Katrina's dumb act!

Katrina Kaif pretended like she didn't know Dabangg won the National Award for Best Film.

At a recent media event when questioned about her reaction to the news she feigned ignorance and said, "Oh is it ? I didn't know!." But soon changed her tone and congratulated the team adding that Rajneeti too was a prime contendor for the spot! In fact she went on to add that the jury should start a new category for item songs and Sheila should definitely win it. After all these reports of Salman-Kat patching up surfacing, we wonder if it's just a façade for their next film or have they genuinely put their differences aside.

Salman Khan has got lot of energy and charm, says Aamir Khan

The two popular Khans of Bollywood, Aamir and Salman, never leave an opportunity to praise each other, and at times indulge in good humoured banter, which often attracts media attention.

Aamir, who has shared screen space with Salman Khan just once (in 'Andaz Apna Apna'), says the `Dabangg' star's energy is his USP.

When asked what does he think about Salman Khan - the brand, he said, "I think Salman has got a lot of energy, funk and charm; that's what his USP is."

The perfectionist said he liked Salman's performance in 'Andaz Apna Apna' and 'Dabangg'.

"I think my favourite film of Salman would be 'Andaz Apna Apna'. He has done a great film, he has done well in it. Then I enjoyed a lot watching him in 'Dabangg'.

The two Khans were last seen in the classic comic caper 'Andaz Apna Apna' (1994). Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film also starred Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor.

If reports in Bollywood are to be believed, the duo will be seen together for the sequel of the movie.

On which actress looks good with Salman (45), who has worked with a number of leading ladies of the film industry, the 46-year-old superstar said, "I haven't really thought of anyone particular actress. I guess every actress looks good with him."

Of late, both the superstars have become good friends. Salman Khan has praised Aamir's 'Peepli Live'. They also take pot-shots at each other over the issue of marriage.

I am not dating Asin, says Neil Nitin Mukesh

Neil Nitin Mukesh, who desperately wants to break the box office gremlin after his last film ‘Lafangey Parindey’ bombed badly, is now only focused on reviving his dipping career and is quite upset about his rumored liaison to the southern star Asin.
Back in Mumbai after a month long shooting schedule in Russia for his upcoming film ‘Players’, Neil seemed to be quite infuriated with the recent reports of him dating Asin that has been making news for sometime.
Talking about his link-up rumors, Neil stated, “To begin with I am not seeing Asin. I don't know how these rumours take life. Regular friendships become affairs and suddenly someone else other than me and my family are making career decisions for me."

Neil didn’t recommend Asin to filmmakers

Apart from these floating relationship rumors, Neil was annoyed when a recent rumor stated that he has been recommending Asin to a filmmaker.
It had been rumored that Neil recommended Asin’s name to filmmaker Hriday Shetty by asking him to cast the actress opposite him in his film.

However, it seems when the filmmaker went ahead and approached Asin, the actress refused the role and apparently told the movie maker that the character given to Neil won’t be suitable for him.
Neil denies these rumors of him having recommended Asin to any filmmaker and also cleared the air stating that no one takes decisions on his behalf other than himself.

Asin not affected with Kareena’s remark?

Kareena has recently given hints that Asin’s acting in the Tamil remake of ‘Bodyguard’ is not as impressive as Nayanthara’s in the original Malayalam film.
Kareena, who is busy shooting for the Hindi remake of ‘Bodyguard,’ was earlier told by the director Siddique to watch the original version and the Tamil remake to understand the character in both the movies.

However, after having watched both the films, Kareena commented that southern actress Nayanthara is more realistic when compared to Asin’s acting in the Tamil film.

Meanwhile when Asin came to know about Kareena’s recent comments about her the actress stated that she is comfortable with herself and doesn’t really care what anyone has to say about her.

Shakira sizzles at Indian wedding

Grand palazzos, gondolas and Colombian pop star Shakira in person! It couldn't get bigger than the grand Indian wedding of Britain-based industrialist Pramod Agarwal's daughter in Venice at a reported cost of 10 million euros. The May 12-14 affair to remember saw as many as 800 guests and 72 hours of celebration, the high point of which was a performance by Shakira. The three-day extravaganza saw elephants and horses traipsing down the charming Italian city of canals.

Agarwal, an Indian born metals commodities trader and investor, hosted the wedding of his daughter Vinita to Muqit Teja at the San Clemente Palace Hotel and Resort.

According to weddingsutra.com, a huge team of coordinators and specialists from Mumbai and Delhi were flown down to conceptualise the grand affair, which included logistics and hospitality teams. Decor tycoon Sumant Jayakrishnan was in charge of the ambiance. The festivities were captured by ace photographers Badal and Raja Jain, while well-known chefs from India took care of the Indian cuisine.

This is not the first time an international artist has performed at an Indian wedding. International popstar Akon also performed at the wedding reception of Mumbai socialites Kajal Fabiani and Gaurav Assomull in Monte Carlo in March this year.

Bollywood is of course, not far behind. From Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora to Neha Dhupia and Minissha Lamba, stars have often been seen performing at the weddings of business tycoons and politicians.

Congress leader Kanwar Singh Tanwar's son's marriage in Delhi, for instance, saw a slew of Bollywood stars taking to the stage. These included King Khan, Neha Dhupia, Zarine Khan and Minissha Lamba.

In 2004, ace businessman Laxmi Mittal's daughter's wedding saw Shah Rukh, Juhi Chawla, Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee dancing to tunes choreographed by Farah Khan. Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai also set the stage on fire with high-energy performances.

Mittal's brother Pramod, celebrated his birthday in a lavish bash in Central London. Sajid Khan hosted the event, Shah Rukh played James Bond, while Bipasha Basu, Celina Jaitley and Dia Mirza were also part of the celebrations.

The week-long mega-wedding of the two sons of Sahara business group chief Subrota Roy in 2004 was also a star-studded affair featuring stars such as Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya. The guests were entertained by a music group flown in from London and dances choreographed by a top Bollywood dance director.

Industrialist Pradeep Dhoot's son Saurabh's marriage to Radhika Singhal was also full of celebrities such as Bipasha, Malaika and King Khan. Katrina Kaif also gave a dance performance at the wedding.

Bollywood documentary takes Cannes by storm

Mumbai May 21-  Bollywood documentary "The Greatest Love Story Ever Told " by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Shekhar Kapoor has taken Cannes by storm. Even before its screening in the French town, the documentary has already been invited to four other international film festivals.

Mehra seems somewhat stupefied by the spell that the documentary has cast on the foreign critics and audiences at Cannes.

"The documentary's journey started on 14 May. After the red carpet walk, we had our first sold-out screening at 8 p.m. Ever since then the curious inquiries about our cinema have not stopped."

A beach screening of the documentary left the entire congregation gasping for breath. Earlier, an indoor screening at Cannes was attended by over 2,000 people.

"It's been an incredible experience," says Mehra from Cannes.

"When we made this film we had only one target in mind. To connect Bollywood cinema with the socio-cultural events of the country was not an easy task. We didn't want to put forward the usual Bollywood formula in a documentary."

Now after several screenings of "The Greatest Love Story Ever Told", Mehra feels the Western perception of Bollywood cinema is changing.

Says the director who was last in Cannes with his film Rang De Basanti ": "Everyone here in Cannes is saying in one voice, 'We didn't know Indian cinema ran so deep'.

"After one screening the press kept asking us questions on Indian cinema for hours. The documentary has introduced to Cannes facets of Hindi cinema that they didn't know existed... to 'Sri 420' and 'Pyaasa', to Shammi Kapoor and the anti-establishment angry young man played by Amitabh Bachchan .

"The perspective offered by the documentary is different from the one that Bollywood cinema has so far given to the West."

Mehra has so far had no respite from screenings of and conversations on the documentary.

"I hope to catch all the movies here at Cannes from Tuesday. On the 19th, my wife Bharathi, who is here with me, and I leave for a two-day holiday near Cannes. Then we're back in Mumbai."

Mallika turns down invite from US President Barack Obama!

Mallika turns down invite from US President Barack Obama!Strangely, Mallika Sherawat turns down White House invite to host sunset party for film in France

Mallika Sherawat has already been seen at two events with the US President Barack Obama. She missed out on making strike three with an exclusive poetry reading session at the Presidential residence in Washington.

Reason? She will host a party to promote her film at Cannes on the same date.

And so, despite her professed love for poetry (the actress admits to being familiar with the verse of 13th century poet Amir Khusro, 19th century poet Mirza Ghalib and America's TS Eliot), work won this round.

A source close to the Hisss actress insists that for Madame M, her "professional commitments come first".

Hosting a sunset cocktail party for her Hollywood release, Politics of Love on Nikki Beach in Cannes was something she had committed to, months before.

So it was out with Obama and in with the French Riviera for the actress. She flew to the famed French town early today morning.

She notes, "It's always a pleasure to meet the most powerful man in the world and it's very special that I was invited amongst the 100 invitees.

But since the Cannes commitment was a prior one and the White House invite only came recently, I had to regretfully decline. I sent my apologies. I am looking forward to more invitations from him in the future."

FACT: On rare occasions, Mallika writes poetry.

NOT HER FIRST
Mallika and the President first met during Obama's Los Angeles visit for a fund-raiser held at Sony Studios. The two then caught up at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

WHAT WE THINK
Dear Mallika, the film has the US President's name in one of the tentative titles. In our book, being seen at his events makes more sense than going through an annual exercise in futility in France. We're sure the promoters of the film will agree!

CANNES CURSE?
Every film that festival-regular Mallika has promoted there has been followed up by a poor box-office run. First came The Myth, then Hisss. Will Love, Barack/Politics of Love follow suit or break the jinx?

PAST SHENANIGANS
As reported ('Personal Paparazzi'; April 22), Mallika got someone from her entourage to stand in as a fake paparazzo. Desperate times, eh?

Priyanka Chopra the queen of Social networking

With over a million followers on Twitter, and over two million on Facebook, Bollywood's social-networking queen Priyanka Chopra says she feels loved and that these platforms not just bring her a step closer to her fans, but also helps her in getting direct feedback.

"Social-networking is a great way to stay in touch with what's happening in the world, to understand what people are thinking, discussing, doing etc. It's also a great way to get real feedback about my work," Priyanka told.

The 28-year-old former beauty queen is quite a hit on the web, and says it's a "great feeling".

"I feel very loved. I don't see it as some sort of feat that has been achieved... it's not about the numbers for me, it's about connecting with people from all over the globe, from all walks of life. I like to interact on these platforms and I'm just glad that I have such a large circle of people that I can connect with on a regular basis... with no one in between," she said.

Priyanka, who is busy shooting for Karan Johar's remake of "Agneepath", also feels a strong connect with some of those who regularly post to her.

"I now actually know the names and faces of so many people who have reached out to me on these platforms. Many of them are regularly in touch with their viewpoints, questions and sometimes just lovely words of encouragement. It's my way of seeing their faces and hearing their voices, which I would not have been able to do otherwise," she said.

But she updates her posts only when she really wants to.

"I access both very regularly, if not to connect but simply to read about what everyone is up to. But I tweet and post when I feel like sharing something...there are no rules that I follow. Also, sometimes I have nothing much to say and don't believe in spamming anyone's timelines with random posts or tweets just for the sake of posting," she said.

Lately, Priyanka has not been tweeting too often - and a lot of it is to do with her busy schedule.

After shooting the "Agneepath" remake, she will move immediately into shooting for Kunal Kohli's next venture, in which she will feature with Shahid Kapoor. She also has "Don 2", "Krrish 2" and "Barfee" in the pipeline. Quite a range, isn't it?

"I can't speak for others but when it comes to me and my choices, I have always liked to push the boundaries, try new things, and to challenge myself. There are no set rules and guidelines... it's each to their own.

"I think the audience is accepting and appreciative of anything you do as long as you do it well," said the national award winning actress, who successfully carried 12 different avatars in "What's Your Rashee??" and seven different looks in "Saat Khoon Maaf".

Thanks to her choc-a-block schedule, a relaxing summer vacation seems like a distant dream for Priyanka.

"All my films are being shot back to back. If I'm lucky, I may get a few days off on my birthday (July 18)! But I'm not complaining. When I think I really need a vacation, I will make the time for it. Right now, I'm enjoying every moment of the work I'm doing," she said.

I want love and money from my Swayamvar: Ratan Rajput

I want love and money from my Swayamvar: Ratan RajputShe has a predecessor in Rakhi Sawant. TV actress Ratan Rajput is unsure if her televised 'swayamvar' will meet its due end with a wedding, but she has a special, "P2 formula" of choosing her future groom.

"It's very important to live practically these days...and for that you need both 'pyaar' (love) and 'paisa' (money)...that's my P2 formula of finding my groom," said the vivacious Ratan, who has 16 boys to choose from, in her swayamvar "Ratan Ka Rishta" on Imagine TV.

"I don't want to run after work and money all my life, I want to live a balanced life. There's nothing wrong if I say money is important and that I do look forward to being with a man who can take care of my emotional and monetary needs," Ratan told.

The show will go on air May 30.

Dressed in a maroon and beige lehenga, the charm on Ratan's face matches that of any prospective bride. She has been staying at the Shiv Vilas resort on the Delhi-Jaipur highway shooting for the show. She is busy taking the "most crucial decision" of her life.

"When I came here, I felt like I am already done with my 'bidaai' from my parents' home. I felt the same nervousness that one perhaps feels before leaving the parents' house and going to a new house.

I felt this is my new house, where I have to take one of the most crucial decisions of my life. I definitely have butterflies in my stomach, but I also have elephants and rats running with them," said the actress who featured in "Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo".

So will we see "Ratan Ka Rishta" end with a grand marriage ceremony a la Rahul Mahajan's wedding in the previous season, or like Rakhi Sawant's broken engagement following the first season of the swayamvar?

The 20-year-old retorts: "I don't want to lie. Does anyone know what will happen tomorrow? So how can I say?"

"I want to get married, I am looking for boys, but I can't claim that I definitely will. I believe in living every moment of life; so I am living these moments happily. But, again, the very fact that I am talking about the swayamvar so confidently means I am serious. Hopefully I will find my match here," she said.

Ratan received a total of 54,863 wedding proposals after the announcement of her swayamvar. Out of those, 16 prospective grooms, mostly from small towns like Haridwar, Aligarh and Rishikesh but settled in metro cities or even abroad, have been selected for the show.

The irony is that none of the participants is from Ratan's home state, Bihar, where she was born to a retired joint commissioner (sales tax) and a homemaker.

"I don't have to get married to a state. My husband may be from anywhere - Bihar, Punjab or Maharashtra or abroad. A good family, a good man, is all I want. Videshi or desi, Bihar or Uttar Pradesh, these things don't matter. I respect everyone," she said, clearly giving a taste of her maturity level.

What about her acting career? Will Ratan be able to leave that if her groom demands?

"See, it's not going to be a decision by me alone after the wedding - it will depend on my life partner too. But I do expect that my husband will let me continue with my career because what I am today is because of my work.

"And this is not a condition, this is an adjustment that I will demand. If I am ready to make an adjustment by reducing my work hours from 24 hours to 12 hours, I think a person who loves me unconditionally would agree to do that much adjustment," she said, flashing a million-dollar smile.

I kissed a girl and was traumatised: Keerti Kulhari

I kissed a girl and was traumatised: Keerti KulhariKeerti Kulhari on her first gal-on-gal smooch in Bejoy Nambiar's 'Shaitan'

After playing a fairly gharelu Punjabi kudi in the madcap comedy Khichdi The Movie, Keerti Kulhari was compelled to get bold for her role in Bejoy Nambiar's Shaitan.

In the Anurag Kashyap production, she plays Tanya, a girl next-door who's part of a wild group and is compelled to lose her inhibitions.

Read on to find out how the lines between her reel and real life have blurred. Tell us about Tanya...
She is the most sober in the gang of shaitans.

How does she end up kissing another girl, Amy (played by Kalki)?
Tanya doesn't want to kiss Amy. They're playing truth and dare. Amy is a cool girl who likes to try different things. It's her turn and she 'dares' to kiss me.

How do you rate Kalki as a kisser?
It was hardly a kiss.

Is it the only time you have been kissed by a girl?
(Laughs) Yes. And it will be the last time ever.

Has any girl made a pass at you?
Yes. In Standard 10, there was a girl in my badminton team. I think she had the hots for me. Though she never said anything, the way she used to talk and give me attention, made her intentions very obvious.

She would feel very jealous if I talked to guys...

Were you told that you would have to kiss a girl?
No. Bejoy told me about everything else but the kiss. Well, he did bring it up once, but I thought he was kidding.

It wasn't until we were rolling, that Bejoy announced that the scene was on. Kalki kisses me in that scene.

Did you enjoy it?
I was traumatised. Thankfully, it was just one take. The reaction in the film was what I was actually going through at that time.

I haven't even kissed a guy onscreen. And I did my first kiss with a girl! That was an experience.

Did your co-stars tease you?
Yes, they were all teasing us after the shot. After the shot, Kalki even fooled around.

She started behaving like she had the hots for me. She tried to run her hands on my thighs. I told her to stop it and let me regain my senses. I was very amused.

How did your family react?
They were shocked. But they completely understand that it's part of the profession. They have been supportive.

What is your take homosexuality?
To each its own. I like to kiss a guy and want to be kissed by a guy, but I have nothing against people who have homosexual tendencies. I have gay friends.

Diamonds do not belong to me, claims Minissha

Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba, who was detained by customs authorities at Mumbai airport for carrying undeclared jewellery worth Rs.50 lakh while returning from her much-hyped visit to the Cannes Film Festival, says there will be no case against her.

"I have given my statement and the fact is that the jewels don't belong to me. They were given to me to wear at Cannes by Anmol Jewellers, so I don't think there is any case against me.

The jewelers will be called to verify that is it their jewels and that's it. It's an open and shut case," the 26-year-old actress told.

Minissha was in Cannes for the premier of Woody Allen's "Midnight In Paris". She returned Wednesday here by an Emirates flight via Dubai.

Why was she detained for 16 long hours?

"It was just a procedural thing. It wasn't anything terribly serious. But the whole process is very time consuming. That's why it takes time," said the actress of films like "Yahaan", "Kidnap" and "Bachna Ae Haseeno".

On Thursday, Minissha visited the customs commissioner's office in Mumbai to complete some paperwork, but the jewellery has been confiscated and is now in government custody.

This is not the only problem that Minissha had to face during this trip. The actress also lost her bag at Nice airport. However, she is still in high spirits.

"The Cannes experience was fantastic, only the last day was a bit stressful because I lost my bag and when I returned, I was detained. But otherwise it was great and I don't think anything can mar the experience I had at Cannes," said the actress.

Minissha in big trouble: Caught with jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh

Minissha in big trouble: Caught with jewellery worth Rs 50 lakhMinissha Lamba detained at airport for carrying jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh

Minissha Lamba was detained at the airport yesterday. The actress was kept back for bringing jewellery worth approximately Rs 50 lakh while returning from Cannes, France.

She arrived by an Emirates flight yesterday morning from Nice via Dubai.

The actress walked the red carpet at the Cannes film festival last week. But the same red carpet treatment was not meted out to her here at the international airport.

She has been charged with carrying R 50 lakh worth of jewellery above the permitted limit and was detained by custom officials.

She spent the afternoon being questioned about the bling. She was arrested for this. A statement will be recorded and a case will be registered against her, too.

At the time of going to press no one her lawyer, her spokesperson, her family or the media was allowed to meet the actress.

What the customs say....
Minissha Lamba was stopped while walking through the green channel at Mumbai airport yesterday. Sameer Wankhede, deputy commissioner, Customs, and his team intercepted the actress.

According to a senior customs officer, "We got a tip-off about her carrying jewellery above the permissible limit. We intercepted her at the green channel.

We have been interrogating the actress. In case of jewllery worth up to R 5 lakh we give bail on the grounds of being personal jewellery but as she was carrying jewels worth Rs 50 lakh, she had to be detained. She will be produced in court today."

Minissha's missing bag at Nice airport

On her way back to Mumbai, Minissha Lamba found one of her bags missing at Nice airport. The actress had been tweeting about her loss on the micro-blogging site...

"Disaster has struck. A baggage of mine has been stolen at Nice airport. I can't believe something like this has happened.

The reason they won't go over the CCTV footage is that there is nothing recorded on it. Sadly, something like this has happened during the festival.

If it was 'stolen' or 'misplaced'. For some reason, they are just refusing to confirm via their CCTV. Standing at the Emirates counter for one hour.

Even with two CCTV camera's right over the baggage, police or airline still won't confirm."

Has Zarine Khan found love? Trades kisses with a mystery man

Has Zarine Khan found love? Trades kisses with a mystery manZarine Khan and her object of affection traded kisses while at a nightclub

Zarine Khan may have found love. Salman Khan's blue-eyed girl was spotted with a mystery man at a Worli nightclub over the weekend.

An onlooker reveals, "Zarine walked in at around 1 am with a bunch of friends. There were a few guys and a girl in her gang. Her brother was also present.

She was dressed in a white top and a black mini skirt and had a tattoo of a heart inked on her left ankle. One guy in particular stood out as the object of attention."

The source adds, "They were very comfortable in each other's company and were seen cosying up. Zarine and this guy kept showering each other with loving pecks on the cheeks, holding hands and hugging each other.

Interestingly, when she hit the dance floor, the DJ played her hit track from Ready, Character Dheela Hai."

Our source didn't get the name of the guy but described his looks, "He is a fair guy of normal build and slightly shorter than Zarine in height. He was dressed in blue denims and white shirt with gray stripes and has a spiked hairstyle."

At first, Zarine denied being at the nightclub. She says, "I was in Goa." When we told her we had evidence, she immediately changed her statement, adding, "I got a bit confused. I went there last weekend for my birthday bash."

When asked about the mystery man, she says, "He is a very dear friend. The reason I was affectionate with him was because he arranged the surprise party for me." But she claimed that they are not dating, "I am very much single."

When Katrina got all wet and wild

When Katrina got all wet and wildKatrina Kaif hasn't had much time for adventure. But as they say, every cat at has nine lives, and so our Kat recently decided to acquire a taste for thrills. She talks to CS:

High on riding
Recently while shooting for a film in Spain, I had fun learning biking. It took me a week. Riding a bike, and that to a Bullet was like a huge challenge for me. But I was riding like a pro after a week's training. The high of riding a fast bike is something else altogether. I now plan to buy a bike for myself and take it for a spin in and around Mumbai.

Danger underwater
I underwent training for scuba diving under Jasmine Karachiwala at Otters club in Bandra for my new film. I have done some basic scuba diving courses in Mauritius but I am not a certified diver.

Frankly, I am scared of ocean as its dark and mysterious. But since I play the role of a diving instructor in the film, I needed some preparation. So, I did train for week in a swimming pool. Till then it was all fine.

But three months later I was at the end of this huge ship stationed right in the middle of the ocean and I was asked to jump into the water. I almost had a heart attack, but I gathered all the courage possible and jumped in.

I enjoyed the experience but it was only later did I learn that I had a huge fish over my head while I was inside the water. It was fun but I don't think I will try it again.

Meet the crybaby of Khatron Ke Khiladi 4, Mia Uyeda

Meet the crybaby of Khatron Ke Khiladi 4, Mia UyedaMia Uyeda has earned the unsavoury tag of being a 'cribber' by the Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 gang.

The girl is apparently always in complaint mode. She injured her hand during a stunt while shooting. The wound later got infected.

At Mia's insistence, the wound was shown to three different doctors.

Even after being assured that everything was fine, she was convinced that her infection would spread and her hand would have to be amputated. Crybaby!

Lack of exposure for newcomers: Nushrat Barucha

Two-film-old Nushrat Barucha started off with theater, shifted to TV and has an upcoming film, " Pyaar Ka Punchnama" in her kitty. The petite actress feels that newcomers are not being given the exposure and encouragement in the industry that is necessary.

"I was doing theater in college in Mumbai and when I passed out I auditioned for a film which didn't do well so I tried my hand at TV, which again didn't do well and I didn't like it. I then did advertisements. I did a YRF show for TV but the working environment did not suit me. Now things have just happened but I haven't really chartered a plan. In the industry right now, newcomers are not being encouraged as much as they should. The ratio of the films being shelved to the ones being shelved is insane. People like freshness and they relate to a character. My aim is to be a character and if they recognize me in the process that will be great," she says. The actress made her debut with Dibakar Banerjee's "Love Sex Aur Dhoka" and says he was the main motivation behind her playing the protagonist in the film. "With LSD my only motivation was Dibakar Banerjee, even if I were asked to do the film for free, I would have done it. When I watched his film "Oye Lucky Lucky Oye" I decided I want to work with this man. LSD had three stories and I was part of the third story about love, it was a bout honor killings. LSD was a traumatic period because I had to get into a difficult character, it was a serious topic," she mentions.

The Mumbai based actor loves driving on Delhi roads and feels both Mumbai and Delhi have their own set of flaws. ". I think Delhi is a very organized city. I love the infrastructure, the flyover and the roads. In Bombay, I hate driving. Both cities have their pros and cons," she says. the actor was skeptical about working with an entirely new cast in "Pyaar Ka Punchnama" and relates her experience, "mainstream.I was very skeptical before working with a new cast, a new director and producer. The only person I knew of was Kumar Mangat. When I came to audition for the film I asked him for the script and he said agar script sunni hai, toh abhi keh raha hun ki film mat karo, likha jo hai, banan mujhe hai. I liked his confidence in the film and that made me do it."

Luv Ranjan can't cast an established actor

Luv Ranjan
Luv Ranjan
First-time Director Luv Ranjan tells us about his first experience of directing a film, how he dealt with an entirely new cast and why he isn't working with bigger stars even with the provision of a bigger budget.

About newcomers in "Pyaar Ka Punchnama"
I was a little skeptical about finding the right people, not working with a new cast. I spend a lot of time on auditions, almost eight months because as a first time Director, one gets impatient because you want to start the film. I had to remind myself that if in a hurry I cast the wrong people, the film will go for a toss. I was not only looking for good actors, I was looking for stars. I wanted good-looking people who could act. There were difficulties on set because these guys are not as experienced as actors who have been there in the industry for a long time. I did various workshops with the actors. The chemistry was very important in the film so I made the actors stay in the two bedroom apartment, they would come at 9am and leave after shooting, that is what created chemistry. They never went to their private vanity vans after shots; they were always there for each other.

About Directing for the first-time
You get to know what directing is all about when you have twelve shots to take and the sun is setting. No one can teach you directing. It is an experience. I feel confident now after completing the film. If asked to make the same film again, I might change a few things. I am happy with the final product.

About acting in future
I have no interest in acting. People believe that whoever comes to Mumbai comes to become an actor and ends up becoming something else after failure but I always wanted to be a writer. I wrote the script and lyrics of "Pyaar Ka Punchnama". I might just do a cameo in a film for the fun of it but I have no interest in acting whatsoever.

About his Delhi days
I am from Gaziabad and studied in Hindu. The film is shot in Delhi because people pick up ideas from what they have experienced, Delhi is my experience and people will witness true Delhi and NCR in the film. Dilliwalo ki film hai. In Delhi I was not the kind of guy who would go to a bar to drink, I was the theka type who would drink in cars and then have races with friends. We would sit with thullas and drink, but that's what Delhi's young population is all about.

About future projects
My second film which will be coming out in October is also Delhi based. It will be a hardcore romantic film. It is tentatively titled "Saathi" and I am still shuffling between two titles. That film was supposed to be shot in winters in Delhi but we missed the winters. That film will have a bigger budget. Even with a bigger budget I never wanted experienced actors because it's a story about 20-year-old's. I can't cast an established 40-year-old star for such a role.

Sameera wants to be a businesswoman

Actress Sameera Reddy never thought or wanted to be an actress, though today she is happy being an actor.

So, what did she want to be in life? "I wanted to be a businesswoman. I am an actor by chance. Business excites me. The whole thing about building a brand, selling it, marketing it and making it famous is exciting. I still wish I could be a businesswoman. May be, sometime later in life after I stop acting, I will take up business seriously and live my dream," says Sameera.

Which business newspaper does she follow closely, we ask. "I pick up the Economic Times first thing in the morning before checking any other paper, even when my interviews or any articles related to me is published on any given day. I have to read the EconomiC Times first."

When asked why has she never played a businesswoman on screen so far, Sameera replies, "I would love to play a businesswoman. But unfortunately, no one has offered me such a role so far. You know what! I will do full justice to the role, so someone please offer me a role of businesswoman. Between, I am also waiting to play a cop on screen."

At airports, egos crash-land

No wonder most stars look grumpy when they get off an airplane. It must be the thought of having to go through the customs, of course.

Apparently, airports aren't the best of places for these frequent-fliers, who are left with no option but to leave their starry tantrums at home. The officials would have none of their 'Don't you know who I am', you see. Here's what the stars rant on their respective web pages, about travelling by air...

Abhishek Bachchan:
"Ok, just figured why they give such a heavy breakfast on the morning flights to Delhi...... They know you'll burn it all off when the Delhi airport makes you walk, what seems like, half the distance to your destination!!! Somebody get me a wheelchair! PLEASE."

Priyanka Chopra:
l "Its too Early to be catching a flight. On my way back to Mumbai from kolkata."
"..transit flight....too long.."

Rahul Bose:
"Unbelievable bungling by kingfisher – my seat's occupied by someone eating a full meal! Am told to please sit elsewhere till he finishes!!"
"Add another airport that allows you to walk to the plane – Dehradun."
"This is getting ridiculous. Seen the same airhostess three times this week. haven't met my sister & niece once in the same span."
"Airline bus has run out of gas. Passengers on tractors. Meals harvested fresh as we travel"
"Airport bus has been driving for 25 min. When I asked the airline attendant where we were going she sweetly replied 'chennai'."
"Our airplane is reversing and an engineer is thumping from the back to guide the pilot like the BEST buses"

Genelia D'souza:
"Air travel hs bcum so unfair, der is a 45min prior deadline4a passenger2check in n if evn a sec later d passenger doesnt get 2board d flite.."
"Hwevr 1ce all d passengers hav boarded, d flite is invariably delayed n d passenger hs no voice if d airline causes delays.. Y??"
"A passenger who hs a confirmed ticket n is way b4 d 45min deadline still doesn't hav d security of gettin on 2d flite, cos d airline is allowed 2overbook d flite as a policy, den wat does d term confirmation mean??"
Rohan Bopanna:
l"Just landed in Paris. Waiting for my bags and hopefully they have made it as well."

National Award fills me with gratitude: Salman

A leaner looking Salman Khan dressed in jeans and a black tee, the latter flattering those rippling biceps, greets us affably at his hotel suite.

Looking handsome sitting at the dinner table, he invites us to join in, even as he mulls over digging into the kebab platter that's laid out for him. After a hint of an indecisive moment, he says, "I'll have it later!" While we apologise for intruding (on his dinner) he says with a phew, "That's okay. I've just worked out so I don't want to have anything right away."

Fitness Freak
Salman had landed in the city two hours ago, in which time he had visited a college, addressed its students, watched their dance performance and then headed back to his suite! So just when and for how long did he work out, we ask rather perplexed. He says, "I don't know for how long, but I've done around 2000 pushups!" As our jaws drop on hearing this, he continues rather nonchalantly, "Actually, when on tour it's difficult to find a gym. But, I have my hands and feet to help me do my pushups and that's what I do. My film Bodyguard requires a leaner look, so I have to work out like this!" We regain our composure and carrry on with the interview.

Award Functions
Dabangg's to get the National Award in the popular category. Will Salman, who's chosen not to collect a single award for this film till date, be present for this one at least? He smiles and says, "Arbaaz will collect it, all dressed in a sherwani I guess!" But, why is he shying away from awards? He says, "I was just an actor in the film. It was Arbaaz's film all the way and I feel happy that people have loved Dabangg and respect that. I feel very happy for Arbaaz too as now we've got this National Award. But, even before this award, we've been awarded by the whole nation at the BO. It fills me with gratitude."

Paisa Vasool Films
All set with his next film Ready, directed by Anees Bazmee, ask Salman how different it is from his last few releases Wanted and Dabangg and he says, "It's a film that's high on comic action. It's like a naughty Hum Aapke Hai Kaun with the Prem of No Entry in it. Even Anees Bazmee has not done this kind of a film before." So, are promotions of the film tiring him out? He says, "I do promote films, but it's not like I overdo it. Even for Dabangg we had a two-city tour, which included Nagpur. I feel if a film's made well, just the promos work. It's the reason why we reworked on the Character Dheela and Dhinka Chika song. See, people spend lots of money when they come to watch a film and they wanna have a blast. I for one wouldn't want to see a gyaani or boring film."

Item Song
While on the subject of songs tell Salman that after Munni and Sheila, Character Dheela is the next chartbuster and it's been picturised on a male star after a long time and he quips mischievously, 'Uske liye character dheela chahiye!' So, is he the next item boy? "Oh no," he says, adding, "Doing an item song is way too difficult and only Helen and Malaika do justice to item numbers! We actors get dialogues, a special role etc to show our acting skills. But look at Helen aunty - people would go to theatres to just see her song! This requires amazing talent. Ditto for Malaika. She's married and has a child and doesn't want to do films. So, she takes off for 3-4 days, shoots a song and as far as I know, all her songs are hits. This is a tough job." So did he find it tough to do Character Dheela? "Zarine being in it helped a great deal," he says.

Bring back heroism
His spate of recent films have a lot of action in them. Did Salman choose these films by design? "Actually, yes," he says, adding, "In past 8-10 years I found that real heroism has gone missing in the movies. I want to bring it back - the heroism in romance, drama, comedy. These kind of films were run down and got dated." And what does he feel about not many younger B-town heroes doing action? He says, "They will in time, they are too young for it." But, he was doing action in his younger days, you tell him. He says, "We were brought up on those kind of films and it was natural choice that we did them too. And talking about age, I was young then, but I am younger now!" Seeing his dapper persona, you couldn't agree more.

Salman's been controversy's favourite child, but with every passing one, he seems to get better at handling them. He says, "Remember the last time when I was in Nagpur, we had discussed the Eid release of my film that was made into controversy? Well, this time it's an IPL release that's got the buzz going. Over time I've realized there'll be people who'll put you on their shoulders, keep you on a pedestal and also pull you down. If you're a nobody, who will care as to what you're doing. But, once you're a mass person, this is bound to happen." Does this mean that questions on his bachelor boy status have stopped riling him? He says with a smile, "I guess people who ask me this find some humour in it!"

Deepika, Saif together again!

Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan
Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan
Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, after Love Aaj Kal, are back to shooting a film together.

Earlier this year they teamed in Madhya Pradesh for Aarakshan and now she is back in London once again with Saif for their untitled film directed by Homi Adajania.

While Aarakshan is a political drama, Homi's film is an urbane love story. Dippy flew last night, and will take a small break of four days, before she starts the schedule in London. They would be shooting for 30 days in the British capital before taking a break for a week. So it's bye bye for a month from India for both!

$400 million at stake in Arnie-Maria divorce

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver
It is estimated that a whopping 400 million dollars at may be at stake in the divorce between Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Schwarzenegger was a self-made movie star and Shriver was a Kennedy, who had worked in broadcasting for many years.

According to the scant details available, the estranged couple have an estimated net worth of more than 200 million dollars with some estimates putting it closer to 400 million dollars, reports CBS News.

Regardless of what each of them brought into the marriage, they live in California, one of ten community property states.

According to the report, when a couple gets divorced in a community property state, the assets are apportioned based on very specific rules. Community property is defined as the money you earn or acquire during the marriage and is co-owned by both parties, regardless of who earned it or whose name is on the title.

The law requires that the community estate be divided equally if there is no written agreement to the contrary. But if the couple had entered into a pre-nuptial agreement prior to their marriage, the split of assets may have already been determined, which would certainly make the financial part of the process easier, the report added.

Movie Review: 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

The fourth instalment was touted as one of the 'most awaited' films of the year. Unfortunately it finds its place in one of the 'most boring' films of the year category.

Johnny Depp returns as Capt. Jack Sparrow who is sought after by the British, fearsome Blackbeard, his daughter and former lover of Sparrow, Angelica (Cruz) just so that he could direct them towards the fountain of youth before the Spanish find it. Reaching the destination is obviously not a cake walk as it has its challenging terms and conditions, twists & turns.

Running for 2 hours 17 minutes, the film isn't too long for discomfort. It's the film's incoherent plot, unwanted characters and slow paced screenplay which make you squirm in your seat.

A slow paced movie can work provided you have a compelling story and characters that develop as the film progresses. None of that happens here, making the film a complete drag as a result.

Director Rob Marshall himself seems confused at one point wondering as to what to do with his multiple characters and their irrelevant subplots. He thus decides to introduce generic sword fights after every scene. After a while you don't even bother to keep track of who is fighting whom? The director's motto seems to be 'If you can't charm the audiences, confuse them'.

Speaking of charm, even Depp as Sparrow looks a tad jaded barring few scenes where he decides to turn his charm and trademark swagger on. Its not completely his fault considering the script has very little for him in order to impress. His funny one-liners are way too few. There is no sexual tension between Sparrow and Angelica which one would ideally want to see. No sparks fly between the supposed former lovers who do attempt to indulge in some flirtatious banter every now then a lot like Zorro (Banderas) and his wife Elena (Zeta Jones) but all in vane.

The arrival and attack of the killer vampire-esque mermaids are probably the only track which holds your attention.

One-legged Captain Barbossa ( Geoffrey Rush) and his conversations with Sparrow are relieving and so is Dame Judi Dench's quick but interesting cameo in the carriage.

Ample time has been given to the romance between a religious Philip ( Sam Claflin) and one of the mermaids (Astrid Berges-Frisbey) but it only adds to your exhaustion and tests the patience.

The 3D does little to uplift the film from its mediocrity.

The tides are too boring this time for you to risk that plunge into your expensive cinema halls.

The 25-year-old singer, who is set to tie the knot with fiance Sam Cooper in Gloucestershire June 11, will travel to the world famous music event in Somerset to relax with her new husband, reports femalefirst.

"Lily's coming down for her honeymoon. We'll look after her, I'll set her up a special tent - she'll get well treated," Eavis said.

Lady Gaga treats devoted fans to pizzas

It has emerged that Lady Gaga had sent boxes of pizza to her fans who waited for her performance on U.S. comedy show, Saturday Night Live as a sign of appreciation.

The 'Bad Romance' hit maker was so moved by the large crowd waiting for a glimpse of the singer that she sent them a yummy surprise.

The singer later on posted a photo of her loyal followers on her Twitter account and she tweeted, "Someone took this pic (picture) of monsters (fans) outside Snl. My lil (little) babies! This makes me cry. I'm sending treats!" reports Contactmusic.

It's not the first time Gaga has sent pizza to fans. She had showed the same kindness to her loyal fans who waited in the rain last year. (ANI)

I'm a traditional girl: Lady Gaga

Despite her bizarre dressing style, pop star Lady Gaga considers herself to be a traditional girl when it comes to family.

"I'm really quite traditional, actually, contrary to what some people might think about me. I'm quite traditional in the family sense. My dad was just trying to breathe normally. He's still trying to breathe normally," contactmusic quoted her as saying.

The 25-year-old is known for her love of eccentric outfits, including a dress made of meat and arriving in an "egg" for the Grammy awards earlier this year.

Sonakshi impresses her JOKER team

A Still From Joker
In DABANGG Sonakshi Sinha had a very minor role with the film turning out to be an all-Salman show. Now in her next film JOKER, while Akshay Kumar is the lead protagonist and an alien/UFO element is being termed as a major attraction already, one wonder whether the young woman would have a bigger platform to enjoy this time around at the least.

"Yes definitely, in JOKER she is there right through the film with Akshay,", assures Shirish Kunder, the film's director, "She has a well etched out part and the best part is that both she as well I are very enthusiastic about making the best use of the platform made available as this is our second film each. I would personally like to work more with someone like her who is younger and is just starting off as it brings us both in the same space."

Continuing in the same vein Shirish, who has earlier worked with Preity Zinta in his debut directorial outing JAAN-E-MANN, adds, "She has that gift which I guess come from her genes. You have to tell Sonakshi just once about what you want and she does it just perfectly well. You don't have to explain things much to her. This reflects not just in her act but also the dialogue delivery as she brings in punctuations at just the right place in the right way."

Not to forget the fact that Sonakshi has already decided to go all out to change her DABANGG image by doing a 'Munni' kind of a song for JOKER.

"Now again she is coming up with similar 'thumkas' and 'jhatak-matak' act so that she can stand out from the rest of the crowd," he says, "She is going totally 'bindaas' with Akshay here and it shows on camera."

Also starring Shreyas Talpade and Minissha Lamba with music by GV Prakash, JOKER arrives under the banner of Farah Khan & Shirish Kunder's 'Three's Company' and Akshay Kumar's 'Hari Om Entertainment Co.' and is a UTV co-production.

Miranda Kerr was nervous returning to ramp

Victoria's Secret model Miranda Kerr has revealed she felt insecure about returning to the catwalk after giving birth to son Flynn.

"I felt a little nervous. I hadn't been in high heels for a while. It was probably a good five months since I'd worn heels, but it was kind of like riding a bicycle," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Kerr as saying.

The 28-year-old model's body has changed slightly ever since she gave birth, but she is not complaining.

"My hips are wider, and my boobs are obviously bigger. I feel like I've become more of a woman now, and I'm really embracing those curves," she said.

Peter Andre doesn't want to date celebrities

Singer Peter Andre doesn't want to date any more celebrities and is looking for an ordinary girl to romance.

Andre - who has two children, Junior, five, and Princess Tiaamii, three, with ex-wife Katie Price, and who recently split from model Elen Rivas - admits he has changed his view on dating people in the public eye. He no longer thinks it is important for a girlfriend to understand his work.

"I always thought they should understand your job, but given the option now I would like to stay away from dating anyone in the industry," femalfeirst.co.uk quoted the 38-year-old as saying.

He also feels confused about his love life since he ended his relationship with Rivas.

"I can't believe I'm so confused. I've only recently said that I wanted to have lots of fun and now I'm starting to think I am ready for all that," he said.

"Before Elen, I thought that I wanted to be in a relationship and then when that didn't work out, even though we're great friends, I thought I didn't want to be with anybody. However, now I've started thinking that maybe I should be in a relationship." he added.

X-Men First Class to release on June 10

A still from X-Men First Class
A still from X-Men First Class
While you still can't get over Wolverine from the last installment of the X-Men series, here's another mind-blowing saga from one of the most popular action franchises ever.

X-Men First Class, the latest of the X-Men films, is all set to hit theatres on June 10 and, going by the promos that have created a huge buzz across the globe, this one is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats!

Directed by Matthew Vaughn and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Becon, Rose Byrne and January Jones, among others, the film takes you back to where it all started. The story revolves around the friendship between Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X (McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr a.k.a. Magneto (Fassbender) before it evolved into an eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men. The 1960's setting for this film, coupled with outstanding special effects, brilliant action sequences and powerful characters, is sure to thrill you like never before.

Producer Bryan Singer explains that in spite of taking First Class into the 1960's and introducing an almost new group of mutants, the prequel will still connect with the X-Men series. "I think the chronology works; there are some liberties, but for the most part, it makes sense. The characters definitely make sense," says Bryan.

Thrilled to have played Charles Xavier's character with shades of grey and being able to explore the intriguing relationship Charles has with Magneto, James says, "Professor X and Magneto's relationship is like a powerful love story. This is the first time in their lives that they meet someone who is an equal of sorts, someone who understands them and can connect and push them as well." At the heart of it all, James adds, are Charles and Erik and the hold they have on each other.

Michael, who stars as the emotionally-scarred Erik Lehnsherr, who will become the militant mutant known as Magneto adds, "These two brilliant minds come together and their views aren't that different on some key things. As you watch them, you know that if their understanding, ability and intelligence could somehow come together, it would be really special. But the split is what makes them even more interesting and tragic."

Shah Rukh wants an item number!

These days many filmmakers are cashing on the current trend of bold and lewd lyrics like the Dum Maaro Dum, or Mutton, or Karma's a bitch. And it looks like Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan doesn't want to be behind the times.

In fact, he would want to be ahead of times otherwise why would he remind us about the item number Ishq Kameena he did with Aishwarya Rai in Shakti few years back. So would he want to do an item number today? "Haan, woh Sheela ki jawani thi aur yeh hai Shah Rukh ki adhed umar," he guffawed.

Well, but SRK values freedom of expression and respects all kinds of lyrics. "I have no issue with these lyrics as the young generation is exposed to international music as much as the Eastern ones. Also, it all depends upon the situation, kabhi kabhi kuch jam jaata hai (sometimes certain lyrics fits into the situation) and conveys the meaning. And then we have the Censor Board to take a call," said Shah Rukh, who remained as witty as ever. "But I am feeling bad for Karma" (referring to karma is a bitch song) he said in his usual inimitable style and dimpled smile.

Can Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Find Post 'Breaking Dawn' Success?

2011 People's Choice Awards - Backstage And Audience
Actors Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson attend the 2011 People's Choice Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on January 5, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.
Kristen Stewart (Bauer Griffin) Two things are clear about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart: They're love kissing each other, even if they won't announce they're dating publicly, and their Twilight careers have been an incredible success story. What isn't as clear is whether or not the two will be able to find success after Breaking Dawn closes the chapter on their vampire lives.

It's indisputable that R-Patz and Stewart are hugely popular celebrity figures. Just type either of their names into Google and you'll be berated with information, pictures and videos. Yet as Breaking Dawn closes out the Twilight saga, many are left wondering if the two love-birds can find commercial success in whatever new projects come their way.

Let's look at Pattinson first: He just had his first real taste of life outside Twilight, starring in the film Water for Elephants -- which was also based on a very popular book. How did it fair? The film so far has grossed just under $50 million, which is probably far less than Breaking Dawn will make in its opening weekend alone.

Stewart, meanwhile, just finished up production on her latest film, On the Road, which again is a movie based on a hugely successful book (by Jack Kerouc). But that won't come out for a while, so it's hard to say what draw she'll have. For now, we'll just have to wait and see.

What we can do though, is show you more pictures of the two love-birds getting frisky:

Rushdie's Midnight Children shot in Sri Lanka

Salman Rushdie
Salman Rushdie
It has emerged that the film adaptation of Salman Rushdie''s 1981 novel 'Midnight''s Children', which was being secretly filmed in Sri Lanka, has completed shooting.

India-born Canadian director Deepa Mehta said she chose the island instead of India or Pakistan, where the story is set, to avoid problems with religious fundamentalists.

While Mehta's film 'Earth' had provoked the Hindus in India, Rushdie was the target of a fatwa from Iran for his novel 'The Satanic Verses'.

In 1997, the government of Sri Lanka had blocked the BBC to film the adaptation of the novel in Sri Lanka after Iran complained to Sri Lanka, but President Mahinda Rajapaksa had reversed the ban. Therefore, the production, cast and crewmembers were made to sign confidentiality agreement to avoid protests.

"We really wanted to do this film, and the price was silence," the BBC quoted Mehta as telling Canada''s Globe and Mail newspaper. "He [Rushdie] has got the Muslims. And I''ve got the Hindus," she added.

The film will be released next year as 'Winds of Change'.
