Pic - Imran Khan in PETA ad for dogs

Imran Khan poses with a homeless dog named Tony for the latest PETA campaign.

The ad, shot by photographer Avinash Gowariker, is to encourage people to adopt homeless dogs.

“The fact is, there are dogs and cats and all kinds of animals roaming around the streets. Very often, people buy dogs, buy cats -- they see them as toys or as fashion accessories. They get bored of them and they throw them out of the house. That’s a very horrible thing to do,” Imran says.

The actor, to be seen next in Delhi Belly, added that whenever he sees a sick or injured animal, he tries to help.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama - Movie Review

Movie:  Pyaar Ka Punchnama.
Writer-director: Luv Ranjan’s film Pyaar Ka Punchnama strips the LOVE of its Bollywoodish aura and bares its ugly warts with a tongue-in-cheek chuckle. Love in this film is a far cry from Karan Johar or Yashraj brand of pyar of sugary mushiness to leave your senses cloyed. Here, love is a bitter pill, an irresistible one at that, which you can’t do with or without.

At the centre of the tale are three guys Liquid (Divyendu Sharma), Rajat (Kartikeya Tiwari) and Chaudhary (Rayo Bhakirta), all unfortunately single but hankering after some semblance of female company in their dry, barren and messy bachelor life. The drought doesn’t last long.

Rajat manages to woo Neha (Nushrat Bharucha) and even convince her for a live-in relationship. Likewise, Chaudhary hooks up with a rather snobbish Ria (Sonalli Sehgal). Liquid has a crush on his colleague Charu (Ishita Sharma) and she also claims that he is her only friend.

But nothing turns out as in a conventional love story. Neha becomes tetchy, cribbing, carping and Rajat is left grovelling for her attention. Likewise, Ria can’t get over her ex boyfriend and also demands her ‘space’ from Chaudhary. Worst of all, Charu uses and dispenses with Liquid like he was a tissue paper.

The film gets a tad melodramatic in its dying moments but it’s the fun part in the first half that keeps you thoroughly entertained. A lion’s share of the credit must go to newcomers Divyendu Sharma and Kartikeya Tiwari, both of who add a lot of fun to the proceedings. Divyendu’s sarcastic jibes are as much delight as Kartikeya’s outbursts against love and ladies. Which brings us to the actresses, all of which was decidedly annoying but for Nushrat perhaps.

Luv Ranjan has made an engaging satire on love, but the film tends to lose steam mid-way and plods its way to a climax that somewhat brings the story back to square one. Yet, the few funny moments it offers are worth watching.

Shahrukh Khan’s first two crushes!

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, who has an enviable female fan following, confesses to having a crush on yesteryear actresses - Mumtaz and Saira Bano.

"My first two crushes have been Mumtazji and Sairaji. Now I address them with a 'ji'. I always felt that they were the most beautiful ladies in the world. My father used to find Madhubalaji very beautiful," Shah Rukh Khan told reporters in Mumbai on the sidelines of the music launch of his upcoming production movie Always Kabhi Kabhi.

The actor said that he used to shake a leg when he heard songs picturised on the two actresses.

"I remember Sairaji's Bhai Batur. She was in a tub in the video. Even I would get into a tub and dance. Then there was Mumtazji's Chakke Mein Chakka," said SRK.

Asked if he had a crush on any of the actresses from the current league, Shah Rukh, known for his witty answers said, "Times have changed. Now the girls have crushes on me."

Always Kabhi Kabhi, produced by SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment will be the launchpad of producer Karim Morani's daughter Zoa Morani.

Directed by debutante Roshan Abbas, ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ is based on the theme of high-school life. Along with Zoa, the film stars Giselle Monterio, Satyajit Dubey and Ali Fazal. The movie will also have a guest appearance by Shahrukh himself, who has turned into an item guy for his home production.

Always Kabhi Kabhi is slated to release on June 17.

404 - Movie Review

It’s not really the edge-of-the-seat stuff, but director Prawaal Raman’s latest offering 404 does boast of a few thrilling moments. The movie is not so much of a horror film as a psychological thriller that will have you breaking cold sweat in some scenes. Having said that, it also drags for a good part of the second half and relies more than ought to have on the background sound effects.

Set in a hostel, the film tells the story of a bright and rational-minded medical student Abhimanyu (Rajvvir Aroraa) who doesn’t believe in ghosts or spirits of dead people. So without a hitch he decides to move into the room number 404 in the hostel which has been locked for many years because everyone believes that it is frequented by the ghost of a student who committed suicide in it.

Abhimanyu thinks that all the talk of ghosts is hogwash and begins living in the room. Aniruddh, who is a professor of psychiatry, admires Abhimanyu’s courage.

But then, strange happenings in the room shake up Abhimanyu’s convictions. He senses the presence of somebody. Is it really a ghost? Or are a couple of college bullies playing a prank on him? Or is it just his mind that’s playing tricks on him?

To the credit of Prawaal Raman, ‘404’ boasts of a refreshingly different story. And creating the spooky atmospherics is the commendable cinematography by Savita Singh.

Among actors, Rajvvir Aroraa is laudably restrained and Imaad Shah (as the bully Chris) is simply superb, conveying more with shrugs and stares than with dialogues. Nishikanth Kamat hams up as the psychiatry professor.

All in all, ‘404’ is a nice thriller with interesting twists and turns through somewhat slack pace. But what takes you by complete surprise is the twist in the end.

Make time for ‘404’ if you are a lover of thrillers.

Dev Anand looking for new girl

Bollywood veteran Dev Anand is looking for a new face, who could match the talent of actress Zeenat Aman for the modern age adaptation of his 1971 cult hit "Hare Rama Hare Krishna".

Zeenat played a hippie in the movie, and became an overnight success. Dev Anand is open to cast a girl from any part of India for the new film, which will be titled " Hare Rama Hare Krishna - Aaj". But his condition is that the girl should not look more than 18-19 years of age and should be able to essay the character close to what Zeenat played in the original movie. "My story will not be a remake but an adaptation of 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna'.

Since it is set in 2011, I am looking for a girl who can look very modern and become a cult figure like Zeenat," Dev Anand said in a press statement. The original "Hare Rama Hare Krishna" took a bold look at the prevalent hippie culture and growing westernisation in those times, and also carried a subtle anti-drugs message. Dev Anand has changed the storyline to fit in today's world, and the project is currently in its scripting stage. The 87-year-old evergreen star is also gearing up for the release of his next directorial film "Chargesheet".

I still cry and get stressed: SRK

Shahrukh Khan

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has transcended geographical boundaries and won hearts of millions with his charismatic screen presence, says he doesn't consider himself a star.

"The reason I say I am not a star is because I am completely human. I still cry, I still laugh, I crack jokes, I get stressed, I feel disturbed but I think you people love me so much because I could be human," he told reporters Wednesday at the music launch of his latest production "Always Kabhi Kabhi", releasing June 17.

"Even though I have this pedestal where I stand which says I am a big star but actually I am nobody till I work hard to make you smile," added the 45-year-old. To give a Midas touch to the film, Shah Rukh has appeared in a promotional song of the film "Always Kabhi Kabhi". "It's not an item number. It's the beginning of the film.
The music and the lyrics of course make it a peppy number," he clarified. This directorial debut of Roshan Abbas is also launching two new faces - Zoa Morani and Satyajeet Dubey. Actor Giselle Montario of "Love Aaj Kal" fame and Ali Fazal who did a small role in Aamir Khan-starrer " 3 Idiots" play lead roles in the film. Set in a school, "Always Kabhi Kabhi" is about four unique youngsters trying to compete with pressure of growing up and many firsts that everyone experiences in high school. As today's school life has changed a lot, King Khan could hardly identify with any except the determination of the youths to accomplish their goal. "The youth part of the film is the same as it was in my time, but the way they deal with their life has changed.

There are many things in the film that I have not done in my school life. So there are many things I couldn't identify with," said Shah Rukh. "Life has changed so much. But the thing that the film says, follow your dream, I could easily identify with. I never thought that I would come to Mumbai and do so much of work but yes I always aspired to be an actor or a sportsman. The film also shows that we should do something that I am willing to do instead of choosing the way where I can lead an easy life," he added.

Candice Boucher beats Mallika Sherawat at Cannes

Mallika Sherawat, Candice Boucher
Mallika Sherawat, Candice Boucher
Mallika Sherawat managed to walk the red carpet at the 64th Cannes Film Festival. Fresh out of her pristine white outfit she wore to the White House, the actress donned a black lace dress (a cross between a Halloween costume and a bondage dress) showing off her undies on Saturday night.

However, the eyeballs she planned on grabbing were already focussed on Playboy model Candice Boucher who walked in a transparent gown covering her vitals in lace flowers and leaving little to the imagination.

"Mallika was pretty excited about her red carpet walk. Much like her excitement over meeting the President and getting invited to the White House and meeting Scarlett Johansson and so on and so forth.

Her red carpet entry was also publicised to well (some very efficient Marketing professionals we already are aware of, need to be thanked here). She thought she'd blow everyone's mind with her entry. However, it turned out to be quite the opposite.

Mallika did wear a revealing outfit with her undergarments quite visible but it was Candice Boucher who walked in minutes before her in a see through gown and the photographers went berserk.

Candice was walking the red carpet since her film Azaan was to be showcased. She walked in with director Prashant Chaddha and the lead actor of the film Sachin Joshi. Mallika was obviously fuming but what could one do," informed our source from the event.
Although Mallika remained unavailable for comments, her spokesperson said, "Nothing like this happened."

However Sachin Joshi, the lead actor along with whom Candice entered said, "Candice's outfit did create a stir because it was quite controversial and many eyebrows were raised."
