Harry Potter movie studio tour to open in 2012

London, Mar 5Harry Potter fans will see first hand the sets, costumes and props used in the movie when a new tour opens next year.

The Making of Harry Potter will let fans go on a walking tour through the wizard franchise’s production base in Leavesden.

Among the sets, they’ll see Hogwarts head teacher Professor Dumbledore’s office and the Great Hall of the wizarding school, where stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint all filmed scenes.

“We’re incredibly excited,” the Daily Star quoted a spokesperson for film studio Warner Bros., as saying. (ANI)
Film: “Black Swan”;
Cast: Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Vincent Cassel, Barbara Hershey, Winona Ryder;
Director: Darren Aronofsky;
Rating: **** – a dark perfection.

Though weakness, fragility and ugliness are frowned upon, these are the elixir of life. For there could be no conception of strength or beauty without it. And it is the conception of these opposites — black and white, beauty and ugliness, good and evil, woman and her doppelganger that auteur Darren Aronofsky explores in “Black Swan”, beginning with the two words of the film’s name that stand for opposites.

Nina (Nataile Portman), a ballerina, is desperate for the part of the swan queen in the ballet Swan Lake. The director, though impressed with her discipline, does not think she has it in her to play the swan queen’s evil twin, black swan. And she indeed gets too easily intimidated by everyone. However, gradually she observes changes in herself.

After a rash incident makes her director choose her, her dark side takes over gradually and through schizophrenic hallucinations, she not only plays the black swan, but becomes it in her mind and achieves perfection.

While casting Nina, the director tells Nina: “What is the use of all that discipline. Let go. Transcend. Surprise yourself”. That is what Aronofsky, an extremely disciplined filmmaker, seems to be telling himself.

After he hangs Mickey Rourke mid-air in the last shot of his last film “The Wrestler”, here he lets his ballerina take her leap of faith and follows his camera to her fall to ecstasy. Taking a leap with Rourke in the last film and Portman in this, Aronofsky does reach his own perfection.

Aronofsky’s skills are evident in the way he tells the story; a good part of it through mere reflection. Nina sees her dark reflection on the glass of a suburban train. Later, when she sees Beth, who she has replaced, for the first time after her accident, she sees her as a reflection on a glass pane of a door. Both these reflection foreshadow her future.

Unlike “The Fountain”, where he traverses the universe, here he confines himself to the immediate space of his ballerina. As her split personality and schizophrenic hallucinations become more pronounced, the camera composes her tightly as the spaces keep getting more and more constricted, till the end where she flies away.
It is the nature of things that opposite enhances. White looks whiter near black, beauty shines more in the presence of ugliness, strength soars in front of weakness. And that is the intention of “Black Swan”, to enhance white, beauty and strength, by highlighting the opposite, but showing the protagonist reach these using the opposite.

Natalie Portman, who won an Oscar for this role, drowns herself in this dark tale of an obsessed ballerina. She’s fragile and evil in equal and delicate measure, a quality without which the film would not have worked. And with over a century-old composer in Tchaikovsky, whose compositions embody opposites, the film does manage to achieve its own cinematic perfection.

Jennifer Lopez loses her curves

London, March 6 – The famous curvaceous body of the singer is no more in sight as Jennifer Lopez have been replaced by a leaner, fitter look.

The 41-year-old was happy to show off her slim legs in shorts and her washboard stomach in a midriff-baring lace blouse when she stepped out in Hollywood this week, reports express.co.uk.
J-Lo has been following an exercise programme and, it is said, using the Dukan diet to get into shape.

The French eating regime combines slow-releasing carbohydrates such as wholegrain rice with protein-rich foods such as chicken and fish.

Vidya: I am searching for a Bengali man

Bollywood beauty Vidya Balan and leading Bengali band 'Chandrabindoo' were seen sharing the platform together in a city hotel as they shared their experiences of working together for a new television commercial of hair oil brand Nihar Naturals.

"Working in this commercial was a wonderful experience as the song captured the brand's message to the Bengali woman who are always very intelligent and progressive thinking," Balan said.

"Chandrabindoo's catchy tune and lyrics, the fresh and engaging approach of the TV commercial is sure to strike a chord with all the women of Bengal," Balan said.

The actor said that she feels a strong bond for Kolkata and searches for excuses to visit the city.

"I am deeply associated with Bengal. I think I hardly know anybody having so much touch with Bengal as I do," she said.

Expanding her love for Bengal, she said in humorous tone: "I am always searching for a Bengali man to settle down with. See if I can get him," she said.

Speaking about her upcoming movie named KAHAANI, Balan said: "The film has been directed by Sujoy da (Sujoy Ghosh) and the entire film has been shot in Kolkata."

"This has been five years after which I had a full-fledged shooting in Kolkata," she informed.

Balan said that she is willing to work in a Bengali movie with ace Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh.

"Every year we feel we should work together, but it never realizes," she said.

Speaking about her upcoming film on actor Silk Smitha, Balan said: "You won't be able to imagine me in that role! But that is a challenge for an actor."

"I have not started preparing for the film, but I will watch her films once I start preparing for the film," she concludes.

Why Roshan didn't cast Shahrukh in ALWAYS KABHI KABHI?

Though there were three parts for which Sahahrukh Khan could have been considered as an actor in ALWAYS KABHI KABHI, director Roshan Abbas decided to have other actors on board instead. This was surprising for many in the close circle of Roshan as Shahrukh was also the producer of this teen high school entertainer and hence it was more or less a give that he would have a part to play as an actor as well.

"The film is about teenagers, or shall I say 'young adults', so Shahrukh would obviously have not fitted into any of those roles", smiles Roshan Abbas, the first time director who would be making his debut with ALWAYS KABHI KABHI, a Shahrukh Khan production, "Amongst the elders there were three other roles where he could have been considered. One was that of an English teacher, another of a Chemistry teacher and the third was that of the Principal."

However when Roshan thought hard around the casting decision, he felt that Shahrukh Khan would have been wasted had he played any of these parts. Instead actors like Lillete Dubey, Vijay Raaz and Akash Khurana came on board for the respective parts. So while Roshan went ahead and ensured that Lillete was not playing an over the top English teacher but was truly convincing, Vijay Raaz's part of a chemistry teacher didn't look like an Einstein. In fact Roshan went ahead and made him look like his own Hindi teacher from his school days.

"In any case, if at all I had to have him act in a film of mine, I would want it for a 200 minutes long film. Why restrict it to a 20 minutes appearance", jokes Roshan who has been associated with Shahrukh Khan for over 20 years since his theatre days.

Lara Dutta’s second innings

From launching her second yoga DVD to completing Don 2 and her home production, Lara Dutta seems busy post marriage.

Marriage hasn't made Lara Dutta homebound. In fact the actress has become more active and busy post marriage. Currently shooting for Farhan Akhtar's ' Don 2 ', Lara is back in Bangalore for the launch of her second yoga DVD.

"I am in Bangalore to launch the 2nd DVD in the 'H.E.A.L with Lara' series," said the actress, who will be flying back to Langkawi, Malaysia on the same day to join ' Don 2 ' team again.

Unlike other newly married couples, Lara and Mahesh got back to their respective responsibilities rather than going on a prolonged honeymoon. Lara also completed her first home production ' Chalo Dilli ' which is expected to release before ' Don 2 '. This will be her first release after marriage.

We wish Lara all the best!

Eesha Koppikar makes a comeback

Eesha says she hasn't quit films and is looking forward to the release of her much awaited film Shabri.

Gone are the days when actresses used to quit films after marriage. Actresses like Aishwarya Rai and Ayesha Takia, who are married and acting in films at the same time, proved it wrong. Eesha Koppikar who got married two years back has joined the bandwagon.

Eesha admits that she didn't sign any film after marriage but that doesn't mean she is quitting films. "Honestly I didn't sign any movies for a year. I wanted to settle and enjoy this new married phase of my life. I'm very much working not only in films but more than that," said Eesha while talking about her future plans.

She has completed her much delayed film ' Shabri ' and is looking forward to its release soon. "Shabri's first copy is coming soon. I am very excited. Big Pictures have a lot of plans for its promotions and will also be taking it to festivals," said the actress who is looking forward to its release.

Her focus is not just films now. Eesha is planning to set up her own hospitality company too.

Urmila Matondkar to walk the ramp

Decked with traditional jewelry, Urmila Matondkar will play showstopper for a prominent jewelry brand.

Urmila Matondkar who has been lying low for quite some time seems to be coming out of her dry spell. The actress who was last seen in Karzzz in 2008 and hasn't starred in any film since more than two years now, made her comeback with the TV show Chak Dhoom Dhoom 2 where she plays the role of a celebrity judge.

And now the sexy lady, who has been known for her perfect figure in Bollywood, will be walking the ramp. This isn't for any fashion show as such but for a prominent jewelry brand. The Marathi mulgi will grace the ramp for Waman Hari Pethe Jewellers, a popular name in Maharashtra.

The show, which is supposed to happen tomorrow in Mumbai, will be opened by model Aanchal Kumar followed by svelte models wearing alluring Aseem Merchant designer outfits and fusion jewelry concept, which blends traditional Maharashtrian motifs with contemporary designs. The event will also witness a fusion dance performance by Sandip Soparrkar. Celebrity guests expected include Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Manisha Koirala, Narmmada Ahuja, Jackie Shroff, Neeta Lulla, Niksha Lulla, Yuvika Choudhary, Rakshada Khan and Sunidhi Chauhan.

Hope Bollywood once again takes a look at the actress who was, at one time, amongst the most popular names in the film industry.
Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar gets the look right to supposedly essay the role of Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar.

Akshay Kumar returns to action films with the sequel to Once Upon a Time in Mumbai. It's been a while since the actor has done a gangster film that earned him rave reviews in films like International Khiladi and Khiladiyoon Ke Khiladi. Naturally he is excited. "I have been waiting for the right script to stamp my return to action and finally I found it. My look in the film has been completely my director Milan Luthria and producer Ekta Kapoor's call. They have worked in tandem to give me this intense look," he says.

Akki's character is the older version of Emraan Hashmi's character, Shoaib Khan, from the prequel. The buzz is that the character is based on underworld kingpin Dawood Ibrahim. However the actor says it's untrue, "I play a gangster of the 80s and it would be unwise to say that I'm playing Dawood even though the world is saying so."

Meanwhile, Ekta reveals that he will have three looks in the film. "Akshay ages through the film. It begins with 25 and then 30 and then 35 is the age span that we cover. So he will have three looks in the film. We combined how a gangster of the 80s looked and mixed Akshay's natural charm to his dreaded on screen persona," the producer adds. Sources have it that Akki will be taking help from prosthetics to make him to look similar to the real Dawood and will also be attending a 15 day kinesics workshop to train in the body language and mannerisms of the gangster." Here is a sneak peak especially for TOI readers.

Bieber, Selena kiss in public

While others their age would hang around the food court or window shop, singer Justin Bieber and his girlfriend Selena Gomez cuddled and kissed each other at a local shopping centre, where they were on a shopping spree for designer wear.

The couple shopped in the high-end Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana stores in Beverly Hills, and indulged in public display of affection like never before. They were all eyes for each other as they kissed and cuddled in the Louis Vuitton store, reports dailymail.

The " Wizards Of Waverly Place" star Gomez, 18, was dressed in grey skinny jeans, ballet flats, a leather jacket and printed scarf. She wrapped her arms cosily around her 17-year-old boyfriend's neck and leaned in for a kiss.

The two didn't seem to care about any fans looking at them.

For the past many months, Bieber and Gomez had been denying dating each other and insisted they were like brother and sister, the couple is now happy to be open about their relationship status.

The pair made their debut outing as a couple at the Vanity Fair post-Oscars bash. They were up, close and personal on the red carpet.

The Australian singer has a seven-month-old son with boyfriend Kris Smith, and their life has totally changed ever since they became parents, reports femalefirst.

"Ethan dictates everything that goes on in our lives now, and he's the happiest, most amazing baby ever," he added.

Smith, 32, also revealed he and 39-year-old Minogue, who have been in a relationship since August 2008, are already considering having more children, though he admits their careers could make it difficult to manage more kids.

Christina to turn music coach

Singer Christina Aguilera will soon appear as a singing coach on a new music reality series "The Voice".

The show will be aired on NBC, starting April 26. She will join rapper and record producer Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5's Adam Levine as a musical coach on the show, and is extremely excited, reports dailymail.

"I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it. To be given the opportunity to help shape new artistes' careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms," said Aguilera.

The 30-year-old had quite a dull start to 2011 with a disastrous Super Bowl performance, a collapse on stage at the Grammy Awards, and a public intoxication arrest.

However, bosses at NBC network are still all praises for her and call her an "inspiration".

"Christina has a once in a generation talent. Her voice is phenomenally distinctive and instantly recognizable," said Paul Telegdy, executive vice president of Alternative Programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios.

"Her journey as an artiste, who started so young in the music business, will be an inspiration to the talent she coaches on the show," he added.

Sienna to play belly dancing housewife

Actress Sienna Miller is set to play a comedic belly dancing housewife in Rachid Bouchareb movie " Just Like A Woman".

The 29-year-old actress agreed to work on the project even before she read the script as she was so keen to work with the director, reports contactmusic.

"Rachid is one of the most exciting directors working today. He's one of those people who understand the medium of film in a way that's not manipulative but that's honest and raw. As a director, he's capable of anything," she said.

The movie tells the tale of a woman (Miller) who runs away to Las Vegas with her belly dancing teacher to enter a competition.

Megan Fox turns more skinng?

Megan Fox is considered by many to be the most beautiful woman in the world. However, new pictures show her looking skinnier than usual.

The actress stripped down to her underwear to advertise Emporio Armani''s lingerie and in one pose she hunches over to show a concave stomach, while her bones are clearly visible through her back, reports the Daily Mail.

Wearing minimal make-up the star is indisputably beautiful but the image is a stark one.
Megan has previously stripped to her underwear to advertise Emporio Armani''s lingerie - but the tables have been turned somewhat in her latest advertising campaign for the fashion house''s fragrance Armani Code.

The 'Jennifer''s Body' star has just been announced as the new face of the scent, and has shot a sultry television advert which sees her pose with a naked man while she remains relatively covered up.

The full version of the sexy TV advert is due to air in the next few weeks and advertises both the underwear and jeans spring 2011 collections.

No heavy duty dance steps for Abhishek

The promotional video of Game is more about Abhishek Bachchan's attitude than heavy duty choreography.

Remember Abhishek Bachchan's hip-hop dance movements in ' Right Here Right Now ' track from Bluffmaster (2005) which went on to become a rage. He is all set to recreate the magic once again with his upcoming film Game . The actor has shot for a special promotional video which will be played in the end credits of the song. Hotties Kangna Ranaut and Sarah Jane Dias give him company in the track.

Talking about Abhishek's dance steps in the video, director Abhinay Deo says, "We have not made him do heavy duty dance steps; it is all about his attitude. It gels with Abhishek's persona in the film. And Kangana and Sarah match him in it. It is a slickly shot number and has a mystical quality. "

Shot at Mehboob Studios, the choreography for music video has been done by Shiamak Davar. Says Shiamak," I loved working with Abhishek, who is my favourite person, while Kangana and Sarah simply adorable. It was something different that I did and loved doing every bit of it." The styling for the video has been done by Shyamali Arora while the music is by Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

No "Munni' for Sonakshi

Though there were rumours that Sonakshi Sinha will do an item number, the actress says she is not open to the idea.

Sonakshi Sinha has been riding high post the success of her debut film and with all the accolades she received at all award functions this year. Presently shooting with Akshay Kumar for Shirish Kunder's Joker in Chandigarh, there was news that she might do an item number in the film. Perhaps that came from the fact that Shirish Kunder's wife Farah Khan was the woman responsible for both the hottest item numbers of last year – ' Munni ' and ' Sheila '.

However Sonakshi recently denied any such development. The actress has flatly refused that she would do item numbers. But why no to item numbers especially in times when the biggest of actresses are open to it since it gives quick fame and money?

Sonakshi feels she is just not bold enough to do an item song. Though she danced to Munni Badnaam Hui at a recent award function, which might have perhaps led to the rumours, she maintains that she is not comfortable doing one for a film. Though open to dancing, she isn't open to item numbers.

Rajamouli denies Bollywood news reports

Recently Bollywood news circles reported that Rajamouli is planning to remake Magadheera into Hindi with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in the lead. However, Rajamouli vehemently denied the news and said he has no plans to remake Magadheera into any language.

In fact, Rajamouli has moved on from Magadheera and is currently concentrating more in Eega starring Samantha and Nani. He also announced a high budget film with Prabhas which will start rolling from September. Therefore, the maverick director has no time to spare a thought for Bollywood entry.

After South Indian directors like Murugadoss and Prabhudeva clicking in Bollywood, many of the star heroes over there are eyeing top rated directors of South. And why not, Rajamouli is definitely the man which any star hero will die to work with. But right now, the focus of Rajamouli is only on Telugu cinema.

'Slumdog' star Rubina loses house in fire

A child star of Oscar-winning movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' lost everything she had as her family home was destroyed in a huge fire in Mumbai.

Rubina Ali, who played Latika in Danny Boyle's 2008 Oscar-winning film, said she had lost everything, including her photographs, newspaper clippings and film memorabilia.

More than 500 huts were destroyed in the city centre blaze, near the Bandra Railway Station.

"Along with my house, all my good memories of my time on the film have been reduced to ashes. My new school books have been totally burnt. However, I feel relieved to see all my family members safe. The fire is so huge, it could have cost us our lives," the Daily Mail quoted the 12-year-old as saying.

Rubina's father, Rafiq Ali, said: "After my daughter's fame, this house had become all the more special for me. Seeing it burnt to ashes in front of my eyes, I feel like I have lost everything. This was all we had."

The fire that broke out in one of the houses in the early evening quickly spread to around 500 houses in the locality. Last night the fire was reported to be spreading due to strong winds blowing into the city.

Oops: Sonam Kapoor's wardrobe malfunction

Sidhartha, Sophie spotted together!

Sidhartha Mallya and Sophie Chodhry made an entry together at Nandita Mahtani's fashion show?

The singer-turned-actress seemed comfortable in the company of the Mallya scion. Of course, girlfriend Deepika Padukone, was many miles away.

The actress is in Bhopal shooting for her film Aarakshan but that isn't an excuse for Sid to run free and escort other girls to parties, especially a siren like Sophie who is known to enjoy the company of young boys.

Remember her tryst with Bhushan Kumar and Jackky Bhagnani? Also note that Sid and Sophs were bonding at another party too recently, but Dippy was very much around at that time. Maybe there is nothing to worry about it, and it was just a couple of friends hanging out. Or perhaps the Bangalore lad is tired of his girlfriend denying his existence, and decided to jolt things up a bit. And who better to do it with, than with your buddy of over a decade.

Colin Firth to be knighted

Colin Firth may soon be knighted, thanks to his splendid performance in 'The King's Speech'.

The 50-year-old actor portrayed Queen Elizabeth''s father King George VI in the movie, and the royal family are said to be so impressed with his performance they are considering making him a Sir.

"Colin has been a great ambassador for Britain throughout his career and his sensitive portrayal of King George VI has won him much admiration among the royal family - and of course, the film''s many fans," Contactmusic quoted a source as telling the Daily Mail.

Although the Buckingham Palace hasn't confirmed the rumour, Firth will learn if he has made the cut the week before the Queen''s Birthday Honours list is announced in June.

A source said, "The Queen loves a good film. ''The King''s Speech'' is close to the bone as it is a portrayal of her family in the 1930s. But she found it moving and enjoyable. She was clearly amused by some of the lighter moments.

Penelope, Bridges play Beauty and the Beast

Oscar winners Penelope Cruz and Jeff Bridges have posed as fairytale lovers Beauty and the Beast for a new Disney advertisement.

The stars dressed up as the beloved characters for a whimsical campaign for Disney theme parks shot by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, reports the Daily Star.

In the advertisement, Bridges looks like a handsome prince lifting Cruz in a yellow ball gown high into the air.

Leibovitz''s latest campaign also features Queen Latifah as Ursula from The Little Mermaid, as well as Olivia Wilde as the Evil Queen and Alec Baldwin as the Mirror from Snow White

Franco, Taylor-Wood to create short films

Lead vocalist for R.E.M. Michael Stipe has signed on actor James Franco and director Sam Taylor-Wood to create short films to accompany the highly anticipated new album, 'Collapse Into Now'.

Franco, 32, and Taylor-Wood, 44, have signed up to direct clips inspired by different songs on the record for Stipe's Collapse Into Now Film Project.

Stipe, 51, handpicked both the actor and the 'Nowhere Man' director for his latest effort, and admits, to NME.com, he gave them "free rein" to do whatever they liked with his tracks.

"I went to people I really wanted to work with and I could trust them to do whatever they wanted. They had absolute free rein," the Daily Express quoted Stipe as saying.

"In many instances I was surprised, in many instances I got what I wanted. What I wanted wasn't primarily important though, what was important was to trust the directors with something as precious as a brand new song.

"It was really fun for me to curate, working with all these different artists, and seeing how they interpreted the songs. The thing that was surprising is how much they interlockingly work, like an album.

"It was a way of presenting the idea of an album in 2011, beyond a music fan's idea of an album 20 years ago. The way technology is right now, it's possible to present something in any way you want to.
