Pakistani Actress Veena Malik's 'dirty' shoot halts traffic

Veena Malik recently caused traffic jam in Bangalore while shooting for her maiden Kannada movie Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga. When the actress stepped out of her caravan, the crowd became uncontrollable, reports Mail Today. The actress was shooting near Kempe Gowda bus station, the busiest hub of the IT city. The shoot started last week in studios.

Though security issues were taken care of, crowd could not be controlled when sultry Veena stepped out in public. Police had to come in the picture for managing the crowd.

"This response is unbelievable. I am sure the movie will be a hit," Veena Malik said.

Trishul, the director of the film, says his story is different from The Dirty Picture. "I have written a fresh story and it has a lot of native elements that is peculiar to Karnataka. But I thought the title, The Dirty Picture, will suit the story very well. The title has been cleared by KFC and we are legally bound to use it for the film.

Movie Review: Bol Bachchan

Movie: Bol Bachchan
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Asin, Prachi Desai, Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek
Director: Rohit Shetty
Genre: Comedy

This one’s strictly for Bollywood junkies whose funny bones are easy to tickle. Yes, Bol Bachchan is a hot air balloon with no air, hot or otherwise. So expect no genuine comic highs.

It is certainly not my cup of lassi, as Prithviraj Raghuvanshi, the “I can talk English, I can walk English’ character played by Ajay Devgn, would say.

But that’s not to say there is nobody in this world that might take a shine to this laboured comic carousel. Good luck to all ye hardy souls!

Director Rohit Shetty, as he switches gears noisily from high-purpose action (Singham) to scraping-the-bottom-of-the-barrel comedy, pays homage to Hindi cinema of the 1970s and 1980s, but it’s all unalloyed Golmaal (hodgepodge) that only goes round (gol) in circles and delivers no goods (maal) worth the name.

Bol Bachchan borrows its basic premise from the Hrishikesh Mukherjee classic, Golmaal – the story of a man who is forced to rustle up a non-existent mustachioed twin to keep his difficult-to-please employer in good humour – and twists it completely out of recognizable shape with a stretched yarn that has neither the charming spontaneity nor the delicious subtlety of the original.

Along the way, Bol Bachchan alludes to Amitabh Bachchan starrers like Deewar, Parvarish, Kasme Vaade and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. The Big B connection is laid on thick right at the outset with a song-and-dance prelude that has the male leads, Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan, match steps with the one-time one-man industry.

“I’m not in the film, only my name is,” the megastar helpfully tells the camera.

That’s the problem with Bol Bachchan at every level – it only skims the surface of all its sundry inspirations. It rips off a Hrishida film but the legendary touch of the man who made the delectable Golmaal (besides other fine comedies) is conspicuous by its absence.

Rohit Shetty has done his share of Golmaal-mongering over the years and made pots of gold in the bargain. With Bol Bachchan, the idea clearly is to quickly mop up Rs 100 crore at the box office before the audience can cotton on to the ploy. Do narrative niceties really matter in such a scenario? So there.

Abbas Ali (Abhishek Bachchan) is the Ramprasad Sharma of Bol Bachchan. But he is neither a nerd nor a nice guy in the Amol Palekar mould.

Out of work and down on luck, the Delhi boy and his little sister, Sania (Asin Thottumkal), relocate to Ranakpur, a village that looks like it would rather be a dusty city.

In the so-called village, Abbas breaks a temple lock to save a drowning boy. To ward off the ire of the devotees, he assumes a false identity.

Now known as Abhishek Bachchan, he lands a job with the local feudal lord, the aforementioned Prithviraj Raghuvanshi, a muscle-flexing marauder who plays Frisbee with human bodies and has violent bust-ups with a cussed cousin and his henchmen to protect his turf.

Prithviraj’s writ runs in Ranakpur. He detests liars and digs English as it’s spoken in his backyard. ‘English is a funny language: pineapple has neither pine nor apple,” he says, pointing to a birthday cake.

That’s true of the film itself. Bol Bachchan is a funny film where all the fun comes at the expense of the film.

Each time Abbas’ bluff is in danger of being called, he cooks up a new story to save his skin. He talks an ageing mujra dancer, Zohra (Archana Puran Singh), into standing in as his mother when his boss insists on visiting him.

He then spins a yarn about the existence of an effeminate Muslim twin only to have the fictitious guy being promptly hired by Prithviraj as kathak tutor for the latter’s sister Radhika (Prachi Desai).

As the lies multiply and Prithviraj’s English goes from bad to worse (success is the keyhole to saxophone; every penny discounts; your eardrums are playing drums; boy in armpit, hyper city noise pollution, et al), the film dutifully keeps pace with the worsening lunacy.

Bol Bachchan ends the only way it could have – on a see-sawing car dangling from the side of a precipice with the two male leads negotiating long-term peace between their warring families.

The acting is generally so unabashedly hammy that you might be forgiven for wondering whether you have wandered into a pigsty.

Be warned. Bol Bachchan is a comedy so absurd that it could reduce you to tears of despair. Conversely, if you have the stomach for such rampant silliness, it might propel you into paroxysms of delight. The call is entirely yours.

Sridevi, Kareena to clash at box office

Mumbai: Sridevi's comeback film English Vinglish will clash with Kareena Kapoor's much talked about Heroine at the box office as both the films are coming out Sep 21. The former's producer R. Balki is unperturbed.

Both are women-centric films - but after much deliberation, English Vinglish co-producers Balki and Eros Entertainment have decided to stick to the original release date.

While English Vinglish is directed by Balki's wife, Gauri Shindi, while Madhur Bhandarkar wielded the shot for Heroine.

"We believe every film, no matter what the gender of its protagonist, has its own audience. I am sure Madhur Bhandarkar's film (Heroine) will be very exciting. But the prospect of seeing Sridevi again is equally exciting," said Balki.

Having had his say, Balki is now ready to move into the shadows, and "let the two ladies have their say".

"I have done what I had to. I'm just the film's producer. Now it's up to Sri and Gauri to take the film to the audience," he added.

Interestingly, English Vinglish has a cameo by Bollywood's Amitabh Bachchan and he did it free of cost.

"With Amitji, I wouldn't dare to discuss money," said Balki, who For NDTV Updates,

directed the megastar in Cheeni Kum and Paa.

Indian body type not suited for a bikini: Deepika Padukone

Mumbai: Actress Deepika Padukone would be seen flaunting a bikini in her forthcoming film 'Cocktail', but the actress feels that Indian body type is not naturally suited for the costume.

"I wish it was so easy and natural. I think the Indian body type is somehow not suited for a bikini. We as Indians have to work a little extra hard if we wish to carry it off," the 26-year-old said here Thursday while unveiling the Melange Cocktail fashion collection.

Talking about her regime for the bikini shot, she said, "I changed my workout slightly. Basically, I just had to sacrifice going out for dinners every time Dino (producer Dinesh Vijan) took the cast out for dinners. I would just sit in my room alone and ate steamed fish and not have any dessert."

But once the shoot was over, Deepika let herself loose.

"I remember being so disciplined that the day I finished the bikini shoot and I knew I could start eating normally. He (Vijan) took me out for dinner and I had this big chocolate dessert. Food and desserts, I think the restaurant ran out of food," said Deepika humorously.

The film also stars Saif Ali Khan and model Diana Penty and hits theatres on July 13.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are 'still together' despite being plagued by rows

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have reportedly broken up multiple times in the last few months.

Apparently the pop stars most recently decided to end their relationship last week but have since rekindled and are giving their relationship another try.
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez looked happy together at the weekend in LA but there are rumours they are on the rocks
A source told website TMZ.com that 18-year-old Justin and 19-year-old Selena's current situation is tenuous and stated that they are not a 'solid' couple.

'They’re still together,' a source close to the couple tells JustJared.com 'They had a pretty big fight but made it through.'

The two have been dating for around a year and a half and while Disney actress Selena has maintained her squeaky clean image, Justin has been faced with some controversy recently.

Recent reports claimed that Justin may have to face jail if convicted on criminal charges for an altercation with a photographer.

Justin recently said he thinks he could take One Direction in a fight.

Although the 'Boyfriend' hitmaker knows he couldn't beat the boy band if they all attacked him as a group, he is confident he could hold his own individually against Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne.

He is quoted as saying: 'I'd get my ass kicked (against all of them). But one-on-one I'd take them. I'd try a spin-kick. To the face.'

One of Justin Bieber's album tracks was written about a gay love affair.

The 18-year-old pop star recorded 'Bigger' for his first album 'My World' without knowing it was about two men breaking up.

However, songwriter Frank Ocean, recently revealed details about the track and his sexuality.

The R'N'B singer, who has also written songs for Beyonce Knowles and Kanye West, wrote on his website about his relationship with a boy as a youngster.

The couple were very much together at the LA premiere of Katy Perry: Part of Me on June 27

He said: 'Four summers ago, I met somebody. I was 19 years old. He was too. We spent that summer, and the summer after, together. It was hopeless.'

The 24-year-old appeared on two songs from Jay-Z and Kanye West's collaborative album 'Watch the Throne.'

Def Jam record label founder, Russell Simmons, wrote in a post that he is moved by Frank's 'courage and honesty.'

He wrote on his Global Grind website yesterday: 'Today is a big day for hip-hop. Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many young people still living in fear.'

Flea of rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers tweeted: 'Strong move by Frank Ocean, makes me happy.'

Nearly there! A very pregnant Kourtney Kardashian indulges in retail therapy as due date approaches

Expectant mother Kourtney Kardashian and her own matriarch Kris Jenner were spotted getting in a little retail therapy before the new baby arrives today.

The pair perused out a few newborn goodies at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills.
Kourtney Kardashian sported a huge baby bump today as she got in some retail therapy relaxation

The 33-year old – who has a two-year old son Mason with boyfriend Scott Disick – wore her full-length black dress and covered her shoulders with a long white laced shawl.

The build up to the birth is becoming intense, with Kourtney's Twitter account the centre of much speculation.

The eldest Kardashian sister replied to one of the inquiries on her Twitter feed: 'Lol. I’m not even due yet! RT@Heather***: @KourtneyKardash when are you giving birth? You’ve been pregnant longer than Jessica Simpson was.'
Mommy and me: Kris leads the way as a clearly tired Kourtney leaves the store
There is a sense that there is a strain on Kourtney's relationship as the pregnancy rolls on.

Kourtney and her boyfriend Scott have been hot and cold to one another since their relationship began six years ago, but he's committed to their unborn daughter and has pledged to 'go above and beyond to spoil her.'

At the end of the last Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the couple promised to try to get along for the sake of their two-year-old son and soon-to-be born daughter.
Doting daddy: Scott and Mason headed to Kushiya while mommy enjoyed her shop
Kourtney even admitted it's her fault Scott doesn't feel included in the family, and presented him with a love bracelet.

'You're not disposable and I don't want you to feel that way,' she told him. Their vow to get along, however, doesn't seem to be lasting.

Blubs for the very first time: Madonna breaks down during a performance of Like a Virgin... but it was all just for show

She's flashed her nipple, shown off her bottom and had a dig at her younger rival Lady Gaga.

So you'd think there wasn't really much more that Madonna could do to leave her audience open-mouthed and aghast at her antics - until last night.

The Material Girl was in Berlin last night at the O2 World Arena where she is playing two dates as part of her MDNA world tour.

Madonna sunk to her knees as she sang a throaty slow version of Like A Virgin to her audience in Berlin last night
The veteran pop star plays a mixture of her new material and her pop classics and last night was no exception as she treated the audience to her 1984 hit Like A Virgin.

And she gave the classic 80s pop tune a Caberet-style twist as she sunk to her knees and performed a slowed-down version of the song.
Madonna started crying as she started to sing the chorus
As a man in a top hat and tails accompanied her on the piano, Madonna started singing the song in a throaty deep voice before crawling across the stage and stopped on all fours as the crowd went wild.

Propping herself up on a black cane, she got to the chorus as a semi-naked dancer made his way to her across the stage.
Semi-naked man to the rescue! As Madonna stopped her fake blubbing, one of her male dancers headed over to her...
Then, as she sang the line, 'your love thawed out what was scared and cold', she leaned against her cane and started to cry.

Still sobbing, she then launched into the chorus as the dancer cradled her in his arms, picked her up and fastened a corset around her.
Feeling shiny and new? The dancer held Madonna close as her tears subsided...
As she finished the song, he tenderly took her hair down before tugging at the corset strings, causing Madonna to gasp out theatrically.

Her theatrics certainly made a change from flashing the flesh to thousands of people, but the singer has been warned that her antics on stage will not be tolerated when she arrives in Russia at the beginning of August.
Theatrical: Madonna gasped out as her dancer pulled the corset tight
Earlier this year, St Petersburg passed a resolution that forbids the 'promotion of homosexuality' and some advised Madonna to cancel her concert there on August 9.

But the singer said she will not back down and added: 'I will come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community and to give strength and inspiration to anyone who is or feels oppressed. I'm a freedom fighter. … I don’t run away from adversity. I will speak during my show about this ridiculous atrocity.'
