I love acting and am active in it: Diana Hayden

Diana Hayden who recently published a book on grooming, believes she is not meant for mainstream Bollywood films

Though she loves acting, dancing in front of the camera is something she’s not very fond of. The former Miss World told CS, “I tried my hand at Hindi films but it didn’t take me a lot of time to realise that this is not something I want to make a career of.

Having said that, I love acting and am active in it.” Diana is looking forward to the release of an offbeat supernatural thriller in which she is playing a lead role.

Is Shekhar Kapur flip-flopping on 'Ishqk in Paris' appearance?

Shekhar Kapur has done a special appearance in Kamal Haasan’s upcoming Hindi-Tamil spy thriller. There is buzz that he will also be seen in another project that is set in Paris.

The project has Salman Khan feature in a song sequence. What added to the speculation was his presence at the shoot of the film. It was assumed that he was doing yet another cameo. So has the filmmaker been bitten by the acting bug yet again. Remember he began as an actor?

But Kapur laughs and says, “Not at all. I am not acting in the film. I only dropped in on the sets for a day. I am not acting in it.” But barely an hour after we asked him about his acting outing, the filmmaker stated on his microblogging site, “Had d pleasure of playing Isabelle Adjani’s husband. Even for 1 day it was a pleasure as I have been her ardent fan forever.”

The filmmaker had begun his B-Town innings as an actor before he wielded the directorial baton. In the ’70s and ’80s he was seen in films like Jaan Hazir Hai and Toote Khilone and also featured in the serial Udaan. As they say once an actor, always an actor! And actors preferred to be tightlipped about their role only for a few minutes.

PICS: Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise's girly day at the zoo

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise cheered themselves up with a trip to Central Park Zoo yesterday.

Holmes and her daughter, Suri, were joined by Katie's mother and Suri's grandmother, Kathleen Holmes, as they took in the sights, sounds and smells of the New York City zoo.

The trio seemed in good spirits, despite the recent personal turmoil they've been going through, as they checked out the super-cute animals.

Flanked by police and Holmes' new team of bodyguards, Holmes and Suri put the divorce with Tom Cruise behind them for the day of quality family time.

The trip comes as reports suggest that Cruise's previous ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, has been helping Holmes mastermind the split.

Kidman rarely gets to see the two adopted children she and Cruise share, Isabella and Connor, a fate Holmes is desperate to prevent.

'They've spoken over the last few weeks,' an insider is quoted as telling Us Weekly magazine.

'Nicole has been supportive, saying she's been through it too and to hang in there.'

Kate Middleton and Prince William's secret Scottish breaks

Kate Middleton and Prince William have been sneaking off on secret romantic breaks to Anstruther in Scotland, according to reports.

Insiders sayWilliam and Kate, who have been busy on a whirlwind of official engagements in recent weeks, have fond memories of the Scottish town, after visiting it many times when they were first dating.

'They were always spending time together, going down to Anstruther (a town in Fife) to go banana boating or playing golf or going for a walk,' close friend Jules Knight recently told OK! of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's courtship at St Andrews university.

Now the besotted pair love nothing more than returning to the special place when they need a quiet escape from their busy lives in London.

It's thought William and Kate, who were on top form when they visited Edinburgh last week in their Scottish guises as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn, also enjoy staying at Balmoral, the Queen's official estate in Scotland,

Yesterday Kate Middleton and Prince William were reportedly been left fuming, after an Australian magazine published private pictures of their honeymoon.

Monthly title Woman's Day made the controversial decision to publish the 'world exclusive' photos of Kate and William's honeymoon, taken on the beach during their trip to the Seychelles last May.

But yesterday a St. James’ Palace spokesperson said: 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s honeymoon was obviously a private occasion, and we would ask people to respect their privacy.'

Last interview of legendary wrestler Dara Singh

Wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh passes away at 7.30 AM

84-year-old Singh was taken home from hospital by family members last night so that he could be with them in the last moments of his life.

"He passed away at 7.30 AM peacefully," Dr Ram Narain, COO, Kokilaben Hospital, told PTI.

Singh was brought to the hospital on July 7 after he had suffered a cardiac arrest and since then he was in the ICU.

A wrestling hero to some and a much loved cine artist to others, it was a long and eventful life that triumphed many odds. In his over five-decade long acting journey, he featured in over 140 films, including classics such as "Anand" and "Mera Naam Joker".

It was a many splendoured life.

There was Dara Singh the wrestler, Dara Singh, the hero of 'B' category action films such as "Tarzan Comes to Delhi" and "Samson" in the 1950s and 1960s, Dara Singh, the friendly 'pehelwan' in "Anand", and then Dara Singh who played Hanuman with great effect in the TV blockbusters "Ramayan" and "Mahabharat".

He was last seen in the Kareena Kapoor-Shahid Kapoor starrer "Jab We Met" as the stern, lovable 'Daarji' who ruled over a noisy, close-knit Sikh family. Quite like the real life man, who intimidated people with his 6' 2" frame but soon won them over with outgoing nature and warmth.

Born to Balwant Kaur and Surat Singh Randhawa Nov 19, 1928 in a village in Amritsar, Punjab, Dara Singh was encouraged to take up wrestling due to his imposing physique and trained in 'pehelwani', an Indian style of wrestling. He became a star wrestler - and not just on Indian turf.

Dara Singh took on international wrestlers like Lou Thesz and Stanislaus Zbyszko, and had over 500 professional fights to his credit - all undefeated.

He won the Professional Indian Wrestling Championship in 1953, and took away the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship trophy in 1959 by defeating Canadian champion George Godianko.

A recipient of titles like Rustam-E-Punjab (1966) and Rustam-E-Hind (1978), Dara Singh retired from active wrestling in 1983. In 1989, he published his autobiography "Meri Atmakatha" in Punjabi, and seven years later was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame.

And while he was wrestling, he was making a name in cinema - both Hindi and Punjabi.

His first release was the 1952 "Sangdil" and then came a succession of films like "King Kong", "Faulad", "Sher-e-Watan" that earned him the name of Bollywood's action king.

During his hey day as a hero, he teamed up with Mumtaz in 16 Hindi films, including "Jawan Mard", "Raaka", "Aandhi Aur Toofan", "Daku Mangal Singh", "Boxer" and "Veer Bhimsen".

Another successful phase in Dara Singh's acting career came when he bagged the role of Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's epochal TV series "Ramayan" in 1986. People liked him so much that B.R. Chopra roped him in to play the same role in "Mahabharat".

Dara Singh gave viewers a glimpse of his humorous side through shows like "Hadd Kar Di" and "Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka".
He became a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha from August 2003 to August 2009.

Dara Singh also took on the role of a writer, director and producer. In 1978, he launched Dara Studio, a self-contained mini-city with all facilities within the compound, in Punjab's Mohali district.

Dara Singh, who was widowed and got married for the second time, leaves behind his wife, six children - three sons and three daughters. And legions of fans of a man who defined machismo.
