Ghajini release may schedule next year

Post 26/11, film business has been hit hard. Most cineplexes are running to negligible occupancy and in some instances, the management has been forced to call off shows due to lack of audiences.

On the contrary, Ghajini producer Madhu Mantena says that the film will arrive earlier. The film was slated for release on Thursday, 25th December, but the makers have decided to release it on Wednesday, 24th December night. "We're organising paid previews across the country on Wednesday night, which means we're releasing Ghajini a day earlier," Madhu tells me.

Perhaps this may have prompted people to assume that Aamir Khan's keenly anticipated Ghajini, which is confirmed for Thursday, 25th December, might get pushed to the New Year. But it's not true!

Being of Islam Religion I feel little Scared : Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are the latest Bollywood stars to criticise the government for failing to tackle terrorism and protect citizens. Both said they were "disgusted" with politicians "who provide no leadership" while arming themselves "with so many security guards".

The actors were busy shooting for Renzil D'Silva's untitled project in Philadelphia when the mayhem broke loose in Mumbai Nov 26. "The government has failed us again. The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is advertising for votes while the bodies of the dead have not yet been cremated. Mr (Narendra) Modi had offered Rs 10 million to the widow of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare. The news has shaken the foundations of our city and destroyed our already shaky belief in our government's ability to protect us," Saif wrote in a statement circulated to the media and signed by both.

Saif also slammed the terrorists for killing "innocent people" in the name of "god" or "religion". "As an Indian and a Muslim, I feel like expressing my condemnation and outright disgust at any party killing innocent people in the name of god, Allah or whatever we choose to call him.

"I am so worried that the whole religion (Islam) will be judged and condemned. There are strong communal feelings running through all strata's of our society and I find it hard to defend the fact that there seems to be a Muslim hand behind every detonator. I feel a little scared as a Muslim now," explained the actor.

Saif added: "I would like to thank the NSG (National Security Guard) and the Mumbai police who handled the situation so well with so little on their side in terms of equipment and support.

Working with new directors is risky: Katrina Kaif

The actress justified her stance by narrating how she agreed to her role in recently released “Yuvvraaj”, in which she was cast opposite real-life beau Salman Khan.

“The first thing that I see before choosing a film is definitely the director. If a new person comes to me with a script and says 'let's go for it', I should be really willing to take risks to agree but I guess that will also happen sometime. Working with new directors is risky,” Karina Says.

“If a director who can't pull off a good script comes up to me with a fantastic script and I love it, it is still a meaningless and futile exercise to go ahead with the film. For me, who directs the film is of utmost importance,” Katrina said.

“I knew that I was not the protagonist in 'Yuvvraaj', but I wanted to be a part of it since an established director like Subhash Ghai was making it,” she said. Katrina says most actors admit that the script excites them, but for her, right director is priority.

Jodi no 6 Mohit Malik and Addite out of Nach Baliye 4

Jodi no 6, of Nach Baliye 4, Mohit Malik and Addite Shirwakar got the bolt from the blue, when their name was announced in the elimination round. This came as a shock, since they were doing quite well all this while and no one expected that their journey in the show would end just yet.

Apparently the couple is getting a lot of e-mails from all over, re-confirming whether this is for real or simply hearsay! Surely it's very touching for the couple to receive such thoughtful mails.

Being non-dancers, both Addite and Mohit had given their best so far. Regardless of a serious knee injury, Addite continued working hard to master the dance moves.

For those who are wondering what the couple is upto? Well fret not, you can catch Mohit in Dulhan and Addite is taking some time off till something interesting comes her way. Hoping to see this lovely couple together again!!

Movie Review: Oh My GOD! - Better second half

Cast:Vinay Pathak, Saurabh Shukla, Divya Dutta, Harsh Chhaya, Gaurav Gera
Producer: Zee Limelight
Director: Saurabh Srivastava
Music: Tutul, Bapi

The Movie:
Sourabh Shrivastava'soh, my god!!! may give an impression that it's yet another offshoot of BRUCE ALMIGHTY but the fact is that OH, MY GOD!! reminds you of the Hrishikesh Mukherjee/Basu Chatterjee films of the 1970s and 1980s.

Like most debutante-helmed vehicles, OH, MY GOD!! comes with its share of plusses and minusses. In this case, the aces overpower the deficiencies. omy god! may not be the ideal multiplex fare, but it has its heart in the right place.

Rajendra [Vinay Pathak], a simple salesman with big dreams, a hardcore Dhirubhai Ambani fan, wants to make it big in life through ethical means. Suman [Divya Dutta], his loving wife, stands by her husband at all times. As Rajendra continues to fail in his various money-making schemes, Suman pleads with God to help her husband.
Note the sequences in the second hour. Vinay Pathak watching the bagful of currency with disbelief -- it's wonderfully executed and enacted. God's [Saurabh Shukla] emergence every time Vinay decides to abandon the bag, is another interesting aspect. The finale -- when Vinay throws the money on the street -- is brilliant. In short, the film redeems itself in the second hour.

Given the fact that OH, MY GOD!! has been shot in 19 days, it doesn't look like a hurried job at all. Sourabh takes a simple story of a simpleton and narrates it in the most simplistic manner. The film has a lethargic pace in the first hour and that tapers the effect to an extent, but its back on its feet, post intermission.

oh my god rests on Vinay Pathak and Saurabh Shukla's firm shoulders and both deliver natural performances. Vinay is very believable in the latter reels, while Saurabh is equally credible. Divya Dutta is first-rate as the doting wife. Gaurav Gera does well. Harsh Chhaya is okay.
On the whole, o my god !! is a feel-good fare, with a strong second hour. At the box-office, it should grow with a strong word of mouth.
