Prakash Jha's upcoming film Aarakshan is facing politics of a different kind.

The film, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpayee and Prateik, is a hard-hitting drama influenced by one of the most controversial policies of caste-based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions.

Recently, civic authorities in Bhopal bulldozed the sets of Aarakshan because it was erected on disputed land. After this rather unpleasant incident, the film was attacked by dalit groups in Kanpur, who were miffed with Saif being a part of the cast.

Considering the actor's real life royal background, his reel life dalit avatar has been construed as an insult to the community.

Equally, if not more upset, Saif, spoke to Mumbai Mirror last evening to dispel the reasoning behind the protests and prove how insignificant they really are. He said, "There are at least four reasons, if not more, why this protest is absolutely unjustified.

In fact, the dalits should be happy that attention is being given to their cause. Secondly, the film industry is beyond caste and creed. Since 1971, the government dissolved recognition for royal families. So, I was a prince for only a year, man. I am not a prince now."

He added, "It is as wrong for the dalits to protest and discriminate against me, as it would be for me to discriminate against them. I hope they like my portrayal, if and when they see it."

When asked how his father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and his mother Sharmila Tagore reacted to the dalit protest, Saif retorted, "You know what this whole thing has been a joke. Every now and then there's an agitation, what's new?"

The argument could have lasted past sunset but the hair wouldn't have grown back to Jha's liking, at least for the next seven months na? So, Prateik was given a wig to wear. Ajay Devgn's a possessive father

Now here is someone who can take away all the limelight from Hrithik Roshan. And that too, without being a competitor in the industry.

On Sunday afternoon, Hrithik, with his team of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, was at a suburban hotel to launch the first trailer of the film.

Both actors are in Goa currently, for the shoot of Ladies Vs Ricky Behl, the YRF film being directed by Maneesh Sharma of Band Baaja Baraat fame. "They checked in at around four in the evening and are here for shoots of their film.

They are expected to stay for a week," confirmed a source from the hotel. When asked whether the two actors were in fact living in the same room, the same source admitted in a "Yes". "But we can't give you anymore details on it," added the source.

Ranveer and Anushka have always denied any kind of romantic liasion since the speculations started while they were filming their film Band Baaja Baraat.

Calling it 'platonic friendship' even on a chat show hosted by Karan Johar, the actors who are right now shacking up together in a plush suite in a resort, had been quite vehement about their denial as well.

"This is an absolutely baseless story, Ranveer and Anushka are mere friends, and are doing a film together and therefore together most of the time. It's untrue that they are staying in the same room," said Ranveer and Anushka's spokesperson, when contacted.

However, she told us that the shoot has been going on in Goa for the last two weeks and most of the crew are staying in another hotel where the actors were earlier putting up. It was only on Sunday, they moved in to the other hotel.

Shah Rukh Khan's puppy love

Shah Rukh Khan has got a new puppy for his kids. And its not just any puppy, the actor had to shell out a huge amount of Rs 50,000 for the same.

Apparently it is a top breed, show-quality puppy. The puppy's mother (Blair) is an Australian import, whereas its father (Jack) is an UK import.

The father is a top championship winning Labrador in the history of India. Even Blair won many dog shows in India.

Khan got the puppy from a breeder in Delhi. A source told us, "Yes, Shah Rukh Khan has got a new yellow Labrador puppy for his kids and he had to pay a lot for it.

The puppy cost him around Rs 50,000. The price is a bit steep, but it's a show quality puppy."

Usually show quality Labrador puppies are available in the market starting from the price range of Rs 20,000 and more.

It is quite evident that SRK wanted only the best for his two kids. The puppy is now around 55 days old.

The actor already has two dogs Hulk, a black Labrador and Dash, a Pekinese. SRK remained unavailable for comment.

Movie Review | Love U Mr Kalaakar

Starring Tusshar Kapoor, Amrita Rao, Ram Kapoor, Madhoo Directed by S Manasvi Rating; *** Tch tch.Boy is an artiste.He is humble, generous, kind and compassionate. But what the heck! He can’t keep his sweetheart in the lap of luxury. Girl’s Dad makes the Kalaakar, a cartoonist with a penchant for looking for warmth and humour in every cliché if life, an offer he can’t refuse. “Join my family business, prove yourself as a profiteer and you can have my daughter’s hand.” This, then, is the old-as-the-hills love story into which Tusshar Kapoor and Amrita Rao are thrown together. To their credit the pair gets into the mellow mood of the old-fashioned romance almost as though they’ve grown up watching the Collected Works Of Sooraj Barjatya. Having read some of the savage and dismissive reviews of this film, I am quite surprised to encounter a film which is innocuous and sweet, uncluttured and unassuming in its intentions.Neatly scripted it could do with some trimming in the last 45 minutes of playing-time. However director S Manasvi succeeds in infusing an even rhythm to the proceedings. It is Harindranath Chattopadhyay who said, “It’s very difficult to be simple.” It takes a lot of guts to make a film as simple, honest and and transparent as Love You…Mr Kalaakar in this day and age when Munni and Sheila are happily letting it all hang out and.And Ragini’s love is lost in the lust and greed of an MMS mess. Love You…Mr Kalaakar has a quaint oldworld charm to it. It doesn’t try to be anything but a story of love and trust set against the corporate kingdom. The dialogues though adhering to the film’s ‘filmy’ manoeuvres, are at times enormously moving. Tusshar and Amrita Rao convey a great deal of unalloyed charm in their collaborative romance.While Tusshar has recently found his niche as an actor one wonders why Amrita Rao has not found a place under the sun yet. The film gets a dash of added credibility from Ram Kapoor in the stereotypical part of the heroine’s disapproving father.Kapoor infuses a part belonging to Madan Puri and Pinchoo Kapoor with heart.And the Phool Aur Kante girl Madhoo has now matured into playing the leading lady’s aunt. And a dapper glamorous and sexy aunt at that. One wishes Madhoo had not packed in so many expressions in every shot. Maybe she was making up for lost time in a film that doesn’t try to live up to definitions of contemporary cinematic entertainment. Love You…Mr Kalaakar is just happy being itself.No hang-ups about its lack of innovativeness.

Don't marry me off to someone I haven't seen in years

Lisa Ray will play Kabir Bedi's daughter in her first acting assignment after being treated for multiple myeloma Thirty eight year-old Indo-Canadian actor Lisa Ray, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, is ready for her first acting assignment after recovery. Ray will act in play called Taj, which will be staged in Toronto on June 10, alongside Kabir Bedi. Bedi, who returns to the stage after a hiatus of seven years, will play Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, while Ray will play his daughter, Jahan Ara. Ray, who was in the city this March to promote stem cell therapy and research, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer of the white blood cells that affects the bone marrow. However, in April last year, Ray announced she was cancer-free, following radical stem cell therapy treatment. Ray expressed her happiness about returning to acting. "I can't wait! It's going to be a thrill and honour to work with Kabir, Lata Pada (the producer) and Tom Diamond, the director. I was compelled to be a part of a project which celebrates love and examines loss, " she said. Meanwhile, Bedi is hopeful that his second coming as the king will turn out more successful than the previous one. "I had played Shah Jehan in Akbar Khan's Taj Mahal. It suffered because of inept marketing. Hopefully this time, a lot more people will see me as Shah Jahan. I've seen other stage productions by director Tom Diamond and they are spectacular, " he said. "I knew Lisa from her early days in Bollywood. I was with Nikki Bedi (former partner) then, and Lisa and Nikki knew each other. After that, Lisa and I got busy with our own thing. We didn't meet until now. It's interesting that we're getting together on stage as father and daughter, " added Bedi. Ray also expressed her dismay over rumours that she was marrying her former long-time partner designer Paolo Zimbaldi. "The news came as a big shock. It's completely untrue. This kind of inaccurate news jeopardises my chances of a new relationship. So please, I request journalists in India not to marry me off to someone I haven't seen in years. Perhaps they can help me connect with my soulmate? The message is, come get me, I'm ready!" Other celebs who've battled cancer Sheryl Crow, Kylie Minogue and Christina Applegate have overcome breast cancer successfully in the recent past. Michael Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer last year, but has been tumour-free since January. Yves Saint Laurent died of brain cancer in 2008. Eva Peron, Argentina's first lady on whom the musical Evita is based, died of cervical cancer at the young age of 33. Walt Disney died of lung cancer at the age of 65, after smoking for over 40 years.

Love scenes for Aishwarya? There never were any

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan doesn’t need to prepare for the part of Heroine. Apparently the script has now incorporated incidents from her own journey to stardom. Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine which starts shooting on June 10, is no longer the film it was supposed to be when Kareena Kapoor was doing the project. The entire script has been re-written to suit Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Speaking from Cannes after the announcement of Heroine Madhur clarified, “First of all it is not about Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor or any other Hollywood or Bollywood actress any more. It is the story of one actress’ internalized journey into stardom, the people that she meets, the experiences that she gathers. It isn’t about the film industry. It’s about the experiences one actress. We’ve completely re-written the role to suit Aishwarya. ” When asked if the love-making sequences have been deleted as per Aishwarya’s specifications Madhur gets evasive. “There never were love scenes…not any that would need serious modification or anything. Too much has been said about the so-called love-making sequences. I never reacted because I wanted get the script and project in place rather than killing the rumours and speculation. ” Reacting to why he chose to announce Heroine in Cannes Madhur says, “Aishwarya was here in Cannes, so was my producer Ronnie Screwvala. We thought we would get a good global platform for the film Besides I hadn’t taken a break for a long time. I needed to rejuvenate myself before starting Heroine. It’s going to be a tough one. ”

Aamir Khan spooked out of his wits... flees Ragini MMS

Did you know, Aamir Khan is scared of ghosts? And that he never watches horror films? However he had no choice but to watch Ekta Kapoor’s Ragini MMS on Tuesday evening when he dropped into a suburban theatre to check out the trailer of his Delhi Belly which is being attached to Ragini MMS. Says a source present at the venue, “Aamir breezed into the studio before interval so he could monitor the point where the trailer was to be attached. Once he began watching he couldn’t stop. He kept telling Ekta he gets nightmares after watching horror films. But he just couldm’t stop watching. ” Almost towards the end of the film when the goings-on got really spooky on screen Aamir fled from the scene. Says the source, “He couldn’t take the scares anymore. He was really spooked. ” Confirming the above incident Ekta laughed, “He was really spoooooooooked. Aamir is a true rockstaah. ”

Kissing scene with Kalki Koechlin was shocker: Kirti

Kissing is no more a taboo in Indian movies and most actors are doing it, but not for the one-film-old Kirti Kulhari because the newcomer was asked to lock lips with her co-actress Kalki Koechlin for "Shaitan". She says it shocked her. "The kiss with Kalki in the film was quite a shocker for me because I was not prepared for that," Kirti told. "Director Bejoy Nambiar used to joke around on the set that Kalki and Kirti will kiss, but I took it as a joke till I realized I have to do it. I was quite shocked and that's what you'll see on the screen - my shock and my real emotions coming out. It was too sudden," added the actress who made her big screen debut with "Khichdi - The Movie" last year. Set in Mumbai, Anurag Kashyap's forthcoming production venture "Shaitan" is about evil in human beings and is full of disturbing scenes. Nambiar also roped in Rajeev Khandelwal, Gulshan Deviah, Shiv Pandit and Neil Bhoopalam for his maiden venture that revolves around five youngsters. The kissing scene was not the only part in the film that Kirti was uncomfortable with. "I have a lot of confidence in Bejoy as a director; so I have done a few things in the film, which otherwise I would have taken a lot of time to get comfortable with. Like wearing a bikini. I would not have done it, but considering the kind of film it is, Bejoy explained why it is important and I did it," said the 24-year-old. "There is another back shot that suggests that my boyfriend and I are making out. Even about that I was quite apprehensive, but I knew if Bejoy is thinking something, then it will be right. So I went ahead with it," she added. Before doing films, Kirti used to work as a model. She started her modelling career in 2007 and has done ad films for products like Videocon, Parachute hair oil and ICICI Bank. "Shaitan" sees Kirti as Tanya Sharma, a lower middle-class girl aspiring to be a top model. But she is unable to fulfil her big dreams. For the actress, shooting for the film, which is landing in the theatres June 10, was mentally and physically exhausting. "I have scenes which were very tough. There is a scene where I'm being slapped and my head is being banged against the wall. In one scene, I'm lying in a pool of blood and then one is where I'm in the hospital with all bruises. "For me, it was a very disturbing experience. Because even though you are an actor, you don't always act, there are moments when you actually feel what is happening in a scene. Many times during the shoot I cried to vent my emotions; it was very tough," she said.

Hrithik Roshan getting back at the media?

Dressed in blue casual t-shirt and jeans, Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan was out to have loads of fun and laugh at the trailer launch of Zoya Akhtar's much awaited road trip film 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'.

He was either giving smart-alec answers, or answering on other's behalf, or else poking fun at the media. Referring to Kalki Koechlin's marriage, when some one asked that who is the next to get married from the team, Hrithik retorted, "Kya main aapko pandit lagta hoon? (Do you think I am a pandit?) When asked the most dangerous stunt the crew members did in the film, on behalf of the film producer, Ritesh Sidhwani, Hrithik said, "Signing our cheques."

And whenever somebody praised him for his looks or body, Hrithik would look up and start giving a 'speech', "I would like to thank my mom, my dad, god..for making me look so lovely and keeping me in good shape.." Wonder if he was getting back at the media for giving him bad press. The film's promo on television can be seen from May 29 onwards.

Madhuri in, Aishwarya out

Rumours flew thick on how Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's refusal to greenlight Satte Pe Satta had forced the producers Ashtavinayak and Sanjay Dutt to push the remake of the Amitabh Bachchan-Hema Malini film to 2012.

But there was a windfall for young director Soham Sha who got none other than Bollywood's dancing diva Madhuri Dixit to say yes to him. Says Soham, "I was always keen on Madhuri playing Hema Malini's role in my remake. However, I was hesitant to put the proposal forward wondering if she would accept it. Looks like someone up there was listening because Dhillin Mehta and Baba (Sanjay) who are co-producers sent Madhuri a message. I sent her the script and I was ecstatic when she agreed."

Sanjay is also happy that Madhuri, who he holds in high esteem as an actor, and one of the most professional artistes he has known, will be part of his second home production. Soham confirms that the film will go on floors in mid-June and will be completed in a 45-day continuous schedule.

"After this, we will have two songs remaining to be picturised which we will do when Madhuri returns." Dhillin Mehta says, "Honestly, the Sanjay-Madhuri pair has its own charm. We are delighted that we were able to get her to say yes to us. Sometimes things work out for the best. We are happy to announce this film on her birthday today."

Shahid Kapoor fell off a giant wheel

Yesterday Shahid Kapoor, who was shooting for 'Mausam', fell off a giant wheel and injured his hand.

Now this is what you call breaking news in literal sense. Shahid Kapoor fell of a giant wheel yesterday and almost broke his hand. He was shooting at Jogeshwari for his film Mausam directed by father Pankaj Kapoor.

Luckily he didn't fell from great height so his hand injury was not very severe. He was rushed for medical aid and is advised rest by doctor. Incidentally this is not the first time when Shahid Kapoor injured himself while shooting for Mausam .

Last year, while they were shooting in Scotland, Shahid hurt his back badly due to which the shooting schedule of the film went for a toss for some days. However this time Shahid's injury won't cause much problem for the film since Mausam is almost complete with a few days of patchwork shooting pending.

Salman in ready for another remake - Mirapakai

After 'Wanted', 'Ready', 'Bodyguard', 'Kick', Salman seems keen to work in another south superhit – 'Mirapakai'.

It seems like Salman Khan is supremely impressed by South Indian cinema. His Waanted which was remade from Pokiri turned out to be a superhit and ever since then he has been working on South Indian remakes. All his promising upcoming releases including Ready , Bodyguard and Kick happen to be South remakes.

This time Salman Khan seems impressed by a Telugu film called Mirapakai . The film released in January this year and was a huge hit. Mirapakai stars Telugu superstar Ravi Teja in the role of a cop from the intelligence bureau. Perhaps Salman Khan wants to carry forward his cop image after the success of Dabangg . If industry insiders are to be believed, the film will be produced by Sohail Khan and they plan to take the director of the original, Harish Shankar to make the Hindi remake as well.

Interestingly the Telugu remake of Salman Khan's Dabangg which is titled Gabbar Singh and stars Pawan Kalyan is being directed by Harish Shankar.

More interestingly Mirapakai means Red Chillies, which is what Ravi Teja's character is fondly called by his colleagues for his hot-n-happening attitude. We guess the Red Chillies connotation has nothing to do with Shah Rukh Khan.

Sohini Sarkar returns to television!

The audience was disappointed when "Gaaner Opare" went off air. But this news will bring smiles on the faces of those who can't do without their daily dose of megaserials. Prosenjit Chatterjee's production house, that churned out "GO", is making "Adwytiya", the lead role of which would be played by actor Sohini Sarkar.

"I play the the title role and I am really happy to have bagged this offer. Anuja, who is writing the script, called me one day and narrated the story in a nutshell. I jumped at the offer because Adwytiya's character has got a lot of shades. It will give me an opportunity to showcase my acting prowess," says an elated Sohini. She is currently in the Sunderbans shooting for the same. Ask her about the storyline of "Adwytiya" and she elaborates, "The serial is about Adwytiya's life — her ups and downs. It stresses on the fact that
brilliant students, who leave the country and settle abroad, should spare some of their precious time for their homeland and work in the remote areas. The serial wants to drive home the point that with a little help from the privileged lot, the lives of those who lead a miserable existence can change."

Sohini is on cloud nine. She is getting acting tips from none other than Prosenjit Chatterjee himself! "Adwytiya is a simple girl who is confident but, at the same time, breaks down under stress. So, Bumbada asked me to be confident while acting and not to show overconfidence. In fact, he tells me, tor attitude ta kemon jeno lar ke lenge Hindustan er moto, but Adwytiya is a demure girl," Sohini grins.

Coming back to the serial, we ask if there a political angle in the serial? "Adwytiya's life can't be beyond
politics, love etc. One's life is obviously within a socio-economic-political boundary," says the actor.

And we only come to know about the condition of a remote village when there is any political turmoil and that too, through media.

But there are so many other issues like health, education, etc, which the villagers face but we are not aware of. "Adwytiya" tries to explore all these. The political and love angles have not come in as of now in the serial," informs Sohini.

There is more reason for our audience to cheer as Gaurav Chakrabarty, Indrasish Roy, Mithu Chakrabarty along with others are part of the cast of "Adwytiya" .

Sohini, who took a six-month-break from megaserials to pursue theatre, is presently acting in "Chirokumar Sabha." "As an actor, I realized that one can't mature if he or she is not part of stage. And I am happy to be treading the boards," confessed Sohini. Let's hope Sohini proves that she's second to none with "Adwytiya" .

Leena Jumani's first lip-lock!

TV has come of age and so have actors. They are trying things that were considered taboo until now.

One such actress is Leena Jumani aka Pakhi of Ganga Kii Dheej, who decided to shed all inhibitions and get into her first lip-lock ever with her male co-star Mohit Raina, of course on screen. But shooting for it obviously wasn't easy for this shy Gujarati girl.

Leena's character Pakhi recently got married on the show and it was time for consummation and that would mean some explicit and intimate scenes. She was intimated by the makers about the rain song with Mohit, which would ultimately lead to intimacy and conclude with a passionate kiss.

Everything went off well and so did the steamy smooch, but now the channel is in a predicament whether to air it or not. We contacted Leena who was rather chilled out about shooting the kiss sequence, but she admitted, "The consummation scene was one of the most stressful scenes I have shot so far. Moreover, Mohit and I had to make it look sensuous.

My biggest worry was the lip-lock. Thankfully, the song was picturised without many retakes and most importantly the lip-lock was passed in one attempt. I don't have any qualms to doing such scenes as long as I am convinced that its inevitable to the script." Is the Bhatt camp or Emraan Hashmi hearing?

Attention-seeker Ankita Lokhande!

Only when another TV actor Sushant Singh Rajput joined her, did I realise they are the Pavitra Rishta couple who were also seen in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. But I couldn't stop wondering at Ankita's denseness. What was she trying to do? Was it a ploy to grab the attention of the shutterbugs? Whatsoever, nobody fell for it. Since nobody was checking her out, she was checking herself out." Why stress yourself Ankita when you had your boyfriend at your disposal to check you and shower attention?

The trailer of Zoya Akhtar's much awaited road trip film 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' starring Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin was launched for digital channels today at a suburban five star hotel in Mumbai.

The trailer which is bound to remind you a lot of 'The Hangover' and Farhan's own 'Dil Chahta Hai', proved to be a revelation of sorts as far as Katrina Kaif is concerned.

The actress is not only seen showing off dare devilry by indulging in sky and scuba diving but also by riding a Harley Davidson for the first time! Also all you Sheila fans can move aside for the actress is now free-spirited Laila, who doesn't shy away from wearing leather jackets and pants.

In a chat with TOI, Katrina revealed, "My character's name is Laila in ZNMD and I play a diving instructor! I rode a bike too and learnt riding it within few days before I shot the scene which took around 3 hours. I am ready to ride a bike on the streets of Mumbai now and would love to take Hrithik Roshan for a ride!"

We saw Kareena Kapoor ride the bike in Golmaal, Minissha Lamba in Kidnap and now its Katrina.

Lets wait and watch if Katrina proves to be the most convincing biker babe, Bollywood will finally get to see.

Shweta Tiwari says no to bikini

Sex might sell, but Shweta Tiwari does not want to be the one selling it. Since filming for Chandrakant's Bin Bulaye Baarati, the actress has had problems with her assigned wardrobe, but went along with it anyway.

However, the director's request to wear a bikini for the introductory sequence of the film pushed Tiwari too far flinging the two-piece on his face.

A source said, "Earlier too, Shweta had to wear clothes she did not like and never really argued much about it. She was asked to wear a pink top, with a plunging neckline, which she stuck a patch on (pic 1).

After a few days, Chandrakant wanted her to wear a white saree, draped below her waist, with only a tube blouse. She didn't wear the tube top but just wrapped the saree instead, in such a way that it would look sexy but not vulgar (pic 2)."
When contacted, Tiwari confirmed, "The bikini scene was not told to me, when I signed the film. I was told to emerge out of a swimming pool, talking on my mobile. How ridiculous and vulgar is that?"

Previously, Chandrakant had made remarks on Shweta being unprofessional, costing her an assignment. "I have always been professional and this has never happened to me in my 13 year career," said the actress.

When contacted, Chandrakant said, "Yes, we are not going ahead with Shweta's bikini."

Abhay has taken off his pants: Hrithik

When asked as to why he didn't take off his clothes, Abhay grossed out the press and his co-stars by giving a detailed explanation.

"I have a lot of hair on my chest and there is a scene in the film where we have these tomatoes all over our bodies. I told my stylist that if the tomatoes stick to my chest hair the sight won't be pleasant. Otherwise, I have no issues with taking off my clothes" said Abhay evoking displeasure on everyone's face including Farhan and Hrithik's.

Hrithik added with a wink, "Abhay has in fact gone bottomless in the film. You will see him remove his clothes too."

Now, given the bachelor trip theme of the film, it is but expected boys.

Sonakshi goes underground

Sonakshi Sinha, it seems, has got some solid career advice — let your work do the talking. The actress, who has been courting back-to-back controversies for a few months, and has been making enemies out of Katrina Kaif, Zarine Khan and other actresses, has now decided to lie low.

And guess who has given her this tip? Of course, it's her mentor Salman Khan, who was quite concerned about his find always getting tangled in controversies. The volatile of all the Khans, who himself stays away from the spotlight, has ordered Sona to stay away from talking to the media unless there is something big to talk about.

Says a source, "Sona was really disturbed after a spate of controversies in the tabloids. Constant comparisons to Kat, getting into catfights with Zarine, all of this worked against Sonakshi. She was on the verge of breaking down. She talked to Salman, who asked her to ignore everything and just concentrate on her work."

While Sonakshi herself has been stoically avoiding media attention and phone calls, one of her close aides confirmed the above story. Said the friend, "All of us feel Sonakshi needs to lie low. From now on her films can do the talking. After all, within a year she has become a rage."

SRK shakes a leg, southern style

When Shah Rukh Khan came to the Garden City to watch his IPL team take on Team Bangalore on Saturday, he proved he could wield the bat during a friendly 10-over-a-team match.

And now, he has also proven that he is a versatile dancer when he shook a leg, Bharatanatyam style, for his forthcoming RA.One.

SRK will be seen performing Bharatanatyam steps in the song Chamak Challo alongside Kareena Kapoor, who will sizzle on-screen in a saree. "SRK will be a wearing a formal three-piece suit. In the song, he comes across a group of dancers that is performing Bharatanatyam. Since he is a superhero, he can do anything. So he tries to get the steps right. He has actually danced with a lot of panache," says Ganesh Hegde, who did the choreography for SRK for this song.

According to Ganesh, this was the most challenging shoot for Shah Rukh. "Everybody tries to play safe with SRK by giving him simple steps, but I have tried doing new stuff," says Ganesh. The song, Chamak Challo, has been sung by international singer Akon in Hindi.
