Almost half of couples actually break up on Valentine’s Day

Melbourne, Feb 14 – A survey has found that Valentine’s Day, which is touted as a day of love, is being used by almost half of young people in Australia for breaking up.

A Galaxy Research survey of more than 1200 people aged 18-39 has found 47 percent have chosen to end it with their partner on or around Valentine’s Day after taking stock of their relationship.

Commissioned by big-four bank NAB the relationships survey found most young Australians, 57 percent, did not like the day nor did they want to celebrate it as the most romantic of the year.

Almost half – 44 percent – of respondents said Valentine’s Day was a cynical marketing exercise designed to make couples shower each other with flowers, chocolates or underwear, while one-in-four singles saw it as a day of dread and a time to feel bad about themselves.

The survey has been launched as part of a cheeky anti-Valentine’s Day campaign spear-headed by social commentator and author Zoe Foster to encourage people to evaluate their relationships, including with their banks.

Foster, who co-wrote ‘Textbook Romance’ with radio funny man Hamish Blake, said that while for some couples Valentine’s Day could be filled with happiness it was also a time when couples assess their relationship and looked at options.

Between New Year and February 14 is a time when many evaluate whether their relationships are right for them,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Foster as saying.

“Almost half of young people will actually break up with their partner around Valentine’s Day – it’s almost what you could consider ‘break-up season’,” she said.

The survey found that as many as one-in-three unmarried couples used February 14 to consider their relationship while one-in-four, 25 percent, admitted to staying in a relationship over Valentine’s Day even though the relationship had lost its spark.

“Trust, respect and honesty are all of incredible importance,” Foster said.

“So, if your partner has cheated, or you’re feeling it’s run its course, or you just don’t bring out the best in each other, perhaps it’s time to move on,” she added. (ANI)

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan freed, not allowed to leave India

New Delhi, Feb 14 – With Pakistan cranking up diplomatic pressure, Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who was detained at the Delhi airport on charges of carrying undisclosed foreign currency, was released Monday after hours of interrogation by officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence – but has been asked to stay in the country.

Rahat, along with two of his colleagues Maroof and Chitresh Shirivastava, have been asked to appear before the DIR Feb 17, informed sources said.

Rahat was released after an assurance by the Pakistan High Commission that he will cooperate with the probe, the sources added. He has been told not to leave the country.
‘We are only questioning him. We will be shortly taking a decision,’ Vijaylakshmi Sharma, Director-General of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, told reporters in Delhi.

Rahat was detained at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport Sunday on his way back to Pakistan after attending concerts and award functions in India. More than $100,000 was recovered from the 15-member troupe.

Islamabad started working up diplomatic channels to free him after he was detained Sunday night.

Government sources in New Delhi Monday said India’s external affairs ministry has been in touch with Pakistan’s foreign office over the issue.

Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir called Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad Sharat Sabharwal and discussed the matter around midnight Sunday. He requested the Indian envoy to ensure that ‘no official should misbehave with Rahat during interrogation’.
Bashir also called up Pakistani High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik and directed him to ‘take immediate steps for securing release of Rahat’.

‘The matter should be taken up formally with Indian foreign office,’ he said, adding that ‘contact with Indian authorities for updates in the case must be maintained throughout’.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik called Shahid Malik and directed him ‘to provide necessary legal and other consular help to Rahat’.

‘Regular updates should be given to authorities in Pakistan regarding efforts to resolve the case,’ he stressed.

Rahat’s brother-in-law, Asim Raza, told Dunya TV that they ‘received information from the media and were feeling concerned about it’. ‘We are yet to establish any proper contact with the authorities in India although Rahat talked briefly with his wife and asked her to remain hopeful of a positive outcome’.

Rahat, the nephew of legendary singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, is popular both in India and Pakistan. Several of his hit songs from Indian films are a rage on both sides of the border, for which he has won several awards, including the recent Filmfare award for ‘Dil to Bacha Hai Ji’.

Ali Landry’s ex Mario Lopez had sex in stag party

Melbourne, Feb 14 – Actor Mario Lopez has revealed that he had sex with a woman on his bachelor party before marrying actress and former Miss USA, Ali Landry.
Their marriage was annulled after two weeks amid rumours of Lopez’s rampant cheating.
Lopez and Landry had been long-time lovers when they married in April 2004.
Now, almost seven years later, 37-year-old actor has confessed that he cheated on her on his wild bachelor party weekend in Mexico.
“It was my bachelor party,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Lopez as telling US radio, saying that he had been “bouncing around” Mexico with his cousins.

“I had no business of being in that position,” he said, offering that he “messed around” with another woman.

“It was spring break … everybody was hanging out. That was a situation where I was not mature and man enough,” he said.

Before heading out for his big weekend, Lopez didn’t tell then-fiancee Landry the whole truth.
“I said I was going to Cabo (San Lucas) … to go marlin fishing,” he said.

“Then my cousin surprised me and said ‘No, … we’re going on this whirlwind tour: Cabo, Acapulco, all these places.’

“I figured at that point it was easier to ask for forgiveness (afterward). It’s my bachelor party, we were going to have a good time. And we went, we had a good time,” he said.

At the time Lopez was caught in an incriminating poolside photograph with another woman.
“We’re partying, and somebody took a picture,” he said.

But Landry’s sister eventually got a hold of that photo and shared it with her.

“I was wrong for obviously lying, and I shouldn’t have been in that position,” Lopez added. (ANI)

Top Five Sexy Heroes of Present Day Bollywood

The top five sexiest men of Bollywood are very difficult to pin point. As Bollywood allows only those actors to take centre stage who have a great body and a fair degree of acting talent. The competition to grab work is very high here as almost all of them have great bodies and a greater sex appeal. Let me introduce you to the Five Sexiest men of tinsel town.

1. Salman Khan

The name Salman Khan flashes in our mind when we think of the five sexiest men of Bollywood. He is a body builder and works out regularly. With a height of less than six feet, he has a body of which he can be proud of, and which his directors too are proud of as they sometimes ask him to take his shirt of for a few shots. In the year 2008 a wax replica has been installed at Madame Tussauds. He is one the very busy actors even today and has been in the industry for two decades.

2. John Abraham

When ever one hears of John Abraham one is bound to remember a super hero on a speeding bike. A Mills and Boon hero face with a charismatic smile and a well worked out body is what gives one the true picture of the next sexiest actor of the Hindi film industry.

3. Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan is considered one of the hottest men of Bollywood. His very first film Kaho Na Pyar Hai had girls becoming a big fan of his after seeing his muscular body. From a tanned complexion, light eyes to a beautiful expression he has it all. His seductive smile can send a million hearts thumping. He is considered one of the most stylish men of Bollywood. Many compare him to a Greek God.

4. Akshay Kumar

The most seductive hero of the 20th century is definitely Akshay Kumar. He has a great chemistry with all the heroines. His great height and broad shoulders adds to a very handsome body. His extraordinary talent to do the stunt shots himself and the flexibility of this all round actor makes him one of the sexiest heroes of all times. The number of films he releases in a single year goes to show how much the audience loves him and waits for him. With ease he is able to conduct himself as a very romantic hero.

5.Shahrukh Khan

Last but not the least Shah Rukh Khan portrays himself as another of the sexiest icons of Bollywood. His dimpled faced cheek, naughty eyes and ever enthusiastic body language makes many a heart flutter. A man in his 40’s playing the role of a guy who is in his 20’s takes a lot of credit. Romantic hero to a negative character to a energetic dancer he can do it all. Madame Tussauds will have his replica too. When ever he goes abroad for the various film awards the applause and the cries of his fans tells us that Shah Rukh Khan is one of the heroes with a great sex appeal.

All these men have a great body and are hero worshiped by many in the audience. However who is the best and how they should be ranked in order is a matter of choice.

Sonakshi, Akshay pair up for Bhansali’s next

Offers are showering on the newbie Sonaskhi Sinha. After signing Abbas Mustan’s ‘Race’, Shirish Kunder’s ‘Joker’, the ‘Dabangg’ actress has bagged another interesting project opposite Akshay Kumar in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s home production to be directed by Prabhu Deva.

‘Dabangg’ has made veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi an overnight star and she has bagged ‘Best Debutante award’ in almost all the award events.

Farah Khan has promised a sizzling item number to the actress and now-a-days Sonakshi is into fitness regime to shed her extra flab for her upcoming films.

Akshay, Twinkle celebrate Valentine’s Day every week

Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna has been married for the last 10 years but still love sparks between them and the reason behind their intense love and closeness is that the duo celebrates Valentine’s Day every week.

Talking about Valentine’s Day and its significance, the actor said, "Days like Valentine`s and our wedding anniversary definitely have a special significance. But honestly speaking my wife and I celebrate Valentine`s every week."

When asked who plans the vacation, the action star quickly replied, “When planning a vacation I bring the plastic globe in our home and rotate it in front of Tina (Twinkle). She has to just put her finger on a place and we fly there for our next holiday with our son Aarav.

Twinkle knows her every wish is my command. Whatever she desires, be it diamonds, a car or a villa; she has to ask and it will be hers. But the beauty of the whole thing is, that in the decade gone by, I have realised that what my wife really craves for, is my time. She has made me promise that I will always spend quality time with her and Aarav."

Akshay added that he is very romantic at heart but he doesn’t flaunt it on and off the screen.

Aamir to help Imran, Ali Zafar make peace?

Actor Aamir Khan was touted to play mediator between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan when he invited them both to the grand wedding reception he hosted for nephew Imran Khan and Avantika Malik. Sadly that was not to happen as the two actors came and left at different times.

However, Aamir may well be executing the role of mediator in the case of Imran Khan and Ali Zafar. It so happens that these two actors, who are shooting together for the film 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' along with Katrina Kaif, don't get along.

We hear, they aren't on talking terms. A unit member informs that Imran and Ali were friends in the beginning but something unruly happened and they have distanced themselves from each other.

According to sources, Imran felt that Ali was gradually developing an attitude. It also reached Imran's ears that Ali was claiming to be the lead actor in the movie. However, Ali insists that none of the above is true, and evidence lies in the fact that he was also invited to Imran and Avantika's grand reception. He said that all was indeed well between him and Imran.

But then Ali didn't turn up at the reception. With Ali being a distant relative of Aamir Khan's, one wonders if Aamir can play mediator between the two actors and iron out whatever differences they may have.

Vivek's Valentine gift to Priyanka

Vivek Oberoi and wife Priyanka have a special plan for their first Valentine's Day together. The couple who dedicatedly work for a social cause will be celebrating this special day with underprivileged girls from Trivandrum, Kerala.

Vivek informs that his wife loves to work for social causes, and this was indeed the best way to make her day special. Vivek and Priyanka landed in Trivandrum this morning. He said, "Priyanka and I have just landed in the beautiful city of Trivandrum, Kerala! This is what I call a true celebration of love. I feel lucky that my wife and I have the same passion for social causes. She says that making these kids feel special today is the best Valentine's gift ever."

He also informed that he has been invited for a premiere of a film made by underprivileged girls. "I feel so honored, I've been invited as chief guest of the film premiere for 'Given a Chance' - a film made by a group of amazingly talented underprivileged girls. I sincerely hope everyone will support these talented, young girls and I look forward to watching the film and making these kids feel special today," he signed off.

Sonakshi is Katrina's soap successor

It is her first television ad campaign. Sonakshi Sinha is happy that she is Katrina Kaif's successor as the face of Dyna soap and says it was a lot of fun getting into the bathtub for it.

Sonakshi and Katrina are incidentally both Salman Khan's protegees and the "Dabangg" newcomer insists there's no tension between them. Sonakshi is full of admiration for her senior and doesn't think she has replaced Katrina in the Dyna soap ad.

"Katrina had done the Dyna campaign many years back and they haven't had a brand ambassador after her. So like every brand and celebrity move on, so have Dyna and Katrina. She has moved to Lux. I've come in to Dyna, simple!"

"Not every newcomer gets to represent one of the highest-selling soaps in the country," she said.

What was it like shooting the campaign, specially since it required Sonakshi, who made her debut as a village belle, to get into a bathtub?

"It was good fun. The team was excellent and the shoot went off smoothly. I wasn't the least self-conscious about the way it was shot. It's a very aesthetically shot ad. It was completely in my comfort zone," she said

"Just getting into a bathtub doesn't mean one has to be unaesthetic," Sonakshi added.

Kangna, Madhavan kiss

Actor Madhavan has engaged in a liplock with co-actor Kangna Ranaut for the film 'Tanu weds Manu'.

However, Madhavan is insistent that he hasn't kissed on-screen, while director Anand L Rai says it's one sweet instance in the movie when Madhavan and Kangna kiss.

Madhavan plays Manu in the movie, and goes to Tanu's (Kangna's) house. Tanu comes home drunk because she doesn't want to get married, but Manu falls in love with her anyway, and plants a kiss straight on the lips of a drunk Tanu.

Madhavan had also locked lips with Vidya Balan for 'Guru'. Post that, he said he wouldn't kiss on screen again. But in the world of showbiz, it's important never to say 'never'. Simply because you never know...

SRK in Malaysia to shoot 'Don' sequel

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan is back in Malaysia to shoot a sequel to his blockbuster 'Don' - this time on a larger scale and with a local baddie to combat.

Immensely popular and honoured with the traditional Malaysian title Datuk, akin to knighthood, Khan arrived here Sunday morning along with co-star Priyanka Chopra.

"The `king' of Bollywood is in Malaysia to film the sequel to his 2006 blockbuster hit 'Don'," The Star announced Monday.

He flew in from Mumbai after a gruelling 58 hours of working on a set.

"Datuk Shah Rukh Khan lived up to his tough guy image by proceeding to Malacca state to continue filming," the newspaper said.

Besides Priyanka, a former Miss World, a 60-member crew accompanied Khan to Malacca.

"The Indian icon looked relaxed and up to the task of filming `Don 2', a highly-anticipated action thriller."

His arrival created a stir at the airport as passengers rushed to catch a glimpse of the actors.

"Despite their hectic schedule, the duo did not disappoint when their fans asked to take photographs."

"Don 2" will continue to portray Khan as Don, an undercover police officer masquerading as the leader of an international gang of drug smugglers.

Priyanka will play his love interest, Roma.

The sequel will promote Malaysia, just as the initial blockbuster did.

Local sensation Ady Putra, known for his bad boy roles in hit Malay movies like "Anak Halal" and "Histeria", will also star alongside Khan, with shooting to be done at Sungai Udang.

Khan's close friend of 16 years, Lorna Enan Muloon, said the Indian actor had set the trend for Bollywood to have Malaysia, especially Malacca, as a preferred location for filming.

"The state has a special place in his heart," she said.

"Don 2" will also be filmed in Kuala Lumpur, the national capital and Langkawi, a popular island resort.

Deepika’s item song to overshadow Munni, Shiela?

Move over Munni… and Sheila…, the new item song in tinsel town is ready to scorch the screens this summer. If the teaser of Deepika Padukone’s item in Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maaro Dum is any indication, there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. It is learnt that she started preparing for it from the day after she signed up for the Pritam-composed track in the film toplining Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and south star, Rana Dugabatti.

All those who have had a dekko of it, swear that Padukone’s song, with a heady mix of sex and drugs in the lyrics, is sure to set the screen ablaze.

Interestingly, Sippy had briefed the choreographer to ensure that it was the hottest number this year and conveyed the same to Padukone too. No wonder, stylist Anahita Shroff Adajania has created one of the shortest outfits for the actor, who even got a temporary Dum maaro dum… tattoo on her stomach.

When contacted, Bosco diplomatically says, “We certainly want the track to reach at least the level set by Munni and Shelia.” About the choreography, he says, “We’ve used a new form of aggressive dance called Krumping. It is very fast-paced and not easy. Apart from your body, you need to work your mind on it.”

The choreographer, who has previously teamed with Sippy for Right here, right now… for Bluffmaster (2005), enthused that they’re excited about venturing into a new style of dance. “After packing up her other shoots at 10 pm, Deepika rehearsed till 1 to 2 am for three days. It took us a month and a half to plan the entire sequence with Rohan, Anahita and Pritam to conceptualise the track in a jungle-like setting with the waterfalls etc. You’ve got to see it to believe it,” he says.

Who's trying to sabotage Akshay's image?

Actor Akshay Kumar was to perform at the Balaji Global Indian Film and TV Honors (GIFTH).

When he stepped onto stage, the music started. Akki was to do an action sequence and unveil his look for Milan Luthria's Once Upon a Time in Mumbai 2, produced by Ektaa Kapoor.

But mid-way through the act, the music stopped. This, in spite of having a few reheasals the previous day. Though most of the assistants backstage say it was a technical glitch, Akshay and Ektaa believe otherwise. They are of the opinion that someone sabotaged Akshay's act on purpose.

Some say there was a producer around who got along famously well with Akshay Kumar once upon a time, but later the two had a fall out. However, nothing can be said on this for sure, but Ektaa is adamant to get to the bottom of this, we hear.

Deepika’s sexiest poster!

Deepika Padukone lives up to the sex appeal of Zeenat Aman!

Deepika Padukone is all set to revive the Zeenat Aman magic onscreen as she has been roped in to do the remix version of Zeenat's smash hit 'Dum Maaro Dum' in Rohan Sippy's film by the same name.

Reports of Deepika wanting to look hotter than Sheila aka Katrina Kaif in this item song were doing the rounds. The 'first look' of the film is out and Deepika seems to have proved what she is capable of!

Deepika indeed looks scorching hot in the poster of the film which shows off her toned abs and pout. The film's name has been embedded on Deepika's curvaceous body in Devanagiri script.

The poster has definitely upped our curiosity and we are sure even Zeenat Aman will give Deepika a thumbs up!

Dum Maaro Dum is a Thriller, directed by Rohan Sippy, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Bipasha Basu and Prateik Babbar. The film is set to release on April 22, 2011.

Bebo has no time for Saif on V-Day

Saif Ali Khan will have buffaloes for company today, while the rest of the world celebrates Valentine's Day.

The actor is busy shooting in Bhopal for Prakash Jha's Aarakshan and will not be spending quality time with his ladylove Kareena.

But turns out, Saif was given one day off on Saturday before this particular shooting schedule began. Sure enough, Saif flew back to Mumbai on Saturday just so he could be with Bebo.

But luck was not in favour. Bebo was busy rehearsing that day for an awards function.

A disheartened Saif flew back to Bhopal to resume shooting. Everyone from the Big B to Manoj Bajpai was given Saturday off with strict instructions to be back in time for the shooting schedule.

Prakash Jha said, "It is a very complicated climax. We cannot afford distractions. Love and Valentine's Day can wait." Sorry Saif, cêst la vie!
