'Sheela ki Jawani' leads woman to commit suicide

A woman named 'Sheela' from Bijnore ( UP), allegedly committed suicide after being teased by neighbours and villagers on a Bollywood film song " Sheela ki Jawani", police said today.

Sheela (32) sprinkled kerosene oil on her and set herself afire to commit suicide yesterday night, they said.

The woman was upset with village boys, who used to tease her by singing "Sheela ki Jawani" song of film 'Tees Maar Khan'.

She had several times confronted the boys, argued and even quarrelled with them on the issue.

The police has taken her neighbour into the custody and is probing the matter.

Minnisha Lamba breaks fans' hearts

During the shoot of Bheja Fry 2 the news on the cruise spread that Minnisha Lamba would be doing a scene in the film where she would rescue Vinay Pathak from drowning in the pool.

The idea took all the passengers on the cruise into making different presumptions. One of which was that Minnisha would appear in a swimsuit while shooting for the scene.

A huge crowd gathered to see Minnisha Lamba flaunt her body in a bikini. But to everybody's disappointment she appeared in a dress to rescue Vinay Pathak. All were heart-broken but they still stuck around till the day break to witness their dream girl get soaked in the pool.

Ramdev doesn't need to starve: Salman

Baba Ramdev must be gearing up to go on his ambitious hunger strike from Saturday in Delhi. The yogi aspires to ward the country off corruption by starving but the idea has baffled Bollywood hunk Salman Khan.

The actor failed to understand the need for Ramdev to go on a hunger strike. "Why is he going on a hunger strike? Isn't he a yogi teaching yoga?" questioned Salman.

"I know his intention is good, but I think there are better ways for him to stop corruption," said the star further adding, "The yogi has numerous followers across the nation. If he wants to put an end to corrupt practises, he should spread the message through them and
motivate people to stop giving bribes."

Though clueless about how a hunger strike could change a nation, Salman wished that Ramdev accomplishes his mission.

Celebrity Cricket League ( CCL) excites Salman

After the ICC World Cup 2011 and IPL 2011, here comes the Celebrity Cricket League that promises to be bigger and better. With the biggest stars in the country taking on the field, sports has never been this glamourous. For the first time ever, four film fraternities — Tollywood, Kollywood, Sandalwood and Bollywood will play in a T-20 format in this star-studded Cricket League.

And it's all to promote a good cause. The initiative aims to raise awareness on piracy and ways to combat it. As per last year's statistics, the Indian entertainment industry lost over Rs 4,000 crore and 6,00,000 jobs due to piracy. Beginning June 4, in Bengaluru, the first edition of the CCL will unfold. The finals will be held in Hyderabad on June 12.

The league matches promise to be a starry affair all the way. The Telugu Warriors, led by Venkatesh has names like Vishnu, Tarun, Siddarth, Srikanth and Nitin, among others playing for it. Vishnu Manchu owns the team.

The Mumbai Heroes owned by Sohail Khan Entertainment, has Salman Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sonu Sood, Harman Baweja, Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Kunal Khemu and Mahesh Manjrekar among others. The team will be captained by Suniel Shetty.

Chennai Rhinos, led by Suriya, boasts of names like Madhavan, Abbas, Vishal and others. The team is owned by Prasad MD of GVR Infra and Raja Rao Chairman Prathyusha Group.

Karnataka Bulldozers, led by Sudeep, is owned by Ashok Kheny, industrialist-cum-producer, who is the owner of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE).

Genelia D'Souza, Sonakshi Sinha, Shriya Saran, Priyamani, Charmee, Taapsee, Samantha, Andrita and Ragini bring in the oomph factor to CCL.

"The idea was to combine two popular Indian religions, Bollywood and cricket, to produce great entertainment for the Indian audience. The film fraternities from South India and Bollywood will battle against each other for the cricket cup," says Sohail.

Word is out that Salman Khan will take his shirt off if his team wins. "I will be there to cheer for our boys. It will be as competitive as any other cricket tournament," he says.

All matches are covered on the Sahara network and tickets for the opening matches in Bengaluru have already been sold out. Sonu Nigam along with 1,200 folk dancers from Karnataka will be performing at the opening ceremony.

Pregnant January Jones joins pre-natal yoga classes to shape up

One of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, January Jones, is certainly not in the mood to spoil her shape while pregnant, as she was spotted arriving at her pre-natal yoga class in Los Angeles in an oversized T-shirt.

The 'X-Men' star looked exquisite in black tights and a pink top as she carried her own yoga mat into the class, reports the Daily Mail.

Pre-natal yoga is one of the most popular forms of exercise for pregnant A-listers, as it specialises in keeping limbs toned besides improving balance and circulation. It also helps pregnant women learn to breathe deeply and relax, which is potentially beneficial during labour and birth.

And January is undoubtedly enjoying the relaxation aspect of it, after her hectic schedule had been previously split between filming 'X-Men: First Class' and 'Mad Men'.

I love my curves: Vidya Balan

For someone notoriously referred to simply as a "soft porn actress", South sex siren Silk Smitha was an enigma. That said, there has been much hype surrounding Ekta Kapoor and Milan Luthria's The Dirty Picture that chronicles Silk's meteoric rise and subsequent fall. Vidya Balan, who will play the part, has been tight-lipped so far. Here, she talks to BT for the first time about the role...

What was your first reaction when you saw yourself in this getup?
It's for you to react, not me! I'm beginning to feel like Silk... a bit slippery. Silk was made to give Indian men sleepless nights!

But you liked what you saw?
I loved it because it was the character that we were all trying to create.

Have you seen any of Silk's films?
I've seen Sadma and some of her South songs earlier. She doesn't leave much to imagination. Silk is every woman's wild side and yet she's soft where it matters (smiles). She was spunky, yet she can shock you with a straight face.

Have you gained weight for this look or is it a lot of padding up as was reported?
You'll have to watch the film for that. All I know is that as a woman, I've always loved my curves and curves loved Silk. What is it that they say anyway, the more of me there is, the more there is to love. This film isn't about weight, it's about what sells. Need I say more? The Dirty Picture is a Moulin Rouge meets Himmatwala kind of a film.

But as an actor, you would be wary of putting on kilos as shedding it might not be easy...
My vanity lies in wanting to look like the person I'm playing, so I don't think beyond the film.

Was it a little tough getting into the skin of this character, considering it's very different from what you are in real life?
That makes it more interesting. It's no challenge to be playing yourself. And as an actor, I would like to do different kinds of roles. Bette Davis is my inspiration and like her, I want to play a new character each time. You'll see me playing a pregnant wife in search of her husband in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahani.

Over the past couple of years, you've done a wide range of films. Unlike your contemporaries, they're not masala flicks...
I feel lucky to be doing the kind of work I'm doing and by God's grace, it's working. I'm happy.

What's really keeping Katrina busy?

Katrina Kaif has been missing in action for a few weeks now, raising speculation that she might be nursing a broken heart (after her split with Ranbir Kapoor) or making moves to patch up with Salman Khan (who's doing his next film with her).

Truth be told, she is busy dubbing for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. And though it's only a cameo, she's busy making sure her work doesn't go unnoticed. In fact, the makers have insisted on her being prominently displayed on all the upcoming posters, billboards and publicity material.

KK feels it might send out a wrong impression to viewers, but the producers are hell-bent on selling it as a Kat film. She's a far safer bet than co-star Kalki Koechlin, in any case.

King Khan Forced Antenna Out Of Pritam

You may see Shah Rukh Khan dancing merrily to the tune of Antenna, a song from his home production Always Kabhi Kabhi but what many people do not know is the persuasion that went into making that song come out of Pritam's head.

SRK likes to work at a certain speed but when Pritam was not able to deliver the required item song even after several attempts, SRK took charge. He spent many hours in the studio with the music director, virtually extracting the tune out of Pritam.

The director Roshan Abbas said, "It is true that Pritam and I were not getting the song right. We tried several titles, like 'As we go set me free' and Shout zara sa. But nothing seemed to work. Then Shah Rukh got impatient. He told Pritam he will be in his studio to get the song out of him."

Apparently Pritam took Shah Rukh's threat to be a joke. Roshan said, "When Shah Rukh actually showed up in the studio, Pritam was completely flustered and bolstered into action. Shah Rukh's brief to Pritam was to create a song that would convey the youth rebellion of Queen's We will rock you."

Not only this, Shah Rukh refused to leave the studio until Pritam got it right. Roshan rationalised the superstar's impatience, "Shah Rukh is currently completely immersed in Ra.One.

He has decided to give us time for Always Kabhi Kabhi because this is his first home production that he is not starring in. The last thing his schedule can take right now is unnecessary delays."
