SRK-Salman fight for Murugadoss

Thirty-plus A R Murugadoss created ripples in Bollywood when he delivered the fourth biggest hit in the history of Hindi cinema with Ghajini.

The film that had Aamir Khan and Asin was a remake of the Kollywood film of the same title with heartthrob Suriya. Soon after Ghajini, there were trade whispers in Mumbai saying that Murugadoss would direct the Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan. But the latest news from the grapevine has it that a leading Mumbai producer is working on bringing Murugadoss and Salman Khan together for his next project!

Says our source, If talks fructify , Murugadoss may do a film with Salman in 2012. At the moment, the Ghajini director is under contract with a leading foreign studio for their next film. However, as soon he wraps that up, he may look at doing a film with Salman.''

However, it looks like SRK will beat his archrival Salman in the race for the filmmaker. A source reveals, Murugadoss had a couple of meetings with SRK when he was busy with production work on his current Tamil film, 7am Arivu. He is likely to sign that film once he completes work on the Suriya starrer. As far as Salman is concerned, the director has not yet met him and the project will take quite some time to shape up.

Amitabh wins 'distinguished personality' award

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan was named the most distinguished personality of 2010 at the BIG Television Awards here.

He says TV is a "complex and vibrant" medium and he admires the small screen fraternity that works tirelessly.

"So I went to the BigFm TV Awards and came back with one .. the most distinguished personality of the year in TV for the last year...," Amitabh posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com, following the event Tuesday night.

The 68-year-old, who will be back on the small screen with " Kaun Banega Crorepati 5" starting Aug 15, is in awe of those who work round-the-clock for the small screen.

"The TV industry a revelation for me...a most complex and vibrant medium .. a difficult medium to be in, and most of all a tough medium to be connected with. It takes the mickey out of you when you are asked to perform for it...and I speak from experience," he wrote.

"Hence my great admiration for all those that are connected with it, and continue to work each day for its betterment .. takes a lot out of the artistes and personalities that labor day and night in its working," he added.

Amitabh made his TV debut with the first season of "Kaun Banega Crorepati" in 2000, against the wishes of his family and friends.

"When I was given the opportunity to work in it for the first time for 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', everyone told me I was making the biggest mistake of my life. Today, after receiving recognition, I am happy to have made that mistake!"

"Kaun Banega Crorepati" is the Indian version of the internationally popular "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" The upcoming season will be aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

Competition doesn't bother me: Sheena

Her entry in the world of entertainment was marked in a tad different way.

Sheena Shahabadi started her career by playing a pregnant teenager in her debut Hindi film Teree Sang. Later on she acted in Fast Forward. Daughter of actor Sadhana Singh and her producer husband, acting is in her DNA. "I had decided to be an actress when I was just five years old and stopped taking interest in any thing apart from films. After the initial resistance, mom helped me realise my dreams. My father could accept my decision only when he first saw me on camera," she says.

She seems annoyed with the conception that star kids are offered everything on a platter. "Star kids have their share of struggle too! Being a star kid is a burden. There is a need to perform well as people have a lot of expectations from them and living up to that expectation is stressful." After a long hiatus Sheena's got a fairly crowded platter with two movies, Raqut - Ek Rishta and an untitled movie. So what was the reason for such a long break (read two years). Pat comes the reply, "I was doing movies in the south and wanted to do good projects in Bollywood."

With so many newcomers in the film industry, does she feel the pressure of competition? "There is a lot of competition in Bollywood but I find it challenging. Competition doesn't bother me much as I compete with myself," she says.

Like her debut movie, Sheena fell in love at very young age, quickly got married and got divorced even faster. She now finds it better to be on her own. "I was so young so I couldn't differentiate right and wrong. Everyone makes mistakes. I made blunders and learnt my lessons. I think I can do without a man. Being single is really cool," says Sheena.

Vidya's bathtub scene trouble!

Acting is not an easy job. Being Silk Smitha seems to be even less so. Vidya Balan would surely attest to that. While playing the late item girl in Ekta Kapoor's Dirty Picture, directed by Milan Luthria, Vidya has encountered an unexpected problem.

Looks like, the film in which Vidya was supposed to indulge in a lot of skin show has managed to spoil her skin. After shooting for a bathtub scene, the actress developed a skin rash so severe that she had to be hurried to a dermatologist.

The skin disaster happened while Vidya was shooting for a bathing scene in Film City, Goregaon. Clad in a towel, the actress stepped into a tub filled with soap water. After some time, her skin started feeling rough. She ignored it initially. But when the rough patches gave way to red rashes, she raised the alarm.

A source revealed, "Vidya soon realised that she had developed an allergy. The rash spread all over her body. She quickly got dressed. Abandoning the shoot, she went to see the doctor immediately."

Though some would like to blame the production unit for using unhygienic water for the shoot, our source claimed, "Balaji Motion Pictures had organised for mineral water to be filled in the bathtub. Luthria is very particular about his actors getting the best.

Despite the precautions, Vidya developed the allergy. It could be due to the bathtub, which was hand painted. It could be the soap or maybe just the fact that she had remained in soap water for a long time."

However a leading dermatologist from Andheri (West) attributes the allergic reaction to the quality of soap used. "Like most other actresses, Vidya too must be using a soap with a lesser percentage of alkali.

The soap used must have had a higher alkali content causing the skin to break out in rash. This happens when a person is exposed to soap water for a very long time," said the doctor.

The scene however, did not suffer as much as Vidya. "Hiccups are not uncommon to a shoot. This was one such incident in Dirty Picture. The first schedule in Mumbai has been completed. The second schedule kicks off in Hyderabad in a few days. Vidya will have time till then to recover completely. Hopefully, she'll be fine by then," concluded our source.

Vidya chose not to respond to our text messages. Ditto for Ekta and Milan Luthria.

Jacqueline won't promote Murder 2?

Jacqueline Fernandez
It is believed that Sri Lankan beauty won't be able to allocate much time for the promotions of Mohit Suri's forthcoming film Murder 2.

The actress will be in London shooting Sajid Khan's next while promotional activities kick start back home. According to sources, M2 doesn't offer much scope to Jacqueline. Also, Sajid has given prior instructions to his crew members to not to give any dates for any other project during Housefull 2.

Sajid's film will be shot entirely in London and therefore it will be practically impossible for the actress to be available for the promotions. Sources also say that Sajid has promised his current favourite Jacqueline a perfect launch through H2. Unlike in Housefull, wherein Jacqueline's role was restricted to just one item song, the actress will have a substantial role in the sequel which also stars Asin and Zareen Khan in lead roles.

Reportedly Jacky, who is in London, shares a great rapport with Sajid. We hope their camaraderie does well for the gorgeous lasses career.

Deepika, Sidhartha still going strong

Deepika Padukone has been stationed in London for weeks on end now, immersed neck-deep in her film shoots.

All work and no play has actually made her slightly dull, but ironically, the Bangalore beauty has been making headlines more for her love life than her career. Recent media reports on her 'cozying up to a man' at an elite night club in London, followed closely by her current date liquor baron Sid's personal trysts with other models hasn't sat down well with Deepika.

A source informs, Deepika is unwilling to set the record straight and give interviews on her personal life because she hasn't openly admitted to Sidhartha Mallya. However, the fact remains that these two youngsters genuinely like each other and are 'an item' in social circuits. Nothing has changed on that front even though Deepika is in London and Sid has been moving in the Indian social circles.''

The source adds that the mystery of the man who was dancing with Deepika in London has been solved. It was her director Homi Adjania, with whom she has been shooting Cocktail. The funny bit here is that Homi's wife Anhaita Shroff Adjania was also with Deepika and Homi on that night in London, yet the media reports conveniently held back that bit of information. says the source.

An eyewitness from London says, Deepika and Homi did share a dance. But that hardly means anything. Anhaita and some other unit members were also around. Too much was made out of nothing.''

One hears there is no truth to Deepika sharing warm vibes with John Abraham, her co-star in Desi Boyz, either. As for Sidhartha, since he is one of the most eligible bachelors in the Indian social circuit, quite often he finds himself getting unwarranted attention from girls, especially wannabes like a certain calendar model.

However, for the media to make a mountain out of a molehill is preposterous.
Incidentally, Deepika is also amused that while she is away, Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha have been trying to stake their claims to projects with Ranbir Kapoor and Rajinikanth. Says our source, Karan Johar and Ayan Mukerjee haven't closed negotiations with Deepika on their Ranbir project. Kat may bag this film, but it's still a 'may bag it' situation as of today.''

As for Rana, the thought of casting Sonakshi may have crossed the filmmakers' minds. But as far as Superstar Rajini himself is concerned, he apparently voted for Deepika from day one.

Guess that should put an end to further speculation on Deepika's personal and professional life for the moment.

We may have been beaten in CCL, but not broken, says Sudeep

Actor-director Sudeep may have been moved to tears when his team Karnataka Bulldozers lost the cup to Chennai Rhinos at India’s first ever Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) tournament, but now that he’s back home, he insists, “We may have been beaten, but we’re not broken.”

For the team that had, until the finals, won every single match — the loss came more as a surprise. “It does hurt, especially if you look at the kind of effort that each of the actors on the team has put in,” says Sudeep. It also happened to be the one team that almost everybody present felt would win the cup.

So what really changed on the big day? “I would say it was a bad day. We ended up making all our mistakes on one day, but that unfortunately happened to be the day that really mattered. Yes, this is a game and we are not cricketers but professional actors. But ours was the team that took the game most seriously. Some of the other team owners even told us that they were revamping their own teams to at least try to match up to the kind of dedication that our team showed. We had set a benchmark in a way. Which is why losing this match meant a lot more than just a game,” he explains.

However, each time you fall, you only get back up stronger and more determined. Likewise is the case with Karnataka Bulldozers, says Sudeep. “The next season of CCL will take place in February 2012 (the tournaments will take place in February each year — it was delayed this year due to the World Cup). The management is looking at laying down new rules to bring in an increased level of proficiency. We were runners up this time. We will gear up well for the next season. I am aware that the other industries will do the same too, so this is just getting bigger,” promises the captain.
