Giselli Monteiro’s passport under scrutiny

The Love Aaj Kal actress was grilled at the international airport recently, the officials doubted her nationality.

We last saw her with Saif Ali Khan as the beautiful Punjabi girl Harleen Kaur in Love Aaj Kal. No one thought she was actually a Brazilian and that is what exactly happened recently even on the airport.

We bumped into Giselli on the final day of the Lakme Fashion Week and couldn't recognize her for she does look Indian!

Smiling at our opinion she nodded in affirmative and spoke to us in English with subtle Portuguese accent, "Yes everybody feels the same! I had gone back home to Brazil recently for a couple of weeks. My mother accompanied me back to India. The security people at the Mumbai airport were shocked as they went through my passport where it was mentioned that my nationality is Brazilian. They asked for my mother's passport too thinking may be I was half Indian or something. But nor my mum or dad have any Indian connection and that took them by surprise. They examined my passport closely and told me that I look Indian."

The actress adds, "I have no complains as it works in my favour. My mother has been here a couple of times, and she is not worried about me living here alone as I have been modelling since the age of 16. I am 22 now."

The actress will be soon seen in Shah Rukh's home production, Always Kabhi Kabhi.

Produced by Shah Rukh Khan, the film marks the directorial debut of actor-presenter, radio jockey and theatre artist, Roshan Abbas and stars debutantes Zoa Morani, Giselli Monteiro, Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dubey in the lead roles.

Jacqueline takes on Mallika!

Jacqueline Fernandez is set to give Mallika Sherawat a run for her money in the sequel to Murder.

The actress apparently has many steamy scenes with Emraan Hashmi and is using the film to build the sexy image for herself, just like Mallika did with the original. Sources in the production say that she has no qualms about going ultra bold and has apparently been saying that she will go a step ahead of Ms. Sherawat.

Some steamy lip-locks are also part of the plan. Later, we'll ask Emraan who was a better kisser.

Priyanka fights on flight | Video News

Mahie: Who would not like to kiss John?

Running her fingers through her neatly cut hair and arranging it constantly, the first question instantly crops up — Cutting one's hair makes news, why? (laughs aloud) "Yes, even I was wondering! How does it matter if I keep my hair long or cut it short. Actually, I felt bad when it was written that being a Punjabi I have cut my long tresses — come on, not all Punjabi girls keep their hair long these days, what's the big deal?

This is the sultry Mahie Gill — straight and bindaas. "I have never really cared much about the world. I like to focus on my work and be known for that. When I was linked with Randeep Hooda and rumors about our marriage spread, I called Randeep and asked, 'So when are we getting married, reports says so'. He just laughed.

The 'I couldn't care less' attitude however, should not be mistaken for arrogance, she maintains. "I am a very chilled out person. Of course, coming from Chandigarh and now settled in Mumbai, my journey has taught me a lot of things and that includes — how to speak, how to behave, what to wear, right make-up for right occasion and things that work in the industry," she says and we are quick to ask, you mean networking? "Networking, yes. But that I have been doing ever since my struggling days. I would attend a lot of parties and keep meeting people. I never borrowed money from my parents after a certain age. But I knew that to look good and be noticed, I have to spend huge bucks on clothes, shoes, make-up, accessories. I would somehow try and arrange the money for these. And luckily, I did get noticed at one of these parties and bagged the role in "Dev D"," Mahie smiles.
While networking, how much of the casting couch exists? "Fortunately, I never had to face it. Lucky me, fingers crossed," Mahie says.

Surprisingly, after the hit "Dev D", Mahie was spotted in small roles in "Gulal" and then the blink-and-miss role in "Dabangg". "Sometimes, you also have to oblige your friends in the industry. I did "Dabangg" for Abhinav (Kashyap), he had requested me to, just like I am doing "Buddha In A Traffic Jam" for Vivek Agnihotri," she says adding, "Interestingly, Vivek does not remember that I had auditioned for "Goal" and was rejected... (laughs) I was actually so excited that I would get to kiss John Abraham! Who wouldn't like to kiss him?"

So, is it arthouse cinema that interests her more? "Nothing like that. I am open to anything, even a minuscule appearance in a film as long as I am a crucial part of the storyline." She does not want to be missing from the big screen, so it seems. So, which Khan is she eyeing? "Well, I love all the Khans (laughs). I just love Salman for he is a fun guy. I had a nice time working with him in "Dabangg". Then, I like Aamir because of the films he makes or is associated with. I love Shah Rukh because he is a total romantic. I would love to romance him on the screen." But who tops the list? "It has to be Aamir, may be because I like the fact that he is a perfectionist."

And real-life Mr Perfectionist? "You mean if I am seeing anybody? I am in a relationship for the past one year. Please don't ask me about marriage, it's not anytime soon." Alright, but what caught his attention? "Well, I think my sex appeal lies in my eyes and I guess I must have killed him with my eyes..."

Arjun Rampal to copy Chulbul Pandey's style

Determined to break the cliches of a small-town cop, Tigmanshu Dhulia is giving Arjun Rampal time to essay the real-life character based in Jai Ramji

The man is incredible. He is not only a super capable police officer but also a connoisseur of French wines and Hindustani classical music.

He can nab a criminal as swiftly as he can identify a thumri or dadra," describes neo-realist director Tigmanshu Dhulia about the real-life cop from Allahabad, who is the subject of his film Jai Ramji.

Arjun Rampal, who will essay the character, is heading to Allahabad next month to meet the subject of the film.

Dhulia is adamant that Rampal take time to understand the real-life cop because he wants to break the stereotypical depiction of a small-time boorish cop with his khaki shirt open to his naval and his gun half out of his holster.

As Dhulia explains, "Why must we always presume that small-town cops from North India are like Chulbul Pandey? I know so many civil servants in UP who are suave, worldly, wise, literate and erudite.

Arun's character of the cop is as much into aesthetics and arts as he is into nabbing hardcore criminals. I want him to spend at least two weeks in preparation. I don't want him to just wear khaki and behave like a filmi cop."

Media-celebrities go hand in hand: Katrina

From her break-up with Salman Khan to her link-up with Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif's personal life is constantly under the scanner.

The British-born actress says the unrelenting attention does affect her sometimes but she has learnt to cope with the pressures."We are human beings and sometimes it does affect us especially when so much is being said and written that doesn't make sense. But one learns and I have also learnt to cope with it," Katrina told in an interview over the phone from Mumbai.

"I have learnt that media and celebrities go hand in hand and now I don't feel the need to clarify my stance and I am not bothered. Audiences have also become mature and they also understand what is right and what is wrong," added the 26-year-old.

The actress has no films scheduled for immediate release, but will be seen in a new LUX soap ad to promote its new range - Lux Fresh Splash.

This year, her first release will be in June with Zoya Akhtar's " Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", also starring Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar and Kalki Koechlin. After that she will be seen in "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan".

Katrina was introduced into the Hindi film industry with "Boom" in 2003, but the first hit came only four years later with " Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya". Her career zoomed with "Namastey London", in which she teamed up with Akshay Kumar, released in the same year.

Some of of her big box office hits are "Partner", "Welcome" and "Singh Is Kinng". Her item number "Sheila Ki Jawani" from Farah Khan's "Tees Maar Khan" has got perhaps the maximum publicity, but Katrina has also forayed into meaningful cinema with " New York" and "Rajneeti".

Asked whether she is a director's actor, Katrina said: "Every actor is a director's actor. It's the director who helps the actor in bringing the character alive on screen and then there is the script to support. It is part and parcel of the profession."

As her career skyrockets, expectations have also become higher and Katrina admits to some nervousness.

"If you lose that nervousness or anticipation that means you have reached a saturation point which is the worst thing for any actor. For me, it is important that I live up to the expectations of my fans and I don't let them down."

So does Katrina fear failure?

"Fear is something that drives you to do good work and it is important for a person to maintain a positive attitude and keep on doing good work," she said.

With films, endorsements, performances and media appearances crowding her to-do-list, the actress admits she sometimes finds it difficult to cope with the hectic work life.

"Sometimes it becomes difficult to stay calm, cool; and with a busy schedule I do get tired, but it's part of our job. I keep doing things that help me to relax. I do things that rejuvenate me, things that give me extra help," she said.

Not embarrassed of my love scene with Katrina

Gulshan Grover says he isn't ashamed or unhappy with the intimate scene he shot with Katrina Kaif that shall feature on the new DVD of Boom.

Memories from the past seem to have come back to hound Katrina Kaif. Especially ones that she would surely want to forget. Recently it was reported that the DVD of her first film Boom will be re-released in the market with some never-before-seen footage. And these unseen portions include an intimate scene between Katrina Kaif and Bollywood's patented bad man – Gulshan Grover.

Katrina was new and naïve then. Today she is superstar and sophisticated. It could be embarrassing for her that after all these years the explicit footage will now come out in open. Ask the other person involved in the scene, Gulshan Grover and he says, "I have never been embarrassed by that scene because I merely play a character in it. Today every talent knows that any photograph or video footage of their which they would have wanted to go unnoticed earlier, would somehow resurface with the kind of media and medium we have today. So they are prepared for it".

Going back the memory lane, Gulshan Grover says, "The scene that you talk about shot between Katrina Kaif and me is a beautiful sequence shot on the backdrop of the aquarium of Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. I am not ashamed or unhappy about it in any way".

In fact he reasons that the scene was earlier cut from Boom because of length issues. "The film was such that its eccentricities did not gel with the Indian audiences then. It was ahead of its times. In fact I make it a point to show the Boom DVD to my Hollywood friends because they seem to understand and appreciate the film better".

Vanessa Hudgens was a fast-food addict

Vanessa Hudgens has revealed that she was so addicted to fast food back in 2007 that she had to struggle to fit into her 'High School Musical' costumes.

"I was so unhealthy,'' the Daily Mail quoted Hudgens who flaunts her toned physique on the cover of Shape magazine as saying.

"I used to go to Cold Stone Creamery, get a tub of Butterfinger ice cream and eat it all before bedtime. And my fingers were permanently stained orange from Cheetos," she said.

But gorging on fast food quickly came back to haunt her when she stopped her rigorous dance routines when the High School Musical live tour took a break.

"When I came back, I almost couldn''t get my costume on," she admits."When I finally got it zipped up, my boobs were up to my chin!

Actor Ryan Phillippe's ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp could be pregnant with his baby.

Another source told the site Knapp "has been telling people" that Phillippe "is the father".

Singing superstars Shaan & Sunidhi Chauhan will be voicing for the lead characters 'Blu' & 'Jewel' respectively in the forthcoming 3D animation film ' Rio '.

SRK praised Salman: Abhinav

Abhinav Kashyap a.k.a. Dabangg director and brother of Anurag Kashyap, only recently visited Shah Rukh Khan at his residence and all hell broke loose. There were talks that Abhinav had left the Salman camp for Shah Rukh's. However, Abhinav Kashyap denied all of this when we put him in the hot seat.

He told us, "Yes, I did go to Shah Rukh's house. He saw Dabangg, thought it to be a good movie, and share the appreciation with me. He's an actor, I'm a director, we are a part of the same industry, there was no reason why I shouldn't have met him. I didn't meet him in hinding, I told Arbaaz that Shah Rukh had called me home and that I intended to meet him," he said.

Abhinav further added, "SRK spoke a great deal about Dabangg. He praised Salman's performance in it. He applauded Arbaaz' production efforts. He congratulated me on a job well done as well. That was really all that happened when I visited Shah Rukh."

About Abhinav's next project, it's going to be backed by Viacom 18. Nothing else has been decided yet. A film with SRK? "Well, if fate has it that we work together, we will. Nothing has been talked about so far."

I'm not a f**k buddy: Payal

Payal Rohatgi declares she is, "angry and in mood for vengeance," She was recently discharged from a nursing home, where she was treated for depression.

She's been grappling with the decision to bare her mind about her tryst with Dibakar Banerjee. But now she has decided she wants to have her say. In a no holds barred conversation, she reveals her version of what happened between them, during their short four-month friendship.

Payal says a few months ago she sent an SMS to Dibakar, introducing herself and asking to meet him. According to her, since then they've been friends. "You could also call him a mentor." She adds they'd often talk about relationships – his and hers. "I spoke about my problems (split with Rahul Mahajan), and he'd talk about his marriage not working. He advised me to see a psychiatrist from Bombay Hospital, someone whom he sees to discuss his inability to be monogamous and his need for multiple affairs." She admits not minding being agony aunt to him.

Things changed after she auditioned for a role for his upcoming film, Shanghai. "I mentioned to him that I want to act, and asked for a role in his film. He asked me to meet Atul Mongia, his casting director. The scene required me to react to the news about my husband's murder. I think I gave my best because I cried my heart out. After the audition I messaged Dibakar, and he asked me how I was feeling. I told him I was very low because to portray the grief I'd imagined my mother dying." She claims he then offered to come to her house. "He'd been over before and we've hung out but he never misbehaved with me. So, I agreed. When he came, he commented that I had put on weight. I was puzzled. He then asked me to lift my shirt and show him my stomach. I got pissed-off. I told him not joke around as I was feeling low. I said to him, 'Let me be, and please leave.' And he left."

She says after that whenever she tried to call the director, he never took her calls. "After the positive feedback on the day of the audition, I was surprised when the casting director told me that Dibakar and the core crew preferred another girl. I messaged him requesting him to give me the role and that I was ready to do a two-day workshop, and also do a second audition. No revertal, no reply, nothing from this man who'd call me at least 20 times a month," she says in a high pitch. She says this behaviour from 'a friend' devastated her. She continues, "This must have happened to me before. But never from a friend. You can't f**k your buddy, if you are giving her a role!"

What Dibakar has to say...

The meeting: Payal contacted me first around March 2010 through many texts and phonecalls of an over familiar nature. She said she wanted to act in meaningful films rather than do item numbers. Upon her repeated insistence I met her at a Business Centre of a Five Star hotel in a business environment.

There I impressed that the ONLY way to act in my film would be to pass a screen test. Because her texts were flirtatious I clarified in a frank and forthright way – that if I were to ever cheat on my marriage, I would rather have an extra marital affair with a non actor than ask for sexual favours in return for a role as that would really go against my deepest principles. After that there were many calls and texts asking for professional advice. I learnt other directors had got similar calls too. However giving her benefit of doubt I referred her to my casting and workshop director whom she contacted.

The counselling session: After which there were many phone calls where she sought advice on a personal front. Realizing that she was a deeply troubled person I recommended acting teachers, playgroups, theatre workshops and a personal counselor to h er. This counselor was someone I had consulted, during my darkest hours in 2004 when Khosla was not releasing and there had been a death in the family. This is no secret. Many of my friends, colleagues and my wife know about it. This was told to Payal as a way of telling her that all bad patches can be overcome if one is determined.

The screen test: She contacted me in early 2011. I told her to test for Shanghai by contacting my casting director. She insisted on meeting him and me for workshops before testing. I did not meet her in any way during this period though she called me for advice a few times. After testing for the role, she called him and me many times in a disturbed state. Apparently the testing for the role of a bereaved wife had seriously unsettled her. I told her to get on out and meet friends. I was on my way to a colleague's studio and she insisted on coming there, to presumably to talk to me about the test and cheer up. She also insisted that I pick her up. I was unwise enough to accede.

The meeting at her house: When I reached her place, she asked me up as she would take five minutes. I was barely there for a few minutes and my driver can affirm that. Nothing of any sexual, exploitative or suggestive nature transpired – I'm willing to swear in court to that. After which I escorted her to the studio, where an hour-long happy interaction with people present, while I withdrew to work. This is where the conversation about her weight took place! My colleague remembers it! And there was no request to lift her top – but a discussion on the weight of the character she was testing for! She started texting me shortly after this, asking about the screen test results. I texted her to please check with my casting director, as is my policy. Upon which the texts again became insistent and troubled. This time I took a call as this repetitive pattern of help-anxiety-help was taking its toll. I decided to end communication.

After ending communication: Her texts became angrier, more disturbed. She called me and my casting director in the middle of the night in an angry state. Then all communication stopped. The screen test cue sheet proves the date is 7th February. Why does one take so long to ask redressal? During this clarification you will note that I have not betrayed the many details of Payal's confidential life that she narrated to me while asking for advice. My cardinal mistake has been to take her aim to act in meaningful roles sincerely. And in my well-meaningness and well known practice of being cordial and respectful to all who approach me, misjudged her desperation and level of disturbance and the length she's willing to go to damage a well wisher who just happened to give her a screen test and then not find her suitable.
