Rakhi Sawant lambasts Kangna Ranaut!

Rakhi Sawant is furious and fuming over Kangna Ranaut’s comment on the Kangna-Mika kiss ruckus. After Kangna apparently refused to engage in a lip-lock with singer Mika Singh for a film shoot, she went ahead and fired a salvo at the controversy queen.

“I am no Rakhi Sawant to do something like this” (kiss Mika), she is supposed to have said. This has enraged Rakhi, who has shot back, “How dare Kangna do her publicity gimmicks, firing from my shoulder. I have never kissed Mika. He had forcibly planted one on me and the world knows that. If Kangna is so publicity hungry, she should have kissed Mika for the song and become famous. Why resort to talking about Rakhi Sawant to gain mileage.”

Now, now! Knowing Rakhi, its best for Kangna to eat up her words or quickly apologize to her for ‘dragging’ her into the picture, or Rakhi might just road roller Kangna in national media. “With battle lines drawn, a new war seems to have just begun here,” chuckles Rakhi’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar.

Kangana's the new 'Jugni'!

Leave aside Sheila, Munni and Chammak Challo, Kangana's doing Jugni!

The actress who is not really known for her dancing ability, left everyone speechless as she finished a Punjabi number in 5 hours straight, which was to otherwise take 3 days for completion!

Our source who was present on the sets of Kangana's forthcoming film 'Tannu weds Mannu' revealed, "Recently famous singer Mika Singh was asked to shoot a video of his upcoming song 'Jugni' with Kangana Ranaut. The song is from the film Tannu Weds Mannu. Being a hard core Punjabi number everyone expected the song to get over in three days. To top it all, the shoot started late as well and the complete unit was sure that the stipulated 3 days will become 4 days at least.

The unit was in for a surprise, though. Once the music started, Mika and Kangana got into the groove. The shoot that was to take 3 days eventually got wrapped in 5 short hours! Choreographer Saroj Khan was shocked herself and so was Mika Singh.

Mika reacted, " Kangana matched freestyle Punjabi steps with me so well and reminded me of the typical girls from Chandigarh who can match upto anyone at dancing from across the globe. Kangana was a dynamo on sets and it was so much fun shooting Jugni with her".

Pregnant Vidya Balan asks for smoking ban

Six-month pregnant Vidya Balan won't allow unit members to smoke on the set. Read on...

Actress Vidya Balan does everything that it takes to get into character. The girl who plays a pregnant woman in 'Kahaani' - a film directed by Sujoy Ghosh, got so much into her character that she demanded that nobody smoke on the sets. While most of the unit members aren't too pleased with ths diktat, Sujoy Ghosh is giving Vidya Blan shaabashi for her professionalism.

"Vidya eats, sleeps, and breathes her character. She's so much into it, that sometimes it gets scary. But we are all co-operating, and I as a director, am lovit it," is what Sujoy is heard to have said.

Well, so much for Vidya's on-the-sets 'kahaani'.

Movie Review of Patiala House

Movie Review: Patiala House;
Star cast: Akshay Kumar, Anushka Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Prem Chopra; Director: Nikhil Advani;
Rating: ***1/2 – Give it a try.

Patiala House is a long awaited Akshay Kumar flick. It is directed by Nikhil Advani and promises to deliver an engaging family drama to the audience. Unlike the other recent releases of the Khiladi, this movie promises to delve deeper into the human emotions and the relationships.

The movie is interwoven with the popular game of cricket but it could have been any other game as well. It wouldn’t have disturbed the flow of the story. The film narrates the story of a second generation Indian in UK, namely Akshay as Gattu. Rishi Kapoor plays the role of a father to Akshay; and has strict traditional values, that are against the aspirations of Gattu.

Gattu forgets about his dreams and follows the life, directed by his father. But, life presents a second chance to Gattu after many years.

The film showcases different emotions and is sure to moisten the eyes of the audience. As the film unfolds and both Bapuji and Gattu adapts to the changing social conditions the movie reminds us about the evolving social changes going around us. Also, the story gives the audience an under lying message that life always gives a second chance and a person should never loose heart.

The film reaches it pinnacle when Bapuji let Gattu play cricket for England and an emotionally charged Gattu utilizes the second chance to be included in the team and wins the cricket match.

Anushka Sharma acts in the role of Simran, the love interest of Gattu in the movie. The trio of Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy has directed the music of the movie. The “Kyun Main Jaagoon” is a soul churning number and good to the ears. Lets hope, the melodrama provides Bollywood with good box-office results.

Shankar Mahadevan launches online music academy

New Delhi, Feb 10 – Composer-singer Shankar Mahadevan has launched an online music academy to bring Indians living in the US a step closer to their roots by imparting structured education in Indian classical music

It is called Shankar Mahadevan Academy.

‘I have always had it in my mind to do something in music education because after having learned so much, I had to give it back sometime. So now is the time!,’ Mahadevan told IANS.
The trained classical singer, popular for songs like ‘Breathless’, ‘Mitwa’, ‘Jhoom barabar jhoom’ and ‘Desi girl’, has tied up with Clood On, a provider of virtual learning software, to provide step-by-step training to students of all age groups living in the US.

There was another factor about Indian music, which urged Mahdevan to set up the online music academy, available on www.shankarmahadevanacademy.com.

‘I always noticed that whenever it came to Indian classical music or even just Indian music, the teaching methods are very unstructured. You cannot put it down in points anywhere. Whereas, if you go to Berklee College of Music or Juilliard School just to learn trumpet for example, everything is structured.

‘In India, usually when you learn music, the guruji comes home and teaches how to sing. There’s no structure, no syllabus, no certification, no exams – there’s no method. But I wanted my academy to be structured so that people could go from being zero to hero in Indian classical music,’ he said.

One can learn Hindustani as well as Carnatic music through it. Apart from the theory lessons that have been planned after detailed discussions with maestros in the field, Mahadevan has roped in teachers to take live classes online.

‘We are replicating two aspects of any form of learning – when you go to a college, you have a textbook and you have a teacher standing in front of you. So we have also created a textbook OM (Online Music) Book, which can be accessible all the time. And then classes with a teacher are scheduled at a specific time so that you can virtually interact with her,’ he said.

Each course lasts 12 weeks, and costs $240 as an introductory offer. Starting April, the course fee will be $300.

The first batch of classes will begin March 3, which also happens to be Mahadevan’s birthday.
Mahadevan also hopes to launch such an online academy in India, but due to the comparatively poor bandwidth, he wants to wait for sometime.

‘Launching the online academy in India is Plan B for me. But let’s see the response to the US academy first. We are hoping to get around 250 students for the first batch. In fact, I also want to do a brick and mortar academy, but that is Plan C for me,’ he said.

Meantime, the multiple National award-winning composer is riding high on the success of his latest songs ‘Laung da lashkara’ and ‘Rola pai gaya’ from ‘Patiala House’. He says there’s a lot more to look forward in the year with ‘Game’ and ‘Don 2 – The Chase Continues’.

Pregnant women can wear sky-high heels: Experts

Washington, Feb 10 – Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, now seven months pregnant, is never seen without sky-high stilettos.

Stylish indeed, but some wonder if Zoe is risking the safety of her body and baby for her high fashion style.

Now, experts have said that these model shoes are not dangerous for pregnant women if they don’t hurt, reports ABC News.

“Stilettos in general are not dangerous. We are fortunately long past the days when a pregnant woman had to wear a tent or a t-shirt with an arrow pointing to the belly,” said Dr Lauren Streicher, a staff obstetrician gynaecologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Doctors say the main reason that high heels have gotten a bad rep is because a woman’s body weight and shape change during pregnancy, and so does her center of gravity.

Because of this, she may be more prone to falls, which could have dire consequences. But otherwise, a lot of the risk is to her own comfort.

“It’s fine for a pregnant woman to wear stilettos, but she may find her balance is off, especially when she gets large,” said Streicher.

“If she were to fall, obviously she could break a leg, but there is no particular danger to that developing pregnancy,” she added.

Dr. Manuel Porto, professor and chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of California Irvine Medical Center, also said that the arched back posture that is used by most pregnant women to accommodate the change leads to low back pain

Wearing high-heeled shoes and boots can exacerbate those problems, especially as feet start to swell in the later months.

“Most obstetricians recommend that patients wear flat shoes or those with less than a two-inch heel, especially in the third trimester,” said Porto.

And Dr. Jacques Moritz, director of gynaecology at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York, said that the key is to listen to your body when making fashion decisions.

“If your feet hurt or you feel the centre of gravity shift has made it hard to walk in heels, then stop,” said Moritz.

“If not, good for you,” he said.

“Pregnancy is not a disease, and women should be able to dress how they want and look fabulous,” said Streicher.

“Of course, it’s a matter of taste what looks fabulous,” she added.

So, to all those pregnant women out there who can’t imagine surrendering style to a baby bump, there’s the green light. If you’re willing to deal with some discomfort in those heels, doctors say carry on with your fabulous and fashionable self. (ANI)

Kangana refuses to lip-lock Mika

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has shot a music video for promotional purpose for her upcoming film, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ starring Madhavan in the lead role where she was asked to lip-lock singer Mika who has lend his voice for the song but Kangana straightway refused saying that she is not Rakhi Sawant.

A source reveals, "Since the song has a crazy, wild and energetic vibe, the director Aanand L Rai decided to shoot it in wacky style too.

He came up with an idea for  Kangna to dance with Mika in the Baraat with the video culminating with him kissing her in his infamous Rakhi Sawant style."

Kangana shot the music video with full zeal but did not give to the director’s demand. She said in disgust, "I am not Rakhi Sawant to do some thing like this".

Kangna simply says, "I was not comfortable kissing for a music video."

Katrina to romance Salman in a Yash Raj film

In real, the couple might no longer remain a couple but in reel they are going to love each other. After appearing in a dance number together in Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’, Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan are back together in a Yash Raj’s new flick which is said to be a romantic thriller. The film will be directed by Kabir Khan.

Apart from Salman Khan, Kat will also be seen romancing Shahrukh Khan in another Yash Raj flick which will be a romantic movie. Confirming the news a source said, "The film with Shah Rukh will be a romantic one and will go on floor by the end of this year. The Sal-Kat starrer is an action-thriller-romance."

Well, it would be really interesting to see ex couple romancing on-screen.

Sheila and Munni fights it out on popularity chart

Munni Badnam Hui conceptualised by Lyricist and Music Director Lalit Pandit has created an up-roar in the Hindi Film industry. With a figure many women would envy and a great sense of rhythm Munni sways to the music in a manner that would leave the audience thumping their feet to the beat of the music. As for Malika Arora Khan this was the first time that she was seen on a home production. The thumka’s along with the nasal voice of the singers Mamata Shankar and Aishwarya gave the song masala to take Munni to the heights it has reached.

Sheila on the other hand a product of Tees Maar Khan is a dance that the Hindi Film audience is going to remember for a long time. This song is choreographed by Farah Khan and has the audience captivated by the rhythmic movement of Katrina Kaif.

Tantalizing moves catchy words and lovely figures of both Munni in Munni badnam Hui and Sheila in Sheila ki jawani leaves the audience enthralled. Music director Vishal and Shekhar along with the Lyricist Vishal Dadlani have combined English words and music to give Sheila the correct spice of life. The voices both of Sunidhi Chauhan and Vishal Dadlani, gives an out of the world feeling which helps the audience sway to the rhythm.

All choreographers pick both these songs for dance competitions as they too are aware of the great fan following of these two item numbers and expect a major vote from the audience too. The difference of the two films is that the character Munni is an item girl and not the heroine in the film while Shiela is the heroine in her film.

Sheila correctly mentions in the song that she is here to “drive you crazy”, and although she is very sexy she teases saying “Main tere haath na aani”. Munni too on the other hand teases saying “le Zandu balm hui darling tere liye”. This sends the audience in a split of laughter.

Both these songs which are called the item numbers of the films carry so much weight that even critics have to refrain from criticizing the film as the audience will go ahead  and disagree. For people who have seen these films are bound to agree that Malika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif have done a very good job. They have both carried the film to a great success and of-course the directors knew the correct ingredients for a film to do well. The correct spice is a song and a dance number which sweeps the audience to their feet and makes them happy as they come out of the pains of the real world.

Farah Khan the choreographer for both films is aware of the popular movements and is able to load the song with the correct moves. Malika is a dancer herself and must have found it comparatively easy to shoot for the sequence while Katrina who is basically an actor trained for the belly dance moves to give the song the correct effect. Both have put up such a spectacular show that it will be the talk of town for sometime and a learning point for many choreographers and directors.

Thumbs- up for both Sheila and Munni for making people buy tickets to watch a entire film for a dance which is well talked about.

Its official, Saif-Kareena to exchange rings

The whole world knows that Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are couple but the duo wants to give a stamp to their relationship by exchanging rings. They wanted to make their relationship official by exchanging rings. They have decided to engage formally but it doesn’t mean that marriage is also in the card. It will happen but not very soon. They both wanted to concentrate on their career.

‘They want to announce to the whole world that they are engaged. Now, whether they want to have an official engagement ceremony or want to have a party to celebrate their engagement is up to them. Both of them have spoken about it, and have arrived at the decision that they can announce their engagement to the whole world’, says the source.

Unlike other Bollywood couples, Saifeena never hide their relationship. They are always open about their status.

Now the question is how the duo will celebrate the day, whether they will opt for a grand party or it will be a hush-hush affair. A source informs, “The decision rests on both of them.

The whole world knows that they are very much together and getting engaged will just put a sort of an official stamp on it. Marriage will happen when it’s supposed to happen,” ends the source. Apparently the engagement talks are happening in the Kapoor househ hold for quite sometime now, so it just remains to be seen when the announcement comes”.
