Gaga tops charitable celebrities poll

Pop star Lady Gaga tops the charitable celebrities poll of the year, beating actress-musician Alicia Keys.

Gaga’s outspoken support for gay rights and her tireless efforts in the campaign for the repeal of US military’s ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy placed her at number one, just ahead of Keys who led the charge against HIV and AIDS in 2010.

The poll was combined by teen charity DoSomething.org, the Dailystar.co.uk reports.

Singer-actress Taylor Swift, Hollywood couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, actor Matt Damon and singer Justin Bieber all featured in the top 10.

The ‘O’Henry twist’, as it began to be called after the author who chiselled the most unexpected ending to a story into a fine art, has been done to death in literature and cinema. So much so that right at the beginning of a thriller, the most unexpected ending now comes first in the minds of a viewer.

For this expectation to be proven right against all hopes is the sign of sloppy writing and direction. ‘The Tourist’ is an example of that which neither the charisma of Angelina Jolie or the chutzpah of Johnny Depp can save.

Alexander is a mysterious man hunted both by the Scotland Yard and a gangster as he has stolen from both. He has gone ahead and got himself a face change. After asking his lover Elisa (Jolie) to choose the man most resembling him from a train to Venice to distract both, she chooses an unsuspecting tourist, a math teacher Frank (Johnny Depp) whose simple life is turned upside down as he becomes a wanted man.

Frank does not know what he has landed himself into. Even when he does, he does not mind as he has fallen in love with the gorgeous Elisa. With both the gangsters and Scotland Yard closing in on Elisa to find her husband, Frank is headed for something he can’t control.

It is hard to imagine that the man who gave one of the most poignant films of world cinema in ‘The Lives of Others’, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck could fall so flat on his face with his next.

The only thing the expectedly, unexpected thriller does manage is to be a trip through beautiful Venice. ‘Few Nights in Venice’ would perhaps have been a better title for this absolutely passable film that neither delights, not has the steam or pace to keep you either glued to your seats, or leave you with deep sighs of compassion as in ‘Lives of Others’.

John romances Priyanka in full monty

When John Abraham flaunted his butt in a yellow trunk in ‘Dostana’, he made girls fall weak at his knees. Now, this time he is preparing for another dhamaka. In Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’, John Abraham will be seen in full monty except a cap hiding his secret asset and romancing his co-star Priyanka Chopra.
The scene is very sensational and Vishal has shot the scene with minimum crew. John is playing one of the seven husbands of Priyanka in the film.
A source said, “John plays one of the seven husbands Priyanka Chopra has in the film. Incidentally, he has a very steamy love-making scene with Priyanka. The scene will actually show John completely naked with barely a cap covering his privates. The scene was shot with minimum crew on the sets. And they say when Vishal demands something in a scene, he refuses to have it any other way. So actors have to comply. John has always been comfortable with his body and knows that he can flaunt it.”   

Let’s see how Priyanka would handle monty John.

Priyanka, Shahid to share screen space

Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor are least bothered about what media cooked stories about their affair. At one moment, it is heard that Shahid and Priyanka are couple but the other moment, the news of their separation comes to hear. Whatever, Piggy Chops and Sasha are unperturbed with such rumors and when news is doing the rounds that they split up, the duo surprised all by signing another film together. They will be seen in Kunal Kohli's next film.

Confirming the news, a friend of Piggy’s said, “Kohli spoke to Priyanka. She loved the script and her role. She is trying to work out the dates.”

As for Piyanka having any issues working with Shahid, her pal added, “None. Shahid and Priyanka were very good friends and they remain so.”

Forgetting everything of the past, Shahid and Priyanka are keen to start their friendship in a new way.

Talking about Piggy Chops and Sasha’s chemistry, a source said, “Now that their fights no longer exist, Piggy and Sasha are at peace with each other it seems. They are now keen on spending as much quality time together as possible”.

Salman slaps fan at Anil Kapoor’s birthday party

Salman Khan is again in the news for all wrong reasons. He has again lost his temper over a fan. He has slapped one of his fans outside Anil Kapoor’s residence at his birthday party when he hugged and kissed him.

An eyewitness said, “The incident happened moments after Salman arrived at Anil Kapoor’s birthday bash. Just a few moments before this, Anil had escorted Salman’s father, Salim Khan, into the party. Salman was alighting from his car when all of a sudden a man, who appeared to be in his mid-20s and called himself Ajay, rushed towards him, hugged him and then kissed him.”

“It seems Salman was in very high spirits. Without batting an eyelid, Salman slapped Ajay”, said the eyewitness.

Ajay was not expecting this from his favorite star and was shocked when he was hit by Salman.

Anil Kapoor sensed something wrong as Sallu was taking too long to come to the party. He came down to check out the situation. Meanwhile, the exclusive footage of Salman slapping his fan was captured by media.

“Anil and Salim were wondering why Salman was taking so long to come, as they had already spotted Sallu’s car being parked outside the bungalow. Sensing the commotion, Anil went up to Salman Khan; he made a similar request regarding the footage,” said the witness.

After the dispute settled down, Salman enjoyed the party with his friends. The party included stars like Boney Kapoor, Karan Johar and Rani Mukerji and the party continued till dawn.

Lara, Bhupathi to wed in February

Lara Dutta and her boyfriend Mahesh Bhupathi gets candid on the show, ‘Koffee With Karan’ and confessed that they would tie the knot in February next year. They even spoke in length about their past relationship and how their past relationship went kaput.
Says a source, "Lara and Hesh appeared on the show on Wednesday night. When the KWK host quizzed them about their relationship and romance, they spoke openly and even discussed marriage plans.

When Karan asked them outright about the marriage date, they promptly replied that it would be in February 2011 and that their families were in the process of fixing the date.

Lara even told KJo how the tennis ace proposed to her in New York on Sept 12 this year."

Bhupathi was earlier married to Shwetha Jaishankar but later divorced her while Lara was in relationship with Kelly Dorjee and Dino Morea.
