What is common between Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan) from Dabangg and Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgan) from Singham; and what will be common among Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Abhay Deol and Sanjay Dutt?

Well, yes, doubtlessly all of them are male actors (this is the lamest commonality one could have thought of, and if you haven’t, then this is perhaps the lamest discussion we are having); and they are sporting moustaches for their movies.

It is said that “A man without a mustache is like a cup of tea without sugar”, and it looks like the Bollywood actors have taken this quote too seriously and moustache is the new success charm.

After Salman Khan’s moustached Chulbul Pandey created waves, this time it’s Ajay Devgan’s Bajirao Singham who is breaking box office records! However, this is not the first time that a moustached character has tasted success at the marquee. Shahrukh Khan’s Surinder Sahni in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has witnessed the same fate!

Though Aamir Khan’s Mangal Pandey and Saif Ali Khan’s Tashan were duds at the box office, it looks like they have decided to try their luck again by growing moustaches for their upcoming movies.

Abhay Deol, who is hardly seen experimenting with his looks (no six packs and no jazzy hairstyles), too has joined the moustache brigade with Dibakar Banarjee’s film Shanghai.

Movies demand a change, and Katrina Kaif is trying to pull all the stops to look different in her every film. Last we saw her as an adventure-seeking, fun-loving girl in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and now her song Dhunki for which she turned a hot rock chick, is hogging your TV screens.

But when we asked our readers whether they liked Katrina as a rockstar in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, we received 940 votes, and most of them voted against her. In the ApunKaChoice photo-poll we gave the readers two options, and 43% of them said that Katrina looks superhot like a rockstar, but the rest 57% felt that she is too soft to be a rock babe.

In the song Dhunki Katrina is shown singing, and performing on a stage in front of thousands of people. The actress is even smoking a bidi in the song which gives her character a very sexy and tough image. But, is her body language of a rock babe? We doubt it, like most of our readers. The actress struggles hard to drop her pretty and cute image. Alas! she fails.

Aishwarya Rai is Santoshi’s first and last choice

Unlike Madhur Bhandakar who promptly dropped Aishwarya Rai from Heroine after learning of her pregnancy, director Raj Kumar Santoshi is in no mood to scout for another actress.

Rather, Santoshi prefers to postpone his film Ladies And Gentlemen which was to have Aishwarya Rai in the female lead opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Ash’s pregnancy has thrown a spanner in the works as the actress can’t shoot as long as she has a bun in the oven.

Santoshi, who is quite fond of the Bachchans, understands Ash’s position but is not in favour of replacing her with another actress.

Rather, he is adamant on having Aishwarya in the film. So he would wait till Ash is fit to start working in films again.

However, a big question mark still looms on whether Aishwarya Rai will return to film shoots soon after the delivery because she will be needed to take care of the newborn baby. Moreover, since the Bachchans are known to put family over other things, it could be possible that Aishwarya Rai may not return to film for a long time.

Now that would certainly dishearten a lot of her fans, let alone filmmakers like Santoshi.

Mahi Gill’s two smooches

Mahi Gill is grabbing a lot of attention for the two kisses and lovemaking scenes she has shot with different male co-stars.

The kudi from Punjab has locked lips with Randeep Hooda in Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster and with Deepak Dobriyal in Not A Love Story. She says kissing Hooda was better than kissing Dobriyal and her assessment is not based on who looks hotter on screen and real life but simply on her comfort level with the co-star.

Mahi admits she was a bundle of nerves while filming the kissing scene with Dobriyal because it was shot on the very first day of the shoot of Not A Love Story.

On the other hand, her kiss with Randeep Hooda was filmed at the end of the shoot of Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster. Mahi says by then she and Randeep had become very comfortable with each other and therefore locking lips with him wasn’t awkward.

However, Mahi is quick to add that it would be wrong to make these kisses and lovemaking scenes the selling points of the films.

Gul Panag to participate in July 31 Slut Walk in Delhi

New Delhi: To protest against eve teasing and sexual harassment, Slut Walk will be held in the Free Church area of Delhi. In addition to hundreds of female students and working girls, actor Gul Panag and actor, social activist Nafisa Ali and some models will also participate in the walk.

The Slut Walk will be called 'besharmi morcha'. The coordinator of beharmi morcha said that the slut walk would be held after a performance by Delhi Drum Circle.

The Slut Walk will start at 11 am from Free Church and will cover Parliament, Patel Chowk and will come back to Free Church, where it will end.

At the end of the Slut Walk, 'Asmita', the theatre group of the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), will stage a play.
Over 500 students, working women and NGO workers are expected to participate in the Slut Walk.

The walk will start at 11 am and end at 1 pm. The Slut Walk is being held to aware people that sexual harassment of women and eve teasing needs to stop.

'Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif to sign another film together'

Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan have never been paired as lovers on screen when they were in a relationship. Looks like the ex lovers are making up for all the lost time now, after parting ways.


After coming together for YRF's Ek Tha Tiger, Salman and Katrina are all set to star in Dharma Productions' yet untitled project by Rensil D'Silva.


This film hopefully will now break the jinx that has prevented Kat and KJo from working together this far. Katrina was earlier supposed to star in Dharma's sequel to Dostana with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. The project seemed to take rather too long to take off. More recently, Katrina all set to work with KJo's Dharma in Ayaan Mukerji's second directorial venture couldn't allot dates for the same.


As a result of which the Kat-KJo partnership failed to take off once again. "Till the last moment, every effort was made to get Katrina in Ayaan's project. But it just didn't work out," revealed a source close to the project.


Now, after two failed attempts to work with the actress, Karan Johar seems to have made up his mind to cast Katrina in the forthcoming Rensil D'Silva project starring Salman Khan.


Katrina, however, is willing to wait to work with Karan. "It doesn't matter whether I am in Karan's film now or later, or never. He's a dear friend and I really enjoy his company," said the actress. The Rensil D'Silva film will however go on floors next year.


Another film in Sallu's 2012 calendar
Rajkumar Santoshi can now breathe easy since his much awaited Salman starrer is finally ready to go on floors early next year. Ramesh Taurani of Tips confirmed the same and said, "We are starting our film with Salman sometime in January or February 2012."


Salman, who post his Dabangg and Ready success has become one of Bollywood's most bankable and busy stars, has allotted dates for the Tips project from early next year. The film was announced in 2010 but had failed to take off. "We need just one heroine for this film. We haven't finalised her yet though," revealed Taurani.


According to a source close to the film, "Keeping in mind the triple success if Wanted, Dabangg and Ready, Santoshi's film with Salman will also be a typical mass entertainer."


Interestingly, both Santoshi and Taurani had major plans to work with Salman which failed to take off in the past. Santoshi has always wanted to make a sequel to his 1994 film Andaz Apna Apna but it never materialised. Ramesh Taurani too had attempted to work with the Khan brothers, Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail in a remake of Amar Akbar Anthony. That too failed to take off.

Vidya Balan secretly weds Siddharth Roy Kapoor

Twitter and Bollywood is buzzed with the rumor that Vidya Balan is secretly married to UTV top honcho Siddharth Roy Kapoor with whom she is rumored to be dating. The story of Vidya’s secret marriage doesn’t end here, it is also got to hear that she and Siddharth headed for honeymoon.

The hush hush ceremony is said to have taken place last week. On many occasions, Vidya has been spotted with Roy but the dare bare actress always denied. It was also reported that the couple once headed for Khandala and spend quality time with each other.

Kareena refuses to bath under waterfall and do Mandakini act

One still remembers veteran actress Mandakini dancing under waterfall and flaunting her assets in modesty in white saree. It was reported that Kareena Kapoor will do the Mandakini act in the sequel to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’ but the actress finally did not give her nod to the scene. Kareena is not comfortable enacting the scene and hence she requested the makers to drop the scene.

In the film, Akshay Kumar will play gangster Dawood Ibrahim and Kareena Kapoor will essay the role of his ladylove. It was said that Dawood fell for Mandakini after seeing her bathing in waterfall in ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’. As Bebo is playing the role of Mandakini, the makers wanted her to enact the same scene which the actress refused.

A source revealed, "Madakini is remembered for that scene in Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

Milan didn't ask Kareena to go so bold. However, the scene that he had envisaged was quite titillating and demanded a certain amount of exposure. Kareena was not comfortable with it."

Explaining the backdrop of the movie, Milan said, "See, there's no denying that OUATIM Part 2 is a story based on the dreaded underworld don Dawood and his friend-turned-foe Chhota Rajan.

And Kareena plays the role similar to that of Mandakini, who was allegedly very close to Dawood at a point in time. Luthria, simply wanted to establish the connect."

The film will go on floors in January.

'Yes, I'm pregnant', confirms Lara Dutta

Finally, the cat is out of the bag. For months long, it was speculated that Lara Dutta is pregnant but neither the actress nor her tennis hubby Mahesh Bhupathi has confirmed the news but in a recent interview, Lara has confirmed that the news of her pregnancy. An elated Lara said, "Yes, I am pregnant and really excited".

When asked why she at first denied the news of pregnancy. To this the long lass actress said that she has neither denied nor confirmed the news but she and Mahesh was waiting for the right time to spill this good news to the world.

She also makes clear that post pregnancy, she would not quit acting as she loves doing it. ‘Don 2’ is her new film and she is looking forward to it. Lara and Mahesh are very excited for their new arrival and eargerly looking forward to the happy times.

After Mandakini by Bebo, it’s Kimi Katkar by Vidya Balan

Whether Kareena Kapoor would be doing the Mandakini act is still uncertain. Meanwhile Vidya Balan has already done a Kimi Katkar. And the common factor is Milan Luthria.

While there is still speculation whether Kareena Kapoor will be doing the Mandakini act and going under the waterfall to recreate the famous scene from Raj Kapoor's Ram Teri Ganga Maili in Milan Luthria's sequel to Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai , something else from the same era (in fact the same year) has already been recreated. And interestingly the common factor is director Milan Luthria.

If you remember Mandakini, you should be certainly aware of another actress from the same time - Kimi Katkar. Like Mandakini, even Kimi Katkar's claim to fame is a similar scene from the film Tarzan that released in the same year as Ram Teri Ganga Maili - 1985. The only difference was that while Mandakini got wet in white under a waterfall, Kimi Katkar did the same but in a pond.

Coming back to Milan Luthria, the filmmaker is presently busy shooting his film Dirty Picture with Vidya Balan, where the actress' role is modeled on the lines of the sex-symbol of 80s, Silk Smitha. Amongst the several scenes that recreate the 80s era is one where Vidya Balan plays a damsel in distress in jungle who is rescued by one Tarzan-styled jungle-boy. Says a source, "A man with good physique and whose looks come quite close to Hemant Birje (the actor who played Tarzan ) is seen rescuing Vidya Balan in a jungle setting. The scene was recently shot in Ramoji Rao Studios in Hyderabad".

However, the makers have avoided the wet-in-white sequence, though otherwise the scene clearly revives memories of Tarzan days. Now we guess if director Milan Luthria can handle the Tarzan sequence so smartly, he can definitely handle the Ram Teri Ganga Maili sequence with as much elegance without offending Kareena Kapoor or compromising on the script.
