Kangana Ranaut rides a Bullet bike in ‘Tanu weds Manu’

Mumbai, Jan 12 – True to her character who defies every perceived trait of a small town girl, National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut didn’t shy from riding a heavy Bullet bike in her forthcoming romantic comedy ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.

‘Since Kangana plays a small town wild girl, we wanted her to do all those things that a typical small town girl would not think of doing. So, riding a bike was something that would have helped strengthen Tanu’s character, so we bounced off the idea of Tanu riding a bike to Kangana and she was thrilled to do it,’ director Aanand L. Rai said in a statement.

A source said Kangana was nervous to shoot the scene as she was supposed to ride the bike with another actor riding pillion and rush full speed through crowded, narrow streets. This scene had the maximum re-takes.

‘Kangana was shocked to know that she has to ride a bike in the narrow lanes of Kanpur as she was alien to the concept of bike riding. The director first asked her to practice on a light bike, which she took weeks to master and then she was given the Bullet,’ said the source.

Actor R. Madhavan plays the male lead opposite Kangana in the film.

Natalie Portman’s pregnancy joy

Washington, Jan 12 – Pregnant Natalie Portman, who lost an astonishing 20 lbs for her role in ‘Black Swan’, is happy to gain it all back now that she’s eating for two.

“I told [director] Darren Aronofsky, I was like, ‘First you got me skinny, and now you’re getting my fat,’ because he introduced me to my fiance,” UsMagazine.com quoted her as telling Extra at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

“It’s the greatest gift he ever gave me.”

The 29-year-old actress also said that she has already made plans to take some time off to enjoy her pregnancy.

“I’m just doing these events, and then I’m going to try to take it easy,” she added. (ANI)

Freida replaces Aishwarya as the L’Oreal face

Slumdog Millionaire fame Freida Pinto has replaced Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the brand face of well-known cosmetic brand L’Oreal. According to media reports, the brand has permanently replaced their old brand ambassador, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with Freida Pinto on looking at her popularity.

Freida Pinto is the third beauty to endorse the product after Aishwarya and Sonam Kapoor. While L’Oreal spokesperson claim that Ash is very much part of the product.  “…Aishwarya Rai Bachchan continues to be our valued spokesperson, as she has since 2000.”

The statement reads further, “She remains an integral part of the L’Oreal Paris world wide Dream Team…She is one of the most iconic women of our times…”

   Well, things will be crystal clear when the new ad will be aired.

Aish refuses to dance with Shahrukh

At the Apsara Awards function, Shahrukh Khan wants to perform to a medley of songs with numerous leading ladies of Bollywood and he wants to conclude the dance number pairing with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and grooving to the tune ‘Kajra Re’ from the film, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ but to his surprise Ash declined to shake a leg with King Khan.

She justifies her refusal, “Her argument was that ‘Kajre Re’ was a family song and that she performed the number in ‘Bunty aur Babli’ only with her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan and husband Abhishek and that she will not dance to that song with anyone else”.

In the past too, Ash refused to share screen with Salman Khan due to some ugly spat. In 2003, she issued a press release saying, "For the sake of my well-being, sanity, my dignity and the self-respect of my family, I will not work with Salman Khan anymore. I maintained a dignified silence but he attacked the dignity of my family and me with irresponsible rumour mongering. I stood by him, enduring alcoholism, misbehaviour, and in turn I was at the receiving end of abuse, infidelity and indignity."

Well, Ash always stands by her decision.
