's very good," says the actress. "Two very good friends, Ryan Stephen and writer Niranjan Iyengar own this dance school, and I am all for promoting talent and any form of education."

Apparently, Kajol has not charged a penny to have her name associated with the dance school.

Vidya Balan is a great actor—Milan Luthria

Playing unconventional roles is nothing new for Vidya Balan and the actress, who has done a complete makeover to portray Silk Smitha in 'Dirty Picture', has apparently received mixed reviews from the audiences.

Vidya has no close resemblance to the late actress and a lot of the viewers who had watched the theatrical trailer of the film felt that the actress’ physical attributes didn’t match up to Silk’s.

However, director Milan Luthria, in a recent interview, stated that Vidya is the only actress who is a great performer and has the looks of a classic Indian beauty that is apt to portray the role of Silk Smitha in the biopic.
Talking about Vidya’s sensuous look in 'Dirty Picture', Milan said that a lot of work had gone into transforming the actress for the role.

Apparently, they had put in a lot of effort to present the actress in a more sensuous way that cannot be deemed vulgar.

"We were looking for a strong performer and not someone who could merely look sexy and Vidya is a great actor. Also, she has the body of a classic voluptuous Indian beauty, something not many Bollywood actresses can boast of. Silk was never pencil thin.

“The fact that she can hold that innocent expression despite being a part of a bold scene is a facet of only great actors. The kind of character that she is playing, someone who has a harsh exterior but a soft inner, isn't easy, but Vidya does it effortlessly," stated the ‘Dirty Picture’ director.

Vidya to go nude

Looks like Vidya, who is making an interesting journey to play different kinds of characters in various films, seems to be grabbing roles that shows her sensuous side.

The actress, who is considered to be a great performer in the industry, has grabbed a new film ‘Enjoy Your Life', where she would have to go nude.

The actress has decided to shed her inhibitions for a scene in the film. The film also has Amitabh Bachchan in an important role.

Tamil producers want to sign Vidya

Vidya’s 'Dirty Picture' has become a talking point in Kollywood. The actress has shed her next-door girl image to bring in the sizzle and sensation of the original sex symbol Silk Smitha.
It’s heard that several producers in Kollywood are waiting to sign the actress after seeing the theatrical trailer of 'Dirty Picture' and her sensuous looks.

‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ grosses 29 crore in just 4 days

After Salman’s ‘Bodyguard’, which smashed box-office records, it’s his ex-flame's ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ that is doing good business at the box-office.

According to box-office reports, Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan and Ali Zafar starrer MBKD has successfully managed to gross around 29 crore in just four days.

The film, which hit the cinema houses on Sept. 9, continued to fare well on Monday.

Trade experts are expecting the movie to mint nearly 37-38 crore by this week.

MBKD actress Katrina receives good reviews from critics
Ever since YRF’s latest venture MBKD has hit the screens, its female lead Katrina has been receiving good reviews for her performance in the film.

Going gaga over the rock star chic, one of the critics articulated, "The charismatic Katrina Kaif in MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN is easily the star of this show. Offering an uninhibited and winning performance as the mad but endearing Dimple."

When asked to react to reviews, Katrina, who still seems to be well-grounded, stated that every project which she undertakes is a challenge for her and she leaves no stone unturned to give her best.

"The way I approach my films, each of them has to be a separate entity in itself. To start a film, do it well, promote it to the fullest, get it up for release and then to see that it gets accepted by the audience - there are challenges at every juncture. Really, every film of my own is a little battle of its own," Katrina told the shutterbugs.

Katrina to sizzle with Sanjay Dutt in ‘Agneepath’
After mesmerizing one and all with her chartbuster item track ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ from ‘Tees Maar Khan’, Katrina seems to have become the hot favorite item girl in the industry now.

Grapevine has it that the bombshell, who recently made a special appearance in Salman’s ‘Bodyguard’, will now be seen sizzling with Sanjay Dutt in KJo’s ‘Agneepath’.

Apparently, the item song in question is going to be composed on the lines of Amitabh’s popular song ‘Jhuma Chooma De Dein’ from the film ‘Hum’.

The song has been compiled by Ajay Gogavale and Atul Gogavale.

‘Ra.One’ will teach sons to love their fathers – SRK

Shahrukh’s 'Ra.One' has been in news for too long and the actor, who is having great expectations from this movie, is quite hopeful that the movie would certainly click with the audiences.

Like his counterpart Salman, who has just delivered the smash hit ‘Bodyguard’, the Baadshah of Bollywood is also rather proud of himself and expects his latest offering to set the silver screen on fire as the trailer of ‘Ra.One’ has received good response from his fans.

'Ra.One', which is touted to be made in a huge budget, is a special film in more than one way for SRK, as the actor has made this film just to do something different for his kids.

At the recent music launch of ‘Ra.One’, the actor spoke to the media that his dream project will appeal to all fathers and son.

The actor emphasized that his superhero flick talks about the relationship between every father and son and the film would teach all the sons to love their fathers.

Speaking about fathers and sons, SRK confessed that his son Aryan never thinks he is cool or stud enough and the child character in ‘Ra.One’ also feels the same way in the film.

“My film `RA.One` talks about the relationship between every father and son. So the film has a bit of my relationship with my son. Like he feels that I`m not cool enough and he feels that I don`t have great abs and I`m not a stud enough. The child in this film also feels similar things.

“I think it`s a film that will appeal to all sons and fathers and I think it will teach them to love their fathers because I think fathers are very nice. They are good, if not better than mothers,” said the actor.

Shahrukh, Kareena groove to ‘Chammak Challo’

It had been a treat for B-town, who took part in the music launch of ‘Ra.One’ yesterday.

The mood was upbeat and the ambience electric when Shahrukh and Kareena grooved to Akon’s ‘Chammak Challo’ on stage.

The other surprising element that unraveled at the launch was that everyone got to see Arjun’s villainous look for the first time.

At the event, SRK dedicated the movie to Red Chillies Production Operations’ Head Bobby Chawla, who is currently not in good health.

One of the most spectacular music launch events ever, says Karan

Karan, who was the guest of honor at the ‘Ra.One’ music launch, was all praises for the film.

While releasing the album, the filmmaker admitted that the superhero film is the proudest film ever made on celluloid.

Karan, who was quite impressed with the ‘Ra.One’ music launch, also tweeted about the event.

“One of the most spectacular music launch events ever!!! RA-ONE kicks off its chamak challo vibe!!! AKONS and ICONS rock the album!!,” posted Karan.

Salman Khan, Yuvraj Singh & other celebrities buying on polo, motorsports & cricket teams

NEW DELHI: Call it the IPL effect. Buying sports teams seems the new hep thing in the world of celebrities. If cricketer Yuvraj Singh is buying a motorsport team, Telugu film star Chiranjeevi's son Ramcharan Tej has bought a polo team, and Hindi superstar Salman Khan, Tamil star Suriya and Malayalam actor Mohanlal are all part of a new celebrity cricket league.

The success of the Indian Premier League, where actors Shah Rukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta are among the team owners, may be the obvious trigger, but the stars are clearly looking beyond top-level cricket, partly because of heavy investment and lack of opportunities, and partly because of their interest in other sports.

"It's not only very expensive to buy an IPL team, but opportunities are also restricted," says Indranil Das, COO of sports and entertainment marketing firm Kwan Entertainment & Marketing, which manages endorsement deals for actor Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Rana Daggubatti. "There are a lot of proposals on the table and celebrities seem to be keen too - because sport has an emotional connect and gives the owners added visibility as well," he says.

Yuvraj Eyes 1 Super Series Team

Yuvraj Singh and a host of other celebrities, including British business magnate Richard Branson and film star Hrithik Roshan, are expected to be associated with i1 Super Series, a franchisee-based car-racing event being endorsed by master batsman Sachin Tendulkar and promoted by Machdar Motorsports.

Chiranjeevi's son Ramcharan Tej has acquired a Hyderabad-based nationallevel polo team a fortnight ago for an estimated 3-4 crore. He says there is a big opportunity to make Hyderabad the home ground for Royal Polo Games, and reviving the sport. "People here are aware of the big brands associated with polo and they have huge spending power - this is the new place for luxury brands to showcase themselves," Tej says. He clearly expects good returns on his investment. His association has already helped the team bring in sponsors such as the Apollo Group, Tej says.

RACING CLUBS

Machdar Motorsports CEO Darshan M has confirmed that Yuvraj Singh is in talks to buy a franchisee team of i1 Super Series. "Yuvraj is interested in the league but nothing has been finalised yet," he says. Partly modelled on IPL, the soon-to-belaunched motor sports league will have nine teams, each representing a city, and each team will have two cars in the race, driven by an Indian and a foreigner.

But unlike IPL, the motor sport teams would not be auctioned. The nine franchises will be sold, by invitation, at a base price of $5 million.

Teams will also have to pay an annual fee of $1 million from the second year. IPL is a lot costlier. Shah Rukh had bought the Kolkata team for $75.09 million, while Subrata Roy's Sahara Group coughed up $370 million for Pune Warriors. The race will tour across seven Asian cities including Delhi, Chennai, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Pattaya. The total prize money is $2 million. A person familiar with the negotiations says the deal with Yuvraj is expected to be formalised in two weeks. An email sent to the cricketer's manager remained unanswered till the time of going to print.

The person also says British business magnate and Virgin Group promoter Richard Branson too is in talks to buy the Bangalore team in this league. Film stars Hrithik Roshan, Fardeen Khan and Sanjay Khan, besides corporates, like the Hero Group and the Burmans of the Dabur Group, too have held talks with the league owners. Darshan would not confirm this. "We are in talks with several sports and film stars, and corporate houses, but we can't reveal the names at this point," he says. The team owners and the broadcast partner will be announced over the next few weeks as the first race is scheduled for December, Darshan says.

FIGHT AGAINST PIRACY

The returns need not be direct. The film fraternity across the country - Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bangla and Malayalam - have come together to form the Celebrity Cricket League that will combat piracy. The stars involved include Salman Khan, Sohail Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Suniel Shetty, Suriya, Madhavan, Venkatesh Suniel and Mohanlal.

The first season of the league, founded by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, MD and CEO of Local TV and founder and CEO at Bharatstudent.com, was to raise awareness on piracy and ways to combat it. The Indian entertainment industry is estimated to have lost over 4,000 crore and 6,00,000 jobs due to piracy last year. The first edition of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) was held in Hyderabad in June this year with four teams - Mumbai Heroes, Chennai Rhinos, Telugu Warriors and Karnataka Bulldozers. Chennai Rhinos beat Karnataka Bulldozers to win the title.

Sahara network has the broadcast rights for the matches. Last month, CCL announced the launch of Bangla and Malayalam teams too. While Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and director Priyadarshan's wife Lissy are owners of the Malayalam cricket team, Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor owns the Bangla team.

I can impress any girl says Sushant Singh Rajput

He tasted success at an early age. And there has been no looking back since then. Right now, he's basking in the glory of his show Pavitra Rishta. He's small screen's heart throb.

Sushant Singh Rajput was in Ahmedabad for the first time to inaugurate a store and didn't really get a chance to explore the city. Ask him about the rumour doing rounds that he's quitting the show and he puts it all to rest by saying, "I am not quitting the show."

Sushant is working in the show with his girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. It is believed that working with a partner gets little difficult at times. Ask Sushant about the same and he says, "I feel a level of understanding is very important between a couple. 'Divine' is the word that describes our relationship. The only problem is that it gets difficult to work with other female actors," he laughs.

There are several actors who just don't talk about their relationship and prefer to play a hide and seek game. But Sushant is different. "I was sick and tired of answering all the questions about Ankita. I just wanted to shut them up and there wasn't anything to hide in it. I am honest and I am fine if people know about my relationship. Our relationship does exist in reality and I don't mind talking about it openly," he says.

Before joining the television industry, Sushant loved to party hard. But it's a different story now. "Today working for 15 hours in a day, I am a different person completely. My reel character has changed me. I have become more quiet in real life. I have changed as a person. I am also learning about the unconditional love one has for his/her partner," he says.

You can't resist asking him about fame to somebody who has had his share of fame at a young age. "In the beginning, getting attention is exciting. Now I am used to it and it also inspires me to work hard so that I can live up to people's expectation. I am surprised with the response I have got with my show. I have worked honestly and I will do so in the future. Most of the time I work because I like to do a particular thing and not because I want fame," says Sushant. So, is it difficult for him to handle his female fan following? "Ankita handles all the girls. I don't worry much about that," he says with a laugh.
