Imran Khan in New Look

After portraying a Delhi lad in Delhi Belly, Imran Khan is now all set to play a Mumbai ka tapori in his upcoming film, directed by Milan Luthria.

Though the actor is currently travelling abroad, he doesn’t want the distance to come in the way of his preparations for the role. Following the footsteps of his maamujaan Aamir who played a similar role in Rangeela, Imran Khan has been sending his stylists to the innermost corners of Mumbai.

As a result, they have been making the rounds of the underbellies of the city including areas such as Bhendi Bazaar, Mohammad Ali Road, Nagpada, Sakinaka, Dongri, Dharavi, etc to research on how the inhabitant taporis really dress nowadays.

Our sources say that the actor wants to make sure his dressing is authentic and not make-believe, hence all the efforts. “Imran Khan has taken upon himself to seek perfection and not go with the clichés when it comes to his onscreen persona. Therefore he has sent his designers in the areas where he can find the authentic tapori look,” the source also adds.

Mohit Chauhan ties the knot with Prarthna

Well-known Bollywood playback singer Mohit Chauhan married journalist Prarthna Gehlot at a hotel here, family sources said. The marriage was a quiet and private affair.

A family member told IANS that the marriage was solemnised Friday evening at a hotel in Barog, near Kasauli hills in Solan district. The guest list included only Mohit's close friends and family members.

Born to Krishana Rana and B.K. Rana, the singer belongs to Nahan in Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh. Mohit's wife works with an English magazine and hails from Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

Born in 1964 in Nahan in Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh, Mohit did his postgraduate degree in geology from Dharamsala. He started his music career as the lead singer for the Dharamsala-based band – The Hijackers. They used do stage shows.

But he shot to fame with his Silk Route group which gave hit numbers Dooba dooba rehta hoon. The song Guncha Koi in the movie 2005 Main, Meri Patni... Aur Woh! marked his entry into filmdom and he has given hit numbers like Khoon chala and Rang de basanti from Rang De Basanti, Masakali from Delhi-6 and Tum se hi from Jab We Met.

He has mostly sung popular English tracks or self-composed Hindi songs. He has also popularised 'pahari' or hill folk music.

Spider-Man laughs all the way to the bank

The Amazing Spider-Man has proved to be a real superhero at the Indian boxoffice, raking in close to Rs34.5 crore in its three-day weekend since release on Friday.

This is the biggest ever opening for a Hollywood film in India, and the trade guesses the web-slinger's latest adventure is on its way to becoming the biggest Hollywood hit of all time in the country.

The film, which opened in 13 countries including India on Friday ahead of its July 3 release in the U.S., has seen a similar thumping response in every market, grossing $50.2 million worldwide.

Record-breaker: Andrew Garfield stars as Spider-Man

'We were expecting a solid opening for Spider-Man. The way the film has maintained a steady graph in ticket sales over the weekend, it won't be surprising if The Amazing Spider-Man ends up as the biggest Hollywood grosser of all time in India,' says Ashish Saksena, COO, Big Cinemas.

'Even Sunday night shows all across were full, and the audience - largely college-goers - have ensured that Monday morning was strong for the film, too,' Saksena adds.

Opening weekend statistics for the film, released with 1,000 prints across India, beats the initials of the Tom Cruise-starrer, Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol, which earned a little over Rs24 crore in its first three days when it released last December. James Cameron's 2009 blockbuster Avatar managed Rs22 crore in its first weekend while The Avengers, earning Rs18 crore in its first weekend in India in April, has so far been this year's biggest Hollywood hit in the domestic market.

The new Spidey flick has also seen a 74 per cent higher first-weekend collection than the last film of the franchise, Spider-Man 3.

'Spiderman: Fri - 8.50 cr, Sat - 9.75 cr, total 18.25 cr nett... Mind-boggling biz of #TheAvengers and #The Amazing Spiderman in India should act as an eyeopener. Don't underestimate the Hollywood biggies!' tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

Of the 1,000 prints released across 1,500 screens in India, 500 are in 3D format and demand for the 3D version is higher than that for the traditional 2D shows.

'The response for the IMAX and 3D versions has been 100 per cent. Those opting for the 2D versions over the weekend only did so because IMAX and 3D were sold out,' says Saksena.

While Sony refused to officially reveal box-office figures on Monday, trade sources say even the dubbed Hindi version of the film has done better than Maximum, the week's only Bollywood release.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge faced the situation at the wedding of their friends Alice St John Webster and Gerald Alvenel.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge faced a bit of on awkward situation at the weekend, as they attended the wedding of an old school friend of Kate’s.

We’ve all been there when we’ve bumped into an ex-partner at some social occasion or another.

But poor Kate and Wills had to contend with seeing no less than four of their former boyfriends and girlfriends as they attended the nuptials of Kate’s Marlborough College school friend Alice St John Webster and Gerald Alvenel.

Among the 300 well-connected friends was Willem Marx, Kate’s high school love, as well as one man we’re pretty sure William might have felt slightly strange around - Henry Ropner, whom the Duchess is believed to have dated after briefly splitting from Prince in 2007.

Popping up from William’s past was his former flame Rose Farquhar, whom the prince dated after leaving Eton College in 2000, as well as Olivia Hunt, one of the ladies he wooed before meeting and falling in love with Kate at St Andrews University.

For anyone else this would no doubt be a nightmare situation, but cool and calm as ever, Kate and Wills apparently shrugged off any uncomfortable feelings and plastered big smiles on their faces.

Looking stylish as ever, Kate wore a summery pink floral £490 silk dress by London-based brand Beulah, which she teamed up with the white-crea Jane Corbett hat she wore for the Order of the Garter service last month. The outfit was finished off with her trusty nude heels, which have become a staple in the Duchess’s wardrobe over the last 12 months.

Kate’s little sister Pippa, 28, was also at the wedding and wore a pink and black Alice Temperley dress which set her back £380. The party planner, who is rumoured to be moving to New York shortly, teamed the dress up with a large black hat and black heels.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' Breaks Record Overseas, Beats Sam Raimi's Versions

Collecting an estimated $50.2 million in 13 international markets, the Marc Webb-directed Spider movie also opens bigger than 'The Avengers' in some Asian countries.

Before opening in the United States, "The Amazing Spider-Man" already scores a massive gross overseas. It has been reported that the Marc Webb-directed superhero movie has successfully pocketed an estimated $50.2 million in 13 international markets on its first weekend. "This is a very healthy start," Phil Contrino, BoxOffice.com editor, gushes as quoted by E! News.

The Andrew Garfield-starring Spidey movie also breaks records in several countries. In India, the film becomes the highest-grossing opening ever for a Hollywood movie, while in Korea, it breaks the biggest debut record previously held by "The Avengers". In Japan, meanwhile, the flick dominates nearly all of the country's ticket sales on Saturday and Sunday.

The new version of Spidey movie also bests the international opening for Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" film franchise. In Korea and India, for example, Webb's movie beats the opening gross for Raimi's "Spider-Man 3", while in Vietnam, the film outgrosses the entire run of the Tobey Maguire-starring Spidey movies.

Regarding the successful result, David Mumpower of Box Office Prophets states, "For whatever reason, the [original] Spider-Man trilogy never performed quite as dominantly in the international marketplace." He continues, "For the Amazing Spider-Man to launch like this internationally is a tremendous relief for Sony."

After scoring a big success overseas, "The Amazing Spider-Man" will have to compete domestically when it opens in the United States this Tuesday, July 3.

London, July 2 (ANI): Kate Winslet, who often tops sexiest actress polls, thinks that she looks no better than the average woman.

The 36-year-old actress, who famously went topless as Rose DeWitt Bukater in 'Titanic', insists that she doesn't have "perfect boobs".

Even though she believes she has imperfections, Winslet has no qualms about signing up for sexy romantic scenes.

She has appeared partially naked in films such as 'Little Children', 'The Reader', 'Holy Smoke!' and the recent Emmy-winning US television drama 'Mildred Pierce'.

The down-to-earth actress is pleased if her relaxed approach to nudity makes other women and actresses feel comfortable about it too.

"I look like the people that walk down the street. I don't have perfect boobs, I don't have zero cellulite - of course I don't - and I'm curvy. If that is something that makes women feel empowered in any way, that's great," the Sun quoted her as saying.

"On a deeper, subconscious level, it's one of the reasons why I've allowed my stupid self to be so naked on screen.

"It's partly because I do believe that it's right for the character and it's right for the story but it's also knowing that not many people do that, actually - and not just that, but I'm a normal person," she added. (ANI)

Bol Bachchan in trouble on eve of release?

According to reports Ashtvinayak Films, the producers of Bol Bachchan, have been declared as defaulters by the Bombay High Court over the non-payment of dues to a well-known film financier Raju Shah. It is reported that after the cheques issued by the Corporate production house bounced, the financier had moved the High Court for relief. Shah has reportedly claimed dues of Rs.41 crores.

The Court has also directed the company to come clean about its business dealings and various rights related to its latest film Bol Bachchan, scheduled for release on 6th July 2012. The film is directed by Rohit Shetty and stars Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan (in double role), Asin, and Prachi Desai. Even Big B has performed a song and dance number in the film. BOL BACHCHAN has been acquired by Fox Star Studios for a whopping price of 72 crores according to trade buzz.

The sources suggest that the release of the film may not be affected at this juncture since on record the film has already been 'delivered' by the processing lab Reliance MediaWorks Ltd. It is a common film industry practice whereby an aggrieved creditor may approach the concerned film lab to block the delivery of the film until his dues are paid. Hectic negotiations are on to settle the matter between the financier and Ashtvinayak Films and work out a compromise formula.
