Eva Longoria flaunts figure in a braless gown

Eva Longoria was seen sporting a slinky and elegant floor-length gown to run errands and get her nails done at the salon.
Despite picking something from her wardrobe intended for a dressier affair, she created a casual approach by adding a long grey cardigan.

The Desperate Housewives actress chose to go braless in the summery number, initially tying the attached strings into a halter neck support knot.

However, later, Eva made a subtle alteration to her look, releasing the strings to create more revealing attire as the neckline sank an inch lower.

She also untied her hair from a ponytail, transforming her scruffy bed hair into a more sophisticated style as it hung loosely around her shoulders.

The 36-year-old completed the ensemble with a pair of flip-flops and black shades, which she placed on her head while tapping away on her mobile.

While she has always been trim, Longoria has revealed that she lost a lot of weight following the stress of her split from ex-husband Tony Parker.

"I remember after my divorce, I was so thin and everyone kept saying how great I looked," the Daily Mail quoted her as telling 'Health' magazine.

"It was probably the most unhealthy place I've ever been. So it was funny what people would see as "healthy"

"In my worst time, people were saying I've never looked better. [But now] I have a great diet and exercise routine," she added.

The actress said that she battled her demons by not allowing them to 'take over' before meeting Eduardo Cruz, 26, who she has been dating since February 2010.

The Darkest Hour - Movie Review

Movie Review: 'The Darkest Hour';
Star Cast: Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella;
Director: Chris Gorak
Rating: *1/2 - cinematically bleak.

Alien invasion movies, a specialised Hollywood domain, works on few fundamental premises -- characterisation of protagonists who the viewers relate to, fierceness of aliens that includes their looks and finally the ability of humans to fight back.

Despite having potential, 'The Darkest Hour' becomes one of the darkest hours of alien invasion movies because it goes wrong on all fundamentals of this sub-genre.

Five young Americans are caught unawares in Moscow after an alien invasion threatens to wipe out every thing that comes in their path. They must work together if they have to survive. But how do you survive an enemy you cannot even see?

One of the greatest reason why alien movies work is the way the writers and the director tease their viewers. This film gets this right. The aliens are not just seemingly invincible, but are also practically invisible.

The other things that work is when, like your protagonists, you are in the dark about what is happening. As the film progresses, you regain your senses to first survive and later to fight back. No such luck in this regard with this film.

Alien invasion films work when the aliens are revealed somewhere after the mid-point of the film and the survivors gather their wits to fight back, even if it is a seemingly losing battle. In this film, the aliens are revealed too late and even then you merely get a scant glimpse of them.

Secondly, there aren't enough chinks in their armour for humans to have hopes of survival. Hence, the last bit where humanity shows hopes of fighting back, shown here through a radio message, seem concocted and fantastic.

That the writing is so sloppy that not once in the film do you relate to any of the characters or their struggles, only add to the woe of the film. Even a no-brainer action film can work only when the characters and their motivations are believable.

The only good thing about the film is its special effects. The effects are good, but their charm fails because they aren't backed by a good story to seem believable. Setting the film in Moscow, instead of the usual New York or Los Angeles that have been destroyed countless times by Hollywood, seems to be the only 'original' idea in the film.

What you thus have here is a mishmash of different ideas picked up from more films than you care to remember which neither work collectively not on their own.

Chitrangada Singh turns item girl for 'Joker'

First she opted for a glamorous role in "Desi Boyz" and then she gave a nod to an item number. Actress Chitrangada Singh, otherwise known for serious roles, surprised all and sundry last year and says the response has been encouraging.

"I really hope 2012 turns out to be a year full of surprises for me, and surprises spring after one another. I am really happy with the kind of response I received for my work in 'Desi Boyz'. It was really encouraging and I am looking forward to more good work this year," Chitrangada told IANS.

The dusky beauty, who will be seen on an upcoming episode of UTV Stars' "Superstar Santa", made her Bollywood debut in 2003 with "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi", and was subsequently seen in films like "Sorry Bhai!", " Basra" and "Yeh Saali Zindagi".

"Desi Boyz", which also featured Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, was a radically different project for her. Nevertheless, she loved it, and the audience loved her in it too.

No wonder she feels her fans will appreciate her item song in Shirish Kunder's 3D project " Joker".

"The item song was hard, we rehearsed for it a lot and it has turned out to be fabulous. It is not into-the-face, the music is very catchy and the choreography by Farah (Khan) is very sensuous. It was great fun doing it," said the 35-year-old.

In 2012, she is looking forward to "I, Me Aur Main" with John, and Sudhir Mishra's film with Arjun Rampal.

"'I, Me Aur Main' is going to be a great film. John is fantastic in it. It is an emotional, yet comedy film about a man, his relationships, his busy life in a metro city...it's basically about men. The film was a lot of fun and has a lot of drama," she said of the movie, expected to release within the first quarter of the year.

"Sudhir's film is about sexual harassment, it is about a woman's ambition in the workplace and how that is curbed...so it's an interesting script, and I am extremely excited about it," she added.

In the meantime, she has had to turn down an offer to work with Kamal Haasan, who had reportedly contacted her for a role in his Hindi-Tamil bi-lingual "Vishwaroopam". But she had to refuse as the dates clashed with those she kept aside for Mishra's film.

"I had to refuse the offer. I would love to work with him (Kamal), he is a legend to work with," said the actress.

On the small screen, Chitrangada says she loved playing Santa for a bit, on the show "Superstar Santa", where celebrities play peacemakers between two common people.

"Santa is too big a role to play. But it's always nice when as celebrities, we can do something for common people," she said.

Katrina Kaif to romance Rajinikanth

Katrina Kaif has bagged the coveted role opposite southern legend Rajinikanth in Kochadaiyaan, being directed by none other than his daughter, Soundarya.

"It's true. We were very keen on Katrina. Two superstars together from the South and the North would create magic," a very important member of the film's production team revealed to Mumbai Mirror. "We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra, and has assured us of her dates in the next few months."

When contacted, Soundarya confirmed the developments, saying, "Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon."

Katrina, who is busy shooting two back-to-back Yash Raj films - Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan, and an untitled one with Shah Rukh Khan - will accommodate Rajinikanth's dates in between her tight schedule. All other portions of the film have been shot, and only the ones with Katrina remain. Her dates will be worked out soon, and the film will then be complete, the member said.

"In Kochadaiyaan, Rajinikanth plays a king, a devotee of Lord Shiva. His love story with Katrina, their songs, will be shot on an epic scale," disclosed a very reliable source. A R Rahman, who is known to take his time over scores, has recorded most of the music, including the love song to be filmed on Rajinikanth and Katrina. "Rahman is bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score," the source further revealed.

As for Katrina, it will be tough but she really wanted to work with Rajinikanth for the longest possible time, according to a friend.

The first look of Kochadaiyaan, which literally means, "the king with long hair", will be unveiled in the third week of January. Of course, Rajinikanth will sport long flowing tresses for the part... even if it means donning a wig...

All about Kochadaiyaan

» With Rana being postponed due to his illness, Rajini decided to take on his daughter's venture first

» On November 23, 2011, Soundarya posted on her Twitter account : "Look out for an official announcement very soon". And the very next day, she announced her father's next film was Kochadaiyaan. She said:"Grateful and excited to be directing father"

Aditya Swamy, EVP and Business Head, MTV India said, “Roadies has become much more than a TV show… it’s a phenomenon.  Such a wide cross section of people follow Roadies, across every possible screen that it just goes to show that there is a Roadie in every one of us. A lucky few will get to live out the dream…Will dreams come true or turn into nightmares…The battle begins for Everything or Nothing…”

Raghu Ram, the producer of ‘MTV Hero Roadies 9 – Everything or Nothing’ further added, “It’s amazing to see how youngsters travel from different parts of the country and queue up for the auditions. The levels of energy and fervour displayed are phenomenal and inspiring. This year we come back with a different dose of edgy, limitless Roadies madness.”

So gear up for all the buzz and excitement that lies ahead in the weeks to come, thrill that will keep you on your seats edge as its ‘Everything or Nothing’ this time in the 9th Season of MTV Hero Roadies.

Roadies plan to be nice on season 9

There’s not much you can ask these three personalities, who apparently play themselves for weeks at a stretch, on what can today safely be called one of the tube’s most-watched reality shows. Yet, after a thirty-five minute conversation with host Rannvijay Singh, Raghu Ram and his twin brother Rajeev, there are things you discover about the tough-to-crack trio and the upcoming ninth season of MTV Hero Roadies.

This time for instance, Rajeev insists, the makers have consciously added footage of the hosts being nice to the episodes.

“This nastiness was actually a topic of discussion, so we have put some content that will help people understand us better,” says Rajeev, adding, “It will be a perception changer.”

On another note, we also discovered that Raghu, director and creator of MTV Hero Roadies, hates working on the show.

“It’s terrible, it’s horrible. I can’t even begin to tell you…” he pauses, then he says, “But I love it after it’s done watching what’s been created. That’s the only feeling I work for. While doing it, it’s death. It’s excruciatingly painful. I don’t want to continue doing it.” Really?

“I don’t know, I am not thinking beyond Season 9. People are already talking about season 10. It’ll be the first reality show in the country to have so many seasons, so it is tempting.”

This season, the bikers will head to the US. Currently, the audition episodes are on air. First stop: Delhi. The contestants from that part of the country make the show what it is most of the times.

And everyone knows that, including the makers. Says Rannvijay, who too auditioned in the Capital nine years ago, “First and foremost, it’s their Hindi speaking ability, and secondly, they are okay with saying whatever’s in their head. They don’t think of the consequences.”

Roadies is one of the longest-running reality shows on Indian television. Yet, there is no news of the show being adapted internationally. Raghu feels there’s a problem, but nothing that can’t be fixed.

“The reason I am able to do that is because I am the creator and I have the credibility. For it to go to any country, you have to look for someone, who is a presenter, director, a great casting director, someone who can spontaneously conduct interesting interviews and have a twin brother! I don’t know if there are so many people like that.”

Waqar Zaka asked me to collaborate with him
Videos of Pakistani pop sensation and TV host Waqar Zaka are a rage on YouTube. His sharp interviewing skills and hosting techniques have, on many occasions, been compared to that of Raghu’s.

Interestingly, Raghu reveals, “I know Waqar Zaka. He is in touch with me. He wants me to collaborate with him on a show. I’m only afraid that I might not find the time.”

People invite Raghu and me to yell, abuse
Says Rajeev, “It’s important for Raghu and I to respect the people who we work with. Lot of colleges invite us and are ready to pay money. They ask us to come and shout at them, abuse them, do a Roadies style interview. I say, I can’t deal with you any more, because that is the sum total of what I am in your perception.”

High time format got adapted
Talking about adapting MTV Hero Roadies in different countries, Raghu says, “I don’t know why it hasn’t happened. I know many countries are interested. People get in touch with me, from Pakistan, Bangladesh and inner Asia. I don’t own the rights to the show; I can only put them forward to MTV.”

Natalie Portman shows off her slim legs in patterned dress

She gave birth to her first child just seven months ago.

But Natalie Portman is definitely one of those celebrities who can bounce back into shape pretty quickly.

The Oscar-winning actress showed off her enviably-slim legs in a cute floral dress yesterday as she ran errands in Hollywood.

Natalie Portman, who gave birth to son Aleph seven months ago, was spotted running errands in Hollywood, wearing a pretty floral dress

The 30-year-old made the most of the warm weather in a pair of strappy flats and dark sunglasses.

She carried what looked like two dvds, and had water to keep her hydrated in the sun.

The day before, Natalie was spotted at a farmer's market in the Los Angeles neighbourhood of Los Feliz with fiancé, French dancer Benjamin Millepied and their baby son Aleph.

She looked cute in a rust-coloured summer dress and sandals as she and her beau doted on their adorable baby while checking out the local produce.

Since giving birth to baby Aleph, Natalie has been pondering what to do when she returns to the acting industry.

And it was recently claimed that the 30-year-old actress is considering the sci-fi movie Jupiter Ascending as her first post-baby movie return.

Natalie is said to be in talks with writers Andy and Lana Wachowski to star in the film, which is set to start production in the autumn for a 2014 release.

It has also been reported that Natalie is planning to shoot a documentary about veganism, hoping to turn Jonathan Safran Foer's novel Eating Animals into a film.

In a recent interview with a French website, Foer said: 'She contacted me, she told me that she loved the book. I know her now.

'I will help her eventually but it will be her vision. She’s only at the very beginning.'

Next up for Lindsay Lohan: Playing Liz Taylor?

From the pokey to Playboy to … playing one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood?

Hey, Hollywood loves a good comeback, even if it involves Lindsay Lohan: It was reported Tuesday and confirmed by EW that Lohan, whose pictorial in Playboy allegedly spawned record sales, is in early talks to play the late Elizabeth Taylor for an original flick Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story for Lifetime. The movie, which would take a look back at Taylor’s long and very public relationship with Richard Burton, is from producer Larry Thompson (Amish Grace). It was announced earlier as part as Lifetime’s 2011-12 development slate.

Lohan gained acclaim for her performances in flicks like Freaky Friday and Mean Girls but her star power stalled when her personal life began to eclipse her once-promising career. She has worked sporadically — she co-starred in Machete in 2010 and Ugly Betty two years before that — but she’s more apt these days to generate headlines for her appearances in and outside a courtroom, or around a morgue.

It wouldn’t be a massive stretch for Lohan to play Taylor. Like the late actress — who died in Los Angeles in March at age 79 — Lohan grew up in spotlight. She began her career at age 3 as a model and did commercial work before launching an acting career on TV and the big screen.

But Lohan, 25, never won an Oscar (not that her Blimp Award from Nickelodeon for her work in Herbie’s Fully Loaded should be taken lightly). She’s no philanthropist, and she’s yet to amass multiple husbands, much less an enviable collection of magnificent baubles like a 16th Century pearl drop diamond or a 33.19 carat diamond.

Kelly Brook steps out in elegant lace and a faux fur cape

Her recent trip to Italy may have rubbed off on Kelly Brook's style.

The 32-year-old model looked more Milanese socialite than UK pin-up when she stepped out for a party in London last night.

Kelly looked ladylike in a black lace dress at the NetFlix UK launch soiree at Sketch in London.
Kelly Brook stepped out in London last night in an elegant lace dress and a faux fur cape
Kelly's newly lightened hair was style in long curls and the classic look was finished with a slick of red lipstick.

The model and actress greeted a friend warmly outside the party which was to celebrate the film-rental service arriving in UK living rooms.

Kelly was flying solo for the evening without boyfriend Thom Evans - who accompanied her on her recent trip to Capri for the Italian Film Festival.

In a recent interview she opened up about the rugby player's support for her during her tragic miscarriage last year.

'I’d do anything for him - I was a monster at some points, because your hormones are so all over the place,' she told Glamour magazine.

'It’s bad enough when women have that time of the month let alone going through that.'

Kelly said hello to a friend as she arrived at the party
Talking about how she was supported by the public through the difficult time, Kelly explained: 'I found that women approached me and wanted to talk about things that they’d been through themselves.

'I think they probably take comfort in knowing that even though you seem to have a very blessed life, bad things happen to you and it’s not your fault. It happen to a lot of people, and it’s not such a taboo.

'It’s just one of those things, and probably the only positive thing to come out of something like that is that you can talk to people about it.'

Kelly recently said she'd 'do anything' for boyfriend Thom Evans after he helped her through her tragic miscarriage last year

Kelly, who previously dated Billy Zane, Jason Statham and Danny Cipriani, recently said that she would rather end an unhappy relationship than stay for the sake of it.

She said: 'I've been through some big break-ups and although it's hard to do, I'm never one to just go along for the convenience of it, so I'll always follow my instincts.'

'If you're not completely happy in a relationship, I think you've just got to know that if you're feeling like things aren't going right, then just have the faith that maybe you both deserve better. Don't live in fear of losing someone," she added.
