Celina had close shave in mumbai attack

Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley could have been one of the victims of the horrific Mumbai attacks had it not been for her lateness.

"There was panic as news spread that five-star hotels were being targeted. We really didn’t know what was going on and where. All the diners at Four Seasons were told to stay put and the area around the hotel was cordoned off."

“It’s incredible. I felt I shouldn’t be going all the way to south Mumbai. On the way, I changed the venue," she says. "Barely an hour after I reached Four Seasons, the first news about what was going on in the city began filtering in. And to think that I could have been there too! I don’t even want to think about it."

"But I was glued to the TV all night. I couldn’t sleep a wink. My dad was in a state of panic and kept on calling from Lebanon wondering what was happening to all of us! Throughout our ordeal, I was continuously in touch with my family and friends."

Amir brust out against militant attack in latest blog

In his latest blog, Aamir Khan has spoken out against the militant attack that has devastated the southern tip of the city and shaken Mumbaikers to the core. He also warns against politicians trying to use the event for their own purposes: "I dread to think of how various political parties are now going to try and use this tragedy to further their political careers.

He says "At least now they should learn to not divide people and instead become responsible leaders. An incident such as this really exposes how ill-equipped we are as a society as far as proper leaders go. We desperately need young, dynamic, honest, intelligent and upright leaders, who actually care for the country."

Although the characters are acting from entirely different motives, Aamir's own film Rang De Basanti presages how a group of young disaffected militants could be capable of taking control of a major urban centre - a radio station in this case - and create a hostage situation. The recent film A Wednesday also covers similar territory to the current event in Mumbai.

On a happier note, Aamir recently brought tears to the eyes of his co-star in Ghajini, British-actress Jiah Khan, by paying her a huge compliment with regard to her acting talent. "Aamir told my mother that if I was a part of Ghajini it was because of my own achievement and talent," says Jiah, "It was the best compliment I have received, that too from the best actor of the country - Aamir Khan. What more could I ask for?"

Saif and kareena to share apartment, relationship going public

Reality show are not all about reality : participants

Most reality shows, which have gained immense popularity in the recent past, are far from presenting reality to the viewers, the participants of some of these shows say.

"Whatever these channels are showing us, it is all false, manipulative and usually fixed weeks before the actual shooting. One cannot rely on their authenticity as it is all based on the irrational choices of a few decision-makers," British-born pop singer Taz aka Tarsame Singh Jarnail told IANS.

"I do not want to comment anything on the genuineness of the judges' decision. In future, I have decided that I will not take part in any of the reality show, either as a judge or as a participant," he said.

Talking about the "Big Boss 2", she said: "They showed only a one hour edited version from a recording of 24 hours. They did not show truth and presented our relations in such a manner that everyone outside the house and media persons started concocting wrong stories about our relations."

Supporting these views, Diana Hayden, who had recently participated in the "Big Boss 2" on Colors TV, said: "It is difficult to believe them as all these reality shows are motivated with making profits and they can go up to any limit to attain it."

However, one should also understand the fact that after all, the TV channels were a commercial proposition and not a charity, she added.

Taz, of pop band "Stereo Nation", had participated in a singing realty show "Dhoom Macha De" on NDTV Imagine early this year. He came to the city to participate in Chandigarh Carnival.

"Amid the rat race among various channels, these reality shows are an easy option for increasing the TRPs during prime time. The producer will only show that thing on screen that is controversial and will help in engaging the audiences," said the former Miss World.
