Minisha Lambha stuns audience at Blenders show in Kolkata

If it was angel white for Priyanka Chopra, then it was devil black for Bollywood actress Minisha Lambha, who provided a stunning finale to the Kolkata chapter of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2011 on Sunday.

The mood had already been set by a red carpet collection from designer Rocky S that showcased a gala of Men’s wear that included sherwanis and fit suits in colour palette of blacks, greys and nudes with a dash of deep red infusing energy into classic pieces.

The outfits were already exuding a lot of oomph and the style statement was firmly expressed when Bollywood beauty Minisha Lambha scorched the ramp in a classic retro black gown from Rocky’s repertoire.
“The whole idea was to provide that glam look that you see in the red carpet and so I custom fitted that black gown for Minisha,” Rocky said.

Minisha, who was very exuberant with her look remarked, “Classic pieces are my style and a classic black gown always stands the test of time. I feel fabulous and it was a great pleasure being here.”

The glamour of ages gone by came alive with Reynu Tandon’s collection which chose to blend the magnificence of India’s Mughal era combined with the grandiose sensibilities of the Victorian age.

“There are two collections, the White collection and the Gold collection with motifs from the old era and fabrics like lace, crystal, beaten metal interspersed with a mix of fine French chiffon and chandelier lace. The designs are modern but they have an antique old world look and charm,” Tandon explained.

Hyderabad based designer Anand Kabra’ line called “No More Mask” attempted to portray a social commentary of all that he sees around him with an eclectic ensemble in shades like winter white, black, chocolate, yellow and tangerine in varied fabrics such as organza, tulle, silk jersey, satin and crepe de chine.
“There is a lot of meaningless glitz around us and it so happens that the world is trying to move back to its roots of basic honesty and principles. This collection is my way of showing that,” Kabra said.

Designer Ramona Narang’s Ibella label showcased the “Real Woman” through bold silhouettes in bright vibrant colours and chain detailing, which claims to make one look glamorous all day long.

“The party season is coming up and it’s the time to look glamorous,” Ramona said.

Model Debi Dutta made her debut as the showstopper for Ramona in a shimmering black gown that had a Chicago retro feel about it.
