Aggressive Pink misses fights

American singer Pink, who is on the way to motherhood, says she misses the catfights she is known for.
The singer, who is expecting a baby with her on and off boyfriend Carey Hart, admits she has been missing a good fight because she has calmed down with age, reports contactmusic.com.
'A real good fight - it's been years. And you know what? I miss it, I really miss scrapping. I've become quite boring in my old age. I stopped getting in fights, I stopped beating people up. I mean, back in the day people could just punch each other, get over it and be friends the next day. Now it's lawsuits, it's boring, just boring,' said Pink.
The former gymnast, 31, is due to give birth in the spring.
'We wanted to wait and not talk about it for a while. But the world started talking about it last week so our parents had to hear it through the radio. I'm pretty disciplined, when it's time to play I play, when it's time to work I work, and when it's time to be careful, I'll be careful,' she said.

Gul Panag: I am bound by fake sense of morality

Ex-Miss India Gul Panag, who is better known for her intense roles in the films like DOR, MANORAMA SIX FEET UNDER, will soon be seen in a women-centric film, TURNING 30, where she plays a 30-year old mature yet a fun-loving person.
She explains the psychological problems, emotions and tribulations of a woman pertaining to that age or what happens when a woman steps into age.
Says Gul, "30 is a critical age. You start getting biological pressure - like family planning, complications post 50, etc, etc. This is an urban phenomenon because in rural areas by 30 women will have two children and her entire routine is occupied by her kids. She doesn't have time to think about herself and her life. Turning 30 is like an alarm clock at the back of our mind that by this time we want to achieve our set goals. Professionally, both for men and women, by 30 if you have not shown any spark or proved your caliber or displayed your talent then it will never happen. Be it any field, by 30 if you have not displayed your genius then chances are quite rare. That's what TURNING 30 deals with."
Further she throws light on her character in the film, "It's a story about a woman, called Naina, who is about to turn 30, leading almost a perfect life (what with a reputed well-paid job and a boyfriend who she thinks will be there for her forever) till one day when everything goes horribly wrong. Suddenly all her dreams are shattered and she is gripped by various insecurities. Whatever targets she had set for herself to achieve by that age suddenly seem to be unachievable. On one side her world is messed up and other side she is surrounded by this insecurity that she is turning 30. So she goes through all these dilemma."
Unlike her character in the film, Gul admits that she is not that bold. "Though I am also independent like my character Naina Singh in the film but I am not as gutsy and strong as her. I would love to live the way Naina lives, a liberated and brave life. I am also bound by certain fake sense of morality of society. But that's how we have to be," says the 31 year old actress.
TURNING 30 is directed by debutant Alankrita Srivastav, who has been assisting filmmaker Prakash Jha for years now. It also stars Purab Kohli.

SRK's Romance Nets Sania's Vote; Urges Actor To Coach Hubby Shoaib

Recently, Shah Rukh Khan was summoned up for an unlikely request. From tennis ace Sania Mirza, no less, who wanted him to coach her shy hubby Shoaib Malik, so that he could turn a mite more romantic in real life and mouth some of those heart warming lines to her.
The trio met up at a prominent sports awards function, anchored by SRK.
States Sania in a tabloid chat, "Shah Rukh's strength is the way he talks and besides, he romances on screen in a very charming way. So, I asked him to share some tips and teach my husband some romantic lines. Of course, it was all done in good humour and SRK was pulling our leg all through the act."
A close insider states,"During the show, in an impromptu question and answer session, SRK asked Shoaib and Sania about their marriage, romance and kids. He also tried his best to get Shoaib and Sania's love story out of his mouth, but all that he got out of him was that it was an ideal example of 'love at first sight', where he proposed to Sania and she agreed instantly."
Adds the source, "Sania added that basically Shoaib speaks very little and believes that true love does not need any expression. Shah Rukh called Shoaib on stage and asked him to repeat some romantic dialogues as Sania had suggested. The three of them also danced to a dance number from 'Veer Zaara'."

Panting Over Panty…less Yana!

Yana Gupta looking very hot in black dress
Yana Gupta, who's working her ass off for a decent comeback of sorts to B Town has probably taken inspiration from the likes of a Sharon Stone in 'Basic Instinct', and probably her basic instincts are in fine form too. Minus a certain Aftab Shivdasani, that is.
A wardrobe malfunction at a charity event spotlighted the embarrassing fact, that Yana Gupta was devoid of any panties (sending males into panting mode, too). Ahh, Yana, however, would like to dismiss the whole episode laughingly as a slip of mind.
Although, she was caught on camera without her innerwear, Yana took the incident in her stride valiantly. What's better, she was quite sporting over it too and didn't hesitate to voice her sentiments in her tweet which goes, "I used to be known as an 'item girl'. Now, I will be called as the 'no panty girl'. I should do an ad for some underwear brand with the tag line saying, 'I've got them NOW'.'
Furthermore, her blog post explains in explicit detail as to why the whole incident took place.
Apparently, she'd been rehearsing for a TV dance reality show and in the midst of those crazy moves and grooves, she'd "get irritated by the panties getting stuck in my ass." Since she was wearing pants for the rehersals, this time around, Yana left behind the prickly panties behind. And though, she'd packed her bag carefully, Yana forgot to pack in her panties! And although she did make attempts to pull down her dress every few steps, it hardly helped… and the naked truth was out! Well, literally and figuratively and every other way.
Labelling it the "funniest day of her life", Yana posted her take on Twitter stating, "I have only one thing to say. For God's sake! Stop looking at those pictures! I don't want anyone to have a heart attack here."

Ajay: Rs. 350 Crore Successful Actor; Doubles His Fee?

He's being hailed as the hottest selling ace of 2010. Undisputably, this year has been a trump card of sorts in the shuffle of cinebiz, where fortunes change rapidly every Friday.
Ajay Devgn proudly strides to the fore as an actor who's served up four winners: 'Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge'; 'Raajneeti'; 'Golmaal 3' and 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai', that have grossed around Rs. 350 crores! And what's better they all showcase the two time National Award winning actor in varied roles.
States a trade analyst, "In a year that has seen only about 12 hits among a 130 off films that made it to cinemas, Ajay Devgn's box office contribution has been the maximum so far."
Devgn's cup of happiness is overflowing on the personal front too, as the actor became a proud father, second time around, this time to son Yug.
Capitalising on the success crest to the fullest, Devgn has reportedly doubled his remumeration and has turned more choosy on nodding assent to flicks, unless he is convinced about their potential.
An elatd Devgn told the media, "I have practically been living out of a suitcase in 2010. But what's heartening is that all those days and nights of hard work have paid off in the best manner. I get so many congratulatory messages on my cellphone and normally, an actor is either rewarded with a compliment or cheque. This year, I've been doubly rewarded. Distributors have also told me that my films have made the largest contribution to the box office success of 2010 and that really makes me feel immensely proud. What is better, is that the media has praised all the four films of mine, in which I had completely diverse roles."

Emma Watson doesn’t want her own perfume brand

‘Harry Potter’ actress Emma Watson has no interest in releasing her own perfume as she doesn’t see the attraction in it.
‘I can’t understand this fragrance thing. Why would you want to smell like somebody else? Don’t you want to smell like yourself,,’ femalefirst.co.uk quoted Watson as saying.
While she has no desire to have her own perfume, the 20-year-old actress who has appeared in series of campaigns for British fashion house Burberry wants to work in fashion industry.

‘Munni Badnam Hui’ song gets Pakistani cops into trouble

Officers at a police station in Pakistan’s Gujranwala district paid a heavy price for being enamoured with the “Dabangg” super-hit song “Munni Badnam Hui” when they were suspended Friday for forcing three female dancers to perform it at the police station.
Three dancers of a musical troupe in Lahore were on their way to Gujranwala to perform at a marriage ceremony, but officers of the Sadhoki police station stopped them at a checkpost midway and took them to the police station, Dunya TV reported.
Having arrested the dancers, the policemen were not ready to let go the opportunity to have some fun.
They asked the dancers to perform to the Malaika Arora hit song “Munni Badnam Hui” one by one. After having his wish fulfilled, the police station in-charge registered an FIR against the three dancers and detained them in a lock-up.
The dancers, who could not go home even after entertaining the police officers, were only released on bail after two days.
They filed a writ petition before the session judge who ordered an inquiry after listening to their plight.
The Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala, Tariq Masood Yaseen, after conducting an inquiry, has suspended the police station in-charge Abid Farooq and the entire staff, the channel said.
All of them have been detained in the same lock-up where they kept the dancers for two days while further investigation is underway.

I don’t regret failure of any film: Madhuri Dixit

Her last outing “Aaja Nachle” may have failed and she may be based in the US, but that’s not stopping Bollywood’s dancing diva Madhuri Dixit from being part of the evolving entertainment industry in India. Still flaunting flawless skin and an evergreen smile, she says she has no regrets over any film.
The 43-year-old is back in business with what she is best at – dance. She will be judging Sony TV’s reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa”, and says the failure of “Aaja Nachle” in 2007 didn’t deject her one bit.
“I don’t regret doing anything. When you work in a film, you do it thinking it will turn out well and will do well. But when it doesn’t do well, there’s nothing much you can do about it. So why should I regret anything?” said Madhuri, looking rosy cheeked in an orange and yellow sari.
A resident of Denver, Colorado, where she lives with her husband Sriram Nene and two sons – Arin, 7, and Raayan, 5 – she is out of touch with Bollywood but wants to be part of the changing face of Indian cinema by trying her hand at new genres.
“My choice of scripts will always be based on what appeals to me in a role. Of course, I will be looking for different kinds of roles. It’s tough to say which role I have liked in recent times…but, yes, very different kinds of films are being made these days and it would be great to know what’s out there for me,” Madhuri told IANS in an interview.
She is here for a few months to shoot the reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” which goes on air Dec 12, and plans to flip through scripts during her three-month stay in India, but can’t stay here too long.
“This (Bollywood) is not the only life. I have another life (in the US) and I really love it. I do miss India and my friends here. So it’s like having two homes. When I am here, I miss my husband and children. When I am there, I miss people here.
“I can’t stay long. I send my kids to school, prepare breakfast, shop for vegetables, drop them and pick them from school and all those things. I can do one film and then go, one show and then go, but I can’t take too much on me,” she said.
Madhuri became a formidable name in the film industry with superhits like “Tezaab”, “Ram Lakhan”, “Tridev”, “Dil”, “Saajan”, “Khalnayak”, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun”, “Dil To Pagal Hai” and “Devdas”, and that too without a godfather.
Her dancing prowess, thanks to eight years of training in kathak, has wowed fans in songs like “Ek do teen”, “Humko aajkal hai”, “Dhak dhak”, “Choli ke peechhe”, “Chane ke khet mein”, “Didi tera devar deewana”, “Mera piya ghar aaya”, “Que sera sera” and “Maar daala”.
Even her sons appreciate her songs. “My elder son likes ‘Ek do teen’…he keeps singing it. They like songs from ‘Devdas’, ‘Aaja Nachle’. When I was coming here for ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, they were very excited and said – ‘Are we going to watch you on TV?’. And I was like, ‘Yes, you will.’”
Age has not touched her. She is fit as a fiddle and her grace, personality, smile and aura are as youthful as ever. With her kind of looks, no wonder most present day actresses don’t cringe before saying, “Main Madhuri Dixit banna chahti hoon”.
Madhuri blushed and humbly said: “Well, compliments always make you feel good. It’s not that I have come to this stage without doing anything. I have worked really hard to earn this recognition and when one works hard, it is nice to receive such compliments.”
What keeps her in shape?
“Well I do kathak back home. But it depends how much time I have…sometimes I devote an hour, sometimes half an hour. And it does help. Not only is it a physical exercise, it is beneficial spiritually. I like it so much. It makes me feel good, and I also do yoga,” she said.

Recording live after 30 years was fantastic: Asha Bhosle

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle is excited on recording live after 30 years – with singer and sitarist Shujaat Khan – for an album that will have traditional classical-based songs. She also feels if a song is melodious, then orchestra is unnecessary.
“Last time I recorded live with (Pakistani ghazal maestro) Ghulam Ali and it was 30 years back. At that time there used to be live recordings. This is my first live recording after that,” Asha, 77, told IANS in an exclusive interview.
Titled “Naina Lagai Re”, the album is being produced by Sa Re Ga Ma. Asha says she is collaborating with a classical musician after 14 years. Her last was with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan for “Legacy” in 1996.
With the influx of technology, the song recording system has changed significantly – now the singers don’t have to record the whole song in one go. They do it in bits and pieces. But Asha still prefers the traditional way of doing it.
“We used to sing songs in one go, but now we sing in small, small parts. I don’t want to adapt to that, so I do shows where we sing live with other artists or even solo. When we had to record this album live, we sang the whole song together,” said Asha.
“It was a fantastic experience as there was no interruption. Otherwise when we record, music directors create a huge problem by saying do it like this or like that. Here we just sang, if some part was sounding better, we repeated that part,” she added.
She didn’t have any discomfort singing with purely traditional instruments.
“I didn’t feel odd recording live with traditional instruments. It was rather nice because all tunes and rhythms were in sync and we had the liberty to improvise wherever required. We sang our heart out,” said the singer.
There were no rehearsals before recording.
“There wasn’t any rehearsal before recording. Whatever happened, it happened in the recording studio. But he had made me listen to some songs to give the feel, what kind of melody he was actually looking for,” said Asha, who in her more than 65-year-long career has sung over 12,000 songs in 18 languages.
Asha misses melody in today’s songs.
“There should be more melody in the song instead of orchestra. Orchestra sounds good in dance songs, otherwise it’s not required. If a song is well-written and sung well, the audience will automatically like it. It’s the magic of the singer and the composer that works,” said Asha.
She has been on a couple of music reality shows as a guest, but Asha believes these shows are not an ideal platform to judge one’s talent.
“I don’t see much of a bright future for the winners of reality shows. They sing others’ songs. When they have to sing their own song, then you will come to know their original ability,” said Asha.
Asked who among the new breed of playback singers she thinks can continue as long as her, Asha said: “Nowadays it’s tough to go that far. I started singing in 1943, I was a 10-year-old then. There used to be too many films and in each film, there used to be at least 14 to 15 songs.
“Later the films started having six to eight songs. There used to be heroine centric films, so there used to be many songs for female playback singers. Now there are a couple of item songs and very few for heroines.”
