I'm the best item girl: Yana

Having garnered great appreciation for 'Laila O Laila', Yana thinks she is the 'ultimate' dance diva.

With so many of our Bollywood belles doing the special naach-gaana, it becomes difficult to pick the hottest. So when we met Yana Gupta, who is seen in the sizzling number Laila O Laila from the film 'Chalo Dilli', we asked her to do the job for us.

"Of course, I'm the best item girl around," said Yana, who showed us what she was all about in 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja'. "My participation in the reality show has helped me a great deal. It helped me look better, perform better, feel better. I think I did a good job!"

She adds, "However, if you ask me to pick the most authentic item girl, it has to be Malaika Arora Khan. She is simply superb. She has been around for years now, and people love to see her comeback and do a dance every once in a way."

Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh are vying for the Most Boring Couple award...

Actors Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh may have sizzled together in 'Band Baaja Baaraat', but with the two of them constantly denying their relationship, they are coming across as quite boring. Anushka Sharma has now gone ahead and said that she shares a 'karmic' relationship with Ranveer. They are deeply connected in some way, but she continues to deny a romantic liasion.

It has become a trend not to wear your boyfriend on your arm these days. Priyanka-Shahid, Vidya Balan-Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Katrina-Ranbir, Deepika-Siddharth are some of them, who just won't divulge their relationship status.

However, Anushka and Ranveer are shooting for 'Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl', and some hot and happening love talks will begin doing the rounds more towardes the release date of the film.

Minissha dons bikini again!

Minissha Lamba was spotted wearing a bikini and getting tanned in Goa. she last wore one in Kidnap. Mini is totally a beach person and loves surfing.

Meanwhile, she wants to don a bikini again for a film. We remember that the last time she flaunted her curves, the box office did not really give her the numbers.

But Mini says, "Ideally I would love to do a water themed action adventure film like Fool's Gold. I love water and am a certified diver, state level swimmer and have been learning kite surfing from professionals who come down from London. It makes sense when the theme is something that supports wearing a bikini."

Bips, Josh to visit Jaipur

Looks like the shoot of any Hollywood film in India is incomplete without the crews paying Jaipur a visit.

The latest to join the ever-growing list of Hollywood celebrities coming to the city is "Pearl Harbour" star Josh Hartnett. The actor, along with co-star Bipasha Basu, just finished shooting in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh for Roland Joffe's " Singularity". The next stop for the shoot is Gwalior. Actor Alice Englert, who had fallen sick during the shoot, wanted to take rest. She, along with actors Simone Kassel and James Macay, will reach Jaipur today, late in the evening. Josh will join them later, after a trip to Taj Mahal. He will visit some of the historical places in Jaipur. They will spend two days in the city and then leave," informs a source.

Abhay's girl, Preeti has her lip sealed

The girl we all know as Deol's girlfriend, Preeti Desai, speaks up about her relationship, inhibitions and more.

Tinsel townies call her Abhay Deol's girlfriend. Media reports suggest she is living-in with the actor. Even wikipedia under 'personal life', says she is 'in a romantic relationship with actor Abhay Deol'. But the Miss Britain turned bollywood actress, Preeti Desai still is far from admitting. In a brief tete-a-tete, the Shor In The City actress tells us about her boyfriend, inhibitions and more.

Some say Abhay Deol got you to Bollywood. How did it really happen?
My parents are Gujarati and I have grown up seeing a lot of Hindi films. Winning the Miss Great Britain title opened my doors to Bollywood.

But you are dating Abhay Deol...
That's a very personal question.

Admit it...
At this point of time, I shall neither deny nor accept that I am dating Abhay Deol.

So tell us about your role in Shor In the City ?
I play Sendhil Ramamurthy's love interest. This movie just fell in my lap. I had just one meeting with the directors, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D K, and they confirmed that I was on. I didn't even meet the producer Ekta Kapoor before I was finalised.

Are you meeting up filmmakers for more roles?
Not really. I want to wait for the feedback to Shor In The City. Also, I am going to improve my Hindi diction before I concentrate on a career in the industry. But yes, I of course, want to do a lot of Hindi films.

Did your parents object to your decision to work in Bollywood?
No. In fact, they were very supportive. My mum is expected to arrive in India a few days before Shor In The City hits the big screen.

Are you okay with kissing and lovemaking scenes?
Big deal! If the script of a film demands it, why not?

There are also some topless pictures of you on the Internet. When were they clicked?
Aisa kuch bhi nahi hai. Internet is one place jahan kuch bhi hota hai. You don't have to believe everything you see on the Internet..

Mumbai or England?
Difficult question. It's like asking someone to choose between his/her two kids. There I have my parents, sister and dogs (pauses) and here.... (pauses again)

And here you have Abhay Deol. In fact, you both are living-in...
(Laughs) No comments.

Shahid, Taurani team up again

Ramesh Taurani of Tips, who launched Shahid Kapoor in the 2003 romantic flick Ishq Vishk, will now work with the actor again after their last project Fida, in 2004. This endeavour will be directed by Kapoor's close friend Siddharth Anand.

If all goes as planned, this will be the first action film for the actor, whose fans have reported in a survey to be eager to see him dabble in this genre.

Our source told us, "After the failure of Anjaana Anjaani, Siddharth was supposed to direct Two States with Saif and Priyanka for Sajid Nadiadwala.

However, since he is no longer part of the project, he proceeded to meet Shahid and narrated a story idea to him.

Shahid immediately took to the concept and now Tips has joined on-board to produce the speculated action film, which will be a new experience for the actor.

Ramesh Taurani has wanted to work with Shahid for some time. He signed the actor  a year ago and only now has the project finally fallen into place."

When contacted, Taurani confirmed, "Yes, we are doing a film with Siddharth and Shahid, which will go on floors soon.

It is too early though to give any details as nothing has been finalised." Both, Kapoor and Anand remained unavailable for comment.

Freida Pinto shoots in Mumbai

Director Anurag Kashyap, in a corner of something called the 'control room', is playing Scrabble on his I-Pad.

It is the last day of shoot on the sets of Trishna, a film he is co-producing with Sunil Bohra and Guneet Monga, both welcoming souls and clearly ecstatic about collaborating with international superstars like director Michael Winterbottom and Freida Pinto, who has beaten Aishwarya Rai hollow in the 'see you at Cannes' game.

The control room is basically a rectangular box atop a set of stairs in Manoranjan Studio at Chakala, Andheri East.

The control room has a large glass window from which you can survey the action on the floor below: a dance troupe is doing a Bollywood dance number in all its garish glory. It is the sort of scene that the West likes to imagine about cinema in Bombay.

It isn't that far from the truth, come to think of it. This has been happening for a week but the producers have managed to keep everything under wraps.

In a corner near the video monitor, Freida Pinto, in a blue blouse and black pants, is observing the action. Your correspondents wait for her turn to come on stage and do the shimmy. But this is not the case.

During a tea break, when the dance troupe and spot boys and assistants get down to the serious business of eating, your correspondents too try to munch on samosas and sandwiches. But we realise that we are being shot too! This is not for the making of the film bit, which film crews do all the time. This is actually a part of the film.

We approach Freida twice in between this break, as an omnipresent camera unit hovers in all directions, like Paul the Octopus. She says, "No, you see even the break is part of the scene. So I can't talk in between breaks. I have to focus on either my work, or the interview. Not both." We understand.

Winterbottom though is easier to convince into talking. "Trishna is basically an adaptation of Thomas Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Riz Ahmed and Freida play the protagonists". Riz Ahmed is a British Muslim rapper. Anurag adds, "He will be performing at a pub called Red Ant later in the evening.

Freida and the rest of the crew will be really chilled out then. Why don't you guys try and get her then?" It's not a bad suggestion, but just then a PR person gives us an in.

We follow Freida into what she insists on calling "the trailer". Closer home, it is called the make-up van. On entering, one of us says, "Congratulations," though why exactly we are congratulating her is not known to any of the parties involved, including Freida. "Oh, thank you so much," says Freida, who looks quite regular.

But then again, this must be method acting Hollywood-style. Anurag tells us, "In the film Freida is a simple girl from Rajasthan who has come to Mumbai. Here she comes to see a shoot with a friend. At this shoot she sees Ganesh Acharya choreographing a song with Uma Qureshi and Vicky." Uma Qureshi is the girl Kashyap is launching in The Gangs of Wasseypur, his next feature.

Vicky is the son of ace action director Sham Kaushal, who worked on Slumdog Millionaire.

The air-conditioned make-up van has an odd décor that alternates between metal walls and cobalt blue cushioning. When the photographer tries to grab a picture she is firm, "Look, the trailer is nowhere in the film, so I don't know if I can allow myself to be photographed in the trailer." The photographer steps out.

Just as we are about to begin, a girl from the crew, opens the door to the trailer and says, "Michael wants you out right now."

"Oh my god, this is so embarrassing. Look can't you give me five minutes?" pleads Freida.

"Michael wants you out right now! He's calling for you!" From behind the crackle of static on her walkie-talkie, Michael Winterbottom begins to reveal the killer inside him. "Where is she! We're beginning to shoot out on the street!"

The interview is over.

On the way to the street outside the studio, the crew girl goes, "It's not about us, ya. With us we'll give you five minutes, ya, No problem. But you know how they function, no?

Akon wants to act in Bollywood movies

Bollywood is his ultimate goal and India like his second home, Senegalese-American rapper and singer Akon said here Friday.

The "Beautiful" singer, who landed here on his birthday Friday, will be performing in Gurgaon and Bangalore.

"Thank you everyone for having me here. I love India and I keep looking for ways to come here. You guys show more than loyalty towards my art and my career. I don't have words to express my feelings...I hope I get many more opportunities to come here and share my talent with you. I feel like a family here. This is like a second home to me," Akon told reporters here.

He is here for the The Venky's Akon Live In Concert and will perform in Gurgaon and Bangalore.

"I'm waiting to get into Bollywood movies. That's ultimately my goal. I want to do it successfully. I'm not quite sure what character (I would play), but I definitely want to do it," said the singer, who has worked with composer Aadesh Srivastava and also sang a song for Shah Rukh Khan's forthcoming film "Ra.One".

"Working with Shah Rukh was an amazing experience. He opened me up to Bollywood. He made me see a whole new light and the possibilities. I enjoyed it so much that I'm trying to sneak in now," he added.

The singer will celebrate his 38th birthday in Pune and perform before 1,200 people at a private concert in West Inn hotel in the town.

Akon is skipping a Mumbai concert this time but looks forward to performing here soon.

"India is very big, we can't cover a lot in two days. So next time I'm going to do a tour and cover more cities," said the singer, who was dressed in all black and had come to press conference straight from the airport.

The Venky's Akon Live In Concert is being brought to the country by Netsurf Entertainment and B.M. Group and IVNO Events and Productions, in association with Thrive Entertainment and S. Raj Entertainment. Venky's, the single largest poultry brand in Asia, is the title sponsor of the two concerts.

Akon says he loves Indian audiences and the culture of the country.

"Indians never have a hard time expressing themselves, so you get a great crowd here. The most I love about India is its culture. I love the fact that it is so parallel to African culture. They never forgot their history and passed it down to the generations that's why the culture is so strong here. It's amazing. Most cultures do not put emphasis on history. The generations do not forget their traditions and carry on the legacy."

Sonakshi beats Kat, Ash

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and newcomer Sonakshi Sinha have been named the most searched Indian celebrities on the web in a new survey by movie portal chakpak.com.

Salman beat action star Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn in the survey carried across the metros as well as tier-II and tier-III cities. Bollywood heartthrobs Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor wrapped up the top five.

She might be one-film old, but Sonakshi came ahead of the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif to be the most searched celebrity on the internet among the female brigade.

Sonakshi made her debut with blockbuster "Dabangg" alongside Salman Khan and will now be seen with Akshay in Shirish Kunder's "Joker" and in " Dabangg 2".

Priyanka came second and Sonam Kapoor followed at the third slot. Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif landed at the fourth and fifth spots in the survey.

Bollywood calling Ankita Mohapatra!

Ankita Mohapatra has bagged the Femina Miss Bollywood Diva title and will now star in a movie under Nadiadwala Grandsons Entertainment banner opposite Tiger Shroff. The stunning lady shares her excitement...

You have won the Femina Miss Bollywood diva title. How does it feel?
I am really excited. I had Bollywood on my mind somewhere and that dream will soon come true.

Have you faced the camera ever before?
No, I haven't and I don't even have any acting training. I am grateful to the jury for choosing me and will give my best shot to prove myself.

Did your family support you in this journey?
Yes, my parents have always supported me. They were present at the event and they were more nervous than me. I have made them proud and they are busy attending phone calls from all relatives, friends and acquaintances since yesterday.

Do you agree that Miss India has changed your life forever?
Every person has an individual quality and is extremely special. They just fail to realize it. For me, the realization came after I stepped into Miss India. I have got my goal and found my niche. I feel more polished as a person and the newly found celebrity status is a bonus.

Friends and foes...
I had a blast during the Miss India days. I got along well with all the contestants. They used to call me 'Cleopatra' as my surname is Mohapatra.

You missed the main Miss India crown by a whisker. How does it feel?
I made it to the Top 5 so I am a little disappointed. However, I have won the Bollywood Diva title and it's the time to move on. I truly believe in the statement, 'Whatever happens, happens for good.'

Something that you were eagerly awaiting to do post the Miss India pageant?
I want to gorge on loads of chocolates now!

The sue game!

Rakhi Sawant

He said, she said, they all said. Until, someone said: "I'll sue you." Perhaps the second most impactful set of three words after 'I love you', 'I'll sue you' is losing its edge somewhat.

Heck, everyone's saying it these days. For everything, from a tempest in a teacup to a gentle gust. Naturally, those at the receiving end are far from trembling leaves. Like Ishq Bector, who is probably humming his Hiphopper tune in the face of a similar threat: from none other than Rakhi Sawant. Yes, the shoot-from-the-lips lady has vowed, "I will sue Ishq Bector. He will have to pay for it". So will she, actually, what with the lawyer's fees and all. So while she works out the logistics, here's a look at others who pulled defamation suits out of their sleeves. Or maybe just threatened to.

Satish Sharma VS detractors
In a bid to prove his innocence when allegations flew thick and fast about how he had bribed MPs to vote for the UPA during 2008's confidence vote (through his aide Nachiketa Kapur), Congress leader Satish Sharma threatened to sue those behind this 'expose'. The defamation case was never filed. Smart move, we say.

Dheeraj Dixit VS Veena Malik
Veena Malik tossed her lustrous mane and pouted out freelance photographer Dheeraj Dixit's name as a co-matchfixer along with her ex-boyfriend, Mohammed Asif. Dheeraj hadn't gambled for this, and threatened to sue Veena. "I am going to sue Veena Malik for tarnishing my image. I am talking to my lawyers as to how much damages can be claimed," he thundered. Still calculating, are you Dheeraj?

Yuvraaj VS Onir
One fine day, newcomer Yuvraaj Parashar smarted and seethed over how director Onir had outraged his delicate modesty. The gobsmacked Onir then threatened to sue the aspiring actor, which he promptly did, but only for a token sum of `1. Onir, after all, simply had a point to prove. Yuvraaj, determined to play his part till the end, lobbed a counter-threat: that he would sue Onir instead. And then, just as suddenly, came the apology, from Yuvraaj of course. Don't ask us how the tables turned, Dunno y... na jaane kyun...

Mohammed Siddiqui VS Shoaib Malik
After the letters, photographs and nikaah namas failed to do it, Mohammed Siddiqui, father of Ayesha Siddiqui, who claimed to be Shoaib Malik's first wife, threatened to sue Shoaib if he didn't divorce his daughter before marrying Sania Mirza. Surprisingly, the defamation suit disappeared just as quickly as Shoaib's name did from the Pakistan cricket team list.

Bappi Lahiri VS Abhijeet
When singer Abhijeet took potshots at Bappida on a television show, calling him a "besharam sangeetkar", a tearful Bappi told the press, "Bardasht ki bhi ek hadh hoti hai!" And then he decided to make Abhijeet face the music. "I'm definitely suing Abhijeet for defamation. He has to prove in court that I'm besharam!" he announced. Tall order, that. And Bappida, who is as generous as his proportions show, is giving Abhijeet all the time he needs to prove the alleged "besharmi".

Shilpa Shetty VS Kavita Kundra
Raj Kundra's fuming ex-wife Kavita declared to the media that Shilpa didn't just loot UP and Bihar, but her home too: she had stolen her husband. Shilpa did not take too kindly to the home-wrecker tag and threatened to sue the now ex-Mrs Kundra if she continued to tarnish her image. Kavita had said, "Our marriage was in a rough patch but I was certain we could make it work for the sake of our new baby daughter. But then along came Shilpa. Suddenly Raj changed and now he wants a divorce." It seems the accusations weren't reprehensible enough to drag her to court for, after all.

Preity Zinta has tiff at airport

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab IPL team, was engaged in a tiff with Chandigarh airport officials Thursday when she was stopped for a security check, an official said.

Zinta, who had to board a Delhi flight, was stopped by an official of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who asked her to show her identity proof. Zinta declined, leading to a heated argument between the actor and the security officials deployed there.

H.S. Toor, airport director, said: "There is nothing wrong in it and the CISF official was only doing his duty. But Zinta was adamant and she wanted to proceed without showing any identity proof."

"However, things were sorted out soon. Later Zinta showed her identity proof and she was allowed to proceed," he added.

However, officials of KXIP denied any such incident.

KXIP had beaten Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League match at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali Wednesday.

Mallika Sherawat finds an admirer in Om Puri | Video News

Bebo's chooses Aamir over Saif

The actress has decided to shoot for Aamir's film rather than finishing Saif's Agent Vinod, which is running behind schedule

Kareena Kapoor is indeed a professional to the core. She refused to give dates for her beau Saif Ali Khan's home production, Agent Vinod, as she had already committed all her dates for Reema Kagti's film, opposite Amir Khan.

The actress is busy until the end of June, although she still has some important action sequences to shoot for Agent Vinod. Thus, forcing the Agent Vinod team to put the film's shooting on hold.

A source tells us, "Kareena has allotted her dates in April, May and June to Reema Kagti's film, with Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji.

Despite the fact that Agent Vinod has been delayed many times over for various reasons and now is in its last stage of production."

The source further added, "Most of the shooting is over. But there are still songs and sequences that require VFX. And yes, a schedule with Kareena is pending. But she's busy with another film. So, we'll just have to wait."

When one wonders why she didn't give priority to Agent Vinod over Kagti's film, Sriram quickly rises to his leading lady's defense, "She was committed to the other film from some time. But that's okay.

Saif and I will be busy with other scenes until she becomes free. I also have a couple of visual-effects scenes to put into place."

Well Bebo you don't seem to believe in the school of favouritism, poor Saif!

Sanjay says no to kissing Mallika

Just when you thought Mallika Sherawat could not surprise you anymore, she goes and outdoes her own standards of spontaneity. Recently, she managed to bewilder Sanjay Dutt with her proposition to kiss him in Inder Kumar's Double Dhamaal.

On the sets in Mumbai, before departing to Macau for their next shoot, Sherawat suggested a steamy scene between the two, leaving Sanjubaba red in the face.
A source tells us, "Sanjay was flabbergasted by Mallika's statement."

The source goes on to reveal what transpired after the rather embarrassing request, saying "Sanjay is a mere actor in Double Dhamaal. How could he alter the script? Besides, he didn't want to kiss Mallika."

When asked how Dutt let down Sherawat's offer, the source said, "After regaining his composure, Sanjay told her 'No way'."

We wonder how Sherawat is taking the lip-lock let down! Both, Sherawat and Dutt remained unavailable for comment.
