Katy Perry teams up with Missy Elliott for "Last Friday Night" remix

Katy Perry's "Friday Night" party has no signs of stopping any time soon. She's just enlisted Missy Elliott for a remix to the hit track.

Billboard confirms that the new remix to "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" with Elliott is set to hit radio, the Internet, and digital retailers on Monday.

The single sets Missy up for a big-time comeback, as the song is poised to take the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. Missy is getting ready to release her first album since 2005's "The Cookbook."
It's Missy's first appearance on a major single since the remix to last year's "Everything to Me" with Monica, which hit #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

If Katy Perry moves up to #1 on the Hot 100, where LMFAO and their "Party Rock Anthem" has kept her from inching up to the top spot for weeks, she'll match the record broken for Michael Jackson as the only artist to achieve five #1 singles on the Hot 100 from a single album.

While Jackson become the only artist, male or female, to achieve the feat back in 1988 with his "Bad" album, Katy Perry's hits have come off her "Teenage Dream" album, which has yielded #1's from the title track--first single "California Gurls" with Snoop Dogg, "E.T." with Kanye West, and "Firework."

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara earns Rs.108 crore in 10 days

A still from the movie
Zoya Akhtar's " Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", a story of the adventurous road trip in Spain of three friends, is spinning magic at the box office - grossing Rs.108 crore in 10 days.

Released by Eros International, the film starring Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin and Katrina Kaif has earned Rs.86 crore at the domestic box office (net collection Rs.60 crore) and Rs.22 crore overseas.

The film released on over 1,800 screens.

"We are ecstatic with the audience as well as critics' reactions to 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'. The superb run of the film so far, especially across multiplexes, has superseded all expectations and we are expecting the film to continue its excellent performance in the coming week as well," Nandu Ahuja, senior vice president (Distribution), India, Eros International Media Ltd, said in a statement.

The film opened to rave reviews and raked in Rs.52.50 crores worldwide in the very first weekend.

New releases go unnoticed. Singham rules the box-office | Top 5 Hindi films of the week

Bubble Gum, Khap and Gandhi to Hitler went unnoticed
Bubble Gum, Khap and Gandhi to Hitler went unnoticed
Small new releases like 'Bubble Gum', 'Khap' and 'Gandhi to Hitler' didn't get proper release since theatres preferred screening 'Singham' and 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'.

There really seems to be some kind of revolution happening at the box-office. In an industry when all that matters for any film is the first weekend collections, films are going on to earn crores even in their second and third weekend. Ajay Devgn's
Singham seems to be on a roll and so does Hrithik-Farhan-Abhay's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara . With no big competition in their successive weeks, both the films are enjoying a steady run at the box office. Singham has collected Rs 14 crores in its second week and ZNMD is already a super-hit which continues to gain repeat audience in its third week.

The lack of competition in the form of big releases can be attributed to the start of the Ramzan period, which isn't considered a good period for movie business. So barring
Aarakshan , one would have to wait for a month for the next big Bollywood release in the form of Salman Khan's Eid attraction Bodyguard .

But at the same time, this period is also a blessing in disguise for small films, which have no competition from bigger releases, thereby making it the safest time for them to come out. So you would see a string of small releases lined up for release and multiple releases clashing with each other every Friday. Only the ones decent on content and lucky enough to get public attention manage to survive the battle, while others are lost in oblivion.

Same was the case this week with three smallies releasing simultaneously.
Bubble Gum , despite gaining decent reviews, couldn't get many screens across the city. So was the case with the issue-based Khap (Om Puri) and Gandhi To Hitler which had a very poor release and went unnoticed with almost nil audience.

The coming week sees more of such small releases. The National Award winning
I Am Kalam which has already been screened at several film festivals across the world will make its theatrical release this Friday. Considering it's a quality product, the film should gain decent audience. Pankaj Kapoor's popular TV sitcom Office Office has been upgraded to a film version in the form of Chala Musaddi Office Office with the same cast and characters from the TV serial. It needs to be seen whether the satirical series, which was a huge hit on the small screen, works on the big screen as well.

I am good at hiding emotions: Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra says her songs will cover heart break and more

Priyanka Chopra is cutting her first international pop album. Not many know that apart from acting, PC has always dreamt of being a singer. Her close friends and family know her secret singing talent and have been pushing her to record an album over the years. Finally she's managed to get some time off and sign on a music label to make her first pop album. Here are excerpts from a conversation with her....

Why did it take so long to make this album ?
I have been terribly busy with films, but over the last six months I have been travelling to the US and meeting producers for my music album. I have always enjoyed singing and it has come naturally to me. But when I did it I wanted to do it right, which is why the delay. It will be a pop album because that's the kind of music I enjoy the most.

Describe the process of recording these songs..
It's a bit similar to that of a film set. When you enter a recording studio there are experts who know the technical stuff and help you out with conceiving a song. I also have people who will be co-writing the songs with me. I am working with some tremendous producers who are the best in the business right now. It's a collaborative process working with some one who gets the melody in your head and brings it down to a vocal booth. I have a super efficient team to work with.

Would you write songs about relationships and heart break that reflect your life...
As an actor I am expert at hiding my emotions because that's what we do. I am used to create different kinds of emotions. My music will be a blend of my personal experiences as well as creating different emotions and experiences through the songs.

Since you and Lady Gaga are on the same label, is there a duet in works ?

It's too early to say, but yes there will be collaborations. Lady Gaga has been very kind and said some really nice things about me. She's absolutely adorable and we would give her a grand welcome when she comes to India!

Giselli Monteiro signs a new film

After Always Kabhi Kabhi, Giselli Monteiro has signed a new hindi film titled Pranam Walekum. The role will have her play the role of a nautanki wali. Sanjay Mishra who is directing the film says, "She fits the character to the T.

Although the girl in my film is desi but she has a mix of glamour and innocence, something that Giselli has in plenty. She is best suited to this character".

Why such a controversial title? Because it is an unusual story woven around an usual subject. Out of box it sometimes stings, but on the whole the story will regale viewers with ironies and funny anecdotes of everyday life, comments Sandiip. As the title suggests, Pranam-Walekum, with its tongue in cheek humor, takes a funny and satirical poke at religious tolerance and intolerance in India.

Pranam Walekum, produced under the banner of Promodome Films, is co-produced by Bhushan Sharma and Amit Chauhan while music is given by Sachin Gupta & Amit Mishra.

It's Kareena Kapoor's voiceover in 'Bodyguard'!

Kareena Kapoor
Unlike most films where male actors with a baritone lend their voice for some special scenes, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has given the voiceover for a crucial emotional scene in "Bodyguard".

If the grapevine is to be believed, her elder sister Karisma Kapoor and actress Katrina Kaif were also in the running to do the voiceover.

According to a source from the sets, Kareena, the leading lady of the Salman Khan-starrer had suggested that Karisma's voice should be used for the sequence. Someone else from the production team suggested that Katrina, who has already shot an item number for the film with Salman, should give the voiceover for the scene. However, it was eventually decided that Kareena would do the voiceover herself.

On the other hand, producer Atul Agnihotri says Kareena's voice was always the first choice for the scene.

"I don't know from where is the news doing the rounds. Kareena will always be my first choice to lend her voice for this crucial scene. After all 'Bodyguard' is her film and she is our leading lady in the movie," said Agnihotri.

"Bodyguard", a remake of an eponymous Malayalam film, is a romantic action project. Releasing Aug 31, it is directed by Siddique.
