Box Office Report: Aamir Khan starrer 'Talaash' enters Rs 100 crore club

Aamir Khan - starrer suspense thriller 'Taalash' has made it to the Rs 100 crore club. The film has raked in Rs 131.78 crore worldwide

The film, directed by Reema Kagti, and co-produced by Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertaiment and Aamir Khan Productions, earned Rs 85.38 crore at the domestic box office within 13 days of its release, Nov 30.

The film has grossed Rs 46.40 crore overseas. 'Talaash' also features Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor.

It was made on a budget of Rs 40 crore, and released across 2,500 screens. Its satellite rights were sold for Rs 40 crore.

Box Office Report: 'Khiladi 786' has garnered Rs 50 crore in the first week, says creative producer

'Khiladi 786' has garnered Rs 50 crore in the first week itself and is still counting," says creative producer of the film Rakesh Upadhyay. “Though the weekend proved a high point, the real challenge for a film is to make the counter ring on Mondays and Tuesdays. And Khiladi 786 thanks to strong word of mouth has remained super steady throughout the week and the comedy has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in the first seven days,” he adds.

With no opposition, whatsoever from any other big banner film, for the next seven days and satellite rights, overseas rights, music rights and video rights in place, the makers feel confident that it will end up doing impressive business worldwide.

After Bodyguard, Bol Bachchan, Son of Sardaar and OMG! Oh My God, Khiladi 786 will mark Himesh Reshammiya’s fifth hit film in a row with chartbuster music. On the single screen front, the film has done record-breaking business with people whistling and dancing on every song.

Aamir Khan sticks to Christmas release for Dhoom:3

Christmas seems to be lucky for Aamir Khan. He’s been part of three back-to-back blockbusters that released during the Christmas weekend in the past — Taare Zameen Par (2007), Ghajini (2008) and 3 Idiots (2009). And although the actor doesn’t have a release this year, if all goes well next movie, Dhoom 3, will hit theatres during Christmas next year.

Meanwhile, Rajkumar Hirani’s P.K., which was earlier rumoured to have a year-end release, might not be completed on time. “Aamir has already completed a long shooting schedule for Dhoom:3 in Chicago. He was supposed to start shooting for P.K. in January, but in all likelihood, the first half of 2013 will be devoted to wrapping up Dhoom:3. As a result, P.K. might not be completed in time for a Christmas release,” says a trade insider.

Although the film hasn’t gone on the floors yet, P.K. has already been making news. Besides the casting, the film’s shooting dates have also been in the news. The project was supposed to take off in October, but it didn’t start on schedule. Later, the director had stated that he would start the shoot in December with leading lady Anushka Sharma. But now it’s believed that the film will hit the floors only by mid-January 2013.

Other than Anushka, the film also stars TV actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In the past, names such as Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor were also doing the rounds for Sushant’s part. “Everyone knows that Aamir wants to focus on one movie at a time. So, he isn’t in a big hurry to start P.K. The movie will be shot in and around Rajasthan and Delhi,” says the source.

On the other hand, we’ve heard that the Dhoom:3 producers Yash Raj Films (YRF) have huge plans for the film’s release. The multi-starrer project also features Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra.

Despite repeated attempts, Raju Hirani and YRF remained unavailable for a comment.

Hrithik who is working on hotly anticipated superhero film Krrish 3 has become one of the most sought after names in cinema, television and by big brand endorsements. He beat Pakistani pop star turned actor Ali Zafar who was the surprise runner up. Salman Khan finished third and last year's runner Shahid Kapoor came fourth. Eastern Eye showbiz editor Asjad Nazir, who puts together the very popular list and is chairman of the judging panel, said despite having the best physique, those voting for Hrithik were impressed by a lot of his other qualities.

"Although guys and girls from different age groups, cultures and countries pushed Hrithik to the top of the list they all pin-pointed different qualities that make him the sexiest man on the planet. Whilst some were impressed by his physique and good looks, others liked that he is humble, a devoted family man, father and hardworking individual.

This not only makes Hrithik the perfect role model, but the dream man of women around the world and someone men are aspiring to be like. The mass global appeal means it will only be a matter of time before he becomes an even bigger international star," said Asjad Nazir. A record-breaking year in terms of voting resulted in the list trending across Twitter for a week in India, as well as introducing the highest ever number of newcomers.

Bollywood newcomer Sidharth Malhotra was the highest new entry at fifth place and narrowly beat off popular TV star Kushal Tandon who was sixth, television stars that include Barun Sobti (10), Karan Tacker (11), Gurmeet Choudhary (22), Karan Singh Grover (24), Vivian D'Sena (27) and Ashish Kapoor (28).

Other big names included Shah Rukh Khan (7), Ranbir Kapoor (9), Jay Sean (14), Emraan Hashmi (16), actor Imran Khan (17) and boxer Amir Khan (29). The highest placed Pakistani was once again Ali Zafar (2), the highest placed British star was One Direction band member Zayn Malik (12) and the highest placed sportsman was once again Indian cricket star Virat Kohli (23). Other notable names in the list included John Abraham (8), Varun Dhawan (13), Akshay Kumar (15), Arjun Rampal (21).
