Not interested in Rajesh Khanna's property: Anita Advani

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna passed away on July 18, 2012. He was 69. Anita Advani who claims to be his live-in partner from past eight years sent a legal notice to the superstar's family a day before he died, in a bid to ensure that she isn't evicted from his bungalow Aashirwad.

She now says, the house should be converted into a museum in accordance with his last wishes. Anita Advani has denied allegations that she is trying to claim his property.

During a recent interview she said, "I want Aashirwad to be made a museum. The allegations against me are wrong; I have no greed or interest in this property. This property should go to the people of the country and be made a museum."

As media reports claim, Rajesh Khanna's family forced her to leave the house and didn’t allow her to be present during his last rites as well. At present, Anita is staying with her sister in Grant Road, Mumbai.

Selena Gomez Wows In Hot Pink And Turns 20 At Teen Choice Awards

Not only did she win big at the Teen Choice Awards yesterday, but Selena Gomez managed to top the style stakes and turn 20 at the same time.

Selena left her teen years in a stunning hot pink minidress by Dsquared2 which accentuated her tiny waist with a kicky skirt and drop-waist pleats. The dress was from the brand’s Resort 2013 collection and looked great against Selena’s sunkissed skin.

And Bieber’s lady thought she’s add a touch of simplistic elegance to the vibrant frock with a towering pair of cream Herve Ledger sandals which elongated her slender legs and gave her some model height.
The Spring Breakers actress wore her long, brunette and dip-dyed tresses in a sleek, straight style and sported a sultry make-up look of smokey eyes and sheer pink lips. She kept accessories to a bare minimum to avoid detracting from the statement dress, only wearing a simple pair of metallic drop earrings.

Selena took home the Choice Music Group for her band ‘Selena Gomez and the Scene’ at the 14th annual Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, with a crowd of thousands at Los Angeles’s Gibson Amphitheatre celebrated Selena’s birthday, singing ‘Happy Birthday’ for the newly 20-year-old starlet.

"This is the best birthday present ever," Selena said upon receiving her Teen Choice surf board at the ceremony.

Jennifer Lopez Has Wardrobe Malfunction With Black Top And White Bra In NYC!

Jennifer Lopez failed to check her reflection out in the mirror today when she stepped out in the trendy Big Apple with beau Casper Smart to do a spot of shopping.

The 42-year-old all-round star should know better by now to not wear see-through black tops with white bras, but fashion pressures got the better of her when she decided to opt for the casual look in a t-shirt and jeans.

And while the outfit could have looked perfectly alright, Jen committed the ultimate fashion faux pas by donning a white bra underneath her super sheer black top. Schoolboy error.
Jen teamed the odd look with a pair of white skinny jeans, black flip flops and a blue print headscarf with oversized shades and hoop earrings.

We somehow wonder how neither herself or boyfriend Casper spotted the alarm ringing wardrobe malfunction before they left the house, or perhaps this was a deliberate fashion statement in aid to get some attention?

Kalki Koechlin in fun loving avatars

Known for her offbeat roles in "Dev D" and "Shaitan", Kalki Koechlin will soon be seen playing fun loving avatars in movies such as " Ek Thi Daayan" and " Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani".

The 29-year-old actress, who began her career playing a MMS scandal victim who turns into a prostitute in 2009 release "Dev D", was last seen portraying a student activist in "Shanghai".

"I am playing this bohemian happy-go-lucky girl in 'Ek Thi Daayan'. She is a very sweet 'non-daayan' like character. I do get into an unpredictable zone but the inherent sweetness doesn't go," Kalki told PTI.

The film, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, also stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Huma Qureshi.

"I am not necessarily a 'daayan' but then I could be the one! It is this very unpredictability about the film that I love most. It is a contemporary film set in today's Mumbai," Kalki added.

The actress is also busy these days shooting for the Karan Johar-produced "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani".

Talking about her character, Kalki said, "In this film I am playing a very loving girl, someone who everyone falls for. This is again the kind of character that I have never done before. I am getting into the shoes of this really 'bindaas', loud and funny girl."

"Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" stars ex-flames Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor and is directed by Ayan Mukerji.

Kate Middleton, Prince Harry And Prince William Get Ready For The Olympics

Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry are definitely ready to cheer on Team GB at London 2012, planning each and every single event they want to attend after the Olympics begin in Britain on Friday.

Kate Middleton, famed for being a royal fashionista, is expected to head along to watch the women's team play. After all, the Duchess was a keen hockey player herself during her schooldays at Marlborough College.

She will also join her husband Prince William in cheering on Andy Murray in the tennis events - fingers crossed there are no tears this time around!

Prince Harry, on the other hand, is rumoured to be heading along to watch the beach volleyball event at the Horse Guards Parade.

Oh OF COURSE he will be - bikini clad competitors are sure to get the cheeky redhead's attention, after all.

Prince Harry is also expected to watch Usain Bolt do his thing, after meeting (and racing against) the Jamaican sprinterafter his recent overseas Diamond Jubilee tour to Brazil and the Caribbean.

Unlike his cheeky brother, Prince William will PROBABLY steer clear of the beach volleyball (probably) and stick to the water polo, being as he used to play the sport during his university days.

It seems as if the fab threesome are the ultimate Team GB supporters, doesn't it?

The trio are set to welcome the Olympic Torch relay to Buckingham Palace on Thursday, the day before the Games’s opening ceremony, so we're expecting a serious fashion moment from Kate as she flies the flag for British fashion before the whole world.

A royal aide explained to the Telegraph that the royal faves have been looking forward to the Olympics ever since it was announced that london would be hosting the 2012 games:

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have been tremendously excited about the Olympics for a long time and want to throw themselves in to the Games and help out as much as they can."

“They will be out and about for much of the two weeks, but as well as watching the sports and meeting many of the athletes and visiting dignitaries, they hope to meet a whole cross-section of people, from volunteers to cooks in the Olympic village, who will make the Games a success.”

We can't wait to see the Royals strut their stuff at London 2012.

Kareena not to star opposite SRK in 'Chennai Express'

Director Rohit Shetty has quashed rumours of Kareena Kapoor being cast opposite Shahrukh Khan in his next project 'Chennai Express' and says that the leading lady will be zeroed in soon.

"I have not really (approached Kareena Kapoor), she knows what I am making. I might do something else with Kareena," Shetty told PTI, in an exclusive interview. Grapevine is abuzz that Deepika Padukone is likely to feature opposite King Khan in the film.
"Just wait for ten days and then everyone will come to know who it is. In ten days time, we will announce about our heroine," he said.

Interestingly for Shetty, 'Chennai Express' is the first film where he will be working without his close buddy Ajay Devgn. In all the eight films that Shetty has directed till date, Ajay has been a common factor but the director says that making an exception with CE, should not be taken otherwise.

"There is no fight, there is no negativity happening between us. We are working together for 'Singham 2'. I don't think people should question the bond we share," Shetty said.

Ask him if there is any scope where he can have Ajay Devgn doing a cameo in the film, the 39-year-old director says, "Not really as the script is almost ready. In two months we will start shooting."

'Chennai Express' will go on floors from the end of September and release would happen mid-next year.

Josh Hutcherson Lands Choice Sci-Fi Actor, Best Liplock

After a momentous year on the big screen, Josh Hutcherson made his way to the 2012 Teen Choice Awards in Universal City, CA on Sunday (July 22).

The 19-year-old big screen stud sent the crowd into a frenzy as he appeared onstage at the Gibson Amphitheatre venue after having skipped out on the jam-packed arrivals carpet.

Among the big winners during the course of the ceremony, Hutcherson nabbed Choice Movie Actor: Sci-Fi/Fantasy accolades along with Choice Movie Liplock for his steamy smooch with "The Hunger Games" co-star Jennifer Lawrence.

With Josh & co.'s blockbuster movie also nabbing Choice Movie Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Choice Book surfboards, the first installment from the popular franchise fared quite well for itself at the Teen Choice ceremony hosted by Demi Lovato and Kevin McHale.

Thief enters Bachchan's bungalow, steals Rs 8,000

Mumbai: He was able to swipe just Rs 8,000, but managed to give some anxious moments to Bollywood’s first family. Early in the morning on July 20, Dilip Kevat scaled the wall of Jalsa — the bungalow of Amitabh Bachchan — overcame the nets placed to stop intruders, and got into the house with the intention of robbery. While he was sifting through the belongings, he was spotted by one of the family members, who raised an alarm and called security. The guards soon caught the person and later handed him over to Juhu police.

Cops said that while frisking him they found Rs 8,000 from the accused. Sources say that the crook is in police custody and is being questioned. He recently arrived here from Uttar Pradesh and knew it was Amitabh Bachchan’s house.

Deewar no bar!

"He had mounted the rear wall and then jumped onto the balcony. He found some cash inside a room and took it. He was then detected and caught by security."
Deputy commissioner of police (Zone IX) Pratap Dighavkar said, “He has been sent to police custody for 14 days. We found that he had no intention of harming anyone. He found some loose cash and picked it up. The security guards caught him and handed him over to the police.”

Bachchan bol

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his blog, “Spent some anxious moments yesterday since we had a break in! The guy was caught and is with the police now under investigation. Seems like a professional, for he had entered the most sensitive area of the house, Jalsa."

"Cops and security are in overdrive now. In the end nothing is secure, irrespective of how much precaution one takes," Bachchan added.

'The Dark Knight Rises' reportedly earns $160 million, record for a 2D film

Los Angeles: 'The Dark Knight Rises' was on track to earn $160 million, which would be a record for 2D films, over the weekend following a mass shooting at a Colorado screening of the Batman film.

Citing box office insiders, The Hollywood Reporter, Los Angeles Times, New York Times and other media outlets reported Sunday that the latest Batman sequel earned $160 million to $162 million.

That amount would best the $158.4 million debut of 'The Dark Knight' in 2008 and give 'Dark Knight Rises' the third-highest domestic weekend opening ever, after the 3D films 'The Avengers' with $207.4 million and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2' with $169.2 million.
The Hollywood Reporter also cited box office sources who said 'Dark Knight Rises' earned $70 million from nine of the 17 countries where it debuted over the weekend, including the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea and Spain.

Movie Review: The Dark Night Rises

Tickets for 3D films cost a few more dollars than 2-D screenings, netting extra cash at the box office. Movies released in 3D typically earn under half of their income in 3D screenings, sometimes as little as a third.

Sony, Fox, Disney, Paramount, Universal and Lionsgate joined 'Dark Knight Rises' distributor Warner Bros in publicly withholding their usual revenue reports out of respect for the victims of the deadly shooting early Friday and their families.

Box-office tracking service Rentrak also did not report figures following the Aurora, Colorado, shootings that killed 12 and injured 58 at a midnight screening of the new Batman sequel on Friday.

"This tragedy did not seem to impact the box office in a major way," said Paul Dergarabedian, an analyst for Hollywood.com who specializes in box office. "For this film to still be in the rarified air of the top-three openings of all time is phenomenal, given the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the release of this film."

Dergarabedian noted that the box-office ranking of director Christopher Nolan's final installment of his Batman trilogy would not be official until Warner Bros. and other studios release their final weekend box-office tallies Monday.

Anne Hathaway, who plays Catwoman in the film, became the third member of "The Dark Knight Rises" cast and crew to express her condolences after arriving home in the United States from Paris, where Warner Bros. quickly canceled a premiere Friday night.

"My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomable senseless act," the actress said in a statement. "I am at a loss for words how to express my sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."

Bollywood going gaga over 'lavani' numbers

After raunchy item numbers, Bollywood actresses seem to be enamoured with 'lavani', a Maharashtrian folk dance and are leaving no stone unturned to emerge as the 'lavani queen' of the B-town.

As Katrina Kaif's Chikni Chameli and Vidya Balan's Mala Jau De dance numbers got rave reviews for their folk dance performances, Rani Mukherjee is the latest addition to this list.

In her upcoming film Aiyaa, the leading lady of the film-- Rani Mukherjee does three item numbers in her dream and lavani is one of that. Rani plays the role of a Marathi girl in the film and is paired opposite southern star Prithvi Raj.
Directed by Sachin Kundalkar, Aiyaa is co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Viacom 18 is slated to release in October end this year.

Lavani has been a hit with dancing divas like Helen, who gave an unforgettable performance in Mungla song in Inkaar (1977), Madhuri Dixit's Humko Aajkal Hai from Sailaab (1990), Main Kolhapur Se Aayi Hoon from Anjaam (1994).

After Madhuri Dixit's lavani performance, this dance form had more or less disappeared from Bollywood, only to make a comeback in Karan Johar's remake Agneepath. British Indian actress Katrina, through her foot-thumping Chikni Chameli performance proved that she can also be a desi Marathi girl.

"It (Chikni Chameli) was very fast and it was not a style I was used to, but I took it as a challenge. I worked very hard for this song," Katrina had said.

Ace choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who had directed Katrina's moves in the song, says, "Katrina has given all the power and dedication that was needed. I think only she could have done a song like Chikni Chameli and nobody else."

In Vidhu Vinod Chopra's home production, Vidya Balan danced to a lavani, her first such special number in Ferrari Ki Sawaari.

While doing this song, Vidya had looked up to noted actresses Madhuri Dixit and late Smita Patil for inspiration.

"For the lavani song my inspiration is Madhuri. I liked her song Humko Aaj Kal and I also admire Smita Patil's performance in Bhoomika," Vidya had said.

Vidya practised hard for this song to perfect her steps for the dance form. "I was happy when this song was offered to me. It was always my dream to do a lavani song. I am not a trained dancer...I had to put in a lot of effort," she said.

Apart from Bollywood beauties, an American dancer is likely to be seen doing the Maharashtrian folk dance.

The winner of US TV show, So You Think You Can Dance, Lauren Gottlieb is likely to be seen doing a lavani number in Remo D'Souza's 3D Dance film AnyBody Can Dance (ABCD).

However, Sachin Kundalkar feels despite such hullaballoo about lavani songs in Bollywood, there isn't a distinctive song that has been churned out well since many years.

"Lavani song is not all about dance. It is about composition, beats...and everything should be there. I don't feel there is any real...true lavani song that I have seen in Bollywood off late," Kundalkar told PTI.

"We have a lavani song in your film Aiyaa picturised on Rani. We have maintained all the typical elements of a lavani dance form in this song," he said.

Movie Review: Intouchables

For lovers of world cinema -- particularly French movies -- here comes a heartwarming tale -- not to mention, dubbed in English -- with all its various non-lingual elements well intact

Movie: Intouchables
U/A; Drama
Dir: Olivier Nakache, Eric Toledano
Cast: Francois Cluzet, Omar Sy, Anne Le Ny
Rating: ****

Constantly bordering on the verge of feel-goodness, Intouchables is however an honest attempt to dilute the racial and class divide prevalent in our so-called modern society. Though the narrative appeals more to the Gallic multicultural complexities, the tone is pretty much universal.
Based on a true story, it explores an unlikely bonding between a paralysed French aristocrat (Francois Cluzet) and his immigrant caretaker (Omar Sy) who is not only an ex-con but also someone who clearly doesn’t qualify for the job in the first place. As the film rolls on, he ends up accomplishing way more than he is expected to. And effortlessly teaches his rich boss some tricks in the art of living.

The most admirable part about this friendship is it lacks formal sympathy and grows on mutual respect. This attitude also allows humour to crystallise. Yes, some moments do hinge on blatant stereotypes but fits well within its almost two-hour canvas.

Given the paraplegic nature of the protagonist, this drama might remind you of Amenábar’s The Sea Inside or Schnabel’s The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Having said that, Intouchables carries a far too lighter cross on its shoulder and avoids microscoping on unfairness. Come to think of which, it drags the audiences away from reality with an aim to arouse passion, not compassion. Without an able cast, this approach would have fallen flat on its cinematic nose.

Despite having nothing else but a face to express, Cluzet does a commendable job on his vulnerable wheelchair. Complementing his efforts, Sy initially comes out as somebody who wouldn’t care less before transforming himself into one of the most affable characters to ever grace the big screen. The supporting cast is admirable except when they are dancing!

The script written by the two sharp directors cleverly balances giggles with sentiments and avoids going over the top which is a common drawback of movies with similar backdrop. Intouchables seems like a bridge between black and white but on a closer observation, it’s pointing to that grey shade called life. Here’s the spoiler: In all probability, you’ll be touched by this film. And in the meantime, you’ll also wonder why isn’t it in French.

Hazel Keech is raking in the moolah for her item song

A birdie chirps to say that Hazel Keech is working overtime after her item number Aa Ante Amlapuram.

Though the film starring Sonu Sood bombed at the box office, the starlet has gained big time in shows. She is in demand for stage shows and to perform at lavish weddings not only all over the country but abroad as well. Also, being Salman Khan’s friend helps!
