Kajol appearance at the Lakme Fashion Week for Manish Malhotra

I've always been picky and choosy," says Kajol. "I won't do four films a year, neither am I game for a gruelling shooting schedule." That explains why she has signed just one film in the last four-odd years: Kunal Kohli's Fanaa, co-starring Aamir Khan (May release).

She had agreed to do the film because the script and the schedule matched her specifications. "The script of Fanaa makes for interesting cinema," she adds. Is she wary about possible comparisons (pre and post motherhood)?
The popular notion that married actresses are not well received by the audience is "a myth," she points out naming Zeenat Aman, Dimple Kapadia and Waheeda Rehman as examples. "Actually, such myths take root because the beauty factor of actresses has taken over other facets like talent and quality of work," she says.

"It is bound to happen," she agrees. "But good work is good work and will always be recognised as such."

On her recent friendly appearance at the Lakme Fashion Week for designer Manish Malhotra, she says: "It was a frightening but thrilling experience."

She won't talk about Fanaa, but avers that it was fun being back on the sets. "Now, I work only for fun. I guess I'm more at ease with my work today."

Ekta found new TV face from facebook

TV Queen Ekta Kapoor, whose two big shows Kyunki Saans Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki recently went off-air, has found her next big hero – from her Facebook friends list.

Disregarding the tons of pictures that she has on her desk, Ekta decided to use an unknown from her list of friends on Facebook for her next big show, Kitaani Mohabbat Hai – a guy called Karan Kundra.

Unable to control his excitement Karan says, “I saw Ekta ma’am on Facebook and sent her a friend request. But even before I could digest the joy that she had added me on her list, I don’t know how Balaji Telefilms got my email and asked me to come to Mumbai for an audition.”

Ekta confirmed the story, “It’s interesting and also strange the way I found Karan. He sent me a video clipping on my Facebook account, which I liked and approved.”

He further adds, “I just couldn’t believe that I was selected and wanted to be sure about the email not being a hoax. So I did not tell my parents about my visit to Mumbai. I had decided to return in a day’s time.”

If salli is addhi gharwali, Dever is addha gharwala: Chitrangada Singh

Source: Bollywood Hungama
Just a day to go for the release of Sorry Bhai and Chitrangda Singh is caught in a nervous yet jovial mood. She admits about all eyes being set on her comeback, especially since there were loud cries when she announced her premature 'alvida' to Bollywood after Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi and Kal - Yesterday and Tomorrow. However, she understands that Sorry Bhai would be a different project since now audience is aware about her existence.

Chitrangda, barely 24 hours to go. Feeling Terrific? Terrible?
I can't tell you because I myself don't know. I can't sleep as I am thinking about the film very moment. I think more than the audience, I myself have great expectations because of the comeback factor. When Hazaaron...' happened, I just walked in for the release as I didn't know what to expect. Even though it was my debut film, I didn't feel anything at all. In fact I remember that at that time, I was more worried about what I would be wearing for the release event than the audience reaction.

I think more than the audience, I myself have great expectations because of the comeback factor

And then you waited for years before making a comeback with Sorry Bhai. Weren't you shocked by the subject though, that of a woman falling for her finance's brother?

For centuries, there is a saying that 'Saali aadhi gharwali hoti hai'. So today, why do we shy away from saying that 'Devar matlab aadha gharwala'? Why not talk in equal terms. I know that the moment a female says something like this even in a joking way at home, she would be reprimanded. And then we talk about woman empowerment! In any case, we have showcased the entire dilemma in a lighthearted manner. Even the film's punchline says that 'Come Fall In Love With Your Brother's Bride'!

From your earlier heavy-duty films, Sorry Bhai would have come across as a welcome relief?

Definitely, this was some kind of relief. In fact even when I did my first two films, a lot of people were asking me if I would continue to keep doing stuff like that. Why just me, no actor would want to do the same thing time and again. It all becomes mundane and I also wanted to do something lighter where I didn't have to stress myself; something which isn't too high on emotions. I wanted to be a part of something which is fun and nice. I wanted to be a part of something which is fun and nice.

And was that the reason you didn't sign anything for such long time? Were you getting all intense roles to portray?

No, that was not the case. In fact I had cut myself completely. It was last year when I finally decided that I wanted to get back to films and started thinking of calling up people. Coincidentally, Onir called up around the same time and narrated the script. I was itching to get back in front of camera and since I knew about the two films he had done (My Brother Nikhil and Bas Ek Pal), I was game.

But why Onir?

Onir told me that Sorry Bhai was a light fun family film but again dealing with a delicate subject. I guess it was the perfect combination that I was looking for. So you know, it was not really planned that I was saying no to all heavyweights and suddenly said yes to him. It all just fitted in well at the right time.

Onir hasn't quite tasted commercial success. Weren't you worried?

I am a bit impulsive when it comes to making decisions and I wasn't worried about Onir's record. I want to do certain characters and whether I select them right or wrong, I stand by my decisions. I go by my gut feelings. Moreover, regardless of the way his films may have done at the box office, they had some sensibilities of their own. I like the fact that he does something different every time. Moreover, the moment I got to know about the film's cast with people like Shabana Azmi involved, I knew for sure that this was going to be my comeback film.
There are some odd people who have morality issues with the way things should work in real life

So after all the hype and hoopla, the real test comes in the form of the final product. Sorry Bhai has gone through some private screenings for celebrities and friends. How have the reactions been?

It may sound cliched but the fact is that people have liked the film immensely. My performance has been appreciated and what gladdened me most was to get a message from Raju Hirani. He felt that I was being quite natural in the film and even went on to suggest that I now start keeping a date diary handy. That was such a nice thing to hear because here I was so insecure and nervous while someone of his stature was impressed by my work. Really, my day was made!

There must have been some brickbats too?

Of course yes. There are some odd people who have morality issues with the way things should work in real life. But that's ok; people should have a difference of opinion. This is the very reason the film has been made so that we can tell our point of view.

success is not luck of chance : Katrina kaif

Five years into Bollywood, Britain-born actress Katrina Kaif is proud that she could prove wrong all those people who wrote her off during her initial days in the industry. She is one of the few actresses who can boast of giving six hits in a row.

When I started, people were not only writing me off for my strong British accent, there were many others who tried to prevent me from making it till here," said Katrina. Mo<"They didn't do so in an aggressive or excessive manner, but they used to say things like 'I don't know...' and 'I'm not sure...' that would suggest a not-so-positive approach towards me. But I proved myself ultimately.

Katrina was emphatic when she spoke of her belief in destiny. "The great thing about life is that you never know what can happen and there's no limitation to it. Someone can tell you that you can never be this and never be that. It's not true. Anyone can be what he wants to be and destiny plays a major part in it. God has of course been very kind to me.

From her disastrous debut with Boom in 2003 to five hits in a row in 2007, the 24-year-old has not only worked hard on her acting skills, she has also shown a marked improvement in her Hindi dialogue delivery.

Commenting on her improved accent, Katrina - born of a Kashmiri father and a British mother - said: "Interacting with various people on and off the sets and doing some eight Hindi movies, dealing with Hindi scripts, practising dialogue delivery ... I think that in itself has taught me and helped me improve my accent."

Katrina is in the news nowadays for having delivered one box office dud Yuvvraaj after delivering six back-to-back hits including Namastey London, Apne, Partner, Welcome, Race and Singh Is Kinng.

"'Lucky mascot' doesn't make any sense. It is such an illogical statement. A successful film is a combination of a good director, good music, intelligent script, good timing, destiny, everybody's efforts and audience's reaction. There isn't a reason or an explanation that you can tag a person as lucky," she remarked.

In her career, Katrina has predominantly dabbled in comedies, but she has lately "felt the need to progress a bit" and try her hand at different things.

"If I get a contrast role in one film like where one get-up has me play a simple, shy and homely girl, the other has me as a brass and loud girl, I would definitely do that," she said in an excited tone.

As of now, Katrina has a number of films in her kitty. She is doing two films with Ranbir Kapoor including Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani by Rajkumar Santoshi. She is also working with Prakash Jha on his multi-starrer Rajniti.

Inspiration behind aamir's ghajini look

Source: OneIndia
Many may think that Aamir Khan's look in Ghajini is new. His striped hairdo, eight-pack abs, phone numbers on the body and tattoos are very much unlike the usual Bollywood masala films. However, actor Surya was the first person to sport that look in the South Indian version of the film, which was based on Memento.

Now, many may come to conclusion that Surya was the inspiration behind Aamir's look. However, the grapevine is abuzz with the news that Aamir's eight-pack look is inspired by actor Jason Statham, who is known for his roles in films like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Revolver and Snatch.

Well, only Aamir can say whether is inspired by Surya or Jason Statham.

kareena slash deepika chance to romance with Siaf

The lady who lost to Deepika Padukone the chance of working with beau Saif in Imtiaz Ali’s film, has made sure to be a part of Saif’s next project with Sriram Raghavan.

There are some, who aim for the stars and reach the moon, and then there are some who aim for the stars and make sure to reach there... and our Kareena Kapoor belongs to the latter lot.

Kareena Kapoor will be seen romancing her Saif in Raghavan’s spy thriller Agent Vinod . Saif plays the title role and Kareena, his love interest. We all are aware of Saif’s Casanova ways, aren’t we?

Ever since Agent Vinod was announced, Bebo was keen on bagging the role and made sure that Deepika doesn’t get away with her sweety pie this time. Perhaps the lady just wants to be with Saif at all times, at work and otherwise and keep his attention solely on her.

Reportedly, Deepika was the first choice for the female lead in Agent Vinod but it seems Kareena was in no mood to take yet another defeat from the young star. However, director Raghavan explains that he never approached Deepika for the film. But yes he is keen to work with Kareena for the same.

When asked, S Raghavan confirmed, “I haven’t yet signed her but hope to do that soon. I can give more details only by December end.” The film will have two leading ladies – an Indian (Kareena) and a foreign actress. The film will go on the floors in March 2009. Apart from this, Saifeena will be seen together in Karan Johar’s next .

Zayed's wife has no problem with kissing scene in Yuvvraaj

Hard to believe, but Zayed Khan kisses for the first time on screen in Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj. And the lip-locking girl is Aimee (Amrit) Maghera.

Fortunately, Zayed's wife Malaika was quite 'cool' about her husband's dedication to the craft. So Zayed could exhale.

Shivers Zayed, "Firstly I've never done intimate scenes like these on screen. I'm a family man with a wife and son. And to watch the scenes with my parents at the premiere gave me the shivers. What would they think? On top of it all it was our marriage anniversary. What a gift for my wife!"

Says the source, "It isn't just a kiss in Yuvvraaj. It was a huge smooching spree between Zayed and his co-star Aimee (Amrit) Maghera. Zayed really had to go for the kill. And he was reluctant and unwilling. Zayed protested hard. He argued he's a married man with a son.

It took all of the Showman's persuasive powers to convince the young Khan (belonging to an extended family of reputed ladies' men) that a lip-to-lip is very much the order of the day...or shall we say, the odour of the Friday, going by the legion of lip locks we've lately witnessed in our films.

His wife would certainly not like seeing him in a compromising position with his co-star even if it was for the screen. But Subhash Ghai was adamant. The Showman has never had a kissing scene in his cinema before. He wanted to start good and proper. He insisted Zayed do the needful." ng in Yuvvraaj. I wanted to surprise her on the premiere night."

Tushar Kapoor Raise his prise as Golmall return success

Post the success of Golmaal Returns, Tusshar Kapoor has pretty much realised his market worth. Though he was content working in a particular price range over the years, now he certainly wishes to be more demanding when it comes to monetary compensation.

So is he also looking at mega crore deals, just like so many colleagues? ''I don't wish to divulge how many crores but I can assure that it won't be something overtly obscene which you see with so many other actors. It would be the price that I deserve," says the actor, who has been liked for his role in Golmaal Returns.

Questions Tusshar, ''I guess it's just fair for me to hike my price. I have worked hard to reach this stage and deserve the price I should command now." I want to be a part of such cinema which is fun, regardless of whether the genre is action or comedy," he ended.

What is his definition of entertaining cinema? "Well, entertaining cinema is the kind that you see in Golmaal Returns as well as Shootout At Lokhandwala. Both films are as different from each other as chalk and cheese but are entertaining nevertheless.
