Arbaaz Khan dumps wife Malaika for brother Salman’s girlfriend Katrina

Salman Khan’s brother Arbaaz Khan is to delve into movie production for the first time and has decided to cast Katrina Kaif in the lead role.

Arbaaz’s wife Malaika Arora Khan is not happy at all. Says a source, “Apparently, Malaika was supposed to be the lead heroine in Arbaaz’s first film as producer. But with the recent success achieved by Katrina, Arbaaz has decided that it would be a better option financially to replace his wife with his brother’s future wife.”

“As one would expect this has not gone down well with Malaika who is now threatening to leave him if he does the intended. Malaika is very jealous of Katrina and it is common knowledge that the two girls share cold vibes,” added the source.

Shahid throws party in Goa to close friends

Says a close friend of Shahid, "Last Saturday after his ad shoot in Goa for a luggage brand, Shahid hosted a surprise barbecue party on the lawns of his villa at the Taj Aguada. It was a party for close friends and acquaintances. Shahid, being a stickler for details, organised everything himself from the food to the wine."

Shahid admits, "Yes, I had a party for all my friends here in Goa. I just wanted to have a get-together. We all had a superb time! Now I am back in Mumbai and have started shooting for Vishal's (Bharadwaj) Kaminay."

A friend of the actor reveals details about the party, "There were hammocks and a huge bonfire. Though Shahid is strictly vegetarian, there were people in the party who weren't, so there were non-veg dishes on the menu as well. The food included barbecued and grilled paneer with a variety of sauces, grilled fish and chicken. There was even a bar set up and Shahid even played bartender. It was great to see Shahid in such a fun and totally chilled out mood."

The friend continues, "Shahid's party list included his trainer Abbas who travels with him everywhere, a few foreign models who feature in the ad, the ad crew, director Ken Ghosh, choreographer Ahmed Khan (with wife Saira), and some unit and cast members from Tips like producer Ramesh Taurani, Vatsal Sheth, and Sharman Joshi, who were shooting in Goa at the time, and a couple of Shahid's very close friends."

Says Shasha's friend, "As the DJ, Shahid played hip-hop tracks, his own hits, retro Hindi film songs, Justin Timberlake and songs from Amitabh Bachchan's films. Ken Ghosh challenged Shahid and Ahmed Khan to an impromptu dance contest. Shahid was voted the winner by the girls. Everyone had a blast and the party rocked till till 4 am. Every time the contestants would get tired they would do bench presses to get the adrenalin flowing."

Says Ken, "Yes Shahid held a very impromptu party. I had gone to Goa to discuss the dates for our shooting in December. It was a get-together for the unit of Kismet Connection (produced by Tips) old friends getting back together after the Toronto shoot last year. I wouldn't say Shahid won he was the mediator. As far as who's the winner well the jury's still out on the winner. We will have the best of 3 parties and decide!"

Ash and Abhi is shooting in deep jungle of Kerala for Mani Ratnam's Ravan. Ash is playing the character of Sita in the flick and to hide her from the world, the cast and the crew is taking much care of Ash. She is covered with blankets or umbrella during changeover and the security staff covers her van with bed sheets. The security is so strict that no one is allowed to loiter around the shooting area. No local people and no media people are given a chance to get a glimpse of the glamorous actress.

It is reported that she arrives on location dressed as a Tamil Brahmin lady. Mani Ratnam does not want any photographs of Ash to get leaked and so he is taking maximum care of the matter and is not allowing anyone other than the cast and the crew at the location. Since the shooting is taking place in a deep jungle, their cars can not reach the site. The cast and crew travels in jeeps provided by the forest authority. They travel in car to the forest entrance and after that they get into jeeps for the final journey to the shooting spot.

Ash and Abhi is staying in a beautiful resort beside the Aathirapilly waterfalls.

Lara Dutta writes a script for herself

Not happy with uninspiring roles being offered by filmmakers these days, actress Lara Dutta has now written a script for herself!

“What prompted me to write a script for myself? Scriptwriters in Bollywood aren’t writing anything in depth for a woman. Invariably the scripts glorify the hero while the heroine is the love interest. And the women-oriented films are half-baked attempts at feminist statements. Both to me are uninspiring,” Lara told IANS in an interview.

So will she take to direction as well?

“No I’m not ready to direct yet. And I can’t wait to start my film. I’ve done two drafts. And I think it needs one more draft, then I’m ready,” she said.

But, interestingly, Lara hasn’t written a woman-oriented film.

“It has equal space for the male and female protagonists. It’s not one of those feminist, in-your-face women’s films. The male lead will have a lot to contribute to my film.”

And, yes, Lara will produce the film. “We start soon. It will be a very commercial film. And I can’t wait.”

The former Miss Universe refused to reveal if Dino Morea, with whom she is linked, will play the lead in her film.

Asked when she found the time to write, Lara said: “I’ve always been a writer. I didn’t have time to write earlier. Now what I do is in-between shots, instead of chatting or sleeping, I write my script. Now I can’t write unless I’ve noise all around me.”

Lara’s mom has been critically unwell for some time now.

“My mom has been unwell for two years. So we’re mentally prepared for the inevitable. My mom went into the hospital when I was in Pollachi for ‘Billo Barber’. (But) I had to keep focussed on my work. That’s what being an actor is all about,” she said.

Raima confesses that she has a pretty bad taste in men. When Raima was gifted a lifetime subscription of the mag, a happy Raima said that ‘It might help me understand men better’. Raima finds ex-Bond man Pierce Brosman pretty charming and good-looking. About her ex-love Kunal Kapoor Raima says, “We do talk occasionally, but it’s just that his friend circle is different from mine. And if you want to beat him up, please be my guest”.

Sushmita Sen to play Benazir Bhutto

The guesses for the lead role in the movie on the Pakistan’s powerful lady politician Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated last year, has been abuzz for quite sometime now. Now, we have it that Sushmita Sen has finally bagged this role of her lifetime. The actress is also brushing up her Urdu for the role.

The movie, a biopic of the slain leader, will be a joint venture by Vox Vision and Sum Films and will be shot in Pakistan and England.

Sushmita was busy for quite some time with the making of ‘Rani Laxmi Bai’ and judging reality show ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’. She had done extensive research for ‘Rani Laxmi Bai’. She had learnt the martial arts and was ready to direct the film herself. Now, with Sush getting such a big opportunity the fate of her so-called dream project seems uncertain.
